today i’m thinking about how it is kind of heartwrenching that one of the themes that tends to pop up in the drizzt books is that drow from menzoberranzan, who are most of the drow viewpoint characters, seem to be a bit less detached from other non-drow races than most other elves re: lifespans once they’re not so....culturally and socially indoctrinated into hating everybody that’s not them

and then you come to the realization that of course they don’t care about lifespans as much, they live in a meatgrinder of a society where a LOT of people routinely do not make it to 100 and do not expect to live well into adulthood, despite having the same kind of lifespan and maturity as every other elf

i feel like the mere idea of bringing up orym & ludinus and their entwined threads of fate is taboo, but i cant stop thinking about it.

orym is a rare, nearly impossible kind of protector - a guard, somehow not attached to a corrupt, brutal system. he just wishes to protect his home, his leader. but ludinus, via otohan, attacks this peaceful place. he turns the ashari cautious & agrieved. he turns the society of air into the eye of a hurricane. orym is turned into a widow. his title as guard is marred; he failed. maybe zephrah is forever marked as a battleground & graveyard, now.

orym walks across tal'dorei & marquet, slowly healing beside his friends, protecting them as best he can. but then he learns who killed his family, and she kills his friends, too - and him, for a moment, giving him visions of his dead husband, reopening the wound. he is in the eye of a sandstorm, tinged red by the moon. he is a pilgrim no longer. his attempt to be a guard has once again been thwarted. maybe you cant have peace if you're a protector.

orym is at the center of the goddamn planet, the leylines aligning as he witnesses his leader fall at the hands of otohan, again at the center of his home's wound, and ludinus, again pulling the strings. a protector far stronger, more capable, than him, adorned in feathers, alight with divinity, falls worse. his friends are flung to the far sides of the world. he once again fails as a guard. maybe a guard is too small in the scale of this world's forces to impact the tide at all.

and so, orym nods to laudna as she rips bor'dor's life from him. he shears his hair ever more, adorns tougher armor. he makes a deal with a hag, desperate for any chance someone he cares for could maybe fucking make it out okay - even if his vastly increased sternness to keep them safe pushes all of them farther into fear of their own. he sneers with unfathomable anguish as he sees ludinus at the volcano and wastes every one of his action points to rip his soldiers apart. he uses ludinus's harness. he takes the willmaster's power. he keeps pushing into the bloodred storm. he could never be a guard right. so it is time to be a soldier. to truly protect must mean to run to the source of all of it and end it once and for all.

all of the bells have been forged by ludinus, a horseman of war, but orym takes it most viscerally. he does everything in his power to stop ludinus, but in a way the elf has already won - or perhaps, in his need for exandria to be "saved" (as he percieves his actions will do), he's failed, but the bells have still lost. because this new generation isnt at peace. they arent even heroes. they are soldiers. orym more than anyone else has accepted that is his life, his death, his fate. there is no goal of his that doesnt end at ludinus. ludinus, who just like him, lost everything in a war involving gods. who has felt the way the world keeps turning, unbothered by what destroyed his society. who uses that accursed harness to take power for a cause. who doesnt want to force someones mind to get what he needs, or kill, but does, because it is necessary. who has pushed himself to the point he is a means to an end more than a person, willing to rip himself apart because he doesnt matter, his goal does. who cant see anything but war on the horizon anymore.

when the two are mentioned together it causes folk to bristle. the idea orym could be in ludinus's shadow is seen as a suggestion that orym is evil as him. but, thats not what i intend. it is a terrible thing, watching someone's gaze harden after tragedy. once a long time ago, as the gods fought across exandria, ludinus saw his world destroyed. and so he enacted a plan to ensure that would never happen again. that they would suffer, and mortals would thrive. but his plan was a god's foot, trampling mortal society upon society. and so orym saw his world destroyed. and he knows killing ludinus is how to let it mend. as the two march forward, in a second calamity, i can think of nothing but the first scene of exu: calamity, when pelor & asmodeus fought as avalir fell below them. despite ludinus's raging, incredible hatred of the gods, the biggest tragedy of all is that mortals really are crafted in the gods' image: and he, & orym, are most representative of that endless cycle of war, of this war, a failure of the past generations, of ludinus, to ensure a "true" freedom of mortals. of peace.

willmaster edmunda was a terrible person, but i fear she was on the right track when she spat at orym "some would like to live in harmony [with Exandrians]. some... know the nature of violence, that others like you carry."

