Lee: anger bean, kills mostly driven by rightous anger and/or to protect, is therefore violent and brutal

Clay: gives victims time to think about their actions and might do some mind games, murders are usually meant to punish, if he kills them personally, more on the "efficient" side of things

Griff: all about efficiency and getting things done, not many games because he's a wimp and can't handle himself in a fight, victims picked randomly and on a whim

Darrell: also efficient I believe? but there is the element of punishment and justice so. we've seen him do some kind of mind games with the "worse" of his victims while quickly disposing of the other one. plus, leaving the guy to be eaten alive

Skulk: kind of brutal but also just wants to get it over with and avoid fights (?)

Cylas: very rare uncontrolled outbursts, normally well restrained due to therapy and medication, but still always has some rage boiling right under their skin, in order to avoid lashing out due to their emotions becoming too much, they've settled on... "exerting justice", mostly methodical and brutal, has sadistic tendencies, can be swift and efficient if necessary, "there are times and places for everything"

Sonic booms certainly had its place in history. David Peters recently told me about flying over Cuba when a Soviet friend of the Cubans was arriving they just happened to be the right place at the right time to leave the signature boom boom. I applaud the X 59 and its effort for passenger air travel mission. But let’s also remember the sonic boom had its place in history,

“No one could believe that we came within two seconds of the mark,’ Colonel Richard “Butch” Sheffield, SR-71 Blackbird RSO.”

The Sound of Freedom. 51 years ago, on May 2, 1972.

During the Vietnam War, the word was out that the prisoners that the Vietnamese had captured were being tortured. They were struggling to find a plan to rescue the POWs. Attempts to escape had been met with beatings for the entire camp of prisoners of war if one person attempted to escape. In May 1972 a new plan was installed telling the POWs that if they hear the sound of thunder that they were to escape and run down to the river where there would be Navy SEALs waiting to rescue them. There was disagreement among the inmates about whether to risk another escape. A senior POW convinced them that it wasn’t right to make everyone in the camp suffer if they were captured during the escape. Without knowing that the POWs were not going to escape the plan went forth.

The plan was for two SR-71 Blackbird spy planes to fly over the Hanoi Hilton.

The flight plan was to fly the SR‘s so close that their sonic booms would be only 30 seconds apart. On May 2 and May 4 this happened. POW signal, May 2, 1972, SR-71 number, 979, first of three aircraft. The first indication I had that we might fly a mission like this, (where two SR-71 would crisscross over North Vietnam thirty seconds apart), was when one of the planners asked me at the OL “how close, in time, can you come over a point on the ground?” I told him, “as close as you want.” I don’t think he believed me because he said, “can you come to the point within thirty seconds to two minutes?” I said, “of course, we can control airspeed and reach the point at the time you want us to be at the point in space.”We had this capability because we had insisted at Edwards’, in 1965, that we know the time to the next point, (time to go) something the computer experts and engineers at Edwards’ never thought about and never understood why we needed this information.

Flying the mission was easy. All we asked for was a destination point be placed in the computer where they wanted us to be and the time to be there.

The mission planners told us to make it as close to thirty seconds as we could and they realized that would be very hard to do because we would be closing on each other at a combined speed of Mach six. Bob Spencer and I, Richard “Butch” Sheffield we were the senior crew in the wing at the time, and Chief of the Standardization Division; were selected to lead both the missions and take off first. Darrel Cobb and Reg Blackwell was the spare crew and took off later to position themselves to replace either aircraft. Tom Pugh and Ron Rice took off about an hour later and met us over Hanoi.

After refueling over Thailand, we climbed to altitude and heading north along the China boarder. Once we reach the speed were our inlets and spikes programmed properly, we clicked our mike to single Cobb and Blackwell that we were OK and going on to the target. They flew a random course back to Kadena. About three days after we landed back at Kadena, the staff decided to look at Cobb and Blackwell’s film collected on the random course back to Kadena. A POW camp was found.

On May 4, 1972 we did it all over again the same exact mission (SR-71 number 980, first of three).

Same results, but we shaved one half second off the separation time to thirty-one and one half second.

Joslyn: I tried to pass it on; though it didn’t go unnoticed-.. working the Bay was as boring as it gets, I was glad to retire. Isaac: [scoffs] That’s a lie. Eugene: We want you to come and work with us again.

Norma: As we correctly assumed, Mr Finch and co. know much more than they’re letting on; I have more questions now than when we set out-.. we’re hoping they’ll help us fill the gaps, especially given what happened to his girlfriend. Joslyn: What happened to his girlfriend?

Eugene: Mr Flanagan told us she wound up in Del Sol after being kidnapped, Mr Finch spent over a month out there looking for her. Isaac: Jesus-… Joslyn: Why do you need me?

Norma: They’re not going to trust us, but based on what you’ve told us; they might trust you. Joslyn: I wouldn’t count on that. Isaac: C’mon, since when did you ever leave a case half finished?

Joslyn: [sighs] They’re good people-.. they’ve risked so much to get this far; I can’t take everything away from them now. Isaac: If they’re good folk, then they have nothing to be afraid of. Joslyn: We all know what people are capable of when they’re backed into a corner…

Eugene: This is bigger than them. Joslyn: Exactly, they deserve a little leeway. If I convince them to speak with you, I want you to promise you’ll do right by them. Norma: You have our word.

Isaac: That’s sorted then? Joslyn: I suppose. Isaac: I’ll let the inquisitors back in.

the overflow of back2school

It’s not over completely as we have one more location that will be serving students this coming Saturday, but this past weekend nine back2school places served students.  It was incredible, and I would like to share the overflow.

No, I am not talking about the numbers and the data.  That will come eventually.  What the overflow is … it is the God stuff that took place.

There were hiccups and hurdles we had to get over.  Yet God sent us people who were a blessing.  The smiles and the hugs were plenty.  The resources were in place to do what they were meant to do, and honestly, this is why we do what we do.

It is all to share the fact that there is hope in Jesus.  Students heard stories about God changing people’s lives.  Each one had their feet washed by a volunteer that talked to them about their future, encouraged them to dream and prayed with each one.

Let me start with those who served.  Our volunteer team is amazing.  We had a mission team from South Carolina that was helpful in so many ways, and their church will serve students at Crossroads Church in Spartanburg, SC this coming Saturday.  Our hair cutting people were great and all volunteers from outside our church.  Many people brought food for volunteers and was so good.  Then our people, from young ones to older, did so much, and each one gave, served, shared, blessed students and more.  I am grateful.

Those we served were so fun to watch.  Some came in not wanted to interact with anyone.  But when almost all left they were smiling, showing off their new shoes and even saying “thank you”.  There were preschoolers who were so cute.  There were students about to finish high school.  There were special needs students who needed a little extra.  I love seeing those smiles.  I love getting those hugs.  I love the fact that they got things to help them this school year.

What I really love is that they heard about Jesus.  That is why back2school is so important, and it is what we are called to do.  Let’s share Jesus with even more people.

And we served.  We encouraged others to serve.

And we aren’t done.  One more location will serve Saturday, and there were students who could not come on Saturday.  We will seek to share with each one this week, and in the coming weeks, by getting them backpacks and shoes as well as that Jesus loves each and every one.

Pray for the students and their families.  Pray they will find the Bible in the backpack.  Pray they think about the story and truth they heard.  Pray that God will continue to help so many come to know Him.
