Whether you called this Hae Bee Hiam Roll (虾米卷) or mini prawn roll, they are equally addictive to snack on. They are filled with minced hae bee (dried shrimps) cooked with a variety of spices and individually hand rolled before deep-frying in oil. The mini rolls are super crispy with a spicy umami dried shrimps filling. They are available all year round in Singapore but just seems to taste that much better during Chinese New Year. :D Shown on the right is Vegan Prawn Rolls so everyone can still share the joy of snacking on it.

Gee, I wonder who it could be ;) Disclaimer: I do not actually know how lumpia are made, but Wikipedia says they're made with a crepe-like wrapper and that's weirdly close to the one dish from my own culture I know how to make, SO!

The batter can be tricky when he hasn't made it for a while, but it's not like Tim can buy wrappers at the store and have them taste right. These won't be perfect, but it's better than using spring roll wrappers.

"You're making crepes?" Jason leans in and Tim resists the urge to tweak him with his chopsticks.

"Lumpia," Tim corrects, quickly turning the wrapper over.

"They smell like crepes—"

"They're not." He spoons in filling and folds it up before transferring it to the waiting plate. "If you behave, I may even let you have some once they're ready."
