The so-called balance between [technical] difficulty and artistry, to me that doesn't actually exist. Artistry is founded upon absolute technical prowess, that's what I think.

I believe - and this is the case not only for figure skating but for other forms of art including ballet and musicals as well - that this artistry is very much based on having the correct technique and a strong foundation at the core of everything. It is upon these that the artistry is built, and without that strong foundation and that basis in technique, it is not possible to have that full artistry required as well.

3 amazing things that happened today:
Lunch with family
Time to write in this tumblr
an iced latte
How could I have made today even better?
Sleeping earlier, so that I can wake up earlier to get to events sooner.

"No one can see in the work of the artist how it has become," Nietzsche said. "That is its advantage, for wherever one can see the act of becoming one grows somewhat cool." ... We prefer our excellence fully formed. We prefer mystery to mundanity.

Why I’m starting it
I decided to create a 'glow up' journal because I was inspired by Youtuber Alivia d' Andrea's Glow Up Diaries video series. I was inspired seeing her vlogging the 'ugly' sides of her journey, a journey full of effort, of sweat, not a journey of effortless simplicity. A journey of unglamorous hard work.
I realized that I needed to get my life together when I overslept for a morning Zoom meeting with my lecturer, because I slept at 2 am consecutively.
Overall, I wanted to get back to the old style of blogging, one that is not aspirational, but one that is 'real'.
In order to motivate myself, I decided to use this blog to record this journey.
I hope to use this space as an accountability tool and perhaps as a realistic source of inspiration for you guys!
