Closed starter: Raul Castillo and Stefan Hanover @starrcrvssed
It had been days since the fun and joviality of the French carnival had been interrupted by the robbery and looting of the royal and noble courts of much of the world and Raul was exhausted. He had spent the nights after the robbery on high alert, patrolling in the night for sight or sound of who could have entered all their rooms and taken from so many of them; if he could find even one of the robbers, perhaps he could find them all. The days and lack of success only deepened his fury though, he had to admit that it had started to diminish his energy. He found himself dozing in the hall on that day, the lack of sleep finally catching up to him before someone stepped near him, waking him, and causing him to pop up sword in hand before he recognized Stefan Hanover. "I'm sorry...just a little tired. How are your children by the way? Did they lose much in the robbery?"

Hey, welcome! This is a multimuse featuring both canon and original characters from/for games made by Rockstar. Mostly GTA and RDR with others as request characters. My name’s Rory, they/them, and I’m 29 years old. Due to my age and nature of this game, I will not be writing with muns who are under 21. I would consider this blog to be on low activity. Below are my pages.
rules.
promo.
song credit.
MUSE LIST BELOW.
MAIN. (AKA. I always have muse.)
Trevor Philips - GTA Canon - [ Self-made businessman, meth and weapons. Former bank robber and running buddy of Michael’s, Trevor settles in Sandy Shores after a bank robbery that goes wrong. He attempts to deal his own drugs and weapons, but things don’t quite go according to plan when he finds out someone isn’t actually dead. ]
Michael De Santa - GTA Canon - [ ‘Retired’ bank robber, miserable millionaire. Formerly Michael Townley, a notorious bank robber. A seemingly botched score in North Yankton puts Townley in a grave, and De Santa in a mansion in Rockford Hills. ]
Devin Weston - GTA Canon - [ Billionaire, (wannabe) lifestyle guru. All American billionaire, a skilled investor and stockholder. With his hands in various ventures in Los Santos and Merryweather Security, Devin is able to live a very easy life and pursues a side project as a lifestyle guru. ]
Arthur Morgan - RDR2 Canon - [TBA.]
Hosea Matthews - RDR2 Canon - [TBA.]
SECONDARY. (AKA. I might be slow with these characters.)
Chef - GTA Canon - [ Meth cook, competent shot. Employee of Trevor’s, Chef is, as name implies, his meth cook. However, due to the chaotic establishment of TPI, Chef finds himself shooting a gun more often than he thought he would, which eventually makes him a viable candidate for future bank heists. ]
Karen ‘Michelle’ Daniels - GTA Canon - [ Federal agent, workaholic. After getting her big break in Liberty City, Karen climbed the ranks in the IAA in order to secure her position as a federal agent. Bitter and married to her job, she is trying to eventually settle in Los Santos. ]
Marnie Allen - GTA Canon - [ Spiritually enlightened, cult recruiter. After a horrible experience in Liberty City that resulted in a heroin addition, Marnie manages to make it back home with the help of a stranger (See: Niko Bellic). However, upon her release from rehab, the Epsilon Program picks her up and upon taking their philosophy, Marine becomes a recruiter. ]
Niko Bellic - GTAIV Canon - GTAV AU - [ Gun-for-hire, new to the country. After Niko’s revenge mission leads him to Liberty City, he soon finds out that things are not what he expected them to be. Getting caught up in a familiar cycle, Niko finds himself having to dig a dipper hole for himself before he can pull himself out. The cost of doing so is great, and in hopes of starting new (again) he moves to Los Santos. ]
Molly O'Shea - RDR2 Canon - [TBA.]
Josiah Trelawny - RDR2 Canon - [TBA.]
Abigail Roberts/Marston - RDR/RDR2 Canon - [TBA.]

