can you believe that we have fanfiction. that we have websites dedicated to fanfiction. that there is a place that you can go and read tens, hundreds, thousands and thousands of pieces of writing that strangers have made. people who are not "writers". people who come home at the end of the day and have feelings and say, i am going to put that into words. i am going to share those words. short, long, sweet, sad, horny, funny, wonderful words. we are all just human and we all love to make and remake and share that with others. can you believe that.

you guys have to stop generating and sharing AI videos of byler kissing. the technology behind that is extremely exploitative and you are enabling it. but if that somehow isn’t enough of a reason to stop, it’s also making you look like you are coping. just wait for s5 or create (human-made non AI generated) art/fics in the meantime.

"Love is what makes us human" no no no no no no NO SHUT UP!!! IT'S ART!!! IT'S ALWAYS BEEN ART!! Ever since the beginning of time, humans have been creating! They got home from their hunt and harvest and made cave paintings! That shit is still around tens of thousands of years later!! The nature of humans is the pursuit of knowledge of creation! Paintings, pottery, sculpting, music, performances, it's how we express our soul, what we're thinking, our heart and mind! Literally no other animal (or AI, Gods forbid) can create art like we can! Thousands of different animals can love and have sex but humans are unique because we CREATE. Nothing will ever stop us from creating and enjoying creations. That's what makes us human. Without art we're a husk.

This is the dumbest argument I've ever heard
Tumblr media
I can't think of any hobby more wallet friendly than picking up a pencil and paper. Like this is just plain stupid.
Also, I'm not an artist and I don't have drawings skills, but sometimes I paint little watercolors for myself and I have fun even though they look awful, and that's the entire point.
Also also, since I can't draw and I still want to share my ideas, I write. And yeah it takes practice but THATS THE POINT. There's so many genuine ways you can share your ideas with the world.
Hell, model with clay, act out a dumb video, draw stick figures, do whatever. I promise all of that is a better rendition than a program that isn't actually intelligent and is just giving you results based on keywords like a glorified search engine
Just say you want recognition for something you stole and didn't care enough to put the effort in and shut up

If you use AI art and claim it as your own.
You're a loser and should be fought in hand to hand combat with every artist in the world.
DRAW YOUR OWN SHIT YOU CUNT. DAMN.

it is very frustrating to see AI art on instagram get tens, even hundreds of thousands of likes and shares and views meanwhile art made by actual people that took hours upon hours of labor gets no attention at all. very soul-crushing reality that makes me want to give up on sharing my art

How do you feel about the increase in really weird NSFW ads on here (advertising panels that look like sexual encounters, and AI art apps that pride themselves on porn) but will take down NSFW posts from their users, even if it isn't technically sexual.
i hate all social media and it's consistent prioritising the advertisers over the users and the internet simply was a better place before capitalism sunk its hooks into it
#i could write essays about how capitalism ruined the internet.#i was actually talking to someone earlier today about how youtube was kind of effectively ruined by monetisation.#and they were raised in the soviet union and we had a bit of a talk about how art was better because it wasn't for profit.#the people who made art made it because they wanted to do it and because they loved it.#she said that communism was terrible for every aspect of life for her. people's lives under communism wasn't pretty.#but the art was better. and i feel like it's true for the internet – it was better when it was a free-for-all.#the companies didn't know how to exploit it yet and turn it into a neverending profit-driven hellscape.#people created content because they wanted to. because they wanted to make something silly to make people laugh.#not for profit. not for gain. not for numbers. not to further their career.#i miss the days of newgrounds and youtube before monetisation.#capitalism has soiled everything that's joyful and good in this world.#people should be able to share whatever they want.#people should be able to tell any story they want without the fear of being silenced by advertisers.#that's what made the internet so beautiful before. anyone could do anything and we all had equal footing.#but now we're victims of the algorithm. and it makes me sick.#i'm quitting my job in social media. i'm quitting it. it makes me too depressed. i have an existential crisis every freaking day.#every day i wake up and say "ah. this is the fucking hell we live in#i'm so sorry i feel so passionate about this.#social media is a black hole and it is actively destroying humanity. forget ai. social media is what's doing it.#i miss how beautiful the internet used to be. it should've been a tool for good. but it's corrupt and evil now.#sci speaks

dear "creators" who depends on ai
how does it feel to be so absolutely lazy and useless as a human being ?? how does it feel to have a functioning brain but can't use it properly ?? how does it feel to be so absolutely incredibly dull and uncreative that you can't muster 200 words to convey your ideas ?? how does it feel to have to face the fact that you suck so damn bad and you have to live with it ??

ChatGPT Fanfiction in My Style
Just did a funny little exercise:
Tumblr media
I asked ChatGPT to write a fanfiction like I would, and it lowkey startled me with how concisely it described my writing style. I know that it's AI and its literal purpose is to use all the data at its disposal to create these responses, but still, like, that's me. So at first I was a little alarmed by what it gave me.
Tumblr media
...Like, excuse me?>?? This is absolutely something I would write??
Am I about to be outdone by a robot??
But then I kept reading:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like it's cute, but..."Peach's Day??" Or Mario putting on his clothes "after the day's heroics?" The very juvenile cheesiness of "moments like these" that matter the most?
Tumblr media
Granted it's very short so there isn't much wiggle room to try to make a nice point or theme like it's trying to there at the end, but I just get the sense that there's something totally absent from here that a human-written story would have effortlessly. I wish I could explain it but I can't really put my finger on it. It's disingenuous.
Maybe I'm not being fair because it's not like my singular style is providing the engine with endless amounts of data to try and really emulate my style. But I have several stories out there and I think it's interesting that it's able to define and approximate my style in some way.
I don't really have a huge takeaway here, only that I'm not really worried about AI taking over for creatives. This did a really nice job of imitating my writing in terms of the prose and how the characters interact, but it's very inorganic at the same time. The story feels blocky, almost. I'm no expert on what makes writing great, but I know it's not this, and that it's not me either. And anyway, the more these engines get refined, the less accurate they actually become, so I think us writers and artists are gonna be alright.
