"Baldur's Gate 3 should not set the standard for RPGs" is such a corporate take I can't even.
"You shouldn't expect a $60 game to deliver a full and complete game experience with polish that doesn't include micro transactions," is what's really being said here.
Like, this shouldn't even be considered a new standard. I have to work 5 hours to make $70 after taxes. A game company willing to take that $70 and deliver a half finished product or something that's going to require additional money spent on DLC should really be ashamed of themselves.

So I saw the Raph post how Dorky is your Leo does he have an Ego like Rise and 2007 Leo’s (though the former’s is more of praise seeking apparently or whatever.)
Also how Aggressive is your Donnie in comparison to say 2012 and Rise Donnie one have a fierce But borderline mastered temper while the other one is violent XP
Also have the boys played any Square Enix Games (FF7 and DQ8 come to mind for me) and are they annoyed by Mariah Carrie’s all I want for Christmas song?
That was alot of questions lol
No problem! Let’s take these one at a time.
Alright, YES! Leo is a total dork! Silly dances, cringe one liners, and even cringier quotes from shows, movies and comics are all in day’s work for Leo. He’s definitely got ego, but it’s like average teen boy ego. I’d say Raph and Donnie are the really the ones battling for the bigger ego.
(P.S. while I’m still on the topic of Leo, the world’s biggest blue clad dork, I made this short awhile back that showcases more of his nerd side, Link here)
My Donnie is like a slightly more controlled version of Rise Donnie. Like he’s pretty aggressive, not as much as Raph, but solid second on the aggression scale. Violence is almost always a good answer, the only reason I say “almost” is because he’s more logical than Raph and does see that violence isn’t always the answer, just most of time. Leo is usually the one pressing for a solution that doesn’t involve tons of murder and destruction. Leo’s more of the mindset that life is something that should be spared if the situation allows it, whereas Donnie and Raph are cool with killing everyone and everything, they’re both kind of sadistic/apathetic that way.
Donnie plays FF6 on the SNES and later discovers that FF7 is available on PC which he gets as fast as he can. Raph and Mikey don’t really like RPGs because they think they’re boring, but Leo will watch Donnie play and help him with things in the game.
Lol, they all despise that song, but Mikey will purposely sing it just to tick off his brothers around the holidays.
Good questions! :]

Current on MSQ for Dawntrail! No spoilers, I did enjoy it a lot and actually think it's structurally stronger than Endwalker.
Not perfect--imo the Scions and WoL in particular seriously lacked development. Two pitfalls I've seen in characterization with more experienced creators have been treating characters like 'voices of reason' (so they're presumed right about basically anything they say) and defining characterization off of external conflict. So when that conflict isn't there, the person has no idea who the character is or how else they could possibly grow and change. It looks like that may be happening with WoL and Scions imo, and shit's frustrating because it's not necessary when they all have underutilized angles to explore. I am still very sure Lahabrea is returning imminently so it's not like I don't have any idea where the story could go in the future lol. I do think Square Enix has been pretty bad about pacing that overall though, contributed mainly by Endwalker. As a follow-up to defeating the cosmic incarnation of existential despair, saving a person and going more intimate would be a beautiful follow-up imo. But in the meantime, it feels like there are some insane missed opportunities with the Scions and Warrior of Light like I said. Endwalker felt like SE was rushing on the one hand, and on the other didn't know how to organize to have enough time to adequately address everything they wanted to at the quality level they wanted to. Dawntrail I think they told a really lovely story for Tural (and everything around Plan 9), foiled phenomenally with what preceded and sets the stage for what I anticipate. I really love everything surrounding Mamook. I like Wuk Lamat and think she radiates shonen hero energy lol. I'm not surprised some people don't like her but also you can't please everyone and I think she's very well constructed as a character so fuk da haterz. While I'm still living in Lahaland, if people don't do Wuk Lamat/Sphene what is even the point of fandom really? I have seen the Bakool Ja Ja thirsting. I am not thirsting, but find it hilarious and say godspeed to people who are. Do think Bakool Ja Ja is a good character.
When a certain character was killed because their opponent had a spare life, I was basically screaming at the screen LET ME FIGHT I CAN TAKE HIM. DON'T JUST STAND THERE LET ME DO IT I'VE KICKED THE ASS OF EVERY GOD. THIS IS AN INVASION YOU DON'T NEED ME IN RESERVE JUST LET ME NAIL THIS RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW. I weep for Lalafell mothers everywhere giving birth to human-sized babies.