what are your favorite movies? 😼🫵
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE….. right so I used 2 b somewhat of a movie buff so im gonna give u my top 10 movies that I think YOU should watch:
1. Das Boot /english title: The Boat (full version from 1981, no 2018 pussy bullshit) dir. Wolfgang Petersen it is the movie ever. I have the book in german and english and i have like 4 posters for it, it is that good
2. Farewell my Concubine (1993) dir. Chen Kaige Das Boot n this have shared number 1 spot. There’s all kinds of child abuse in the first hour of the film, so look that up if that’s anything ur uncomfortable with, but this movie is so beautiful i think everyone needs to see it. It was the first movie I saw with Leslie Cheung and he’s amazing <3<3<3<3<3
3. The Lighthouse (2019) dir. Robert Eggers
4. I Kina spiser de hunde /english title: In China They Eat Dogs (1999) dir. Lasse Spang Olsen One of the funniest movies out there. About a shy banker whose girlfriend breaks up with him and takes all his furniture, and the next day his bank gets robbed, but he manages to stop it. Later the robber’s girlfriend comes to his apartment and beats him, claiming that she and her bf were gonna use that money to adopt since she can’t get pregnant. The banker decides to contact his half-criminal brother to rob a cargo so that the girlfriend can get the money.
5. “Pusher” trilogy (Pusher, Pusher II: With Blood on My Hands, Pusher III: I’m the Angel of Death) (1996) dir. Nicolas Winding Refn you knew this was gonna b up here. Personally I love the second one the most bc it’s interlaced with this heavy melancholia.
6. La Haine (1995) dir. Mathieu Kassovitz
7. The Florida Project (2017) dir. Sean Baker From the genius behind “Tangerine”. top 10 movies that always makes me cry
8. Dom Kallar Oss Mods /english title: “They call us Misfits” trilogy (They Call Us Misfits, A Respectable Life, The Social Heritage) (1968, 1979, 1993) dir. Stefan Jarl Fuck Boyhood. Jarl made a documentary in three parts, the first one filmed in the late 60s, following two boys living in Stockholm, the last documentary even follows the boys’ sons as they’re growing up in a world that is completely distant from their fathers’. It’s perfect, it’s a cult classic, I can’t explain how beautiful it is, depicting how fast n how much society n culture in Sweden changed during the 70/80s, before n after r like 2 seperate worlds. also its just sad man.........
9. 15: The Movie (2003) dir. Royston Tan It’s a black comedy that’s v well executed. I haven’t watched it in years, but I still remember scenes vivdly like the main characters’ chant and a gangster boss sending two guys on a mission to find the best building in Singapore to committ suicide from.
10. Les Amants du Pont-Neuf /english title: The Lovers on a Bridge (1991) dir. Leos Carax Juliette Binoche is one of the leads, that should be all you need, she is a fantastic actress.
EXTRA. Christiane F. (also known as Wir Kinder Vom Bahnhof Zoo) (again 1981 is the year, not the remake, i havent seen the remake yet so i cant say if its good/bad) dir. Uli Edel This movie made me romanticise drugs n move to Berlin on my own at 16 so yeah.

Author’s note: This was created for the Klaroline Fall Bingo Event @klarolinefallbingo.
Prompt: Haunted house
Please review here.
                                     _______________________
Caroline spied a shotgun, nine semi-automatic handguns, two machetes and five grenades before she gave up counting the intruders’ arsenal. These men definitely were the most interesting humans to cross the hospital’s threshold in years. She perched on top of a tall pile of rusted metal chairs, curiously observing their argument.
“It’s bullshit, Klaus! We could’ve outrun the cops!”
The dimpled man smirked, his tone condescending as he replied, “Ah yes, there’s that celebrated Salvatore intellect that got us into this rubbish in the first place. Tell me, Damon, don’t you recall bragging how you and Stefan had monitored the bank for months, and that the main vault wouldn’t be a problem?!”
Several of the other men grumbled, exchanging fearful glances. “And now we’re hiding out in a haunted house,” one of them muttered.
“Hospital,” Katherine’s disembodied voice corrected, startling the men as the wildly looked around the dilapidated room.
Caroline rolled her eyes as her friend casually floated in their shadowy corner, a cruel smile touching her lips as she watched the bank robbers look right through them. The living were so predictable.
“The Salvatores are mine,” Katherine decisively said, scratching her nails down the crumbling red brick wall. “You know how much I enjoy brothers,” she purred.
The women looked on in amusement as the men argued over what caused the damage to the brick, their voices tinged with worry. Klaus suddenly took command, snarling out orders for them to stay in teams of two and three as they monitored from strategic points throughout the decaying ground floor. “That one’s mine,” Caroline stated possessively, a small thrill of anticipation surging through her as she studied their leader closely. The brave ones always were exciting to break.
