Most children, once they've grown up and moved out, sometimes come back to visit their parents to use their house as a sort of personal grocery store
And with Bruce being a literal billionaire whose house is always stocked with food and supplies, the batkids (that aren't living in the manor) definitely visit just for the purpose of taking shit for themselves.
---
For Dick, it's just small things, food and maybe some utensils. Bruce is barely in the kitchen so he never notices dishes go missing, and there are like 10 other children in his house so literally any one of the younger kids could've stolen food in the middle of the night, so he doesn't bat an eye at all.
Babs probably steals Bruce's hardware or his tools from the batcave. Sometimes, if she's nice, she'll leave a note.
Steph probably takes shit that no one will notice at the time but will absolutely be annoyed about when they need said thing. Stapler, soap bars, the microwave plate, etc...(Taking after Jason, she steals the hub caps off the batmobile's tires)
However, for Jason, once his relationship with Bruce is somewhat decent, of course he's gonna be petty and start stealing the more expensive shit in the manor for his apartment. Jason's microwave is broken? The next day, the cave's self-made and enhanced microwave made by Bruce for convenience is just gone.
Jason's feeling a coffee maker for his place? The one in Bruce's study disappears, too.
---
At first, Bruce thinks he's just sleep deprived, but then much bigger things start to go missing, like the whole TV and couch set in the living room. He assumes the younger kids are just playing pranks on him (sounds like something Stephanie would do) but then Bruce notices that the thief deliberately avoids stealing things from the kitchen, which is where Alfred is most of the time, and suddenly Bruce has an irritated clue on who the culprit is.
At first, he doesn't say anything, until one day he comes back, tired from a patrol, and is about to log in all the info on the computer only to realize his batchair is gone. That's when he texts Jason a blunt "If you really need things for your place, you can just ask me. I'll buy them for you." (As if Jason himself isn't loaded from his totally legal activities)
---
So now Jason's pettiness levels increase tenfold, and oh, wouldn't you look at it, his bike needs some new tires, and he knows a great place to get some more.
One night, Bruce is just blearily getting up for a late night snack, only to see Damian scamper away with a...lamp? So Bruce immediately follows him into the foyer only to see ALL of his kids (sans the ones not living in the manor), trying to haul two arm chairs out the window, and they just stop dead silent to stare at him until someone whispers a nervous "Crap"
Bruce doesn't even have any energy to fight, he just pinches his nose and is all "What is the meaning of this" in his tired dad voice. And Duke meekly responds with "we wanted more chairs at Jason's place"
And suddenly it all makes sense. Not once did Bruce wonder how the HELL Jason managed to lug a whole 60in TV and a full couch set on his own in one night. Of course, he had accomplices. Bruce just turns right around and goes right the hell back to his room to sleep. He'll deal with this in the morning.
#Batfam#batkids#batdad#family bonding means stealing shit from ur dad to bring to ur big bro's place to make hangouts more comfortable#Bruce can measure the state of his relationship based on what Jason's currently stealing from his place#Jason isn't stealing anything at all? Ok he's MAD mad at Bruce.#Which tells Bruce he's gotta write up an apology text soon otherwise a building in Gotham's abt to blow up#Jason steals some tires from his vehicles? Means they probably had a heartfelt moment recently.#Jason steals shit Bruce KNOWS he doesn't need? Like a whole ass SINK? Bruce knows he did smth to mildy annoy Jason.#jason todd#dick grayson#bruce wayne#batman#red hood#damian wayne#barbara gordon#stephanie brown#duke thomas#batfamily#batbros#crack#dc comics#fanatical posting

PLSSSS MORE FANFIC RECOMMENDATIONS OF JASON TODDDD!
DUDEE!!!! really happy u asked but also omg this got long agaiN who would have thought (!) i added summaries this time tho :)
here is part one of my fic recs XD
andd heres the new ones!! pls give them some love if u read them :D
Dick and Jason:
how lonely to be something that nothing wants to kill by sunlitlemonade
There were blood drops dripping down his fingers to the ground. The puddle was big enough for it to have spread around more than half the tub. His breaths shuddered, they were shallow and waning. But he was breathing and Dick’s world centered around that.
starting strong with Angst go read all of sun’s fics i always die and get revived <333 pls mind the tags on this one
cast on/cast off by hellsreluctantheir
“This is surprisingly non-destructive for Jason,” Dick comments, lightly. In the parking lot, Jason pulls a grenade out of one of his pockets, yanks the pin, and tosses it through the roller door and out of sight, before tearing out of the parking lot in chase of the truck. “Well, for a minute there,” Dick amends. He takes a step back towards the alley the batmobile is parked in, giving Bruce a quick glance. “We following? “No,” Bruce says, as the grenade goes off. “He’s cleared the warehouse. We can get into the office.” Dick sighs again. But Jason knows he can call in if he needs help.
time loop!!! read most of this writer's fics and fell in love with them all,, go read fr
bloodstained by hellsreluctantheir
“I know where the clinic is, asshole,” Jason said. The wad of gauze he was using to keep pressure kept slipping against his shoulder. The knife had caught the space between two panels, split to allow movement. Lucky shot. “Ok, let me make sure you get there without passing out from blood loss,” Dick said, a deliberate evenness to his tone, like he was doing his best to accomodate someone who was being completely unreasonable. Shithead. “I’m not going to pass out,” Jason said, ignoring the fact that he was actually feeling pretty unsteady on his feet. He caught himself with his good shoulder on the entry to the bathroom, took a deep breath. “What would Daddy Bats think if he knew you were here, trying to help me?” “I assume something like, ‘Wow, Dick, you’re such a good brother, trying so hard to make sure Jason is ok even when he’s being a complete idiot about it,’” Dick sniped.
heres another one from them. jasons scars and dick. andd another one next
brothers in arms by hellsreluctantheir
It wasn’t like none of them went undercover. Jason practically lived there. And he’d punch anyone who tried to make it a sob story for him, to cluck over the times he’d been alone in a pit of vipers, act like it was some tragedy. But given half a minute to think about it, Dick somewhere completely cut off from everyone but Bruce, no allies on hand, surrounded by enemies. Angry as he was at the lie, there was something about that he just fucking hated. or Thinking your brother is dead and then finding out he's been alive the whole time really has a way of making you rethink the relationship.
Shelter by Ptelea
Two safe houses, two nights dealing with the aftermath of fear toxin, multiple conversations, several meals. Written for Sholio's September 2020 Comfort Fest for a prompt from Musesfool. Warning-wise, there's nothing graphic here but there are definitely references to past canon trauma for both the characters.
the way they are written here <33
Rotten Fruits by couldyoublameme
“I’m fine,” Dick assured gently, sitting up slightly. “Just a bad night, is all.” It’s a familiar phrase he has used so often. Whenever the addiction crawls back into his mind, a parasite he can never truly get rid of. The family knows what it means. Knows what the ‘bad’ is. Knows what to do. “Oh,” Jason says. “Why?”
absolutely murdered me. pls do mind the tags
You Can Do Better Than That by AlexaAffect
All Jason could hear was his own ragged breathing. He desperately gasped for air, each breath more exhausting than the last and his lungs and throat burned with the effort. In. And, he needed a second longer with every breath he took, out. His arms had been suspended for the last… 15? minutes? Jason had quit keeping track of the time, he’d been too preoccupied trying to hold himself upright, trying to ease his position, switch it up, anything to prolong the guaranteed death. “Red Hood?” That was Dick’s voice. Huh. So they had found him fast enough. Or alternatively; Dick finds a kidnapped Jason shortly before he asphyxiates.
this fic is just oddly comforting to me idk. very precious
Equivalent Exchange by Lysical
Apparently favors don't expire on death. --"What do you want, Dick?" "For you to be happy, Jay." Dick leaned over and pinched his cheek. Jason reached up and swiped at him, scowling. "And world peace."
ADORABLE and fun
Just for Now by Lysical
Jason was back in Gotham and the timing couldn't be worse for him to need assistance on a case. He didn't want to see any of the Bats and he was sure the feeling was mutual. Nightwing was the worst option for Oracle to pick to help him out.
To Reconcile by CasualDanger
“Babs slapped me at your funeral.” Jason goes to laugh, but it’s just a cough and his mouth barely even twitches up. “She hated me in that moment. I mean, really, really hated me, like I did Talia after I found out Damian had died. And I wondered,” his voice cracks, eyes glassy now, “did you hate anyone when I was gone? Because I was gone?”
he ain't heavy, he's my brother by someplacewarm
Dick's been putting off meeting with Jason for a while now, but when a distress call comes through, he has no choice but to answer. Or the one where Dick and Jason talk, fight, get high and cuddle. In that order.
making gold out of it by vmkhoney
Dick talks himself back down on the bathroom floor, clinical and detached. (For someone whose primary skill is manipulating his body, it’s not very often that he feels connected to it.) - Or, five years after Blockbuster, Dick begins teetering on the ledge of processing what Catalina did to him.
a wonderful dick grayson fic, and jason is there being a good brother. mind the tags
What Hurts You by blueyeti
Dick comes to Jason's aid when he's injured in a fight, or at least he thinks he has.
jason has no scars!! and thats also sad
at me, too, someone is looking by bacondoughnut
Dick Grayson knows he's got problems when the Red Hood's busted leg somehow becomes his concern. aka; How Dick Grayson finds out Jason Todd is alive. A story about healing.
a rather long one for my standards XD (very short attention span) but this made me sit down and read. very fun jason
Bruce and Jason:
Saltwater and Desperation by bacondoughnut
Jason's not sure how he even manages to get himself out of the harbor. He's just glad Bruce is there when he does. Not that he'll ever, ever admit as much out loud.
same writer, love this jason (and bruce) so much
Insomnolence by navree
It's not like he slept much as a kid anyway; this is just a return to the status quo. He's not overly tired, and even if he's been sleeping less than his already limited amount throughout April, that's still not any of her business. Bad memories are already bad enough even before they spend the next few years in the aftermath becoming nightmares.
navree being The bruce and jason writer for me all of their fics are so o(- (
Ash Into The Wind by navree
This is his dad in there, the first man he ever called Dad, at any rate, and even after everything, booze and jail and Bruce and death and then death again, there's never going to be a part of Jason that isn't gutted that he's dead. One night, a wraith in a red helmet slips onto the grounds of Blackgate Penitentiary to steal one specific thing.
another one from them
Trapped by lurkinglurkerwholurks
BatFam Week 2018, Day Two. Prompt: Trapped Yes, the prompt is "trapped" and it's a Jason fic. I'm so, so sorry. (Not really, though.) Please see tags for potential triggers.
binge read this writers fics recently they write them so nice
Overcoming Our Antecedents by Batbirdies
Bruce swallows, closing his eyes for a brief moment before he takes another, steadying breath and presses both hands to his face. He just needs a moment. Needs to remember where he is, what year it is, that Jason is not actually fifteen, he only looks like he is. This is temporary. This is just a temporary problem that needs to be contained until they can change Jason back. This is not a repeat of events already passed. This is not a second chance.
Jason and Batfam:
Names and Neapolitan by Muddell
“Goddamnnit Robin,” Hood is there, pulling him into his arms. Robin sees that helmet, he sees the green eyes, the dark hair, he sees open, gray, Gotham sky, and hears tires squealing, and then he sees stone. He sees the cave. Bruce is there. Alfred is there. Dick is there. And Hood is there. Robin rolls in and out of consciousness. He reaches out, snatches the smell of copper and the touch of leather, and he holds Hood’s hand and he does not let go. He’s allowed to say it now. “Jason,” he says. “Don’t leave.” Or, following Dick telling Tim about his older brother, to Tim actually knowing him.
read a couple fics from this writer all so good!!!
Six Ways to Sunday by Muddell
Jason catches Duke hiding a headache and says, is anyone going to deal with that?
same writer!! really love their jason
Settle Down and Sleep by OberonBronze
A series of vignettes about seeking comfort. Damian tries his hand at being a comfort animal; Tim shows up at Jason’s place for an impromptu sleepover; Jason bonds with his older brother after a damaging fear toxin trip; Dick and Bruce have a long-overdue conversation.
really liked jason and dick in this :)
Tuck Me In by OberonBronze
Bruce Wayne and his long-standing habit of tucking his kids into bed.
think how great it is to fall asleep (and how terrible it is to wake up) by mikkal
Jason was fifteen, barely five foot, and underweight for his age when he died. When he came back to his body, suddenly he was too tall, too scarred, too much, too different. And he just... never got used to it. (Or: 5 times a Bat noticed/discovered his body dysphoria post resurrection)
Stranger Danger by alchemistsarego, whumpinaheartbeat (alchemistsarego)
There was never one particular moment that Damian registered that he was losing consciousness. Everything simply flashed from one thing to the next, even though some part of him understood that time had been passing in between. He had been sitting upright, rolling his eyes at something someone had said, then he was on the ground being pinned by some unknowable weight. All at once the weight was gone again, replaced instead by something not only lighter, but much warmer too. A blanket? No, a jacket.
jason and others:
Past Experience by Rookblonkorules
He thinks he might be dying. Again.
clark and jason :)
Bats in the Belfry by endlessnepenthe
Hal idly wonders how long he has before he's found. Probably not very. The Bat's freaky like that. (Or, Hal goes to Gotham and discovers that Batman's brand of freaky isn't exactly one of a kind.)
jason and hal jordan??! and slade? and magic.

