When Raul had been a prince, he had traveled around to other countries, had met rulers from all over and experienced Europe's grandeur. He had been a younger man when he had visited England and France and had met the kings of both places. The king of France at the time had been older, but the King of England had been younger than he was. Though Rhysand had seemed like he was too young to have the responsibilities of a king, it took only knowing the man to understand that his age showed nothing of his wisdom.

Raul and he had become fast friends and, though Raul did not love to write often, Rhys was a notable exception. Before Rhys, the prospect of becoming king had seemed like the greatest boredom, all talk with no action. Rhys changed Raul's views on his kingship, showing him the power and responsibility in such. Raul had even written Rhys a letter before they journeyed to France. Finding his old friend was most definitely a priority.

When he saw Rhys standing in the hall, Raul grinned the impish grin of a much younger man and grabbed another drink in addition to his own, holding it in front of the other man. "I am opening up the conversation with a drink or else you are going to be liable to start talking business and we will have none of that," he crowed. "How the hell have you been?"

Raul had told the boys to stay close that night, hoping that they would steer clear of any tomfoolery, but knowing that, as his sons, he would probably hear about some mischief later. After all, he had imbibed his own share of alcohol and had already punched a friend in the face; he could hardly claim any high ground when it came to actions taken at the ball. Unfortunately, in all his own mischief, Raul had lost track of them and had completely forgotten what they had said they would be wearing. In the midst of the dance floor, he had not been able to see them so, instead, he had made his way to the edges of the hall, standing next to France's marechal d'empire.

Raul turned to the other and gave him a shake of his head. "As it is the way of things, I am looking for my boys. No doubt they are fine, but among the crowds and with the masks, it is quite hard to tell who is who." He looked out among the crowds, looking for Antonio's straight posture and Santi's bounciness. "No doubt you are having your own frustrations with the masks." He looked at the other man and noticed a slight bit of perspiration. "Are you not burning in that mail? Would you like a drink or some ice?"

open  starter.       he's  prowling  the  edges  of  the  grand  hall,  eyes  tracking  each  member  of  the  royal  family  as  they  all  flutter  around,  socializing  amongst  their  guests. they're  not  hard  to  keep  track  of  —  he's  spent  so  long  protecting  them  that  he  can  spot  each  of  them  from  a  mile  away,  just  from  the  way  that  they  carry  themselves  or  take  a  step  —  but  he  takes  precautions  anyways,  head  on  a  constant  swivel. after  the  catastrophe  that  followed  le  carnaval,  he  can't  afford  to  make  any  more  mistakes,  to  miss  any  holes  in  his  security  preparations.       one  hand  on  the  ornate  hilt  of  his  sword,  he  slowly  moves  past  the  rows  and  rows  of  tables  where  guests  are  seated  and  standing,  drinking  and  eating  to  their  heart's  desire. he  doesn't  usually  have  any  inclination  to  drink,  but  as  he  watches  a  guest  down  an  entire  glass  of  wine  in  one  go  (  just  ten  minutes  into  the  party  —  what's  gotten  into  these  people?  )  he  feels  a  pang  of  want,  the  stress  of  the  ball  already  starting  to  settle  in,  leaving  him  wound-up  and  tense. in  a  compromise  with  himself,  he  swipes  a  cup  of  water  from  a  passing  server's  tray,  downing  it  quickly  —  the  chainmail  he's  wearing  is  already  unbearably  hot.

when  his  head  tilts  back  down,  he  senses  somebody  approaching  him  from  the  side,  and  he  furrows  his  eyebrows,  turning  his head  to  look  at  them  with  a  mildly  bemused  expression. ❝  do  you  need  something,  my  liege?  ❞