The men reluctantly split off, unknowingly leaving behind their safety. And their sanity. The women watched the Salvatores carefully step around the black mold that grew along the middle of the warped linoleum. “They’ll have a perfect view of the children’s ward,” Katherine murmured, “I wonder if they like clowns. Fuck — that wallpaper is enough to give me nightmares — even before I make them giggle and bleed from their eyes.”
“I can smell the rot of their souls — what’s left of them, anyway,” she commented disdainfully as Katherine flickered out of sight.
With a wicked grin, Caroline listened to Klaus’ impatient footsteps down the moldering corridor where the fevered used to be locked away long ago.
           I prefer something a bit more...fresh.

Florence - Analogue Expressions - collection of remastered early 90s techno from the Eevo Lute Muzique label (Delsin)
Delsin turns its attention to the archives of one of the great early pioneers of Dutch techno – Eevo Lute Muzique. The label was founded in 1991 by Wladimir Manshanden and Stefan Robbers (who was already recording seminal early techno records as Terrace for Djax-Up-Beats). Channeling the inspiration of the Detroit originators and mixing it up with their own synth pop and new wave influences, Manshanden and Robbers (adopting the Florence alias) forged a bold aesthetic with Eevo Lute, both musically and visually. This was an early iteration of techno as listening music, with an emphasis on expression and narrative over dancefloor functionality, helped in no small part by Manshanden’s striking poetry. This double set of remastered, reissued tracks gathers together the earliest Florence and Wladimir M. material, largely recorded between 1991 and 1994, across five discs – the definitive document of a treasured piece of Dutch techno history.

Out now: Sierra Romeo - Zeroes Bites. Link in bio! Four new tracks by Sierra Romeo, the perhaps lesser known pseudonym of Stefan Robbers, focussing on ambient, downtempo and experimental electronica works. The legendary Dutch producer, known for his releases on Djax-Up-Beats, Planet E and his own Eevo Lute Muzique, revitalises the moniker to present four beautiful electronica pieces on the Delsin Eevo Lute series, that also remind of his beautiful Florence tracks. https://www.instagram.com/p/CWvlKxpjuLw/?utm_medium=tumblr

Part 1 Beginning of a long long journey
Part one (beginning of a long long journey); Part two (Good guys); Part three (No place in heaven); Part four (Oh, girl you’re the devil);
Word count: 2508 Summary: You are on a road trip with Kai, Damon and Klaus and have to stop for gas, but as often happens when you are in their company, things don’t go as planned.
“I can't believe I said yes.” You tell Damon shaking your head. Damon turns around on his heels with an conceited grin on his face that is just nearly killing you. “It’s no secret you can’t resist all this.” He says gesturing to his own body. You let out an annoyed sigh and open the car door. “Is he annoying you, love?” Klaus walks up to you and shoots Damon an threatening glance. “I suppose we better get going and get this over with before anyone gets killed.” You suggest. “Were you going to start this party without me?” A third voice asks. You look over your shoulder and see Kai walking up to the car. Confused you turn to Klaus and Damon. “What is he doing here?” You only knew that you were going to be stuck in the car with Klaus and Damon, which could end in a fight, now that Kai is added to the mix it could end in a bloody massacre. “So lovely to see you again, Y/N.” Kai whispers in your ear. You feel his breath on you bare neck. The feeling of the brush of warm air on your skin and the idea of Kai being so close to you makes your hair stand up straight.   “Get off of her.” Klaus growls and pushes Kai away from you. “She’s off limits.” True that. “I think that she can decide that for herself.” Damon interferes. “What about you all getting your stubborn asses in the car.” You say before things could get really out of hand. Threatening glances are exchanged before everyone gets into the car. You have to sit in back with Kai because having Damon or Klaus sit next to him is like setting the timer on a bomb you actually don’t want to go off. It’s a just a matter of time. Everyone is tense. “Tell me, Cher.” Kai says imitating a southern accent. “How did the hybrid get you to comply to this road trip of hell?” He asks and then quickly adds “Well hell, except for your company of course.” He winks at you.   “Klaus,” you say noticeably correcting him. “didn’t get me to comply to anything. Actually it was Damon who persuaded me into this.. Whole thing.” You say for the lack of ways to describe this road trip. Damon who's sitting shotgun turns around smiling broadly. “What can I say, I can be very persuasive.” He looks at you as if you're sharing a secret. How in the world are you going to keep them from fighting when you are the reason they are challenging each other? “Shut it. Both of you.” You tell them. “If you're just going to act like kids, then I don’t know what I’m doing here.” Damon turns around in his seat and stares at the road ahead of you. “Thank you.” You say relieved. It didn’t take long before the silence was broken again. “The gas is low.” Klaus's voice is the first to break the quiet. “Already?” You ask disbelieving. “Couldn’t you fill up before we left?” Kai asks Klaus irritated by the fact that we already needed the make a stop. “It’s Rebekah's car, mate.” Klaus's voice sounds hostile. “This is unbelievable. Not even an hour on the road and we have to stop. All because the hybrid didn’t fill the tank.” Kai rambles angrily. “It’s not my bloody car!” Klaus cries angry, slamming his hands on the steering wheel almost making the car fly off the road. Scared you look out the window and see the depths of the ravine next to the road. “Guys, remember that there is also a mortal in the car, who really doesn’t want to be smashed to death by gravity.” Your voice is a bit shaky due to your fear of heights. Klaus grumbles an apology. A thought just popped up into your head and you turn to Kai. Curious he looks at you. “What would happen if a vampire is smashed to death?” You can't help but wonder. Kai laughs out loud. “Now that is an interesting question, Y/N!” Kai replies overly amused. “I wonder about death a lot too.” “And I’m going to wonder a lot about your death if you don’t stop being so infuriating.” Klaus growls at Kai. “Come on, Kai.” You give him your judgy eyes. Kai just shrugs. “I think it would be marvellous to find out.” You raise your eyebrow. He really is a nutjob. A total basketcase. But there is something else about him, something you do like. That’s the case with each guy in this car. They're repellent, but there is something about them you admire. You've never admitted that their cockiness intrigued you, but it does. They are cocky without being vain. “You’re an idiot Kai.” You say giving him a playful push. Kai smiles at you. “You have a point there.” He says pretending to really think it over. “But at least I'm fun.” He adds with a wink. Laughing you shake your head. “Having fun back there, I hear.” Damon says turning around. If there is one person who has a jealousy thing, It’s Damon. “If you three weren’t so stuck-up we could all be having fun.” You point out. “I don’t share well with others, love.” Klaus says while Damon speak at the same time. “Foursomes aren't really my style.”   You scoff loudly. The car stops and you can't wait to get out. Needing a minute of silence you walk away from the car heading to the back of the gas station. You hear Klaus calling your name, but you pretend to not have heard him. Just as you've sat down on the grass with your back against a tree, your phone rings. “How is everything going?” Stefan asks. You sigh. “This is torture, Stefan!” You exclaim. “I don't care how busy you are, but you and Elena owe me big time.” Stefan is silent for a moment and you picture his serious face, contemplating what to say to you. “We do, Y/N. I personally know Damon is a real pain in the ass and I don’t like either Kai and Klaus, but it’s for the greater good. You're the only one who can keep every one of them from grabbing each other’s throats.” Even though Stefan is right, it doesn’t make it any less difficult. “I’ll check in with you later. I got to go.” Stefan says and then hangs up. You close your eyes and rest your head against the tree. Silence. When you hear a loud sound you don’t open your eyes. Of course! How could you even think that the silence would last longer than just a few seconds. Reluctant you open your eyes when you start to hear people yelling at each other. “Well, that's not what I expected.” You mumble looking at the hooded men fleeing from the backdoor of the gas station. Guns in their hands and a bag filled with cash. It takes a moment before you realize the danger. The men notice you and one of them starts shooting at you. Fast you jump behind the tree feeling a sharp pain in your arm. You look down seeing the blood staining your white blouse. Great... Your ability to stay calm is also thanked to the fact that it’s just a graze. You're traveling with supernatural creatures and you get shot by humans, what’s  luck? The shooting stops, but the yelling only seems to get worse. You take a chance and peek around the tree. You see Klaus and Kai fighting the men. Not that there really is anything the men can do against their strength. You feel someone behind you and turn around ready to throw a punch. “Are you alright?” Damon asks concerned, while deflecting your fist like it’s nothing. Then he sees the blood on your blouse and you can the change in his face. He's furious. Not only in the way normal humans are. The veins around his eyes turn blue and purple and his eyes seem from another world. You lay your hand on his cheek. “Calm down, avenger.” You say flashing him a comforting smile. “It’s not the time for you to lose your cool.” Damon places his hand over yours and you can see his eyes change back. When you can feel his breathing slow down you let your arm fall next to your body. Damon looks at the blood and bites his wrist. You hold up your hand. “No thanks.” You politely decline. “It’ll heal you, Y/N.” Gently you put his arm down and start to head towards the shop. “I know duvis.” You tell Damon. The bodies of the four men lie motionless on the dark stained ground. “Y/N!” Kai hurries over to you. He looks at your arm and then back up into your face, looking scrambled. “It’s just a graze.” You say before he can overreact.  “Why wouldn't you let Damon heal you?” Klaus asks. “Because I can't expect there to always be a vampire to heal me whenever I get a scratch.” “That is hardly a scratch.” Klaus replies. “It’s the principle.” You say in a way they know it’s the end of the discussion. “What are we going to do about the bodies?” You ask looking at the dead men. “We’ll have to bury them in the woods. First let me bandage you up.” Klaus says. You shake your head. “Not enough time to do both.” “How about Klaus patches you up and in the meantime Kai and I will get rid of the bodies.”  Damon suggest. You know that he actually doesn’t want you to have alone time with Klaus, because he is too afraid that you might fall in love with him or even Kai for that matter. But he can also be practical and that is what he is doing right now. You agree and separate. You and Klaus enter through the back door which the robbers used to flee. The inside is trashed. You’re afraid of what you might find. Walking in front you turn around the corner, into the store, walking right into the barrel of a gun. Shook, you stand still making Klaus bump into you. It’s the owner of the gas station, and after he realizes you are not a threat he lowers his gun. “My girlfriend here needs some help.” Klaus says stepping to your side. Even though you didn’t like his use of girlfriend you show the man your blood soaked arm. “Should I call an ambulance?” The man asks slightly panicking. “No!” You yell way to fast, making the man suspicious. “We’re in a hurry. We need to help our friends but it’s a long drive and otherwise we won’t be on time. And besides, it’s just a graze.” After you finished talking you look up at Klaus and see him looking at you with his eyebrow slightly lifted. He once told you he loved it when you rambled nervously. Something you did a lot when you just met him, now you rather give him a snide remark or a good punch in the shoulder. “A med kit is good.” Klaus tells the man. “You’ll have to take those off.” Klaus tells you with a flirtatious smirk when the man left to get the med kit. “You’ll have to help me.” You say innocently knowing that you are still wearing a top underneath. At that moment the man comes back and he gives you a place in the back so you can both sit. Klaus slowly starts to unbutton your blouse locking his eyes with yours. “Are you okay?” Klaus asks you with a gentle voice you don’t recognize. “I’m fine, it’s just a..” Klaus interrupts you before you can say it’s just a graze. “I mean, you almost got killed, Y/N. As a vampire I’ve dealt with death a lot, but I know that for a human it can be emotional. So how are you dealing?” You smile at his attempt of trying to understand human reaction, it’s alluring. “Klaus, I’ve seen a lot of things I whish I hadn’t seen because of hanging with you guys. I mean it’s hard, but I’m getting used to it. I’m not that fragile girl I was anymore.” Klaus smiles. “You’re a hard ass now Y/N, but you never were fragile. If you were, you wouldn’t be standing here now with three obnoxious vampires in an attempt to save the world.” You’re too busy watching his face too see what he is even doing. You liked the way Klaus could almost seem normal. There were moments he could be rational and that were the moments you wondered how is mind worked. Because there could also be a rage in him that scared you to death. But right now you saw something you didn’t recognize as either sides of him. He himself almost seemed fragile. Vulnerable. “This is going to hurt.” He says and before you can even snap back to reality you feel a sharp pain in your arm. Your body tenses and gritting your teeth you look down seeing the alcohol he poured on your arm to disinfect it runs down your skin. “Told you.” Klaus says grinning at your reaction. “So tell me, why is It that you’re really doing this?” He asks. “Because I don’t think you’re enjoying this nor are you Katherina. Playing three guys at a time would even be top game for her.” Your eyes widen. “You think that I..” “No,” he interrupts you. “It’s what I don’t think. You’re to… you.” Whatever that means. “Since Stefan knows that I am friends with every one of you guys he thought I was the only way that the car was going to arrive safely with all of you unharmed.” You explain. Klaus is done and puts the stuff back in the case. “I think that he is right.” Klaus admits. “I see the way Damon looks at you and the way Kai talks to you, they would die for you, Y/N, you know that?” Not wanting him to stop talking you slowly shake your head. “Even though they have people they love they are willing to leave them to die for you.” Klaus stands up and you do too.  “I would die for you.” He adds after a pause. “Those are heavy words, Klaus.” You say not knowing what else to tell him. “I don’t want you to die for me. I don’t want anyone to die for me.” Uncomfortable you look up into his tender eyes looking back at you.  “Y/N, there is a goodness in you that breaks my heart.” He brushes your hair out of your face and puts it behind your ear. At this moment the two of you just stare at each other. “We have to go.” He then says snapping the both of you back to reality. Realizing that you have a long road ahead of you.