Dp x Dc Shots by LMFAO
Masterpost
Danny watched as the Batmobile and Jason’s motorcycle raced down the streets heading into the outskirts of the city. They came upon an estate with a mansion that reminded him of Vlad’s. The Batman took a sharp turn into the forest surrounding the property. A few miles into the woods, the ground opened up into a cave.
“I guess it really is a cave.”
Danny followed them down the tunnel. The jagged rocks of the dark cave eventually led them to a large cavern housing technology like he had never seen. On the largest platform, a wall of screens and a few more suited heroes waited for them. Parking the vehicles was quick as everyone unloaded, and Danny let his legs reform to touch down on the ground.
Steph skips over to the new strangers. “Phantom. Here is the rest of the team. This is Black Bat or Casandra.” Danny assessed the girl. She seemed reserved but she waved at him anyway.
“This is Signal.”
“Duke,” he says shaking Danny’s hand.
Next to him, a taller man in black spandex with a blue symbol across his chest steps up. He fashes the brightest smile Danny has ever seen.
“Nightwing. Dick. Do not worry, I have heard every joke in the book.”
“And I am Oracle. Barbara. Nice to meet you Phantom.”
“How do you know my name?”
“We were watching the whole interaction. Can never be too safe in Gotham, especially when we are planning to reveal our identities.”
“It is always good to have someone watching your back.” Danny tried not to let his sadness reach his voice. It has been so many years, but being Phantom without Sam and Tucker has been hard. He misses them. He misses Jazz, too. He misses everyone from Amity Park. Even though his life there consisted of getting bullied and fighting ghosts, it was still his home.
“But you do not seem to have anyone watching yours,” an older gentleman says from behind the new Bats. “Alfred Pennyworth, at your service.”
“Do not worry about me. The people watching my back know when they are needed.”
“Frostbite, I am assuming? I heard you say the name when answering the phone after we met,” Tim chimes in.
“Yes, he is one of many looking out for me.” Danny could tell they were prying at his life, and he was not about to explain the intricacies of the Infinite Realms. He preferred keeping his royal status under wraps, too. Danny is very aware of his abilities, but he is not interested in scaring the life out of a group of mortals that live in a world nearly sealed from ghost activity. “Should we not get started? I do not think Jason wants to be stinky for longer than he needs to.”
“Correct. So, how does this work?”
“Um. It might be a slightly weird process, but I can explain it to the best of my ability. You will not understand everything I say so do not be afraid to ask questions.”
Danny is sitting across from Jason near the med-bay. Their spot was per Bruce’s request in case anything went wrong. He was getting increasingly nervous, with the eyes of the Batfamily watching him intently. Jason had removed his helmet and domino masks. The first feature that caught Danny’s eye was the white streak in his hair. It reminds him of the time he got rid of his powers and gained his own streak.
“So my theory on how this happened was originally that you must have absorbed tainted ectoplasm, and your human body could not handle the energy.”
“Orginally? Your theory has changed?” Bruce asks.
“I think so. For it to be correct, Jason would have had to be dead when he absorbed the tainted ectoplasm.” The room seemed to still. Gazes that were once pinned on him shifted between Bruce and Jason. Silence fills the room like a dense cloud.
“I can not say for sure,” Jason speaks, eyeing Bruce over Danny’s shoulder. “But, yeah, probably.”
“I am sorry.” Danny places a hand on Jason’s knee. It is the only comfort he can provide that feels appropriate. Dick slides onto the cushioned exam table, putting an arm around him with a slight squeeze. The whole family seems to inch closer in an attempt to comfort their brother.
“Death is a hard reality to face, but it is even harder to be the one that has to live through it.” Jason’s eyes meet Danny’s, a look of understanding passing between them.
“The people around you stop mourning because you are back, but you never got the chance to mourn the person you once were. That is okay because you can start now.” Jason gives a small nod of affirmation. He can tell there are teary eyes in the room, but Danny’s attention does not leave Jason.
“Would you like me to explain my theory or should I begin?”
“I want to know why I am like this.”
“The streak in your hair reminded me of a case I had seen before. When people die, they develop an ectoplasmic core. The Lazurus Pit, as you call it, contains tainted ectoplasm. If I am correct, your core did not have time to form properly, and getting dunked shocked you back into the living world. You are alive, but you have a partial core and partial ghost DNA that is feeding on the residual ectoplasm. Ghost emotions work differently than mortal ones. The Pit Madness, you called it, is likely your usage of ectoplasm past the point of your production rate. Unfortunately, it is tainted, so instead of exhaustion, you get reactivity.”
“So, how will you fix it?” Jason’s voice was deep and serious, but it was impossible to miss the hope lining his words.
“My body produces ectoplasm by converting the food I eat. It is as pure as it gets. I am hoping infusing you with my ectoplasm will cleanse what is remaining of the Lazurus Pit and leave you with enough to spare for the rest of your life, as I said at the Bat Burger.”
“Where does the weird part come in?”
“Well. There is only one way to transfer ectoplasm to you in a controlled way. You have to drink my blood. I can ensure it is the correct amount. While I could use any body fluid, I think blood is the least disgusting.”
“I see your point. I am ready.”
“Should warn you, I am not entirely sure how you will react or if it will work at all.”
“It is a risk I am willing to take.”
“Jason,” Bruce calls, “Are you sure?”
“Yes. This is the closest I will ever be to a solution.” Dick catches Jason’s eye. They give a small nod to each other. Jason looks away, scanning the room. A room filled with his family who are all here to support him. “I have to take my chance.”
Alfred brings over a cart. Needles, blades, and glassware ranging from tubes to beakers litter the surface.
“Our equipment is at your disposal.”
“Thank you, but all I will need is this.” Danny grabs a beaker with small enough units to get an accurate and precise measurement based on his calculations.
“I brought my own.” Grabbing a small blade from his suit pocket, which is actually a small pocket dimension. “Your blades and needles would not penetrate my skin.” He makes a small cut on his hand. Danny is aware that it is the dumbest place to give himself a cut, but it is what they do in movies. He wants to look cool.
Holding his hand over the beaker, letting the glowing viscous liquid leak from his palm. The Batfamily looks on curiously. The glass fills slowly and the tension in the room rises with every passing minute. He pulls his hand away.
“Forty-four point four milliliters. Perfect.” He shakes his hand and the slash disappears like it was never there.
“That is it? That is like a shot?”
“I guess it is. Are you ready?” Danny asks, handing the small beaker to him.
“Like tequila. Just have to throw it back.” He takes a deep breath, grabbing the glass. He lifts it up, looking around the room. “Cheers!”
Jason swallows down the glob of ectoplasm. His face scrunches as he cringes at the taste. Danny might have laughed if the room were not so electrified with anxiety.
Jason’s eyes open, and they are as bright and green as Danny’s. Next to him, Dick seems to brace for an attack, hand shooting up a baton strapped to his back. Jason struggles to hold in pained grunts. His eyes squeeze shut again, and his hands come up to cradle his head. Dick stands, and the whole room readies to fight.
Danny puts out a hand. In his calmest, sternest voice he can muster, “Stand down. He is okay. He has to fight through.” Dick puts his weapon back and sinks back to the rest of the group. They relax slightly at his words but the tension is still palpable.
Jason’s muscles slowly relax, and his hands fall to his lap, rubbing back and forth across his thighs as he attempts to regain control of his breathing. He takes one final deep breath as his hands still and his eyes flutter open. Back to their normal shade of blue as they flick around to the faces in the room.
“It worked,” Jason utters in an awed whisper.
“How do you know for sure?” Tim questions cautiously.
“I just do. Thank you, Phantom.” The relief in his eyes is enough to put a smile on Danny’s face.
“Danny. You can call me Danny.”
“Thank you, Danny.”