he would never have carried it if ludinus had not dropped it at his feet.

putting this below a cut cus it's a whole lot of me yapping about Hypothesized Vampire History lol but some de rerum natura-related thoughts below!

came upon these Wonderful thoughts in response to my last page chunk post, and right off the bat thank you So much for the thoughts folks i love thoughts on the nonsense im sculpting lol. with the matter of casting donnela as emin's (cazador's baby elf name that i picked out of a hat) mother, idk if its ever going to openly come up in de rerum natura, but personally i had it in mind that she explicitly did Not want to turn him into a vampire. im trying in this comic to avoid black&white characterizations and present people as multifaceted as possible, & in the spirit of that i figured that donnela Very much did not want to pass the curse of vampirism on to her son & deliberately kept him mortal, in fact planning on outliving him. maybe out of love, maybe out of not wanting to give up any sort of held power by even risking having her son as a spawn - maybe a fair mix of both, i dont know. vampires kind of present themselves as having a glamour of immortality & eternal youth & all that, but the tragedy of vampirism imho is being forced to step out of time & exist forever in a sort of stasis while the world and its people change around you. i think somewhere deep down, power-hungry ideals aside, i think at her core even though she was a monster in other ways, she couldnt bear to force her boy to suffer the same fate. maybe in her way it was her trying to break the cycle but not being clever enough to fully disengage from it, since she still was making spawn & still was treating them like dogshit. A for effort i guess? also with all that in mind, hopefully that sheds even more light on vellioth going out of his way to turn emin into a spawn & his motivations as one last final fuck-you towards her 😬

with regards to emin's eye color also, i just picked blue as the most opposite of red just to showcase in the very rough roughs that he was still mortal lol but thats subject to change to whatever color. are the szarrs a family of moon elves?? i guess theyre moon elves but they could be sun elves made really pasty by vampirism, who knows lol

also on the matter of "how did a vampire have a kid" - it's DND baby wizardry exists dont worry about it LOL

I have a smurfs AU where instead of being more like gnomes, the smurfs are instead a more humanised elf race instead!

here is me infodumping about them

Smurfs are still quite short in this AU, at least in comparison to other humanoid creatures, being about 5'2 to 5'4 on average (with an exclusion of a few smurfs whom are notably taller like Hefty who is tall even for human standards)

they still age quite slow and for about a 1000 year lifespan

The smurfs in my au are the same age as of the 1981 cartoon (a range of 100-150)

smurfs also have the ability to do or aquire magic, though most don't and instead do alchemy

majority of there customs and languages are pretty much the same from canon, the only difference is that they have more defined roles similar to fantasy kingdoms (like Hefty being the village knight and Brainy being Papa smurfs advisor in law)

smurfs have an iffy relationship with other elf races, due to how completley different morpholigcally they are and also culture differences. they still are noted to hate humans

They have hair and majority of them still don't wear shirts

the reasoning behind the sexes being in completley differen villages has actual reasons this time

-a few hundred years ago, there was three notable scenarios that caused the split and loss of communications between either villages

a human war the smurfs where indirectly involved in, caused majority of the male smurfs from smurfy grove to join in at the village to help protect and fight for there safety. this caused quite a loss and also majority of the female smurfs from the village went to join smurfy grove

during the end of the war, before the smurfs could immigrate back to their homes there was a massive natural disastor that caused a natural loss of communication between two villages for many years. and when either smurfs made it through the disastor, both thought either village was completley lost

a magical event that caused more of the already extremley limited population to almost deplete on itself, leaving only a few smurfs who all hapened to be the same gender in either village

then, having believed they where the last smurfs on earth, decided to each make a deal with the nature fae, where the fae creates smurfs themselves (due to having powers similar to god) and deliver them via the stork every blue moon.

