This is one of those things that seem so straightforward that I'm pretty sure that it might be more complicated to do correctly, so it'd be nice to find a tutorial about how to do it, but I have no idea how to look for one. And the pants that I would be working on are my favourites, so I wouldn't want to FAFO with them, and I doubt I'd just conveniently find a perfect pair just like them from a flea market either.
The idea I had in mind is ripped jeans with fishnet on the inside, where the rips are sewn to a stop to prevent them from tearing any further, and the net is attached to the inside for aesthetic purposes. So while the garment itself is whole and functional, it has the appearance of ripped jeans with fishnet stockings worn underneath. Have a shoddy, confusing illustration to hopefully clarify what I mean by this:
Tumblr media
Which seems like a task so simple and straightforward that by now I've learned to expect that there's got to be some kind of a catch in it. There is simply no way that it would be just that easy. But I have no idea how to google something like this, because not only are search engines virtually useless these days, I was already bad at them to begin with. So does someone know how to find info on how to sew fishnet onto jeans?

How to Choose the Best Broker for Stock, Forex, and Crypto Trading in 2024?
Navigating the world of trading can be overwhelming, especially when it comes to selecting the right broker to meet your trading requirements. Whether you’re interested in stocks, forex, or cryptocurrencies, the choice of broker can significantly impact your trading experience and success. In this post, we’ll explore the key factors to consider when choosing a broker and introduce you to ForexJudge.com, a reliable resource that offers comprehensive reviews and detailed analysis of the world’s best brokers.
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Broker
Regulation and Security:
Ensure the broker is regulated by a reputable financial authority. Regulation provides a level of security and oversight, protecting you from fraudulent activities.
Look for brokers that offer robust security measures, including encryption and two-factor authentication, to safeguard your funds and personal information.
Trading Platform:
A good trading platform should be user-friendly, reliable, and equipped with essential tools for analysis and trading.
Consider whether the platform offers mobile compatibility if you plan to trade on-the-go.
Fees and Commissions:
Compare the fees and commissions charged by different brokers. Lower fees can significantly enhance your profitability, especially if you trade frequently.
Be aware of hidden fees, such as withdrawal charges, inactivity fees, or charges for additional services.
Range of Assets:
Ensure the broker offers the range of assets you’re interested in trading. If you plan to diversify your portfolio, choose a broker that provides access to stocks, forex, and cryptocurrencies.
Some brokers specialize in specific asset classes, so make sure your chosen broker aligns with your trading preferences.
Customer Support:
Reliable customer support is crucial, especially if you encounter issues with your account or trading platform. Look for brokers that offer multiple support channels, including live chat, phone, and email.
Check reviews to gauge the quality and responsiveness of the broker’s customer service.
Education and Resources:
Many brokers offer educational resources such as tutorials, webinars, and market analysis. These resources can be invaluable, especially for beginners.
A broker that provides regular market updates and trading insights can help you stay informed and make better trading decisions.

A Pivot To Video tends to arrive in stages, with each stage being more expensive and producing less interesting content as things progress. Usually it goes like this: The experimentation phase, the factory phase, and the bloat phase. A great editor I worked for during the second Pivot To Video, roughly 2013-2017, who, herself worked through the first, roughly 2003-2007, described it as a massive waste of resources that wastes more resources as it becomes clearer to everyone not directly involved how much of a waste of resources it is. I’m paraphrasing. It’s a fundamental issue with video as a medium that online platforms haven’t fixed and, I suspect, never will because it makes user-generated content platforms feel more professional and consistent. Like TV. The cost to produce video content always balloons as you add more people, more tools, more structure to the workflow, pushing out smaller creators and teams. And even with the pandemic lowering the barrier of entry for making video online considerably, it’s still happening again. We’re in the bloat phase now. The Washington Post put out a great piece last week addressing all of this, calling it the “beastification of YouTube,” which it describes as “hyper-engaging, fast-paced videos with frequent action on screen.” It’s also referred to as “retention editing” in thousands of tutorials you’ll find on YouTube. And this is, largely, a YouTube-driven trend. The importance of YouTube as a cable TV replacement and Netflix competitor is why MrBeast, the platform’s biggest star, is spending between $3-$5 million per video right now, up from around $200,000 a video just a few years ago. To put that absolutely outrageous number in perspective, a MrBeast video is roughly the same cost per video as any episode from the first five seasons of Game Of Thrones. But it’s not just YouTube that is tweaked for retention editing. It’s happening on TikTok, as well. Guides last year were saying you had to capture viewers in the first three seconds. I’ve read a few guides from this year that are now saying hooking a TikTok user has to happen in the first 1.5 seconds. There’s an oft-quoted “shoeshine boy” theory of markets, usually attributed to Joe Kennedy in the late 1920s, who said that when the boy shining his shoes had stock tips, he knew the market was about to collapse. Well, here’s a similar rule for digital video: If you’re trying to optimize your video in microseconds, the video pivot is probably already over.