Part 1 is here!
More content from my brainworms 🤭
=====
Jason sneaks out in the dead of night with the pendant in his right hand, three fives in his hoodie pocket that he’d picked from Willis, and determination in his chest. He wasn’t sure how he was going to do this, but he’ll manage.
He walks to the nearest bus station, hyper-aware of all the people around him, some of which he recognizes as his future goons, and others as the people who've been pushed to the brink and resorted to working with the rougher rogues to survive and make ends meet. Jason wants to desperately help- to talk to them and warn them about their future- but it wouldn't do anything. As he was currently- a kid- he wouldn't be able to get anything done. No one would listen to him.
Jason sits down on the bus's perpetually sticky seats, trying not to grimace as he waited for the stop.
He mentally plans the route he'll be taking.
He could've gone for Dick first, but Jason doesn't think it would've worked. It's been a few days already, and if Dickface had retained his memory, then he would have already came knocking on Jason's door. Tim too, knowing that little genius stalker brain of his, nothing could've stopped him from accomplishing anything he set his mind to. Damian probably could too, but the brat’s barely concieved, and Jason doubts the league would let a literal infant out of their sight.
So, that’s why he was on his way to Timmy’s manor. Not only is Tim most definitely alone, he’s the easiest to reach.
As the bus halts at the stop closest to Bristol, Jason ignores the driver’s suspicious gaze and rushes off. He brushes his hand against his pocket knife (He’s not stupid, even in Bristol, Gotham was Gotham and the chance of death will never be less than 20%) and he begins walking.
He’s almost forgotten how- peaceful wasn’t quite the word- less terrible Gotham was earlier on in Bruce’s tenure as the Bat. Not only can he make out a few constellations, the sounds police sirens didn’t constantly fill the night… It moght’ve been after his death when everything started to go to shit.
Jason takes a deep breath, marveling at the cleanliness of the air. Sure, it wasn’t as clean as the country, but compare to Gotham when Damian became Robin, the atmosphere might as well be pure oxygen!
Halfway to the Drake Manor, Jason feels his legs grow sore and cramped. God, now more than ever he wished for his Robin training and post-death stamina. Was he ever this… weak?
Distantly, Jason hears the sound of the Batmobile rushing through the streets and shakes his head.
He was almost there. Tim’s bedroom lights were on and a shape was moving around.
Jason groans and breaks into a sprint despite his legs aching in complaint. Tim was, as he said, a creepy little stalker, and even at the ripe old age of six, he was already stalking the bats. Which, props to him, but Jason would rather not follow that weaselly little bastard through the roofs of Gotham.
“SHIT!” Jason curses, misjudging his momentum and slamming into the Drakes’ front door.
God, it hurt so fucking much, and- shit, his nose was bleeding…
But, silver lining and all that, because the door swings open to reveal a harried and panicked-looking Timothy Jackson Drake dressed head-to-toe black, with his hundred-dollar camera hanging around his neck.
God, Jason hates rich people.
“Are you okay?!” the six year old squeaks, lurching forward to stare uncertainly at him.
Well, that proves Jason’s theory. If Tim had all his memories, he would’ve pointed and laughed at him for being an idiot, and Jason would’ve tackled him, dick would get involved, they’d break a few things, and the cass would work with alfred to get them back in line…
(God, Jason wished they’d never gone on that stupid trip.)
“Do you think i’m fine?” Jason huffed, guilt filling his chest as he watched Tim’s face fall. God, sometimes he forgets that then younger Tim was still so… bright. He hadn’t grown into all his sass yet. “I didn’t mean that, kid-”
But it was in the small moments where he’s reminded of his little brother’s spirit.
Tim puffs up in offense, almost like a little cat of sorts, and narrows his eyes, “I’m not a kid! I’m six, and you’re not that old either!”
“Sure, buddy,” Jason rolls his eyes before reaching up with a bloodied hand and pinching his nose, careful to stick the pendant in his pocket where Tim couldn’t see it. “Can I get a little help now?”
“Oh!” just like that, the Tim Jason was used to dissipates, and the kid was back to his shy little self, “Right, sorry. Come in! I’ll go grab you some napkins- are you hungry? It’s really late, and- oh, we have some juice too! We have passion fruit, dragonfruit, starfruit, strawberry-”
“I’ll take passionfruit,” Jason interrupted with an amused smile, “if you have the time, add a dash of lemon juice, ice, and honey.”
He watches as the kid freezes before nodding. Passionfruit with lemon and honey… that was one of Tim’s favorite drinks as an adult, and he’d constantly bugged Jason to make him some. Honestly, rich people shit.
“Okay! Uhm, do you want to shower first? You- you’re covered in blood, and i don’t think that’s too comfortable…”
“Yeah, sure,” he shrugs, “Lead the way, Timbo.”
“Timbo?” the kid faltered and blinks in confusion, but continued to lead Jason toward the bathroom before handing him a change of clothes.
When he was alone, the sound of running water filling the room, Jason took out the pendant and stared at it… The urge to bash the stupid thing against the wall was near overpowering, but he didn’t know what would happen if he did, and Jason would rather not try his luck.
He quickly washes, scrubbing himself down and reveling with how the warm water soothed his aching muscles. While he was at it, Jason scrubs at his scalp and washes his hair with tim’s fancy-ass shampoo snd conditioner. God, he misses the good shit.
When he finished, jason picked dried himself and shoved the pendant into one of the pant pockets (batman themed. why wasn’t he surprised? wonder woman would be leagues better than bruce. Nightwing too, he’s kinda surprised- oh. yeah. shit, he forgot…)
He stretches, humming at how his back popped pleasantly before sauntering down the steps. Sometime during the shower, his nose had stopped bleeding. Thank god for that.
“Tim!” Jason called, yawning briefly as he saw the kid staring into the humming microwave. The kid startled before smiling, Did you have a good shower?”
“Yeah, I did,” Jason nodded, “What are you making?”
“Food,” the kid replied easily, “they’re leftovers, do you want some?”
“Yeah sure, why not.”
As they ate, Jason wondered how the hell he was going to get the kid to remember. He hummed, feeling exhaustion pulling at his eyes as he finished with his portion of leftover spaghetti.
Tim looks over at him, “Are you tired?”
“Yeah,” Jasonsighs, “it’s been… a long couple of days.”
“Alright! We have a spare guestroom you can use, is that okay?”
Jason nodded. It’ll at least give him the time to think over how he’ll continue with his plan, “Yeah, sure. That’s fine. Lead the way, Tim.”
A few hours later, Jason was awaken by a shape pressing a knife to his throat.
He froze. His mind running through hundreds of different scenarios before he recognized the shape hovering over him.
“…Tim? What- what is this? Put the knife down, and we can-”
“How,” the kid interrupts with narrowed and blazing eyes, “do you know my name? I never told you who I am, and only the people who’ve worked with my parents know that I exist. Did someone send you to kidnap me?”
Jason blinked, running over the last few hours in his mind before realizing that yeah, oh shit, Tim was right. He never did tell Jason his name, did he?
“Okay, kid. I’m…” and then he sees a hint of golden scales peeking from the collar of the kid’s robin-themed sleep shirt, “My name is Jason Todd. You are Timothy Jackson Drake, the third Robin. I’m the second Robin, and… I come from the furture.”
Tim jolts away, taken aback by Jason’s words before becoming instantly suspicious, “You know my name, and you know I like Robin. Prove to me you’re from the future, and maybe i’ll trust you.”
Jason smiles despite the situation, because this was Tim. Tim wasn’t some scared and timid kid, he was an independent little narcoleptic gremlin who drank too much Monster, somehow caught the eye of Ra’s Al Ghul, lost his spleen, and could lie to Batman and get away with it.
“Here,” Jason said, gesturing for Tim to shuffle back before grabbing the pendant and tugging off his shirt. When Tim laid his eyes on the skeletal bird resting above Jason’s heart, his hand automatically drifts to the marking Jason was sure he had, “can i see your…”
Tim gave him an uncertain look, but Jason wasn’t too surprised. If some random creepy guy told him to take lf his shirt. Jason would’ve stabbed him and ran off.
“You have a knife, kid. If i tried doing anything, you could always stab me.”
“…Fine,” Tim bit out before shrugging off his shirt.
A golden snake stretched from the inside of Tim’s elbow, beautiful scales woven from gold coiled along the span of Tim’s arm before resting it’s head atop tim’s coller bone. Honestly? It was breathtaking, beautiful in a way that Jason envied, but it summarized Tim’s entire character pretty well.
The pendant in Jason’s hand glows as it nears Tim’s golden snake.
“I want to test something,” Jason says, “i’m gonna touch this to the head of thr snake, and we’ll see what happens.”
Tim narrows his eyes, his grip on the knife tightening before he nods.
The pendant presses agasinst Tim’s collar for a brief second, and then everything begins to glow.
Tim’s eyes, the snake’s outline, the fucking pendant- literally everything was fucking glowing.
Jason clenched his jaws, forcing himself to remain still as his brother gasps in pain. Tim’s hans twitched and jerked, but, it was as if some- some force was holding him still.
Eventually, after a few agonizing seconds, the gold fades and Jason hurriedly yanks it away. He surges forward, pulling the knife out of tim’s hand before tossing it to the side, off of the bed and out of the way.
“Jay…”
“Yeah, timmy?” Jason leaned back, pulling his brother up before carding a hand through his hair.
Tim was quiet for a few moments before finally speaking, “We need to get Dick, and then Damian.”
“So,” Jason allows the amusement to fill his tone, “are you gonna hold a knife to their throat, too?”
“I will grab that knife and actually stab you,” Tim huffed, “leave you with a scar that matched Red Hood’s.”
Jason scoffed, but he couldn’t help the smile rising onto his lips, “Language, kid. Who taught you to say these things, baby bird?”
“Fuck off,” Tim hissed, “i’m tired, and I miss the big bird…”
“Yeah,” he sighs, “i do too… It’s whatever though. Go to sleep, Tim. We’ll try and grab him tomorrow.”
“Okay… Goodnight, Jay.”
“Night, Tim.”
And sure, it may be lonely with the rest of his siblings at his side, but at least he no longer had to spend this new (old?) life all by himself.