This also explains why their is so little of Papa smurfs generation as well.

though it is to note that the smurfs plan to take down the whole stork thing as female and male smurfs get assimilated again and majority of the initial fae elders are retiring

they also do have families in this au. where the storks bring a small batch of babies at the same time that they automically deem as 'brothers', also due to the fact that the fae created them with similar genes

some familes include:

Hefty and wild are long lost twin brothers, Clumsy is their younger brother, and snappy is the youngest Storm and lily are sisters

Nat and farmer are brothers

Chief and baker are idetical twins

Blossom and Bergonia are twins also

fae would usually deliver notes to papa smurf/willow explaining each family in detail

non fae created smurfs (like smurfette) are still a thing! they are more similar to the hommonculi from fate/stay night, in that majority of them have more natural magic in them and they age much quicker into adulthood (with an exclusion of sassette whom drank an slow aging potion, which reverts her to the normal aging for smurfs)

gargamel is still a thing in this au, and is still incredibly fucking racist about the smurfs. he's reasoning for killing them has reverted to him wanting power (also selling elf blood goes for a crazy high price in the black market)

i am having a lot of thoughts rn so i need to write them you can look away if you want this is super fucking long asdfghjkl

imagine you are a tiefling. your mom is an elf and will surely outlive you and your entire family. you dad is also a tielfing. you are the oldest of 4 children. you live a happy 14 years as a relatively poor tinkerers child who has an affinity for magic your parents support with their whole hearts. but you are *poor* still so sending their child to magic school is not really in the cards. you are 14 when your dad disappears and is presumed dead. your mother falls apart in her grief understandably but unfortunately, your dad was the only one in the family with a job (your mother helped with that job but without him there is nothing to help). you are the oldest so you decide to use what little magic you know to help you make money performing street magic to provide for your family, your siblings who are like 7 and a year old (twin babies) obviously cant do that for themselves. you love your family and you would do anything for them but its hard to grow your skills when all youre doing is staying alive and thats how you live for the next 6 years. youre still struggling for money so you plan on going to this festival out of town to try and get your name out. on the way there you stop at a city that asks you (why you??????) and a group of people to find one of their people whove gone missing. on the way you all realize youre headed the same way so you might as well all travel together. you participate in the festival with these friendly weirdos, you get attached to people very quickly since you have abandonment issues and all of them are really really nice and one of them is even from your hometown!!!! you make it to the finals of the competition and the group youre up against is maybe not the nicest but your group is soooooo friendly that both groups decide to be good sports in the competition and not be sore losers if they lose. during said final round you guys pick up an artifact that gives the entire party a vision of a man trapped and desperate asking you to help him. you win the competition and your name will be forever remembered in that way but now you have bigger issues like wtf was up with that vision and the artifact????? your wizardly curiosity pulls you in. you find out the artifact is one of the most powerful artifact in the world blessed by not just one but three separate gods and the man from your vision must be their champion. this is a lot bigger than you,,,, you just wanted money,,,, but your new friends want to help this man and something pulls you along. you go to the cursed city (the city where demons come out of the walls every day in a never ending onslaught since the greatest war in the history of the world ended and reshaped history at you know it)

before you get to the city the cursed moon gives the entire party horrible warped memory nightmares that make you remember the last time you saw your father, the argument he and your mother had before he disappeared. you dont really wanna think about it. your mentor who taught you magic gives you her sword which is the last thing your father made before he disappeared. it feels very personal.

the inside of this city is awful and horrible and your entire party of lovable weirdos gets slammed again and again with darkness and despair but somehow you manage to come out of it relatively unscathed, you even gain a new friend!!! one you pulled from a deck of many things in a test to prove your worth!!!! (the themes of friendship triumphing never end btw) this new friend is a tinkerer JUST like your dad and even now your brother is a tinkerer too so he feels a little bit like home but also weird cause youre not used to people taking care of you its usually the other way around so you dont really know what to do with this new guy. the leader of this town who's trying to keep the demons at bay rewards you all by giving you his vacation home for free in the city you need to go to next in your journey.

when you get to the city the head curator of the library youre working with recognizes you immediately even though youre on a whole different continent and something in your stomach drops. he asks you what your parent's names are and a cold and ugly feeling settles in your stomach before telling him. he says nothing as he takes the group to the medical research facility and you see your father for the first time in years, passed out cold covered in angry red glowing crystals. the disease is uncurable and will kill him very soon, you found your dad again just to have him ripped away and warped beyond recognition and you are unable to do anything about it really. the other party members are shocked and upset by this but none more that the parties cleric who, unbeknownst to the rest of the group, instantly recognizes the exact scenario you are going through. you do what you do best and try to bury your feelings about the situation and tell no one about how youre feeling :) it worked at home why wouldnt it work here. the cleric tells you that no matter what they are going to do whatever it takes to find a cure so you dont go through their same fate and you trust your friends so much you believe him, youre determined now to get rid of this curse. in the process of investigating you get into a fight with some cursed statues (the big bad red curse,,,, you know the one) and you fuck up your attack so bad it hurts deep in your soul,,,, suddenly your hands have a red rash across them and you feel so so so tired. see the thing about the curse... it comes from this red crystal.... the same crystal your father had been working on tinkering with before he died.... the same crystal the hilt of your sword is made of :)