My question for you as reader is what did you think of it. What is is what you want to happen next?
The question of part one is: What/where is their next stop and why (if there is a special reseaon why they’re stopping).
And for every next part you can always submit lines you want to be said and I’ll find a way to craft it into the story.

Written for Klaroline Bingo @klaroline-events Prompt: “You’re safe.”
This is a sequel to Chapter 70: Summer of Salvatore, found in A Beautiful Symmetry. Thanks for all of your asks about this one and I appreciate your patience in how long it took me to come up with the idea for this!
Caroline just wanted to casually date the mysterious new guy from work. Something nice and normal. But the universe had other plans.
Chapter 115: Part 2 - Summer of Salvatore
"Crime is common. Logic is rare."
— Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, The Adventure of the Copper Beeches
“You didn’t hesitate when I gave you the address,” Caroline observed, taking a sip of her coffee. “I mean, I know you’re new to town, but everyone knows the south side of the city is a bit shady.”
Klaus let out a chuckle, amusement dripping from his voice as he asked, “Detective Forbes, are you concerned for my safety? I can assure you, given your act of valor at that crime scene, I can’t imagine a safer place than at your side.”
She could feel her cheeks grow hot, and she ducked her head shyly. She’d relied on instinct when Stefan had attacked them, and while she never went for the kill unless she had to, there was no denying the relief that washed over her once she saw he was dead. He’d been a monster. “I’m just glad I was there to stop him.” She fiddled with her nails, a nervous edge to her voice as she asked, “As much as I hate that you were there, I was wondering if you’d feel comfortable going back with me? I’ve been asked to provide a detailed report of my findings and I could really use your perspective since you may have observed something I missed.”
He looked surprised by her invitation and she hurriedly explained, “I mean, the methodology established to empirically score copycat crimes is measured in seven factors ranging from sociology, biology and psychology, not to mention influences of the media and even geography, and I just don’t want to overlook a single opportunity for a thorough report given the potential ramifications this case could have on future criminal justice procedures.”
Klaus flashed her a dimpled smirk, taking a drink of his coffee as though contemplating something. “Of course. You’re a widely respected expert in your field, sweetheart, and I’m flattered that you asked.”
She could feel her cheeks grow hot at his perusal. “Um, sorry...I didn’t mean to ramble on about forensics and crime scenes on a date.” Tucking a blonde curl behind her ear, she muttered, “Guess it’s been awhile for me,” and then immediately squeezed her eyes shut, mortified.
He reached across the table to hold her hand, winking as he said, “I don’t mind a bit of murder on a first date.”
She returned his smile, hardly believing her luck. It was really difficult to meet someone who wasn’t turned off by forensics, and this was the first date she’d had with a coworker who hadn’t been a misogynist who instantly discounted her research. “Can I ask how you got into this field? Have you always been a dispatch driver?”
“It’s a recent change for me, but I’ve always been interested in the more historic aspects of murder. For example, are you familiar with ling chi? It’s known as —”
“Slow slicing or death by a thousand cuts initially practiced in 10th century China,” Caroline interrupted excitedly.
