like in 2012 Raph is so scared when Leo tries sacrificing himself (something Splinter encouraged whether he meant to or not), and like yeah there is canonically an element of jealousy which is addressed, but it's much less often addressed how much Raph pushing back against Leo's leadership is because of those experiences. Of course he's gonna have a hard time trusting Leo's leadership when he consistently gets reminders that to Leo, being a leader means throwing yourself into the fire first

And in the meantime Leo's so protective and wants Raph to 'stay put' and 'not be a hothead' for the same reasons but opposite. Like. hnnnnn

Then in 03, Raph really does trust Leo's leadership and most of the time Leo is careful and thoughtful, not overly cautious, but it's a much slower build to the perfectionism and self-incrimination mixing in unfortunate ways with an altruistic heart. And Raph is seeing it first, and fighting it loudest, and Leo's entire ptsd arc is about how much he hates himself for asking his family to sacrifice themselves to stop the Shredder. I think of the City at War arc where, when Raph breaks and leaves, his parting words to Leo are 'just don't get these guys killed.' Like, Fine, if you don't want me to protect you, I won't, but that means it's on you to protect our little brothers. If I can't stop you from putting yourself up on the altar, you just better not bring them with you. And what Raph's really upset about is that all the ways he usually tries to protect Leo aren't working, but later on what Leo's internalized is that he shouldn't ask that of him family; he'd ask it of himself every time (it's a whole other post about how much Leo has tied up his purpose in life with being the Shredder's enemy and if Shredder is defeated then who is he and what is he worth)

Meanwhile whenever Leo holds Raph back it's most often like this: Raph saw someone in trouble or something unfair, and immediately instinctively wanted to throw his body in front of the victim, the way he always does for his brothers during a fight. Leo knows Raph does this, he knows how deeply his brother cares about their city and how instinctively protective he is if anyone helpless (weaponless, back turned, kids, elderly, animals--Raph does not like to see an uneven fight). And he's always immediately ready with a hand on his shoulder and a succinct, gentle explanation of a safer plan because he doesn't want to see Raph give himself up and he knows he would, without even thinking about it

Anyways--

Yes I love this scenario it fits them. Also makes me think of sainw where their big fight was over Splinter doing this exact move, with Leo putting off the grief and guilt in order to focus on the mission Splinter left him with, keeping his brothers safe, while Raph felt it all full force and immediately and could only see Leo abandoning someone who needed them. They probably both wished over the years that it had been them instead

Also imagining that if these two are arguing and the bad guys are watching, then they are in fact distracted which would allow Donnie and Mikey to disappear and once they've disappeared they can create a diversion to rescue Leo and Raph without anyone being left behind. Which also leaves them continuing their argument with nothing resolved between them ajdhahavaj

🌸 What does your OC’s voice sound like? Their laugh? Are they good at singing? Do they have an accent?

She actually trained her voice to sound a tad darker than it really is, just so that it sounds a bit more raspy and seductive on the job. That however slips away pretty quickly once she's out of the brothel. The difference isn't a big one, her voice is not particularly high or pitchy to begin with, but it's enough that Luffy picks up on it.

In a funny twist on the tale, Sun can make people do as she tells them - her more seductive voice working well to transport that devil fruit power - but despite being a part-time siren, she is absolutely tone deaf and a terrible singer.

She probably has an accent of sorts, alas I am not firm enough within the verse to tell you which one ^^

🎀 Do they wear a specific accessory with a special meaning behind it? What is their usual fashion sense like? What do they wear when they want to be comfortable and what do they wear when they’re going to a fancy party? Or do they just not care?

She wears a necklace that Shanks brought her on his last visit to Windmill Village. It's nothing special or fancy even, a particularly pretty sort of pebble on a leather string. She used to keep it in a drawer at the brothel, because it didn't go with her "office attire", but when she leaves to go with Luffy and the others, she takes it with her and starts to wear it again. Alas, for most of the first act the necklace is more a reminder to hold on to her grudge than a sweet memento 😂

She doesn't really have a specific clothing style, she usually just leans into whatever the occasion calls for and rocks it, because a) she's really hot and that sells pretty much every outfit and b) she wears every outfit with the nonchalance and self-confidence of someone who knows they could shine in a potato sack ^^

If she has a say though, she would always put pants (or shorts) before skirts and boots over heels or strappy stuff. She does make exceptions for special occasions though (eg. at Baratie where her personal dress code was "fancy dinner and a proper lay" xD)

💗 What would your OC say is their best feature? Why? What do their friends / family / lover(s) / people they know think is their best feature and why?

Given the fact that she is super hot both naturally and supernaturally, you could probably ask fifty people and get fifty different responses^^

Personally, Sun really likes her eyes (which is why a certain incident hit so hard, even though it could have been a lot worse).

Shanks would probably tell you that he likes her long, thick hair - maybe because she was near bald when he found her out on the ocean all those years ago and it's almost symbolic of how much she's grown and changed since that day.

Sanji is a hope less romantic and would probably go waxing poetry about her smile.