the only people who see that youre cursed are the party cleric and your knight (the new friend from the deck of many things you have complicated feelings about) so you decide the rest of them dont need to know :) you dont tell them about the sword either, you just start using a new one,,,, no one asks either thankfully! anyway the library finally gives you the next location so you can hopefully end these peoples (who you are now one of) suffering but there is one problem: an aboleth who believes he is the man from the vision that set this quest off is guarding the entrance to the place youre supposed to go. oh and also!! the rival party from the beginning of the quest? theyve been helping you guys out to and they went to check it out before you could warn them almost dying in the process so thats,,,, this mission is doomed from the start you swear.

despite all warnings, you go in the place where the entrance is trying to find a way in the entire party enters a fight with these cursed eels that intensely swallow you already at half health and you already think "oh god oh god were all gonna die and my family is gonna think i abandoned them just like my dad i cant die here not like this not so close" and somehow the entire party makes it out by the skin of their teeth and more than a little doubt in their hearts. this party doesnt know when to quit so you go in again to finally fight befriend the aboleth, this party is all about hope and kindness despite all the absolute hopelessness theyve been surrounded by for the past like 5 months you see, theyre first instinct is to reach out with both hands to their worst enemies and no matter how hard the world beats them down,,,, its worked every time. so of course it works this time almost instantly (with the help of the entire group and shit ton of magical buffs on one man, its called group effort sweetie uwu)

finally you get to go into the area this entire trip has been building up, what is essentially the magical prison of a cursed man forgot completely by the world. you are obviously not having a great time, the secrets youre keeping weigh heavy on you, you feel responsible for all of the mistakes youre party has made you also feel responsible for dragging an innocent man into this (the knight who is just like you, lonely and stubborn and intelligent and awkward) and the horrors TM are kinda setting in on you every minute since you saw your dad again but couldnt even talk to him,,,,, you are running out of time and now the cleric is also cursed which is just,,,,,, too poetic really. this was already personal for you both and now its you in their shoes and the cards stacked up in such a horrible way. but youre still alive, theres still a chance, we have to make it not just for your dad or all those other strangers or for yourself but your kind friends who have done nothing but help you,,,, they deserve to make it through this. so you power through

the dungeon is,,,, awful. every room is a memory from the cursed mans life where he watched the world beat down anyone who cared for him, his parents almost killed for simply having him, the civilians he tried to protect dying because he is one man who makes mistakes, the army he commands falling in a never-ending war no matter how many battles he one the next would just bring more loss, he was cursed,,,, because everyone believed he was cursed but all you see is someone who is like you and your friends who should have been givin a chance at a better life.

his memories crush you under their weight -literally- they pin you to the floor and wont let you up and your magic is failing you. worst of all its getting your friends too and you can do nothing to help while youre still trapped like this. the knight (who the entire party agrees is somewho the best of all of you) is the first one to break free from the spell, you dont know what did it specifically but he turns to you first urging you to get up and fight the voices in your head trying to bring you down. the cursed man speaks in your head, your loved ones speak in there too, telling you to just give up to let go and surrender that the fight isnt worth it but you are so close you cant end up like your dad where the last conversation you had was a yelling match about why youd left you have to make it back,,,, so you do, you get up and you get your friends up too. because this group doesnt let people fqall into nihilism and obviously all of you still have your problems, no one is perfect, but its worth trying. its always worth the fight

Gonna talk about my sad sad but also evil sun elf:

A preface of my dnd blorbos is that although they all have character sheets, they aren't intended to like. be playable in an actual campaign. this is from a text rp with my friends on discord that we sometimes do rolls for but the narrative > game mechanics, so...

So I have this homebrewed region called Napoli that is based off of. Uh. Irl Naples specifically the area around a volcano. So like. There was this thriving elf society called Fetesel - literally Forgotten Realms Elven for "fire mountain" because listen, thats how shit like this gets named irl.

So you have this sun elf, Zhoron. His House is the house in charge of the military. But then the volcano erupted and killed like almost his entire family except him, his mom, and his half moon elf cousin. AND THEN humans came and offered to help rebuild in exchange for fealty which as we all know is not actually helping at all.