Klaus smiled, his gray eyes lighting up at her enthusiasm. “I always found it fascinating to see the ingenuity involved in finding blades sharp enough in that era to gradually shave away the bits of skin and muscle tissue.”
“Exactly! Murder weapons are such an essential part of forensics,” she replied a bit breathlessly, her heart beating a bit faster when she saw the unmistakable lust in Klaus’ gaze. She was giddy at the thought of finding someone who shared her enthusiasm for criminal science forensics. She noticed Klaus suddenly stiffened as he studied something intently behind her. She glanced at the reflection in the window, frowning as she realized someone had walked in wearing a Halloween mask and the black tip of a small caliber gun was peeking out of his sleeve.
Seriously? Of course this would happen on her date. Taking a calming breath, she slowly slid her phone over to Klaus, murmuring quietly, “Call 911.” Using carefully controlled movements, she quietly removed her concealed sidearm, promising, “You’re safe. It’s going to be ok, I promise.”
The would-be robber had just raised his gun to the cashier when Caroline yelled, “Police! Put down your weapon and turn around slowly!” She could read in those tense muscles that the suspect would run, but before she could make a move, he hopped over the counter, putting the cashier between them as he made his escape. Registering the clatter of his weapon being dropped in the commotion, she raced after him, briefly pausing in the brick alleyway to determine which way he went.
Running in the most likely direction, she stopped short when she saw Klaus casually holding the suspect against the rough brick. Arm wrenched up his back in what appeared to be a painful wrist hold, his face was scrunched as he howled. Stepping over the mask that must have fallen off in the struggle, Caroline wryly observed, “Did you run track or something? How’d you manage to beat me here?”
Klaus shrugged, a small smile on his face as he replied, “Perhaps I’m faster than I look.”
                                  _______________________________
Something weird was going on. Caroline brushed some of the ashy residue into a sterile envelope, sighing as she mentally went over everything she knew about desiccation and growing more and more frustrated as she couldn’t find a rational explanation. Stefan sustained a gunshot to his tibia. Which should’ve crippled him. Instead, it seemed to enrage him further and when he leapt at her, she issued a fatal headshot.
She felt little remorse at having brought down a serial killer; especially one that had posed an imminent danger to both Klaus and herself. What she found disturbing was the accelerated decomposition of Stefan’s remains. What the hell happened? By the time dispatch had arrived, Stefan’s corpse appeared as though he’d been dead for more than a century.      Frowning, she studied the chalk outline notating where the remains had been prior to her team’s removal, and Klaus’ amused voice interrupting her thoughts. “It’s almost as though you expect the evidence to talk back, sweetheart.”
Carefully pressing an evidence seal to the envelope, she replied, “All evidence speaks; it’s just a matter of understanding what’s being said.” She settled more comfortably on the plastic sheet, blue eyes straying back to the powdered residue that clung to the grooves in the wooden floor. “Accelerated desiccation is almost unheard of in forensics. I can’t account for what happened to Stefan’s body. The remains appeared to have been subjected to an even source of airflow or aerated soil to damage the soft tissues in that manner.”
He leaned back on his palms, stretching his legs out next to hers, and the almost-touch of his body made her shiver. Crime scene, Caroline — get it together. “There’s emerging studies regarding destructive micro-organisms contributing to desiccation. I actually read an interesting take on this in Drs. Parker and Sommers’ joint work in the latest Forensics Quarterly,” he ventured, a small smile gracing his lips as though pleased with himself.
It was a statistical improbability that someone with those cheekbones would read Forensics Quarterly. When they wrapped up the scene for the night, she planned to drag him back to her place to ride his test tube until it broke. “Seriously?! You’re trusting Parker and Sommers’s research? You might as well say a Kardashian is a respected forensics authority.”
He let out an amused chuckle, pulling her in for a quick kiss. “You are a delight, love. It’s rare to find someone so enthusiastic about this type of work.”
Her lips burned from the kiss, and her pulse raced when she thought of where the night would take them. She’d never met someone who seemed to genuinely appreciate the science behind the macabre. “It’s hard for people who aren’t in the field to understand. There’s a certain beauty to it; the way the research can lead to a hypothesis and eventually a satisfying resolution.”
