realising sevika is the best influence for jinx right now because sevika has always been a calculated yes-man. right now jinx is completely unmoored and trying to find purpose away from the voices of both silco and vi, and sevika is someone who seeks out the right people to work under, is a yes-man only if it aligns with what she thinks is right. sevika is utterly utterly perfect for helping guide jinx's destruction towards the right places, without trying to force her to do anything. now silco's gone, only those two carry the torch of his legacy - sevika knows she has no allies in the barons. but with jinx she has someone she trusts, an anchor in her grief as well as the spiralling situation and a capable one at that. sevika knows that jinx understands, and that means everything right now. jinx with sevika can find who she is without the voices, and can rely on the trust and loyalty of sevika to keep her from spiralling. she's already seen the ugly side of jinx, knows her fits and has proven that she'll push back, but not leave. jinx can trust herself through sevika. they're so perfect.

the thing that drives me sooo crazy about the jinx/isha/cait/vi confrontation is that for vi, it was a lose-lose situation. either caitlyn misses & accidentally hits isha (child witnesses enforcer violence), or caitlyn kills jinx in front of a child who cares for her (child STILL witnesses enforcer violence). Either situation parallels vi’s own past trauma. In that moment, it wasnt about jinx (at least not entirely). It was about vi’s catalyst for violent change about to be recreated and forced upon this child. Caitlyn said she understood how vi felt seeing her parents die, but demonstrated in this moment that she doesnt and literally CANT. caitlyn has never been on the other side or enforcer violence. the child didnt even compute to her—isha was just an obstacle to be avoided, not a person that will carry this experience forever. But vi’s been on the wrong end of a gun. She understood that no matter what, no matter who got hit, if she allowed caitlyn to shoot, vi would be recreating her own trauma. And THATS why she stopped cait

I needed this. I have a draft I've been going back and forth on posting where I talk about how I've always been in the "people are inherently good" camp and this election shook that belief.

But now, a few days later, I still think people are inherently good. They're just ignorant, whether willfully or kept that way through propaganda. And I can't change everyone's view, but I can still be kind in a country that's much more selfish and cruel than I thought.

Someone has to be.

I don’t regret being optimistic, by the way. I will never regret thinking better of people than maybe they deserve. I don’t know how thinking the worst of everyone always makes the world a better place.