who are the people you think jason actually cares about?
ohhh this is such a good question bc jason shows "caring" in so many fucked up ways <3 im only going off pre-52 canon because i do not like acknowledging rhato or anything that happened after that. so unfortunately i will not be going into an extensive rant about jason and rose 😔
so firstly and most obviously. jason cares about bruce a lot. everything in under the red hood and lost days and everything after that hinges on the fact that jason genuinely cares about bruce and cares what he thinks about him. if jason didnt care about bruce, none of it would've mattered. but the fact that he cares changes everything
with bruce, its not really care in the sense that he wants him to be okay and safe, but more that he wants bruce to show that he cares about him. he doesnt really give a shit about protecting bruce, mostly because he knows that bruce can protect himself so jason doesnt need to do anything. but even when he wants bruce dead, its still more about what bruce thinks of him than actually wanting him to die. its not main canon but the arkham knight comics show this really well since jason's only goal in that universe is to kill bruce, but every time he's close to death in the comics jason steps in to save him because he won't let bruce die if it isnt jason who kills him. then a good main canon example is ofc in lost days when jason puts a bomb in the batmobile, then chooses not to detonate it because bruce would die without knowing it was jason who killed him
red hood: lost days #2
also worth mentioning that jason actually explains what hes thinking In Depth to bruce. he wants bruce to understand him so he lays out exactly what hes doing and why. jason is so open about his emotions to Only bruce because hes desperate for his father to understand him. if he didnt care about bruce he wouldnt care what bruce thinks, but he openly shows everything to bruce because he WANTS him to understand. obviously this is not open honest healthy communication because its usually communicated by screaming while theyre punching each other. but its still worth something
another obvious one to me is talia <3 shes the only other person that hes ever really open and honest with, and hes not even screaming at her! he tells her what hes thinking most of the time, and he constantly goes back to her for help when he needs it.
lost days #3
im not gonna sit here and say that jason and talia have a super healthy relationship but. its by far the healthiest relationship he has post-death! even though iirc we never see them interact again after lost days (🙂) he still cares about her a lot and shes such an important part of his life
moving on. dick
dick is one of the only people we see jason go out of his way to talk to without fighting (sort of. they do end up fighting but he still just wanted to chat). without going into whatever the hell is going on in brothers in blood (affectionate! its camp!) he just wants to find dick and talk to him. hes being an asshole about it because hes jason but he became nightwing because there was a need for A Nightwing so he filled in, then he goes "omg dick my favorite brother lets team uppppp 😁 itll be so fun 😁"
nightwing #119
then in outsiders, jason comes to dick just to give him information. they end up fighting again because they both suck but there was no secret plot or ulterior motive, he just wanted to help black lightning and tell dick what he could do
outsiders #44
once again hes an asshole so its hard to tell but he does actually like & care about dick
okay. now its time for a controversial one. in a weird way i think mia is one of the few people he cares about
LISTEN. listen. im a mia fan so this is not just me being a jason fan and making everything with her about him. and im not saying "everything he did was fine actually because he did it out of love ☺️" NO he did it because hes fucked in the head. and i love him
so heres the thing. we see him with people he doesnt care about all the time. he beats the shit out of tim for no reason and generally makes peoples lives harder for fun. but its so different with mia. in a way he sees her as an extension of himself because he recognizes how similar they are, so hes genuinely just trying to get through to her. hes fighting her because its the only way he can get her to listen and really drive his point home! again, he sees so much of himself in her so hes basically using this moment to tell her everything that he would tell his past self after everything hes gone through. hes not trying to convince her, hes trying to convince baby jaybin.
green arrow #72
i love this scene so much. there are emotions you can only unlock by being insane about jason and mia at the same time and reading this scene. he is projecting so much onto her in this moment that in a roundabout way he really cares about what happens to her. i am the only person on earth with correct opinions about the jason and mia fight btw
anyways moving on to sasha/scarlet
honestly i dont like talking about scarlet because i feel like everything in that story is out of character for him, especially the idea that he would take in a kid sidekick. but if im talking about people he cared about pre-52 i dont want to leave her out
batman and robin #4
he doesnt really show care like this a lot (which is part of the reason it feels out of character but whatever) and its so significant to see that he just. actually cares about her. he knows that shes going through something difficult so hes there for her. in a way the same feelings are there as when he talks to mia (he sees himself in her and wants to tell her everything he wishes he had known at that age) but shes a lot more receptive given that he was the first person that took her in after what happened. that is not a good thing because he took a traumatized child and got her to kill people but we've already established that hes fucked in the head <3 but he actually cares about her and wants to protect her, so its the most normal way he shows that he cares about someone
and now i NEED to talk about donna
if you notice a pattern you'll see that most of the people that he cares about are either people he knew before he died or people that he projects onto. and lucky for donna shes both!
countdown #48
he still looks up to donna like he did when he was robin, and after what she went through (im not gonna bother questioning why he knows all the details of everything that happened to her. comics) he sees so much of himself in her but she obviously went down a completely different path and he doesnt agree with her but he clearly respects her for it. and she is once again one of the only people who he goes out of his way to just! have a conversation with! without fighting her! he just wants to chat with his buddy donna :( not to mention idk who pointed it out but i once saw someone say that he specifically destroyed donna's statue in teen titans #29 because!!! he cared about her!!!! they got along when he was robin and he wanted to see her!!
and even throughout countdown jason was rarely mad at donna. he fought with kyle allllll the time and sometimes donna yelled at him because hes an asshole but he never tried to pick a fight with donna! which means that donna is the only person on this list that he has never tried to fight and/or kill <3 donna & jason #1 one-sided besties of all time
okay anyways ill stop yapping now <3 in conclusion: bruce talia dick mia sasha donna

I’m having dramatic thoughts about Damian being born to Fem!Bruce ok I’m having THOUGHTS
(TW for alluding to Damian’s conception being nonconsensual)
Okay so set the stage of our Drama- Fem!Bruce (or just AFAB idc) is out on patrol or something and League Parent (Either Talia as in canon, or Ra’s if we’re feeling the creepy old man tonight) drops Damian off with “Hey, watch our son that you birthed and then I stole and let you think was dead for ten years, there’s some infighting in the league.”
(If we’re using Ra’s as dad then Talia is absolutely trying to kill Damian for the position of heir)
Bryce is, understandably, shocked. Her other children? Even more so. Because what do you mean you had a biological child? How did we not know about this?!
Damian isn’t old enough to be pre-robin unless he was cryogenically frozen. Did Bryce really hide a whole fucking pregnancy from them?
Dick is screaming, Jason shows up because he has to see this shit for himself, Bryce is standing in silence, staring at the results of every single test she can think of to confirm that yes, this is her son, this is her Damian, all the info matches up…
Tim tries to speak up, but Jason just turns on him, asking if he’s ready to be replaced too. Bryce didn’t even have to go looking this time!
Tim looks him dead in the eye and points out the birthdate(and death date) on file for Damian Wayne.
It’s exactly eight days before Jason was taken in.
How did Dick and Jason not know about this?
Because they weren’t there.
In the short period of time when Dick was striking out on his own, and before Bryce picked up Jason, League Baby Daddy of your choosing shows up and takes advantage. A simple greeting, a spiked drink, a blurry night, and a pregnancy test later…
Bruce is, as always, in any universe, is terrible at communication. But honestly she can be excused in this case. How exactly do you tell your wayward son ward that, after chasing him off because he was “being reckless” and “putting himself in danger,” you’ve gone and gotten taken advantage of, trusted someone that you had absolutely ZERO business trusting, and now you’re pregnant with an Al Ghul baby? And you’ve decided to keep it? That this isn’t you replacing him or demanding he return, because you understand his need for space, but also you desperately want him back with you because you’re scared but you can never admit it?
How do you do that in a text? Because Dick is not answering the phone.
You don’t. Thats a conversation you have face to face. So the messages Bryce leaves are all “there are some changes and i’d like to talk to you” “there may be a new member of the family soon” “please answer me chum”
Dick doesn’t answer.
Meanwhile, Gotham crime is being weird because “hey robins gone! Dynamic duo is out!” And Bryce is being careful because of her belly and sometimes she has to take breaks and hormones are bullying her and nothing is going her way right now.
And them she goes into labor too soon.
And something goes wrong (League Baby Daddy happens) and she’s told her baby is dead, and now she’s lost two children.
She recovers, and goes back out onto the streets, taking her rage and pain out on the criminals that got a little too bold with her in a hospital bed…
And then there’s a street rat jacking the tires off the Batmobile.
The fucking audacity. The guts. The challenge in his bright blue eyes, the sneer on his lips, the shaggy black hair. Skin just a bit darker than hers, not quite an Al Ghul’s deep olive but somewhere in the middle.
Is this what her Damian would have looked like? Is this what her son would have grown up to be?
Maybe its the hormones, maybe she’s projecting. She knows its a bad idea, but Bryce takes the kid home. Alfred gives her a knowing and slightly disapproving look, but accepts the new child with open arms, because there’s worse things. Jason fits in easily, and soon enough, Batman has a Robin again, and Bryce is smiling again, and begins to heal from the pain of losing Damian.
But Dick? Dick is PISSED.
Upon seeing news of a new Robin/Wayne, he finally looks though his messages, and comes to the wrong conclusion that Bryce was looking for a kid to replace him this whole time. She might have tried to get his input, but had eventually made a decision like this without him. And so he’s back, and he’s angry, and Bryce gets defensive because Jason is a good kid and she can’t use her dead baby to win an argument, not when the wound is so fresh.
So life continues. Jason dies, comes back, is angry because he listened in on a few arguments and now ALSO thinks Bryce actively hunted him down to be Robin, and now she’s done the same with Tim.
Bryce keeps quiet, because how is she supposed to explain after all these years? Jason is right to be angry. She let her emotions get the better of her and dragged a sweet boy into her life. The loss of all three if her children was her own fault, because she put him into the line of fire. There’s no excuse for that.
So years pass. Tempers settle somewhat, Bryce holds her grief close to her chest because she can’t do that to her children, but… then Damian is back. And it all explodes.
The story comes out in bits and pieces. Tim figures out a timeline based on the rest of the info in the file, and Bryce and Alfred slowly fill it in.
And like- they’re all still angry, and it is justified, because what the fuck, Bryce. But also…
Dick is horrified. He had been so angry, so so angry, reading those messages that he now knows, with this new information, were a cry for help. Bryce had been desperate and scared and wanted nothing more than to just talk to him after their fight, and when he had come back after something like this had happened he had immediately started another fight.
Jason isn’t sure how to feel. He hadn’t been taken in to be a replacement soldier, he had been taken in to be a replacement son. What is he supposed to do with that? Knowing that Bryce had seen him at his worst, and taken him in and shoved down her grief to help him?
Tim is wondering if every time Bryce backed away with an unreadable expression, it hadn’t been keeping herself emotionally distant, it was grief for the sons she had lost.
Steph is realizing that Bruce wasn’t lying, when Steph had to give her own baby up and Bryce had hugged her and said “I understand.”
Damian is sitting in a corner wondering what the ever-loving FUCK is going on. Why is everyone crying this is pathetic. Father take him home he prefers the threat of imminent death.