“There was a...case I worked on in which a body had been drained while hanging right-side-up. Utter poppycock as everyone knows the most efficient draining method is —”
“Upside-down,” Caroline cheerfully interrupted, “because the subclavian and carotid arteries’ location is ideal. No self-respecting killer would attempt draining without having a basic understanding of anatomy.” A slight tingle went down her spine as she realized that Klaus seemed to appreciate her dark humor. It was nearly impossible to succeed in this industry without developing at least a hint of gallows humor.
He shook his head in bemusement, and she barely resisted the urge to poke at those innocent-looking dimples. But they still had work to do. Clearing her throat, she leaned over to access her files, zooming in on the dental images from the remains. “I’ll admit I’ve seen some unusual remains during my career, but nothing like this.” She pointed at the obvious deformity, adding, “It’s a clear case of megadontia, but I can’t imagine someone willingly allowing their condition to grow out of control like this to the point that they have large, curved canines. Given the depth of the unnatural growth, he must’ve been in incredible pain.”
Stefan had smiled at her. With those teeth that had been so sharp. Too sharp. Caroline had been proud of how she’d handled the situation, but something primal had overtaken her when she saw those canines. Fangs. She shook her head slightly, ignoring the cold pit in her stomach that inexplicably had formed. Klaus looked decidedly uncomfortable, and she cursed herself for being so oblivious. Clearly, Klaus was traumatized by what had happened and it was selfish of her to expect him to bounce back right away after seeing such violence.
However, before she could apologize, Klaus abruptly stood up, helping her to his feet even as he seemed weirdly fixated on the front door. Suddenly, a forceful blow had the wood splintering, and two musclebound, intimidating men with dark eyes walked in. Their vacant, mindless stares were somehow more disquieting than their size.
“Caroline, there you are,” drawled a familiar voice, and she didn’t miss the way Klaus stiffened as he moved in front of her.
Peering around Klaus, her eyes widened in surprise as she exclaimed, “Dr. Maxfield? What are you doing here?” What was her biology professor from Whitmore doing at her crime scene?
He still wore the same smug grin she’d done her best to forget all those years ago. There always had been something vaguely threatening about him, but Caroline inevitably dismissed it as the typical sleazy college professor creeping on naive students and made sure to steer clear whenever he tried to get her alone multiple times. But now there was something more. Something dangerous. As he took a cocky step toward her, Klaus growled in warning. Wait — Klaus growled?
“Forgive my intrusion, but I’ve been following your fascinating work for some time now, and your research of the Ripper of Monterey’s murders over the past century caught my attention,” he explained, eyeing his two companions in a manner that was both reverent and dispassionate — he might as well have been examining a piece of art. “I’m certain your research will aid me in locating other ripper vampires capable of successfully hosting the Ripper Virus my lab has created.”
Ripper vampires? Ripper Virus? Not to mention his ridiculous assertion that murders spanning more than a century could’ve been the work of a single individual. What the hell was going on? Caroline kept her hand next to her sidearm, studying Professor Maxfield and his companions to determine the threat.
Suddenly, black veins appeared underneath the dark eyes of the two men who bracketed Professor Maxfield, their sharp canines inexplicably long. What the hell? Those were fangs. She was staring at fangs. Fear gripped her heart, but she was proud of how steady her grip was as she raised her gun.
She flicked her gaze to Klaus, who seemed strangely at ease. He rocked back on his feet, hands casually clasped behind his back as he sneered, “Words cannot express the trouble you find yourselves in, gentleman.” With his signature smirk, he added, “I’m Klaus Mikaelson.”
It was when Klaus shockingly revealed a double set of curved fangs along with feral gold flashing in his gaze that Caroline began to understand. She was safe. Professor Maxfield and his companions were not. The intruders stepped back uncertainly, no longer flanking Professor Maxfield like vicious guard dogs. “Ah, you’ve heard of me. Fantastic,” Klaus said, his chest swelling with pride.
While Caroline felt her heart beat a rapid tattoo in her chest, she somehow wasn’t afraid with Klaus beside her. He’d positioned himself between her and the intruders, clearly comfortable in this dangerous situation, but also not willing to risk her safety. He leaned into her, and her body instinctively curled into his.
Klaus’ voice carried a solemn promise that despite the insanity around them, Caroline couldn’t help but believe as he told her, “You’re safe. It’s going to be ok, I promise.”