Today on Hobbit-Headcanons:
What would the company of Thorin Oakenshield enjoy about the Modern World?
One of my WIP transports the company to our world shortly before they're supposed to reach Rivendell, and into the apartment of my OFC.
So here is a list of things I think each character would enjoy about the Modern World:
Thorin: Google Maps, Siri (will totally argue with her like she's real), Shows like The Crown, Game of Thrones, but also Bridgerton, Democracy (yes you read that correctly), Rock music
Fili: Birth Control (can finally fuck around without risking the royal lineage), Superhero Movies (has an huuuhe crush on Black Widow), Tinder, Martial Arts, Feminism, Henley shirts to show of his muscles, bars & clubs
Kili : TikTok (LOVES cat videos, Top Content Creator about Archery, 'deep thoughts'/rambling, 'prank my uncle/brother with me', does EVERY challenge, accidental thirsttraps & flustered by the comments), Parkour, Man Buns & (Hipster-) Fashion, LGBTQ+ - Community , karaoke bars, team sports, the zoo
Bofur: modern music (especially pop songs with dirty lyrics), Tumblr (is no. 1 shit-poster), music festivals, arts&crafts blogs, Christopher's Streets Day
Bifur: Google Translate, Modern Medicine, Pain Medication, ASL, RomComs (trust me), helps out in an animal shelter, country music
Bombur: Cooking Shows (has his own Online Show), Kindergarten (he had so many children, the reprieve would be SO appreciated), international foodstuff to try
Dwalin: Guns, MMF, store-bought cookies, sport shows (AGRESSIVE fan for whatever team he randomly picks), Barbecues
Balin: Twitter (the political possibilities!!!), mental healthcare (he's sending the whole line of Durin he had no time for their shit), Spa Days, public schools, classical music
Oin: Modern Medicine (Duh), hearing aids, physiotherapy
Gloin: bitcoins, the stock market, Facebook (posts daily about Gimli)
Dori: hair tutorials, fashion shows, tracking devices (has totally microchipped a drunk Nori at some point)
Nori: hacking, movies with the lovable rogue as the MC (Pirates of the Carribbean, Deadpool etc.), spy movies (duh), the mafia (yes, he becomes a boss within weeks)
Ori: Wikipedia, public libraries, tutorials for EVERYTHING (knitting, cutting your own hair, how to talk to royalty, fancy war cries, you name it), fantasy novels, public schools
Bilbo: Food blogs, the "ignore call"-button, Instagram, university (will mayor in at least three subjects), museums
Gandalf: the Internet as a whole, email/ instant messaging, yard sales, modern weed, museums (has a knack for finding cursed items), adventure movies (after watching Indiana Jones he seriously debated obtaining a whip)

another long very chaotic personal rant, getting it out there (again, i know, i absolutely hate myself too for it, no one really needs to read it, but i just feel better having it posted)
i hate so much when there is THE ARTIST in fandom. a big figure whose art become the face of characters, the face of the ship and everything.
there are ofc always big and small artists, but it's just so fucking overwhelming to see these particular people. especially when they grow out of nowhere in several months, achieving results you can only dream of and for which you will probably never have enough time, talent and what not.
i tried so hard and got so far but in the end it doesn't even matter or whatever linking park said.
sometimes i just want to get a little lucky at least fucking once instead of contantly grinding, living on 4 hours of sleep and moving like a fucking turtle in everything, no matter how much time i spend and how hard i try.
i want to be praised on these fucking discord servers without dragging my art all over the place like a seller person on the market. i want someone to use my art in their stupid slideshow on tiktok. i want them to get it and post it as illustration for some quote they liked on twitter. hell, i don't care, steal it, sell it, say it yours. for me it just means you love it so much, with my paranoia i won't be able to make money from my art anyway in this fucking country.
i want to feel like what i do makes sense and worth it in the end.
would be nice to feel like that about things irl too, but it seems even more impossible, because i'm absolute failure of a person.
i know i need to be happy and grateful about what i have, i need to compare myself to my past self, but it's just not what i feel at all. my past self had quite some moments of being better than me now, even if this self wasn't aware of it in these particular moments.
life feels so fucking unfair, and i feel jealous, angry, petty, overwhelemed, miserable and "i should stop sleeping at all, take 100 courses to get better, do 1000 tutorials, do more sport, eat even less, do better, better, better NOW" about it. and stop fucking crying, because it's petty and no one needs it.
i also feel so fucking guilty about being happy about occasional nice comments and words only for a moment, instead of focusing on them for longer times, i can't fight these dread and anxiety of feeling insignificant forever. these days it's worthy throwing a party if someone decided to say something nice, but i feel happy for a day and then get back to feeling like shit.
i also feel guilty for wanting these things when i know people who have it even worse. but just knowing that someone had it worse is perspective, not particularly a better feeling. i feel bad we all have it so bad. i'd prefer us all to succeed and achieve what we want. find communities, find love, find appreciation. and be fucking happy, be content, not on the constant "happy for a moment and then dread-dread-dread" rollecoaster that never fucking stops.
all i see is not the light at the end of the tonnel, but the tonnel at the end of the light and it gets closer and closer, darker and darker every other week.
i know that i'm annoying and talk about feeling bad often these days, but it just how it is. sometimes you are a mess and you have to live through it, hoping it all will end one way or another.
i'll talk with my therapist about it, but my next session is only on friday, so here is some extremely chaotic self-reflection. i need to survive this thursday and part of friday to get there and somehow work in process. there is a prospect of losing a job now, but no one knows anything, haha. sometimes it feels that good news are out of stock at all.