What I've learnt about the Batfamily from Tumblr
I know nothing about Batman - I have never read a comic, I have never watched a Batman series or cartoon or movie with him in it (except from that one scene at the end of wonder woman). This is what I have learnt about the members of the Batfamily entirely from tumblr and other social media.
1. Bruce Wayne
Bruce Wayne is Batman, and his superpower is being richer than God.
He lives in a mansion in Gotham, which is basically a city entirely made up of psychos
He cannot stop adopting children
Like I'm pretty sure he sees a child on their own with a vaguely traumatic backstory and has to adopt them.
Probably carries adoption papers in his utility belt for that very purpose
I'm not entirely sure how many children he has but that's okay because I don't think he knows either.
When he's in the mask his voice is really deep and he keeps saying "I'm Batman"
When he's not he acts like a complete idiot but probably tips a waitress by paying for their collage tuition
His parents are dead and this is very important - in a world of orphans, he is THE orphan
2. Dick Grayson
Bruce Wayne's oldest adopted son
He was in the circus as an acrobat until his parents died in front of him
I think they were murdered
He was the original Robin
Then he got bored or something and moved to somewhere called bludhaven which honestly sounds Norwegian, and renamed himself Nightwing.
Has extreme big brother energy
3. Jason Todd
Robin #2 because apparently there's a second one
I think he met Bruce after stealing the tires off Batman's car (the batmobile?) and then hitting him with a tire iron which is such a power move, especially for some random kid
He died but it's ok because he fell in a pit and got better
He renamed himself red hood and became a mass murderer for a bit
I think it was just a phase?
He was trained in the way of murder by someone called Talia. He either slept with her or was adopted by her.
I hope it's the second one because I know Bruce slept with her
Likes guns
4. Tim Drake
I think he stalked batman until he found out he was Bruce Wayne
In other words this random kid did what no megalomaniac with a grudge against the furry that routinely beats them up could
But then I think he was Bruce's neighbour pre-adoption so maybe he just noticed batman flying out from under the mansion each night, which says something problematic about his secret identity
He became robin too like how many robins does one city need?
Jason refers to him as 'replacement' which seems cold given 1. He himself was a replacement and 2. tim got replaced as well
I think he's Red Robin now, so clearly not too interested in change.
5. Damien Wayne
Bruce's biological son with the aforementioned assassin/murder trainer Talia.
Was in something called the League of Assassins but left to find his father, which given the name is the League of Assassins sounds like a smart life choice
Talia may have sent Damien to Bruce so she didn't have to deal with a teenager, but it also sounds like he left after an argument with his grandfather and League head-honcho Ra's so not sure whats going on there
Also Robin but I think at this point someone is taking the piss - possibly Batman
Feral Child(tm)
Likes swords
6. Cassandra (Cassie/Cass) Cain?
Maybe her surname is cain? Or maybe it's not?
I'm really confused because I'm pretty sure there is both a Cass and a Cassie in the Child-soldier Justice League and I think one of them is a bat-family member and one of them has something to do with Wonder Woman and they may or may not be the same person
Was an assassin involved in the same organisation as Jason and Damien
Is this where Bruce Wayne is finding his kids?
Was a Robin too (yay for feminism, boo for originality? Get some other names for your feral murder children Bruce)
Now called Spoiler and likes purple
May have at one point been batgirl?
7. Duke ???
Honestly I have no idea, I've just seen his name a couple of times
He was probably Robin at some point - they all appear to have been Robin at some point
I think he likes the colour yellow
8. Stephanie Brown
Another person that I have only vaguely seen the name of
She might have dated one of the batkids, Tim maybe?
May or may not be a batkid herself
May be batgirl, or maybe that was Cassandra, or maybe both. There have been so many robins nothing would surprise me
9. Barbara (Babs) Gordon
Daughter of a police commissioner
hacker
Her father may or may not be aware of her extracurriculars, but Commissioner Gordon has a massive flashlight for summoning batman when he needs help with a case so I don't think he has any room to talk
Goes by Oracle
Not a proper batkid but I doubt that stops her being on the family Christmas card
May have at one point been a Batgirl?
But at this point I'm just guessing everyone was batgirl
Maybe Duke was batgirl!
May use a wheelchair but I'm not certain
10. Alfred Pennyworth
Indeterminate age, may be immortal
Bruce's bulter
Raised Bruce Wayne, but still calls him 'Master Bruce'
Also refers to the batkids as 'master xx'
May or may not be sarcasm
English, ex-army and all-round exceedingly polite badass
Correction, he's English, I can say with confidence it is sarcasm
That is all the people I can think of, sorry if I missed anyone
#batman#batfam#batfamily#i know nothing#maybe this amuses someone#sorry if I got anything wrong#bruce wayne#dc robin#robin#dcu#dc universe#dc comics#red robin#red hood#jason todd#dick grayson#damien wayne#alfred pennyworth#stephanie brown#cassandra cain#barbara gordon#text post

Head cannon for the Batkids:
So, we’re all aware that out of all Bruce’s kid Tim is the only one that’s ever gotten away with lying to him on more than one occasion.
And we know how smart he is, right, so if over the years he just keep doing it, lying to Bruce, about small things that wouldn’t really harm anyone. Just so he could observe and keep track of how much he can get a way with, for future reference of course.
But he gets so good at it that Bruce, Bat “the most paranoid person on the planet” man, immediately trusts his words, just like that.
Honestly why wouldn’t he? Tim hasn’t given him anything to doubt. He’d been carful over the years. 1-Hiding his tracks, 2-being overly truthful, 3-keeping his reputation as clean as possible.
1-He breaks something? Bruce wouldn’t know, cause he hid the evidence, bought a replica or straight up gaslights Bruce into thinking it never existed.
2-He stirs up trouble with the YJ, he’d tell Bruce with all honesty what happened, to the point where Bruce just expects the truth when Tim reports a mission to him, unbeknownst to him, that half of it is lies.
3-He keeps this up in his years as Robin to stay in his good graces, obviously, he’s polite, diligent, reliable and responsible, who wouldn’t trust a boy that’s so mature for his age?
Of course then his sibling find out about this certain skill of his and employ him to lie for them.
——————————
Dick, broke a chandelier he was not supposed to be swinging on? No problem; Timmy’s on it:
Dick: *tries giving Tim the puppy dog eyes that have virtually no effect on him*
Tim: *sends him an unimpressed look*
Tim: Bruce, just look at that ancient looking chandelier and tell me it wasn’t going to fall on someone’s head one day or the other?
Bruce: …
Tim: *sighs exasperatedly*
Tim: Do you have such little faith in your own son that you would believe he would endanger himself doing something that could potentially injure him, that you specifically told him not to do.
Tim: *sends a pointed look towards dick*
Dick: *sends him a sheepish smile*
Bruce: …
Bruce: *relents*
Bruce: I guess you’re right.., and the chandelier is quite old,..I’ll have to buy a replacement..
Bruce: *walks away*
Tim: You owe me, for this.
Dick: Yeah, I know, but thanks anyway Timmy!
——————————
Jason, scratched the Batmobile, he wasn’t permitted to drive? Bribe Tim; to deal with Bruce:
Jason: I’ll cook for you, anything you want, as payment.
Tim: *sighs*
Tim: Bruce, are you really sure you were careful with the Batmobile, last nigh? I seem to remember, you were in quite a rush to catch up to two-face, who was escaping in his getaway car.
Bruce: I checked on it last night, and don’t remember any scratches…
Tim: You were dead on your feet last night, barley even able to change out of your gear, write a full report, then head to bed, it shouldn’t be surprising that you missed a few scratches on the car.
Bruce: …
Bruce: I guess so… I’ll just have to keep a more attentive eye on it, next time…
Bruce: *walks away*
Tim: I’ll be expecting breakfast burritos, to appear on my plate, in the morning.
Jason: You can expect anything you want, and I’ll make it happen, after that save, nerd-bird.
——————————
Damian, snuck in an injured cat to take care of, before sending them off to the shelter? ‘Force’ Drake, to help:
Damian: While I usually wouldn’t resort to you for assistance, Drake, I must reluctantly admit, I am in need of it.
Tim: I’ll only agree, if you name the cat Drake.
Damian, who already named the long haired, black furred, blue eyed cat, after Tim: Very well.
Later on:
Bruce: *spots the new cat*
Bruce: Tim, is it just me or does Alfred the cat look.. different.
Tim: I’m not sure what you’re talking about, B.
Bruce: I could have sworn his eyes were yellow, not blue?..
Tim: Are you sure, though? Perhaps you’re mistaken. Maybe it’s a trick of the light? There’s a lot of reasons, as to why you could have mistaken the cat’s eye colour.
Bruce: …
Bruce: I guess… if you say so…
Later, later on:
Damian: Drake, Drake, the cat, has been adopted, as of late, by a loving and nurturing family (as loving and nurturing a family can be, in Gotham).
Tim: Cool.
——————————
Cassandra wants Bruce to attend her recital, but he’s busy? Ask Tim for help:
Bruce: Odd, I remember I had a few more cases to finish today…
Tim: Ohhh, those? Yeah, you gave them to me, not long ago.
Bruce: …I did?
Tim: Yeah! Just last night, when you told me you promised cass, you’d attend her recital, tonight. So I suggested, to handle those cases for you.
Bruce: …
Bruce: That does seem like something I’d do, thanks for reminding me, Tim, I’m glad I can count on you.
Tim: Of course, B.
Later on:
Cass, hugging Tim; to show her appreciation.
——————————
Duke, may or may not have skipped school after first period? Get Tim to help:
Tim: Bruce, is the school absolutely sure, he hadn’t attended his classes, I mean you can obviously see, from the security camera, that he entered the school gates this morning.
Bruce: The teachers stated that he didn’t answer when his name was called in class, and that they didn’t see him all day, on school grounds. None of the security cameras captured any sight of him, other than when he entered, through the gates.
Tim: Ohhh, I see, he must’ve been honing his bat-skills, you know sneaking around, undetected, in school, that must be why no one noticed him, not even the security cameras.
Bruce: …
Bruce: You’re right. I’ll be speaking to the principal about the staff’s inability to locate him, when he was obviously on school grounds.
Bruce: Then, I’ll talk to Duke about refraining from using his bat-skills in our civilian lives. Even if it’s for training purposes. Although I’ll have to commend him, for attending the whole day, undetected.
Later on:
Duke: Are you sure I can’t do something to repay you, I mean, you saved my hide, just now.
Tim: Well.. there is this new juice bar I’ve been wanting to check out, I could use the company.
Duke: No way! I heard about it too, hold on let my grab my phone, then we can head out.

