“Take my shirt and lay it over my father's face: he will recover his sight. Then bring your whole family back to me.”
Surah Yusuf verse 93.
In different eras and places among Muslims talismanic shirts were worn under the regular robes of people to offer protection from Nazar and Sihr. It is believed that this tradition dates back to the prophet Yusuf (Joseph). One of the more famous practitioners of this tradition are the Ottomans, sultans such as Cem Sultan and Süleyman-ı Evvel wore them. This Quran verse is what inspired this.

the church of saint george/al-khidr (saint george) mosque in lydda, palestine.
newer houses of worship taking the place of older ones on the same sites is a history common throughout the middle east and europe - what makes this one different is that it houses both the "older" and "newer" ones at once. the original structure was a crusader church built on top of the ruins of a byzantine one, and a ruined section in its west became a sunni mosque during the mamluk period. in the 19th century, orthodox melkites got permission from the ottomans to build the church in the eastern section.
the church's crypt contains a sarcophagus venerated as the symbolic tomb of saint george (last picture).

Thd Kurdish women fighting ISIS
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All-female battalions of Kurdish soldiers have been instrumental in fighting ISIS
"In Syria, the women of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) have been recognized for their all-female fighting force. This force, known as the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) have been heralded for their bravery on the battlefield. Al Jazeera reported that Kurdish soldiers from the YPJ had singlehandedly killed over 100 Islamic State fighters.[1] In the defense of Kobani, it was reported that up to 40% of the resistance fighting force against ISIS was made up of Kurdish women."
By the way, 98% of Kurds are Sunni Muslims.

“Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ, through an infinite variety of subtle graces and goodness, invited people to Himself, but they did not respond to His call, so He afflicted them with diverse calamities, that by means of this torment they might return to Him, for He loves His creation.”

Note
which egg would treat the masjid shoe racks as their own personal shoe store (because we cant wear shoes inside the masjid we put our shoes on a shoe rack outside the door and SOMETIMES you can get your shoes stolen, so its like a meme where ppl take pictures of the shoe racks and post them with the captions like "going shoe shopping")
Ramadan mubarak! (Sorry that this is so late in the season)

Ibn Al Qayyim (رحمه الله تعالى) said,
"So strength, all strength is in the Tawakkul (Trust, Reliance) of Allah.
[Just] as some of the Salaf said,
"Whoever would like to be the strongest among the people, then let him trust in Allah."