Now what you gotta understand about Forgotten Realms is that sun elves are like REALLY REALLY RACIST. And Zhoron was super gung ho about rejecting human help to begin with, but the elf king was like "dude we have no army we can't win if they invade" and Zhoron was really sad about it. Also he was suddenly the head of his House due to all of his family dying so that was fun. But the new human leadership made him part of the human council while the elf council was left to just...sit there tbh. House Faeravel was split into two branches - Military and espionage and now this poor fucker was in charge of both since he only has like 3 family members including himself. So the human Count (human king gave him the county since he managed to convince the elves to give up without a fight) made him the Court Mage, history tutor and Spymaster.

Fantastic Racism aside, Zhoron kind of has valid reason to hate humans! Since they, you know, are occupying his country/kingdom/whatever. So he grew up being trained to be a combat mage - really really good at magic, really good at weaponry, although his official Class is Epic Level Wizard and Epic level Assassin - because he had to cram a bunch of espionage lessons into his brain. The assassin part is because, well...the humans didn't exactly treat the elves kindly. At one point, a group of humans were bullying his cousin for being born out of wedlock (because in this homebrew elves literally do not give a fuck about that but humans do) and it turned into a physical fight that ended up way more lethal than anybody intended, so...that's how he got enough evil alignment to become an assassin.

He was INTENDED as a villain, a well intentioned extremist slowly working to expel the entire human and now half elf population (because humans have now lived here for at least a century) but one of my friends got attached so we're shoving him through a redemption arc.

His familiar is a false black widow spider specifically to harass Drow in the event he ever had to deal with one (they live near an underdark entrance where giant spiders sometimes get loose. The human king thinks this is great because now the kingdom of napoli gets an easy supply of luxury spider silk plus all the good crops from volcanic soil), his weapon is a longsword, he has a dead twin sister and he has fucking ombre red to blonde hair. :)

thots about my first b/g/3 playthrough especially wrt my character (utter disaster of a druid) spoilers for the whole game obviously

honestly im still Going Thru It (in all meanings of the term) but just in hindsight this playthrough is so funny.

i played as foxfoot, a half wood elf circle of the moon druid.

now that i think back on it, over the course of the playthrough he:

failed to save the shadow-cursed lands - i got everyone at last light killed because isobel 'died' in the battle and got kidnapped so i just decided to roll with it. i thought that ended halsin's questline (i think there may have been a way around it though?) so i never completed it and left halsin behind. like i'm also a DRUID that should be my thing even astarion was like 'ugh typical druid (halsin) they care more about nature than people! er but not you of course' but hey we just had...other pressing things to attend to!! can't be helped

obviously, romancing astarion, letting him bite me and supporting him feeding on animals despite that 1. i can talk to animals and i care about the animals and 2. the undead just being the antithesis of what is natural in the first place. but look. we all have blind spots. it could happen to any of us. and it has, clearly

didnt ascend astarion because i wanted to break the cycle of abuse (good!) and then deciding to free 7000 VAMPIRES because i felt i couldn't justify astarion being allowed to live whilst saying the others should die. i have either doomed baldur's gate, or the ecosystem/races of the underdark. with 7000 VAMPIRES. literally obliterated the natural order in one fell swoop. look, nature will just have to adapt to them okay.

funnily enough i am still somehow able to justify his actions from an in-character standpoint, not that i can put it into words rn. but the really shortened version is: umm he's actually kind of a selfish and self-interested asshole, he's not downright evil enough to leave baldur's gate to get destroyed by a giant brain, but....thats also in no small part just because HE doesn't want to be a mind flayer..............

literally i turned against the emperor, saved orpheus, then when orpheus was like 'welllll one of us is going to have to become illithid' i literally was like 'i'm not becoming a mind flayer.' lmao

then at the end i send wyll and karlach to avernus because 1. foxfoot is literally the first to get fucked up in every battle, he will be a fucking liability in hell besides his virtue of being able to become an owlbear and 2. most importantly my vampire boyfriend just started burning up in the sun im really sorry guys but i have to go Thataway now bye bye!!

and in the end i chose the dialogue option saying astarion and i should go to the underdark to find the vampire spawn. which i was really happy was an option. so for me somehow, it was a really good ending, despite everything being so bittersweet. and umm...irresponsible.

im kind of really curious how insufferable this guy (foxfoot) would be in a dnd campaign.........but tbh, the whole reason i made the choices i did was because i when i got attached to the companions, i just made whatever choices i thought would benefit them (or at least, whatever foxfoot's idea of benefiting them was). so he would actually be a great ally, once his trust is gained. he's just chaotic as fuck also

Im p sure that the canaries are actually made to work as like some sort of community service for past crimes, right? So maybe Kakashi actually had a stint working with them after getting expelled from magic school.