Mouth of Infinity
A Percy Jackson x DC crossover
Summary:
“Lying on their stomach on the other side of the roof was a boy his age. Percy knew the kid. He was in fourth grade class, but he didn’t really talk to the others. Preferring to stick by himself and fiddle with the camera he took with him everywhere.”
Tim and Percy are Best Friends and you can pry that from my cold, dead hands
****************************************
Percy grunted, pulling himself up and over the last rung of the ladder. The concrete-asphalt of the roof beneath him dug into his back uncomfortably, but he was just glad that he didn’t have to climb anymore. A light drizzle had begun to fall during his climb, making everything the tiniest bit slippery, but Percy didn’t mind. He liked the rain. It was calming and peaceful and if he was delusional enough, he could pretend it was the ocean. With gentle waves crashing ashore over and over again.
He sat up, eyes trailing over the various shades of white and yellow from the apartments and offices of the buildings around him. With one hand, he traced the imaginary lines that connected them to each other like constellations. One cluster looked like the Pleiades, another a wonky Corvus, there were quite a few rams, and if he squinted and tilted his head almost all the way upside down there was an Orion. But that wasn’t what he was there for.
Lying on their stomach on the other side of the roof was a boy his age. A large hoodie dwarfed his body and the hood was pulled up to hide his head, but the kid size eight Robin inspired sketchers that gave him away. Percy knew the kid. He was in fourth grade class, but he didn’t really talk to the others. Preferring to stick by himself and fiddle with the camera he took with him everywhere.
“Hey Tim, what’cha doing?” Percy laid next to him, peering around his hand to see what was on his camera.
“Ah!” Tim yelped and tucked the device close to his chest. “Percy? What are you doing here?”
“I could ask you the same thing, you know,” He retaliated. “What were you taking pictures of?”
“Batman and Robin.” Tim brought the camera closer to Percy, showing off the amateur shots. They were pretty good if Percy had to say so himself. Some were a bit blurry, but the best one was of Jason sitting next to his favorite gargoyle. Mouth open in a smile as if he was laughing with the stone statue. Another one had Jason with his arms wrapped around Bruce’s neck, little green booties barely touching the ground beneath him.
Percy knew his dad was Batman and that his brother was Robin. Hell, the first time they met Bruce (technically) was when Jason was stealing the tires off the Batmobile. But Percy wasn’t really interested in being a Robin like his brother or like Dick. It just didn’t call to him the same way it did for Jason. And besides, Jason had to worry about Percy ever since Catherine died, he didn’t want his big brother to worry about him jumping around Gotham with a target on his back. And Jason was happy being Robin, Percy didn’t want to take that from him.
That doesn’t mean Percy wasn’t down in the cave with them though. He had a spot next to Alfred on comms and was a pretty good stitch when needed. He trained with Jason when he wanted and helped with cases as best he could—he wasn’t the best detective—and Bruce didn’t seem to mind when Percy put on his cowl and pretend to be him.
“Can you print this one for me?” Percy pointed to the camera. “It looks cool.” It was a simple portrait shot of the dynamic duo. Their backs faced the camera but Jason had turned to face Bruce, a wide smile and his hands in the air, as if he was talking animatedly about something. Bruce was giving him a smile, listening intently at his middle child.
“You sure?” Tim asked hesitantly.
“Yeah! I think it’s cool, do you have more?” Percy smiled and tucked his arms further under him. “How many do you have, I’ve seen you mess with your camera, like, all year, so you gotta have a whole bunch, right?” Tim nodded his head. “Neat! You wanna come over after school? You can bring your pictures over and tell me how you got them because , dude, if you’re climbing buildings every night to get them, you gotta be like, hella ripped.”
“You want me to come over?”
“Heck yeah! You’re a cool dude,” Percy said. “And you seem like you need friends. I don’t have any because no one wants to be with a street rat, they’re all too stuck up and snobby.”
“Especially Marie,” Tim chuckled.
“Don’t even get me started on Marie!” Percy groaned and dragged his hand over his face dramatically, smiling when Tim laughed.
Their conversation flowed naturally after that. Their laughter echoing in the alley below and making the lights of Gotham seem a little brighter. They talked about anything and everything that came to mind, and Tim was the first person besides Jason, Alfred, or Bruce who listened to his marine rants. He seemed genuinely interested with what Percy had to say, which was a relief, and in exchange Percy listened to Tim babble about the various heroes around the world.
They had to say goodbye to each other when the moon was beginning its decent, but they picked up their conversation in the morning as if they hadn’t stopped. It hadn’t seem to stop either, as the days go on, the two seemed joint at the hip. They played some amalgamation of Batman and Robin or Batman and Joker during recess, Percy would show Tim how to skateboard in the long drive way of Wayne Manor, Tim would teach Percy photography.
It wasn’t a rare sight to see them at the manor after school either, or following Jason like ducklings during galas. The few times Dick had been there, he tried to ignore Jason and Percy, but Tim was adamant about seeing him. And Percy knew why. Tim had been there the night the Graysons fell, sure, he was like three, but he was there! He saw them do the quadruple somersault in person before their untimely demise and he really wanted to talk to him about something.
“He doesn’t like us, Tim,” Percy said one gala night. He tugged at the collar of his suit, hating the feeling of it around his throat, but Alfred would get mad if he loosened his tie. Because if Percy did it, then Jason would think it’s okay. And then Bruce would do it too because both his sons were doing it, and he didn’t want to be the odd man out. (Dick wasn’t wearing a tie this time, a way to rebel against Bruce.)”I told you that.”
“I know but I gotta talk to him,” Tim wiped his hands on the napkin. They had a good little pile of hor dourves between them and had been snacking while their parents – Percy’s dad more like since Tim’s parents were still in Barbados – mingled. “It’s important.”
“If it’s important you can tell me,’ Percy turned in his seat. “I can try to tell him after the gala when we go back to the manor.”
Tim seemed to think about this for a second, this eyes darting back and forth between the crowd and Percy. “Okay,” He lent to Percy’s ear, hands cupped to prevent someone from reading his lips and he whispered. “I know Dick is Nightwing.”
Percy pulled back, eyes wide as he stared back at his best friend. He didn’t know exactly when Tim pieced it together that Dick was Nightwing, and he was absolutely positive he hadn’t spilled anything. But Percy knew Tim was a smart kid, one of the smartest in the school, so it shouldn’t be a surprise. But if Tim knew that Dick was Nightwing, did he also know that Bruce was Batman? Or that Jason is Robin?
“H-huh? Wh-what? What do you mean?” Percy stuttered. He was going to be in so much trouble. Bruce was going to think Percy spilled the beans – even though he didn’t – and he was going to be punished – thirty burpees and washing all the vehicles in the vehicle bay for a month – and he was probably not going to be allowed in the cave after that again. “How-how did you figure that?”
“The Graysons are the only ones that can do a perfect quadruple somersault,” Tim stated as if that was a fact, and it was unfortunately. “There’s a video of you-know-who doing one, so it wasn’t hard to connect the dots after that.”
“So you know?” Percy confirmed.
“Did you know?”
“Of course I knew!”
“But you…don’t go with them, how did you know?”
“I live with them, it’d be pretty awkward if I didn’t.”
“Ah, yeah, that makes sense.”
“And besides,” Percy shoved a cracker in his mouth. “The first time Jason and I met him, Bruce was you-know-who.”
“Really?! Wow,” Tim sighed wistfully. “Was it scary?”
“The first time yeah, the second he was just a big softy and took us home.”
“Huh.”Percy grunted, pulling himself up and over the last rung of the ladder.
Thinking about how Jason Todd, aka the second robin, is the embodiment of Batman's choices.
Like Dick Grayson became the robin by his own choice, to avenge his dead parents. he chose his own name, wore his own leotard and kicked ass. Batman literally could not stop Dick from going out and kicking criminals in the ass no matter how hard he tried.
Tim Drake's robin was born from Tim's desperation to save Batman from himself. Tim chose to take robin so that Batman doesn't start tarnishing the legacy that robin left behind.
Damain wasn't even his choice. Granted, Bruce was in love with Talia, but Talia told Bruce that the kid Died even before it was born. Damain was all Talia's choices. She chose to raise Damain with assassins. She chose to show their kid to Bruce when Damian is old enough to make his own choices. Damain chose to take robin from Tim no matter what it takes.
but Jason.
Jason is Bruce's choice. Batman chose to take Jason home after Jason tried to steal the tires of the batmobile. Bruce Wayne chose to raise Jason as his kid despite the fact that he could've just relocated Jason somewhere else.
Batman chose to make Jason his robin. Batman chose to give the robin title the Dick outgrew to Jason. He chose to make them equals, to show that he trusts Jason.
but Jason is also the embodiment of Batman's worst choices that later became his regret
Batman chose to not reassure Jason when Jason was pleading Batman to believe his innocence after everyone thought he killed Garzonas.
Batman chose to let Jason stay with his mother after Jason went searching for him.
Batman chose to trust a woman he never knew with his son.
Batman was too late. Jason died and it was because of his choices.
And when Jason was dead, he still embodied Batman's choices. Batman chose to throw himself off the deep end with his grief fueling his cruelty.
And when Jason came back, angry, he still embodied Batmans choices.
Batman chose to hunt the red hood on the off chance that its really Jason, with nothing but his hunches backing him up.
Batman chose to let red hood run around practically free. Batman chose to stop red hood from ending joker. Batman chose to throw that batarang that cut Jason's throat. Batman chose to let go of Jason even though he grieved that exact kid he raised for years.
Batman chose to form a truce with the red hood. Batman chose to trust the red hood even tho Jason strayed too far from his own beliefs. Batman chose to take what he can get just so his son stops being estranged.
anyways i think jason todd is really neat and i love him

Batfam meets Carrie Kelley
Ok, I need the main timeline Batfam to meet Carrie Kelley.
And not in a writers just throw all the different timeline robins into one family, or a crack social media fic. I need proper post-Dark Knight Returns Carrie to universe travel or something and meet this Bruce Wayne and his family. Like, her life is wild. She is a pre-Tim Robin. She got introduced before Jason died?! Her characterisation is built up off Dick, off the original concept of Robin, as a symbol and nothing more, not really a mantle, but an idea. She is a whole different kettle of fish from the modern Batfam and modern interpretation and retconning and rewriting of the Robins, the Robin mantle and the Batfam, not even getting into the fact she's from the 80s. She actively lives in the 80s, like Reagan is president, modern technology is non existent and all that.
Like, from an outside perspective, Carrie's Robin is the leader of a guerrilla paramilitary Batman cult and vigilante organisation, with hundreds of "Sons of Batman". And sure, Bruce is behind the scenes, teaching and truly organising, being supported by pirate-coded, one-armed Oliver, but no one else knows that. To the outside world? Carrie's the big boss. And she's this tiny little pipsqueak in scaly shorts who just so happens to swear like a sailor or a goon on Gotham Docks. It's hilarious. The Batfam would be so confused and concerned about this girl. She has almost no training before going out, she literally got boot-camped in the like 2 weeks Bruce had between meeting her for the first time, where she proceeded to jump in the batmobile, set his arm and sass him, and him then having to go fight Superman and have a heart attack and fake his death.
And that's the other part! They would lose their mind about what the hell is going on in her world?? Vigilantism got outlawed?! People got forced to retire, leave the planet/country or face consequences. Oliver lost an arm?? Clark is an arm of the United States forces, acting as an attack dog pointed wherever Reagan wants?? They fought and Bruce had a heart attack and died?! Well he didn't stay dead, which is actually in character, but what the fuck Carrie?? And I just need her to be so nonchalant about everything that happened to her but also absolutely amazed by the technology and how many family members Bruce has. Also, seeing Bruce young is wild. She only knows old man grump Bruce, the true I work alone Batman. Seeing this Bruce and his family would be wild to her.
Also, the way that she would react to Bruce would be so interesting. Cause all of his kids are in fact his kids, yeah, even Steph to some extent, but Carrie? She's his Robin first, his student second. And his child never. Can you imagine the "good soldier" conversation? Whether that be her mentioning him saying it to her or her finding Jason's plaque (which by the way was Alfred's doing, which adds so many more layers to it) and being all like, awww it's lovely. And everyone else is horrified, including Bruce, cause he's realised that that is not how he should compliment his children and that is not a healthy means of declaration of care. But for Carrie that is true and it is what she is and she appreciates it. Because she is not his kid, and I don't think she really wants to be, she has parents, though they clearly don't pay too close attention to her if she's able to jump out windows and fight crime regularly, but she still has existing parents that fill that position in her life and Bruce is much more a martial arts sensei or a favourite strict teacher to her.
Like, she cares about the dude and all, but when they're sat around and Dick or one of the family members starts prodding Bruce about feelings and his personal life or whatever, she gets awkward, cause that's not her business. That's like seeing your teacher at the supermarket. She sees Bruce in the cave, during training and when he's giving advice, he's not a real person with a life, he's an NPC in her life, she jokes that he already fulfilled his dead sensei anime plot device when he faked his death for Superman, so now she sometimes ignores him when he's being pigheaded and pretends he's a ghost. BUT! That would be so confusing for the Batfam, cause yeah, he's their teacher too, their trainer and mentor, but he's also a parental figure in their lives, there's more to him and how they perceive him and having one without the other would confuse them so much. So when they see she's awkward about him being emotionally open they take it as a sign that they need to try hard and bring her into the fold, teach her how to get her Bruce to open up and she's just fully like, nuh huh, absolutely not, I don't wanna know any of that.
I just really want Carrie to be explored more in canon and in the fandom, beyond just an easter egg appearance, she's so interesting and so underexplored.