Podia se dizer que a ficha de Gabrielle em relação ao seu futuro estava finalmente caindo: adeus, planos de especialização de restauração de artefatos, adeus, casa de verão no litoral sul da França, olá, sapatilhas de balé e coreografias exaustivas novamente, olá, um papel na história de O Fantasma da Ópera. Não era um sonho bêbado, não tinha sido internada e estava à base de remédios fortíssimos: aquela era a sua vida. Em algum momento, esqueceria de tudo que tinha vivido em seu mundo e seria simplesmente a sapatilha, parte do corpo de balé, encarregada de acordar Christine de seu transe. Talvez não estava internada, mas deveria ser, se realmente acreditava naquilo. De qualquer forma, gostava um pouco da fantasia: vinha passando cada vez mais tempo na Casa da Ópera, se aproximando de Christine e Raul. Julgava engraçado ter acabado no lado dos mocinhos, quando a Gabrielle adolescente teria feito qualquer coisa para auxiliar Erik (ou ficar no lugar de Christine). "Eu falo isso com honestidade! O Raul do filme não é tão bonito quanto você, fizeram de má fé." Sorriu. Imaginava que tinham feito aquilo para deixar Erik mais atraente e realçar a tragédia da história de amor entre ele e Christine, mas não podia falar isso a Raul! "Se eu pudesse voltar ao mundo real," as palavras saíram com tanta naturalidade de sua boca que só percebeu quando tinha as proferido, seu sorriso se tornando um pouco mais triste, "faria uma campanha ao seu favor."

Sobering. The sight of his belongings strewn over the floor and into the hallway took Raul right out of his buzzy state of drunken revelry from the New Year's Party and into a focused fury. Whoever had broken into his rooms had woken something in him, something that rarely was tapped. The King had seen his rooms destroyed and his private, personal possessions laid bare, including letters from his children. Gone was a locket of gold that held the last remnant of his Ana, a lock of hair. Now all that was her was gone and so too was Raul's self-control. After he had established that his boys were safe, he stormed through the halls of Versailles, every bit a storm.

"Rhys, open up, we need to talk," he called, standing outside his friend's door, knocking loudly until the door opened. "We must figure out who did this so I can gut them like a fish. Please tell me your great mind has a heading because all I have come up with is pulling people out of their rooms and checking them and I doubt that will go over well."

touché. raul failed to find the words for another snappy comeback, his jaw clenching with anger instead. he wouldn't allow joaquin to ruin the one thing he had been looking forward to. being home with family and friends was what got him through another tedious semester and he was going to enjoy every second of it. "i mean, you sure as hell think you're special. you're basically forcing me to leave a place you don't fucking own. doesn't that sound even a little bit insane to you?"

"oh, please, you and i both know there's no fucking way you'd stay away for the holidays." it was a sentiment joaquin had never understood, really, but then he found maneuvering his parents unhappy marriage to be a chore more than anything. not to mention every visit home seemed to be a vacation from their parenting duties, leaving him as mr. mom until he can escape back to campus. he doesn't argue about bill's ( because it does reek of piss ) but it's the last dig that catches his attention. "who the fuck said i was special?? i don't think it's asking too much to have one fucking place in this town where i don't have to see your face."

i basically have 3 couriers who are relatives. my main one is oscar, but there's also his sibling andrea/andy and their uncle ovidio aka the ramirez of their family (oscar and andy are almost never referred to by their last name). all of them exist in the same timeline but they don't interact much during the events of the game (because of lots of family drama basically). i made three main characters because i feel like oscar can't cover a lot of fnv content due to lack of time plus dlcs don't match his vibes at all. so andy is my old world blues and dead money protag, and ovidio is honest hearts and lonesome road protag. i "gave" them some base game content too.

andy travels with raul and lily, she's a huge non-humans sympathizer. ovidio travels with cass and boone and he's very ncr-aligned. and my man oscar works towards the independence with arcade and veronica. i'm glad to tell more if you're interested!

Sonny would like to think he was a good guy, what police officer goes to law school to better learn to help people? He dedicates almost everyday of his life going to work with the odd chance that he could get hurt with all the scumbag people he deals with on a daily basis.

So it’s a rare treat when he comes back home, home being Staten Island and his parent’s too-large paid off house. And it’s an even better treat when you were there at the same time as him; as you grew up into the young adult you were, you grew apart and his job was so demanding that he couldn’t make as much time for his family anymore, including you.

But here you were, laughing with your older cousin Gina over something on your phones at the end of the dinner table. Your mother was at the stove with your aunts finishing up cooking the feast that she had spend almost two days on/m—anything to have her family fed and fighter.

You could hear the kids laughing and running through the halls, the voices of the loud conversation heard from downstairs—but you didn’t focus on any of that. Your brother closing the lining closet door and looking down at you with a soft content smile.