IkePri characters as types of people in group chats (Part 1)
Leon: Texts using too much internet slang and sends his messages one word at a time.
Chevalier: Leaves the group chat as soon as it starts. He has better things to do.
Silvio: Sends unrelated stock market and Andrew Tate videos in the group chat. Has 12 swear words in each sentence. Uses too many suggestive emojis out of context (😜😳).
Gilbert: Uses “hehe” and “:)” at the end of each sentence. Says threatening things all the time but ends every sentence with a smile emoji so you never know if he’s serious or not (he probably is).
Clavis: always sharing gossip and starting drama in the chat.
Luke: occasionally says “hey” or “yo” but that’s about it.
Yves: sends makeup tutorials and cooking videos out of context. Types in lowercase. Always.

Prints & Merch
Hey all! I have a print shop!
ABOUT
Downtown Coolsville is a little art collective I've made with some local friends; we get together approximately monthly to create art together as a fun casual hangout. It started with following watercolour tutorials as a group, but evolved into us doing our separate projects side by side, and deciding to open a lil store together. We also occasionally have booths at markets in our local area in Ontario.
ORIGINALS
I don't have my wood-mounted originals up there yet, but I will soon! Those are the actual original painting so they are each unique and will cost more. Additionally since they have a little more weight to them, shipping costs might be higher, particularly outside of Canada.
PRINTS
For prints, clothing, mousepads, etc, it's print-on-demand, which means:
Shipping will take a little longer because it'll take a week or so to get printed first.
The service I use has global locations, so depending on your address when you buy a thing, they'll try to print it as local to you as possible to reduce shipping/customs/time.
Caveat to the above: some stuff like mousepads (such as my Outer Wilds solar system one) are only made in the US. (Also currently been out of stock all month! 😭)
I'm based in Canada myself but anything print-on-demand will come from this service.
There's options for prints to come with simple frames, etc.
Also, I'm really happy to help out anybody if they have questions about setting up print shops! I just do this as a fun little hobby, and my knowledge is limited to my experiences and research, but I get joy out of helping people out and really don't mind any questions.

Unoa Freak 1, 2 and 3 [Review]
Summary
The Unoa Freak series is specifically written to celebrate and discuss Unoa dolls. Created in 2003 by Gentaro Araki, founder of Alchemic Labo, they were one of the first BJD available on the market. They are not as popular as they once were but Unoa dolls come in many common sizes, making these books a great resource to this day. The books also contain tutorials on face-ups, manicures, modding, stringing and more.
These books have been created with so much love and creativity, from the beautifully illustrated covers, to the fashion editorial style spreads for the patterns. They are one of my favourites to take off the shelf just to flick through the pages.
The number of patterns varies by book and each one has been created by different artists, so do take a look at the tables below before purchasing.

Pros
Gorgeous cover art with a partially transparent layer
A real must if you love Unoa dolls
The photography is superb
So many patterns for any size of Unoa doll
Includes a few accessories
Tips and tutorials for common doll styling and mods
Cons
Minimal instructions for the patterns, sometimes just a couple of drawings
The patterns in the book don’t work for every size of Unoa doll, usually each pattern is designed for a particular body sculpt (cries in Unoa Zero)
My copy of UF2 had a few pages come loose from the binding - not sure if it's a common problem but something to keep in mind
Tumblr media
Final thoughts
I don’t think I would recommend these as pattern books for beginners, as the patterns are sized so specifically and the instructions are quite minimal, but if you are an experienced sewer I think you will enjoy the variety of styles here. My main reason for recommending these books wouldn't be the patterns though - it's the peek into BJD history that make them special. I think they are a great addition to any bookshelf.