Another thing I need people to stop just saying like it's the truth is that Bruce picked up Tim as Robin immediately after Jason died, or that Tim forced his way into being Robin.
Now, of course, there is the caveat that Jason can come back into town thinking that it was the case, he was dead and Talia informed him of the changes in Gotham, so we don't know how accurately he was informed. Another caveat is that Tim can grow up thinking he forced his way into it because he does argue for it at a point, but I need no one else who had a fully developed mind and was there saying it. Okay? Okay.
So, let's tackle the first one. Jason Todd gets an official death certificate in the Daedalus and Icarus Annual explaining how he came back showing his date of death as 4/27/19xx (since comics are always meant to be contemporary unless stated otherwise, we can just ignore the year). The DC Encyclopedia had a death certificate too, but it had a lot of odd details, not least his height and weight being more in line for a 10 year old than a 15 year old (the Titans comic put his height at 5'4" when he died), so I'm going to use the comics certificates over that when they conflict, but the Batman Annual also lists his date of death as 4/27 (why is it a Gotham City Death Certificate when he died in Ethiopia? I have no clue).

(Batman Annual 25)

(New Titans Vol 1 55)

(DC Encyclopedia)
Tim Drake appears after Jason dies when Bruce Wayne is going a little crazy as Batman. He specifically shows up during a break week from school.
(Batman 1940 #441)
Given that he could only have a Break Week feasibly in November for teacher conferences, December for Christmas/New Year's, or March/April for Easter, and the greenery outside show that it's neither November nor December, he's therefore shown up for his Spring Break. Since that would never be after April 27th, then he has to be there at least the first Spring Break following Jason's death, so about a year later.
He shows up and begs Dick to become Robin again to save Bruce from himself.
(Batman 1940 #441)
You see, this is interesting. He's explaining all his best qualities, not as a way to say "I'm right for the job" but to awkwardly (as only Tim Drake can) explain how much Batman and Robin mean to him, and how much they've influenced his life, to show how committed he is to this idea to back-up his assessment that Batman needs Dick as Robin again.
Dick is very adamant in his refusal to step back into the Robin role.
(Batman 1940 #441)
Both Alfred and Dick(Maybe? unless it's just Alfred being the drama again, but Dick did leave his old Robin costume out on the side before leaving) suggest Tim should pick up the costume. And he does only hours later, when Dick and Batman's signals have disappeared after going to confront Two-Face. Tim is feeling guilt over Nightwing possibly being dead because he got involved, he's worried sick about his heroes, and Tim has to go help because he is not built for sitting back and worrying.
(Batman 1940 #442)
At this point, he does start trying to convince both himself and Batman that he should be Robin, but only seriously after Alfred and Dick start hyping Tim up as well. Bruce is not having it. Like. At all.
(Batman 1940 #442)
They go to track down Two-Face and the confrontation ends with Tim nearly getting crushed to death as a pile of cars in the junkyard are toppled over onto the Batmobile, where he's been instructed to wait.
(Batman 1940 #442)
The confrontation ends with Bruce punching Two-Face and telling him that he can't kill Batman or Nightwing (Or Robin?) Or Robin!
Afterwards, after all the adrenaline has worn off and they're back in the manor in their normal clothes, Tim starts to back off of being Robin. He's still super stoked for having had the chance to fight criminals with his heroes, he's 13, give him a break. Please and thank you.
At this point it is Alfred, Dick, and Bruce who cement Tim going into training to become Robin. Yes, because of his logic, but also, like. I think Bruce knows deep down he needs someone to work with just as much as everyone else does. And Tim already knows his secret, and this is the easiest way to keep him quiet. Also, Bruce. Fucking. Communicate better. Jesus.
(Batman 1940 #442)
And then Tim's training begins, but he won't become Robin until the following Christmas. And only after he saves Bruce because he's been captured by Scarecrow and is being tortured with fear toxin with Vikki Vale. Tim was ordered to stay home, but again, he is incapable to standing back and not helping when he thinks there's a problem (this is a good and heroic character trait). This time, he doesn't wear the costume because he can't bear the idea of failing in it, so he dons a ski mask and comes in, gets dosed with fear toxin while saving Batman and beating Scarecrow and runs away before the cops show. Tim believes this means he'll never be Robin, that Bruce will fire him from training, but at least Bruce is alive. When Tim explains this all to Bruce, Bruce says the rules are there for a reason, but sometimes it's okay to break them when justified and gives Tim a new Robin costume.
(Batman 1940 #457)

Tear-Stained Cheeks
Dick turns to Bruce.
“How long has he been gone again?”
It feels like we’ve been looking for him forever, but it can’t have been that long, right? There’s no way he’s dead either. That’s just not possible.
“Almost seven weeks now.”
It’s definitely possible, even probable now.
“Where else is there to look?”
“We’ve searched all of Gotham, so we have to expand from there. Joker hasn’t uttered a single peep since he took Tim, and has given us nothing to go off of. I’m not sure what to do at this point.”
“Have you asked Clark to-”
“Yes, and he can’t find him either. I don’t know why, I didn’t stick around to ask. I had better leads to follow if he couldn’t help.”
“That’s fair, I guess. So, where do you want to start?”
“I’m going to start in this area right outside of Gotham, and I want you to start in this city to the North of us,” Bruce says, pointing out a specific spot on the map. “I’ll give you details about the city, and where we’re more likely to find something. Where to start, and where to go from there. I stayed up doing research on both of these cities, so I have everything we could possibly need to know.”
Dick doesn’t say anything since he didn’t sleep last night either. He takes the papers that Bruce offers to him, and he starts reading through them as he heads out to his car. Bruce gets into the Batmobile, and speeds away. Dick continues to his car, reading all of the information that Bruce compiled. It’s everything he might need to know about the city, the crime there, and none of the extra stuff that he doesn’t need to know.
He gets into his car, and drives there, going way over the speed limit and getting there in less than half an hour. He’s searching his third warehouse when his comm crackles.
“You need to get down here. I think I found them,” Bruce says, his voice shaking.
“Ok, just send me the coordinates, and I’ll be there as fast as I can.”
He races to meet Bruce, but it still takes him almost an hour to get there. The place ends up being a crumbling building with almost all of the windows broken. The quiet dissipates the closer Dick gets to the building. Laughing and crying could be heard, and it’s almost enough to stop Dick in his tracks. He considerably slows down even though he’s dealt with the Joker enough to know how bad it could be.
That’s part of why he slows down. He’s not quite ready to see what’s going on yet. However, he continues following the laughter, which is dwindling into more tears. It’s startling to realize that the person who’s crying is also the person who’s laughing, and it sounds just like the Joker.
What could that possibly mean?
He reaches a door, and he can hear soft words. Not loud enough that he can tell what they’re saying, but enough to know that it’s his dad saying it. He opens the door quietly, and takes a quick look around the room. Joker is in one corner of the room, his face almost nothing more than blood and Dick can definitely see a bit of his skull where his forehead is supposed to be.
Bruce, still in full costume, is in the middle of the room, cradling a child to his chest. The child has green hair, and a face full of makeup. He’s the spitting image of the man who’s killed so many people, and while the laughs are almost fully gone now, those sound just like him too.
Why is there a child here? He’s so small, and he looks young too.
It doesn’t dawn on Dick immediately. He steps forward, wondering what’s happening. The child is just sobbing now, holding onto Bruce’s cape. Bruce continues to whisper reassurances, even as tears fall down his own face. That’s when Dick finally sees it.
“Tim?” Dick whispers, his voice breaking at the end. His eyes fill with tears too, and they quickly slip down his face. “No.”
Bruce’s voice cracks, and he trails off, still cradling Tim as close as he can. Dick drops to his knees beside them. He reaches out, and brushes the stray hair off of Tim’s face. He’s done that so many times, but this time it isn’t soft black hair under his fingers. Tim also normally glances up to give Dick a smile, or leans into his hand, but he doesn’t do that this time. He flinches, his breath catching.
Bruce is shaking, but he’s trying not to jostle Tim too much, and Dick’s hand is still just an inch away from Tim. He’s shaking like a leaf, and already feels like he’s going to throw up.
“What did-?”
“I don’t know,” Bruce whispers, clutching Tim just a little bit tighter.
Tim has started to go limp in Bruce’s hold, his eyes unfocused. They stay like that for a long time before Bruce finally rises onto shaking legs.
“Is he?” Dick asks, looking at Joker.
“I don’t know, but it’s likely at this point. There’s too much blood. Can you call Gordon? I don’t want Tim to be here when he shows up, but I don’t want to take any risks with them.”
“Where’s Harley?”
“She’s in the kitchen. I slammed her face into the counter, and I don’t know if she’s still ok. Normally I’d have worried about medical assistance before now, but I just-” he trails off again, looking back at the child in his arms.
“I get it. I’ll handle Gordon and those two. Just get him home, and call Leslie, ok?”
Bruce nods, and slowly makes his way out of the room. Dick approaches Joker slowly, and leans down to check his pulse. He finds Harley and does the same thing before grabbing his phone. Gordon answers almost immediately since he’s been working on finding Tim with them too.
“Nightwing, did you find something?”
“Yeah. I’m going to send you an address, and you need to get down here.”
Gordon picks up on his tone immediately.
“Is there a rush?”
“No rush. You won’t even need men for an escort, or anything.”
“Robin isn’t…”
“Robin is not dead.”
“Oh thank God.”
“Joker and Harley are though.”
“What?” Gordon’s shocked reply is breathless and quiet.
“They’re dead. Robin is in bad shape, but Batman already left with him. We’re going to do what we can, and I’ll fill you in on the details later. For now, I just need you to come deal with their bodies.”
It’s quiet for a minute, then, “Ok, I’ll be there as soon as I can. Just send me the address, and I’ll get started.”
“Hurry, I want to get home.”
Gordon hums, and hangs up. Dick sits on the ground, trying to process what happened until Gordon shows up. Dick leaves almost immediately after that, ignoring Gordon’s questions regarding Tim. It’s not like he really has that much information to give him in the first place, but he wasn’t in the mood to talk even if he did. So, he just keeps walking until he gets to his car. Then he goes home to meet Bruce and Tim. Bruce is sitting alone in the main area of the cave, so Dick sits next to him.
“What did Leslie have to say?”
“She said that he doesn’t seem to remember us. He was drugged, and tortured. He’s convinced that his name is Joker Junior, and that Joker and Harley were his parents. He’s confused, and can’t seem to grasp what she asks him. His cognitive function is not great, and his mind is shattered. She doesn’t know how much of it is fixable, but apparently she has some hope for the situation. He’s sedated, and she’s looking into rehabilitation places that could do this on the down low.”
“So what do we do from here?”
“We support him, and we do whatever we have to for him to get better.”
Dick leans against Bruce.
“I can’t believe we failed another one.”
Bruce hums.
“I’ve been thinking the same thing since I got here. We have a chance to make this one better though.”
“I hope so.”

