i’m posting this one right before i get on a flight but anyway. trucker sulu!! my man!! had so much fun with his design

should clarify he is not still a trucker. he was for a couple years, got burned out by the bad pay and long hours, then quit and sold his truck. before that he was in flight school, got his license, and wasn’t able to find reliable work with it. hence the career as a trucker

he and jim met back in flight school. jim brought him on to get spock back to california because jim himself is pretty awful behind the wheel and spock, being an alien, is not familiar with driving. sulu, having freshly quit his job, decided it was time for a little adventure and hit the road with them, on the condition he only ever drive for eight hours straight. when he isn’t driving, chekov is. in extenuating circumstances, scotty takes the wheel.

the steel toe boots and work gloves are left over from his trucking days. the way he sees it, you never know when you’re gonna get into a tricky situation you need to dig yourself out of, and the best way to do that is with practical, durable clothing. his t-shirt is from his fencing club. he embroidered the flowers on his duffel bag himself, he calls it his garden away from home.

Jorik: Assumes that it’s a failing on his part, because they’re perfect so it must be him. “I am sorry, ashayam. I will make amends.” Proceeds to double his efforts in every other department to prove that he is still a worthy prospective mate.

Spock: Raises a single eyebrow. “Fascinating.” Proceeds to study the phenomenon. As an afterthought: “However, this will not change our relationship status.”

Vorik: Tilts his head like a puppy. “Hm... No matter. I shall simply convey my thoughts verbally. You do enjoy my voice after all.” Tilts their chin up teasingly. “Do you not?”

Solok: “Another Human failing... It is fortunate for you that your other credentials blind me to this new flaw.” Smirks in a definitely-not-smug way and proceeds to posture as normal in an attempt to impress them. Deflates when they walk away, and hurries to follow them with an apology on the tip of his tongue.

Letant: Is disappointed, but cuddles them closer. Not even bothered, just deeply in love. Possibly even more intrigued with them because of the added mystery of being unable to read them. “Don’t think that just because we can’t communicate telepathically that I’m going to give you up. You’re mine, e’lev.”

Vreenak: Is disappointed in an angsty way. Pouts and acts slightly grumpy/prickly. He knows it’s nobody’s fault, but he had really hoped to share that particular intimacy with them. Eventually when his Human kisses his forehead and tries to console him, he relents and holds them close. “You’re enough just the way you are. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to act so childish.”

Bochra: Shrugs and goes back to nibbling their neck as if nothing happened.

Disco!Spock discovering you have romantic feelings for him would include:

•this poor boy is so totally oblivious, left to his own devices he probably would never have understood.

•he noticed how your eyes seem to linger on him, how you blush 75% more in his presence, how you smile at him, bring him nourishment in the forms of his favourite food and drink when he’s working, and so on. He sees all of that, but he doesn’t get it.

•he does feel like he’s missing something though, but for the life of him he can’t work it out. He tried to ask you about it but it didn’t work. You became a stuttering mess and quite literally ran away from him, leaving him perplexed.

•so he went to Michael. As Spock told her all the little things he has observed about you she listened carefully, and once he’d confessed that he was at a loss as to what it meant she actually laughed.

•when she calmed down Michael explained that all the things he realised were evidence of feelings that you were having for him…romantic feelings.

•he blushed green at that.

•so he took his leave from Michael and went to work so he could think and remain in disturbed while he did a logical weigh up of how he felt about you.

•he didn’t even realise how long he’d been in his lab working until you came in with a bowl of soup and a drink for him. He had seconds to take in your smile and evaluate how it made him feel.

•and he knew then straight away what he should do. It was like an instinct.

•instead of sending you away like usual he asked you to stay, he took your hands in his and taught you the significance of touch to Vulcans and asked if you’d like to kiss as Vulcans do? His lips quirked into a little smile when you nodded eagerly. He pressed his fingers against yours.

•it was the start of a beautiful relationship that like all relationships had it’s ups and downs, but it was beautiful.