If Madara comes from the golden country and is surprised to see Obito and Itachi coming from out of it, does that mean that the Uchiha clan are from the golden country? Thats a fun thought to play with actually

The Uchiha now being some small nomadic fragments of a once great clan, scattered throughout the land, knowing they were once great but having lost the history to prove it,,

Itachi being tempted with not just a home for him and Sasuke (maybe working with the canaries also gives him protection for his little brother?) but a family, a clan for them both. He's sooo tempted to say yes but hes also so fucking brainwashed into being a konoha loyalist, and being a Canary is all he knows

If we wanna get extra funky with it, maybe Itachi and Shisui are both in the Canaries bc of some stigma against the Uchiha. Their clan is consiered dark as a whole, born already criminals, automatically enlisted to repent for the crime of their birth. Born evil and all that

Little Sasuke back home excitedly telling Itachi that he can't wait to be a Canary too when he's older as Itachi despairs at the fact that Sasuke doesn't yet understand exactly what that means

Also, Obito being a tallman or like only a quarter elf and that impacting how he's viewed as an Uchiha / how the Uchiha really have spread out far, bc they're supposed to be a clan of elves. Maybe thats also what got him out of being a Canary, he's not a "real" Uchiha.

Final point I promise: Kaguya as the winged lion. A winged moon rabbit, locked away in the depths of the dungeon, far from the moon she belongs to. Also works interesting as a parallel to the winged lion bc golden suns vs silver moons or smthn like that, which also-also plays well into how the lion matches Laois' own gold vibes vs Kaguya now getting to match Kakashi's silver vibes

Ok so from the top, a timeline to summarize;

Kakashi is some super prodigy, just like his dad. Real rising star, everyone wants a piece of this kid. His father gets in some kind of scandal and ends up offing himself from the shame, and left alone Kakashi works four times as hard as before, burning himself out hard and fast but getting nothing but praise for it.

He eventually ends up getting involved in ancient magic, if we want to get extra spicy we can say that maybe his family carries some sort of wolf-chimera curse (dogteeth Kakashi/Hatake clan headcanon noises), and that his research somehow involved that curse.

Only he gets caught for it, expelled, and enlisted in the canaries as penitence. He ends up leading the team of Tenzo, Itachi and Shisui, but gets let go sooner rather than later due to a mix of favoritism, internal politics, etc. Vs. the others who are there pretty much for a life's sentence.

So Kakashi fucks off and forms a party with Rin and Obito (and damn if he isn't surprised to find an Uchiha outside of the canaries. And Obito doesn't even seem to fully understand what his name means, too.) He also finds out that apparently both him and Rin were taught by the same teacher at the magic school, Minato. And despite never actually going to that school, Obito was also taught by him outside of it. Small world, huh?

So they do dungeon adventures, time passes, they pick up Genma for the party bc they need a rogue, and then they go on that one disastrous dungeon dive that ends with Obito eaten.

And that is where the real adventure starts.

Mad Mage Madara and ruler of the golden kingdom Izuna fits alarmingly well actually, both for the roles and like, narratively from multiple angles. Madara going mad bc of his brothers death, him turning Obito into a monster, his general monstrousness coming from a place of love. It works scarily well

Maybe Tobirama can take the role of that Yaad has, cursed to be immortal and lord of the golden country hidden within the dungeon in Izuna's absence. Madara visits him sometimes and insists it'll all be ok once Izuna is back as Tobirama calls him insane to his face

Anyways; back to the party.

So Marcille Kakashi and Falin Obito. Rin has to be on their team for obvious reasons, but I reeeeally wanna see Itachi, Shisui and Tenzo on it too bc I'm such a sucker for Team Ro.

Alternativley tho, if we make Kakashi an elf, what if we have Team Ro kind of take the place of the Canaries, and say Kakashi was once part of it but bc reasons eventually left and did his own thing? ANBU/ROOT -> Canaries pipeline or smthn idk

Anyways, Kakashi turning to black magic to save Obito, only inadvertedly managing to make him into a monster, both of them effectively dragging eachother down more and more and further and futher in their unwillingness to let eachother go.