And both men would probably have a lot to say about her body in a more private environment ^^

Zoro would probably just shrug non-commitally like "she's hot, I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️" and Luffy just doesn't go there at all, but "she can make her skin colorshift and turn her eyes golden, that's really cool" 😄

Sunlight warms your face as you sit at a wooden table. You sit in silence with yourself. Accompanied only by the sound of a soft breeze and a few chirping birds. A range of flowers sits before you, ranging anything from chrysanthemum to peons. Besides the flowers sits a pair of scissors. Using them to cut stems off of a few flowers here and there as you put together a small bouquet.

“What are you doing?” A soft voice asks from inside the doorway to the greenhouse you sit inside of.

Turning to look at the source of the voice and you find your loving boyfriend. A smile as warm as the sun shines on his face and you can’t help but mimic it. “I couldn’t sleep. Came here to do some arranging.” You respond. Watching fondly as he makes his way to your side.

He still wears the clothes he had slept in. He must have just woken up and upon finding your side of the bed came straight out to look for you. The sleepy was still in his eyes even as they look upon you with love.

A chilly hand touches your shoulder, moving to soothe across your neck. His teal eyes glance at your project before looking back at you. “They look as beautiful as you do.” Gaara compliments you.

For the years you had been together it took him quite a while to willingly touch you. Skin on skin contact had been one of his biggest fears. For so long, anytime your hand would reach for his; you were met with a wall of sand. Any brush of skin would have him standing frozen in place. He had never done any of it on purpose though and you knew that. It was pure reflex for the deeply traumatized man. Now it almost felt like he never wanted to stop touching you. To never let you go so he would never have to fear being truly alone again.

You wave his compliment off with a smile. It was too early to be so sappy. You set down your scissors to fully turn and face Gaara. “What about you?” You ask curiously as you grab hold of his hand gently. “Off to some important kage meeting I assume?”

Gaara shakes his head, lifting your hand to his lips and placing a small kiss against your skin. “No, not yet anyway. Just missed you.” He admits with a shy look. Glancing from your pretty face to the flowers you had gotten up that morning to work on.

It was truly a miracle how far the two of you had come. Once, so long ago, he would never have reached for you first. Would have distanced himself as far as he could. But now he sought you out first. Missed you simply because you were not by his side the moment you both woke up. It made you feel wanted and loved. You could only hope he felt the same.

You stand with the help of your boyfriend. Leaning in to kiss him and he meets you halfway more than eagerly. After you two part, he guides you towards the door he had entered from as you two plan to return to your shared home.

“Let’s go make some breakfast.” You offer. Your fingers intertwine with his, giving his hand a tight squeeze. A reassuring gesture that you would never let him go either.

You’d have to return to your flowers later.

I hope it's okay that I lump the questions about (negative) past realtionships together into one rant on Charlie's last relationship, as it is a big part of her character and how she thinks and acts.

👮 Has my muse ever had sex in public?

Charlie's not really someone who gets a kick out of the possibility of getting caught, BUT sometimes things happen and situations don't allow for a cab ride... Alas, it doesn't get much kinkier than the Hard Deck's pool table after hours and the parking lot.

🏩 What was my muse’s first time like?

Just your average first time, really - two college freshmen celebrating their shared venture into adulthood with clumsy, fumbly sex after a frat party. But everything was fine - everyone consented and they stayed friends until things naturally fizzled out after graduation.

💝 Does my muse like Valentine’s Day?

Charlie's not super excited about it (she's more of a christmas girlie), but that doesn't mean that she's immune to the magic of a sweet gift ☺️

💗 Has my muse ever been in love? 👠 What was my muse’s last serious relationship like? 😳 What was my muse’s worst romantic/sexual relationship?

(Under a cut, because it's kind of a prominent plot point)

Charlie has only been in love - like real, proper adult relationship in love - once and it was with the ex she had before Jake.

Her ex was a doctor in the hospital where she did her residency and - despite definitely knowing better - they started going out.

Things with them were pretty serious even though they kept it a secret in the hospital.

He was a good bit older than her and more experience, which might have been the reason that Charlie missed some red flags along the way.

In the beginning she tried telling herself that he was going a bit overboard trying to down play their relationship in the hospital, but after a while it became increasingly hard to ignore those moments where he would berate her over nothing in front of others or worse, go and take credit for things that she did at work. Then he'd either flat out try and gaslight her about it or try and make her believe it was all part of his act to avoid suspicions of favouritism.

Charlie generally avoids talking about her ex and how exactly things ended, but she was pretty messed up about it - so much so that she dropped her residency and moved back in with her dad and returned to her summer job as a bartender rather than face him again.

It's also why Charlie is so reluctant to give Jake a chance and why she then keeps playing down what's happening between them - she's so scared of missing another red flag just as she's finally starting to feel like herself again.

Things are further complicated by the fact that her well-meaning, but meddling in the wrong kinda business dad doesn't like the military in general and cocky pilots in particular. He was however strangely fond of "the successful surgeon who visited his daughter over christmas that one year" and even goes as far as to invite him back into their lives; having him pretty much turn up on their door step just as Jake and Charlie finally stop to face the reality and depth of their feelings.