“Been a while, huh?” Sonny spoke to you softly, his words only for you to hear.

Sonny strokes your cheek with his thumb, his long fingers carded through the layers of the back of your hair. “Has there been anyone else?” He asks, and you know what he means.

Not since you last saw him, which was nearing eight months ago now. He made you promise not to go off replacing him with someone else, that he’d always be yours and you’d always be his.

“Hmm, I dunno, I know this one guy—his names Sonny, but he keeps ghosting me: saying he has too much work and stuff,” you roll your eyes.

“Ghosting you?” Sonny plays along, faking a shocked expression. “well, he ain’t worth it, is he?”

“Nope,” you smile, “but I know someone who is…”

Sonny smiles and bends his neck down to kiss you again, walking you backward a few steps so you’re against the wall as he made out with you. Still dressed from his very demanding job, his police badge dug into your stomach.

“yeah? ya wanna tell me who that is?” Sonny whispered against your lips.

“… you are,” you admit breathlessly and you couldn’t tear yourself away from his blue eyes. and sonny smiles, genuinely, and kisses you again, deepening the kiss by licking into your mouth.

sonny moaned as his hand slid down to your crotch and he just held his hand there, softly rubbing his fingers from time to time. if he had another quiet moment with you later on, he’d definitely make you cum either on his fingers or in his mouth.

Boone is rough in bed, but he can’t help but be more nervous and careful with you when it’s you’re first time with him. The last thing he wants is to overwhelm you. Raul hasn't slept with anyone since becoming a ghoul, and he worries that he may be rusty or that it would be uncomfortable for you. Explanation: To some, it looks like a penguin. But to people who study the universe, it is an interesting example of two big galaxies interacting. Just a few hundred million years ago, the upper NGC 2936 was likely a normal spiral galaxy: spinning, creating stars, and minding its own business. Then it got too close to the massive elliptical galaxy NGC 2937, below, and took a dive. Together known as Arp 142, they are featured in this new Webb infrared image, while a visible light Hubble image appears in comparison. NGC 2936 is not only being deflected, but distorted, by this close gravitational interaction. When massive galaxies pass near each other, gas is typically condensed from which new stars form. A young group of stars appears as the nose of the penguin toward the right of the upper galaxy, while in the center of the spiral, bright stars together appear as an eye. Before a billion years, the two galaxies will likely merge into one larger galaxy.

Ok I got this reply about how we actually know so little about Arnold despite how much we've learned about him by @wondering-lazer and I would like to thank them because now I get to rant about this (I tried to reply but there was too much I wanted to say so I'm just making it a post)

Arnold is the most interesting character in the novel for me.

The way he is written is actually so freaking interesting because the story is from Rishe's pov most of the time so even if Arnold is being honest with her we only learn about the things he's willing to tell her. We slowly learn about him (the past with his father and siblings, the truth about his mother) and about his plans (or more like the plans he has for each arc), only because those are the things he decides to be open about with Rishe.

In truth Arnold is still an enigma. We know he loves Rishe it's obvious, but why did he fall for her so quickly because I simply will never believe Arnold can be reduced to the "She's interesting" trope. I am a firm "Arnold remembers the loops" believer so that would make sense but he never interacted much with Rishe in all the past loops so still, him falling for her so fast doesn't make sense. (actually I have a whole other theory about this but I need to finish vol 6 first to see if I learn anything new before I post that)

Also we know Arnold is not a great guy™, like sure he's the best and we love him, and he is genuinely a good guy, but he can be every bit of a villain he claims he is. We still don't know what pushed him to actually stage a coup and kill 7tlhis very evil psychotic maniac of a DNA donor which richly deserved it, but most importantly why he started to stage war in all those different kingdoms.

But he did stage war and he did kill thousands and even now he has show moments of the same kind of cruelty as the Emperor Arnold Hein of the past. Just as Rishe has deemed, we need to find the actual reason why Arnold finally snapped in the past loops to actually fully understand Arnold.

And still there are so many things left unanswered. What are his future goals now that Rishe has intervened? What has he asked Raul to look for in secret and keeping it hidden from Rishe? Does he actually remember the past loops?

There is still so much we have yet to learn about him, the things we know are just the tip of the iceberg and the day we finally get the full Arnold lore is the day I will sleep in peace.