Doing smthn fun, let Hashirama be a ghost wandering around trying to talk Madara down from his usual bullshit, but confined to the lower floors or else he risks losing himself. Now let him posess Tenzo bc they have similar magic and let it give him a cool plant magic power up, and also let this mean he can now move between floors as long as he stays inside of Tenzo. Maybe he can help guide them through the dungeon

Let Madara see Obito or Itachi for the first time and realize that his family somehow continued to exist outside of the dungeon walls, and let him feel smthn about it. Let him call him turning Obito into a chimera as something like love, something like welcoming him home, and let him try to offer Itachi something similar.

the more i looked into the drow the more it was obvious the writers didnt understand what they wanted other than "evil", and so a lot of the information was contradictory. they wanted them to be chaotic evil, because thats the baddest alignment, but they couldnt perceive an evil matriarchy as anything other than overbearing and naggy because of their preconceptions about women also

allegedly ghaunadaur was a god that existed before the drow pantheon and was just kinda absorbed into it but at the same time why would the drow worship a god of slimes and other related species if this version of the drow sees all species especially the less sentient ones as inferior also i think its odd their one "good" goddess is the goddess of moonlight when the drow actually have very little to do with the moon. moon elves are a thing theyre like the common elf theres also four gods associated with rebellion and/or chaos. once again doesnt fit with how the drow are characterized as hyper militant conquerers who live in strict societies. its already been pointed out that it doesnt make much sense that drow are considered to automatically be chaotic-aligned when their society is set up to be the blwuh bluwh evil matriarchy martial law like it is. theres a lot of political turmoil and backstabbing but the average drow isnt really taking part in it because of the harsh class division and of course with the "automatically evil" societies (cough ORCS) the religious lore reflects that without question like lolth was evil and betrayed the other gods and all the elves that followed her chose to descend into darkness and thats why drow are BAD and its like. you sound like a mormon. this is stupid like. okay. lets say thats what objectively happened its never made clear if the drow believe a different version of events or anything. we know they see the constant infighting as "culling of the weak" (but its actually just lolth fucking with them because shes evil) but like. what do they think about the initial betrayal what story do they believe because most people dont do things that are like blatantly cartoonishly evil in their own minds also they cant seem to decide if drow society is fractured or not. are they all separate warring city states or are they a monolith of evil nasty elves???

anyway i am a little baffled by that one chest i found after being able to interact with the last merchant but otherwise act 3 was v well done i think. not rly much more to say, it satisfied me, i liked that i got to actually fight (verbally) with solas lol and i do think the "good" ending of convincing him to bind the veil to himself was actually rewarding for me as a player, even when i spent the game exasperated at him. good voice acting but also good body language there!!! which was a pleasant surprise since body animations are a little lacking imo for the rest of the game. bellara worked rly well for the role of the blighted companion so im glad i picked her! curious if neve has different dialogue, bc if not then bellara is def best. a little sad that hardings gone but also baffled at like. the wasted potential for a further storyline??? this isnt dao they knew to plan for a possible future game, but harding can be permanently dead, so...? altho. i guess we didnt actually get the body after. no body no death? dead but not entirely, part of the stone now? hmmmm

ill replay it for sure, the ending/act 3 actually sold me more on the game. i stilllll think as a dragon age continuation its... err. not what i wanted. not what id have liked. all the retcon and smoothing over of potential... meanness or people/faction being bad stings and spells a future direction im just not that interested in for the dragon age universe. but as a game? yeah i enjoyed it, i liked the gameplay, the npcs, found the romance a little lacking but rly liked the amount of inter companion interaction and reactivity, i thought all companion quests had a good emotional end, the game itself is very pretty, im annoyed at the sort of One General Personality With Small Variations that rook seems to have (mostly bc itll be hard to like... feel like playthroughs are very different/rooks are different ppl), but tbh im about as annoyed with it as i was with the inquisitor, just differently. think they should def have done smth different for the inquisitor in davg bc that showed theyd learned nothing of the reaction to hawke in dai, but i expected it lol. i liked the music eventually! the main theme even grew on me. i have more particular gripes with lore/character treatment but ill let that simmer for a bit. im gonna go to bed nowwww
