I couldn’t figure out just how i wanted to draw the NA brothers so i did some brainstorming and these are the end result! I decided to go with them being half indigenous— but they of course never did represent any tribe whatsoever. They were “born” shortly after their founding. They didnt get many traits by their colonizers/founders, just a select few. America is thankfully exempt from the male pattern baldness, thank you Sweden for the good genes 🙏 I just wanted to be self indulgent and make them indigenous tbh. I love any version of the bros that the fandom creates! And the same goes for Australia, NZ too once I design him. Hetalia is too white /j

My favorite cryptid has to be 'The Great Lake Monster' of Östersund, Sweden. In Swedish it's called 'Storsjöodjuret' and is told to live in the lake Storsjön. Storsjöodjuret could very easily be compared to the Loch Ness Monster, some people joke that they are the same creature with a passageway between Sweden and Scotland. The monster was treated the same way as witches, giants and other evil spirits were back in the day, it was something you prayed for wouldn't catch in your fishing nets, and you told the children to not play in the water in fear that it would take them (I may have made that part up, I don't know that much about his past). But nowadays he's the towns mascot, he has multiple children's books and songs about him, he has fun statues around town you can play on, and he participates in the town events as a suit (I've actually been in one during a charity event for like 20 minutes, those things are warm and very hard to move in)!

I couldn't remember exactly, so I went back and searched Discord for images I sent and apparently it was just a super tame message.

The thing that made it significant, however, was the fact that I had never heard the Diggy Diggy Hole song before this year... despite having watched minecraft youtube videos since 2012. Somehow I missed that. A month or two ago I mentioned something from a different Impulse stream about diggy diggy and my friend @bibliobasilisk forced me to watch several iterations of the song (which I'm grateful for. It's a bop. As you would know).

So anyway I sent that screenshot to her like "hey look someone in chat said this" because i thought it was hilarious and then I was like "also I recognise their name from tumblr. unrelatedly". And then she was like "ah swedish tumblr, just looked them up" and then, being half swedish myself, I got hella excited:

And then I proceeded to scroll on your tumblr for like 20 minutes before unpausing the Impulse vod to continue watching. And I've been following you ever since then.

So a combination of me recognising your name, and my friend sussing out that you're Swedish (and the fact that diggy diggy is still relatively new to me) and bam. I'm here now.
