GUYSSS ANOTHER TRAIN CAME BY and not only that but i just met the coolest woman and her kid… apparently they come out to watch the amtraks like every day because the kid is OBSESSED with trains. we chatted for a while about them (i <3 amtraks) and also the surprising number of things me and the lady had in common. how did i just randomly connect with these strangers in town more than like anyone at my school?? train gods coming out here to answer my unspoken prayers I GUESS?

I HAVE!! i was going so crazy this morning like oooh my goodness this is RIGHT up my alley. i love speculative biology i love integrating the machine and the mythical and the mundane i love fictional societies and worldbuilding and i LOVE minecraft!! been thinking minecraft thoughts all day cause of her stuff :P

like, for example, if i were in the game universe i’d like to be a piglin. crimson forests are my faaavorite biome, i adore the nether atmosphere, and i’m super fascinated by piglin society.. and that led me to thinking about redesigning my REALLY OLD piglin oc.. which led me to thinking about artfight LOL i wonder if i’ll end up designing her in time for the event

another thought: if irl molluscs like mussels use byssal threads to attach to the shoreline… do you think shulkers use abyssal threads to attach to end islands? so many questions

Piglin

Hog-folk of the infernal nether. They’re in a post-apocalyptic state now, but they were once the most advanced civilization in Minecraft, even trumping the Ancient Builders. They use machines instead of magic.

Sows are slightly larger and fatter than males, with smaller tusks. Boars are more muscular, with bony faces and coarse black manes. Boars often adorn themselves with jewelry, body paint, and the like, to woo sows, and bachelors marry into groups run by old matriarchs. Sows of high rank in bastions usually have a harem of males serving both as concubines and bodyguards. Piglin are for the most part polyamorous.

They communicate in Piglish, a mixture of signing and vocalisations. Complex sentences are signed, and sounds are used as emotive context clues, like auditory tone tags.

Strider!

The most common fungivorous animal in the Nether. There are multiple subspecies split into two major groups — Terrestrial and magmatic (lava-walking). The largest species is the Black-footed Magmatic Strider (pictured) and they have been domesticated by piglin for meat, leather, and fiber string woven from their quills. They are also used as beasts of burden, and are useful for traversing the huge magma flats. Striders can detect vibrations through their wide feet, evolving the feature to detect the activity of ghasts and geothermal activity. They are the only non-porcine nether organism that gives birth to live young, though some more basal terrestrial species still lay eggs.

Players. Robots made by the ancient builders, put in stasis and made to awaken (‘spawn’) 1000 years after the apocalypse.

Alex was made to be a hunter, wanderer and identifier. She was captured by the illager empire shortly after awakening and subjected to torturous experimentation. She escaped, but not without terrible trauma and a taste for vengeance. Agoraphobic, abrasive, utilitarian, loyal, and resourceful.

Steve was made to be a builder, miner and engineer. He was taken in by villagers after wandering the world alone and afraid for an unknown amount of time. A cleric named Reinard taught him how to brew, read and write, and function in villager society. He is kind, shy, curious and naive. He likes people, but doesn’t know how to act around them.

Hero was the first player made. He is the only one who remembers the ancient civilization. Everything he knows is dead, except for the other two. The ones made to replace him.

Steve (my version). A naive and well-meaning country boy. He yearns to know something about himself. His past and existence perplexes himself and his fellow villagers. Nevertheless, the villagers are kind to him, and love him despite his strangeness.
