Basically a parasitic Devil Wears Prada.

This movie was insane because of all the things they wanted to comment on and critique. Capitalism, Canada’s medical system, eugenics, the foster care system, PTSD, vegetarianism, cult-like followers, self-confidence, the list continues. But the things is - it was all done really well. No stone left unturned sort of a thing.

Something worth mentioning, the team that made the prosthetics for this film deserve a raise. So well done. And the writers that worked on the medical/science aspects made sure the script was compelling and not boring. I kiss you all on the forehead. Muah.

Canada can’t do every piece of media well, but I luckily had two good horror movies in a row.

OH MY GOD. I am going to need pre-2020 films to stop mirroring the pandemic. It’s alarming.

are looking for some good ol’ Canadian horror

(you know it, you love it) medical malpractice!!!!

Okay we’ve seen the fake dating troupe before but I loved the singer/bodyguard element of it. Of course these types of troupes brings some fun along the way and this one was no different. The added factor of the stiff/professional guard type made for some great extra humorous moments. Now the person behind the notes wasn’t sure surprising but it was still a fun little mystery to add to the story. Plus I didn’t mind the conflict, especially because there were a few other possibilities I thought would be used for it so it worked nicely. The family dynamic of the movie was super fun a well. Cast wise, I always love seeing new faces and I thought Noemi was a lovely leading lady. I hope we see her again on the network. It’s always great to see Stephen so I was happy to see him in another holiday movie this year! So these two didn’t wow me with their chemistry but they did have it and made a fun duo. 

Rating: 3 - I really enjoyed this one. It’s easily my favorite fake dating troupe next to A December Bride.