Look out, it's time for the Potted Fanon History of the one, the only...BRUCE WAYNE!
Bruce, 8: His parents were shot dead by [Someone/Joe Chill/the Mafia] outside the theatre in Park Row where they just saw Zorro. Kneeling in blood, pearls, etc etc.
Bruce, 8: Jim Gordon was the cop who responded to the scene and took care of Bruce.
Bruce, 8: Alfred takes custody of Bruce and they live in the Manor together.
Bruce, 12-16 (optional): Bruce attends school with people like Oliver Queen and Lex Luthor (at a boarding school), or Zatanna and Harvey Dent (at a regular Gotham school). Bruce is known as the cryptid who hides in the library reading forensic pathology textbooks in his free time.
Bruce, 16-18: Bruce finishes school and embarks on a Secret World Training Tour. Highlights of the Tour definitely involve the League of Assassins and probably several nameless monks. Bruce may have an intense homoerotic relationship with Minhkhoa Khan. The following individuals may be namechecked but are unlikely: [Shiva, David Cain, Henri Ducard, Richard Dragon]
Bruce, World Training Tour Edition: Bruce will first meet Talia at this time, and they may get married/conceive Damian. Do not look at the timeline too closely.
Bruce, early-mid 20s: returns to Gotham, is reminded that he is scared of bats. "Yes father, I will become...a Bat!"
Bruce, early-mid 20s: has encounter with An Individual (name varies, solidifying to 'Red Hood' these days as everyone's hung up on Jason) in the ACME Chemical company vats, the other person falls into the chemicals. The Joker is born hahahahahahahHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Bruce, mid 20s: meets Superman and Clark Kent, they simultaneously figure each other's identities out. Shortly after they form the Justice League with Wonder Woman.
Bruce, mid 20s: Bruce goes out for the night to see Haly's Circus when it visits town. Graysons fall, Bruce sees crying kneeling Dick Grayson and immediately imprints on him and takes him home.
Bruce, mid 20s: Dick Grayson becomes Bruce's Ward (TM). Dick also becomes Robin. They swear an Oath (TM) by candlelight to "fight together against crime and corruption and never to swerve from the path of righteousness!" (Actually I don't think the words of the oath are that well known but I couldn't help myself)
Bruce, mid 20s: has many undetailed adventures with Dick. I cannot reinforce how big a blank hole this period is.
Bruce, early 30s ish: Bruce runs into Talia and sleeps with her again (as written by people who CAN count to 10)
Bruce, 30s: Dick gets injured during a fight. Maybe with Joker, maybe with Two-Face, quite possibly with no details. Bruce tries to ground Dick for his own good. Bruce and Dick have a big fight over Dick being an adult now and you can’t tell me what to do. End result: Dick is no longer Robin and moves out (to Blüdhaven). Bruce immediately sulks.
Bruce, 30s: Batman parks his Batmobile in the middle of Crime Alley and comes back to find the tyres being jacked. The teenager attempting this then hits Batman with a tyre iron. Bruce, missing Dick yelling at him, is immediately charmed and takes Jason home and proceeds to instantly adopt him and make him Robin.
Bruce, 30s: Bruce learns about classism from Jason. Bruce Wayne, a man with the biggest charities running in Gotham, years of criminology experience and who travelled the poorest parts of the world in his quest for training, had never contemplated that poor people commit crime because they’re poor and the laws are against them. This rocks his world.
Bruce, 30s: Bruce fails to call Dick to tell him about his new adopted Jason!Robin. Dick comes over to have a screaming match with Bruce in the Manor/Cave about this. These will be a regular feature of Jason’s entire time as Robin.
Bruce, late 30s: Felipe Garzonas occurs. Bruce accuses Jason of killing Garzonas. Bruce will shortly feel intense guilt for this.
Bruce, late 30s: Jason runs away to Ethiopia and is blown by the Joker in a warehouse. Bruce arrives just out of time, to find Jason's body. He is devastated and blames both himself and Jason. He takes Jason's body back to Gotham where there is an autopsy. Joker just disappears with no trace.
Bruce, late 30s: gets more and more violent in his despair over Jason's death. Tim comes to him to explain why Batman is going off the rails and offers to be Robin.
Bruce, middle aged (don't look too closely): Bruce accepts Tim as his new Robin, however insists they are Just Coworkers. He may still be suicidal at times. He probably calls Tim 'Jason' by accident. He insists he never wants to be close to another child again.
Bruce, middle aged: Bruce comes face to face with Bane, who Breaks His Back (TM). Bruce then recovers. This is a very important moment, however any details of the recovery or who was Batman in the interim are unknown. Good job, Gotham healthcare services set up by Thomas Wayne!
Bruce, middle aged: Bruce becomes worried about Tim's parents (as he's reluctantly become attached to Tim). They are never around, which is how Tim manages to be Robin. They are definitely neglecting him. They might be abusing him! Bruce either fosters Tim because of his terrible neglectful parents OR Janet dies and Jack ends up in a coma and Bruce fosters Tim. Either way, Bruce becomes Tim's guardian.
Bruce, middle aged: there's a new crime lord in Gotham called the Red Hood. Batman must track him down. Bruce discovers that this is Jason. Jason begs for Bruce to kill the Joker to avenge his death and Bruce refuses because He Has A Code. Bruce throws a batarang at Jason's neck and slits his throat.
Bruce, JLA edition: at some point Bruce made some Protocols, or possibly some Killer Robots, just in case someone else on the Justice League goes evil. The rest of the Justice League find this out, due to this situation going wrong and the plans being activated by something. Everyone on the Justice League gets very upset with Bruce.
Bruce, middle aged: at some point Bruce adopts Dick and Tim and Cass. Details of when or where are scanty. They're his kids now. Everyone moves into the Manor (except Dick, who visits from Bludhaven every weekend to see his siblings).
Bruce, middle aged: Talia drops Damian off on the doorstep. Bruce now has a (biological) son! Unfortunately Ra's Al Ghul wants to steal his body. Damian must be protected.
Bruce, middle aged: dies. How does this happen? What are you, a cop? Fortunately Bruce being ultraprepared for anything including incipient death, he has left extensive notes about who deals with what when he's dead. Dick gets custody of Damian (but only Damian). Tim gets Wayne Enterprises.
Bruce, middle aged: returns from being lost in time (not dead). Thanks, Tim. No I will not return to being the main Batman in Gotham or take back Wayne Enterprises, it's time for me to travel the world and create Batman Incorporated in every nation on Earth!
Bruce, middle aged: eventually returns home and moves back into the Manor. Damian is now his Robin. Everyone else may still be living in the Manor, may have moved out because of Sad Conflict Drama because Tim feels like he's Just A Coworker or Cass is In Hong Kong. Dick may or may not return to Bludhaven now.
Bruce, middle aged: begins to reconcile with Jason, because he finds out about Jason's Pit Rage and trauma. Jason promises to use Rubber Bullets or to just shoot people in the knee, and says he will patrol Crime Alley because nobody else understands it and the people inside it like him. Bruce is just fine with this.
Bruce, middle aged (Damian edition): Damian dies. Bruce is extremely distraught about this due to his trauma over Jason and immediately works to hunt down a way to resurrect Damian.
Bruce, middle aged: meets Duke and seeing another teenager who is trying to fight crime, immediately brings him home to foster/adopt.
Bruce, Good Dad edition: at some point Bruce has Seen A Therapist and gotten Therapy. He is now completely au fait with the latest things you read online about complex PTSD and is sorry for the hurt he has ever caused any of his children. He goes around talking his children down from disassociation and panic attacks and nightmares. He wraps them up in weighted blankets and watches TV shows You Like with them. He has a new Ace, who is a Therapy Dog for Trauma. When someone has a bad night the entire family sleeps in his giant bed as a sleepover. He is completely focused on the mental health of his children.
Bruce, Bad Dad edition: Bruce has punched Dick/Jason/Tim/Damian (choose whichever set you want) in the face and accused them of not following orders. He has rages and demanding expectations on everyone. Multiple of his children can no longer put up with it any more. He does bad things to them and says it's for their own good.
Bruce, currently: Bruce is a Good Dad! Everyone is either living at the Manor or stays over after patrol regularly. They have regular movie nights. Bruce is actively running Wayne Enterprises. If he sees an unattached teenage vigilante anywhere he might adopt them and bring them home too! He looks after all the associated Gotham vigilantes and does not know what money is worth. This is hilarious as he tips 3000% or whatever on every purchase.
Bruce, currently (alternatively): Bruce is a Bad Dad! After failing his children nobody wants to be near him and he needs to apologise to all his children so they forgive him. Bruce has left Damian for Dick to raise all by himself (that's ok, Dick is really Damian's adoptive dad) and Tim to struggle with the pressure of being a high school dropout CEO of Wayne Enterprises. He is fighting with Jason over the One Killing Rule and won't compromise, even to kill the Joker, despite Jason desperately wanting that proof that Bruce loves him more than he loves the killing rule.
Bruce, currently: Bruce is dating one of Selina, Talia, Clark or Minhkhoa. Whichever on this list he is dating, he would never ever consider getting with Selina and/or Talia again (delete whoever necessary).
#potted bat fanon histories#apologies for the delay but Bruce took some effort#additions for this edition are welcomed#bruce you have done everything (and nothing)