Hi Clari! It's the Japanese-speaking anon here. Is it possible to join the anon club? I wanted to use 説 this Kanji, because I remember one of the first times I talked to you I mentioned it literally has "older brother" in it, and also means to explain... which reminds me of Touya-nii. But if not, that's fine too!!
Also, I see you're super excited about FFXVI, which makes me so happy! I happen to work for Square Enix (which sounds so fake, I know, but seriously) so seeing you enjoying it makes me feel like, somehow, I'm able to give back to you in some way? I love love love your writing and it's a great feeling to give back through another art medium in a way that I hope affects you the same way that your writing affects me emotionally.
hi hi!! so lovely to hear from you again!! (´∀`)♡
omg absolutely, of course you can join the anon club with that kanji!!! welcome to the club 🥳🥳 i’ll add you to the list! <3
I AMMMMM LITERALLY I LOVE IT SO SO SO MUCH the story has blown me away and clive has already become SUCH a comfort character for me, genuinely it’s an incredible game and i am so happy. i am also going absolutely feral for 28yr old joshua like,,, honestly i apologize for what you may see in coming weeks LMAO (*/ω\*) tho i am making a final fantasy side blog so you may be able to spare yourself from my absolutely unhinged feralness for the rosfield brothers anD THEIR DADDY WHEW
wow that’s so flippin cool what!!!!!!! i’m totally jealous!!! holy shit that’s so insane i don’t even know what to say other than i’m so honoured to have you here and a massive thank you to everyone at square for delivering such a beautiful, emotional game. it truly is a masterpiece in every regard, it has made me sob and i’m not even done it yet. you guys did incredible and you should be so proud!!!
honestly i love clive as a character, i love his depth and his complexity and his HUMANITY. his struggles with ifrit and his struggles with accepting past mistakes is extremely relatable to so many people, and i feel like ifrit himself can be used as a metaphor for a lot of different things: everyone will interpret it differently and relate to it differently depending on who their are + their life experiences and background, and that’s one of my absolute favourite things about art. and it was done so beautifully with clive in that regard. i, for example, relate to it by seeing ifrit as a metaphor for mental illness; not for clive himself but for me, and that already has brought me such immense comfort. so yeah, this game has definitely affected me on a deep, deep emotional level <3 thank you so much, you are so so sweet and i am genuinely so glad (and also flattered!! wow!!!) to have you here with me!!
#hopefully my rambling above makes sense hahaha#i just feel like fantasy as a genre can be used as a metaphor for soooooo many different things depending on the story etc#but especially when the metaphor is some sort of uncontrollable monster within you#i think a *lot* of people can relate to that#or even thinking of your traumatic past as a monster#not that ifrit is a *monster* per se obv hahaha but you get what i mean#his presence can be interpreted in endless ways#and that’s only ONE aspect of this game!!!!!!!#i’m just super super character centered tbh like well written characters are of chief importance to me and they always trump narrative#so that’s why i’ve latched onto clive so much#but the story as a whole is absolutely beautiful (i spoiled the whole thing for myself bcoz i couldn’t wait HAHA)#anyway i am rambling again#i just have so much to say about this game#it’s gorgeous#your message made my day btw anon!!!!!!#this is sooooooo cool#but genuinely i apologize for the absolute filth i am going to write for these men#whew#please have a fantastic day and don’t forget to hydrated n stay safe!!!!#説.anon#clari gets mail

Oh my fucking god they aren't even hiding it!! They're really gonna roll up to fucking Microsoft and Sony and demand a cut of their sales!! Sony which has outright stated that they will NEVER port Bloodborne to PC or any other console bcs they don't want to lose money?? Microsoft which is so desperate for more money that they're filling every spare inch of Windows 11 with ads?? Square Enix which apparently made the Deus Ex 2 team beg just to include a blink and you'll miss it Final Fantasy reference in the game?? Disney which basically single handedly destroyed copyright law in America so they would never lose the rights to any of their properties?? Nintendo who nukes YouTube videos containing anything to do with their games for fun??? The Pokemon Company which owns the most profitable IP in history, who's games never go on sale EVER??? You're gonna go to THOSE people and demand 14% of their revenue????? BRO???
And like, I am not making that 14% number up.
Forget lawsuits, this guy is gonna get taken out by goddamn mercenaries.
Actually, this Unity mess makes sense when you learn that they've got the guy behind such brilliant ideas as "we should charge players per bullet in fps games" and "all together the Sims 4 expansion packs cost over $800" running the goddamn company.

My name is Caleb, and I translate print/digital media from Japanese to English.
I’m credited as translator by VIZ Media, Yen Press, Udon Entertainment, Square-Enix, Seven Seas, and others on a steadily increasing amount of manga, a healthy number of art/tribute books, and at least a few books with more words than pictures.
My degree from Dartmouth College prepared me to work on Wall Street and hate myself forever, but the Japanese classes I took for seemingly no cold, hard, practical reason provided an escape route from that dark fate.
Escape routes are rarely as direct and easily navigated as one would hope, though, and mine led me first to two years of icy, crushing, emotional isolation in the rural reaches of northern Japan, where I taught English to the teenage sons and daughters of rice farmers and lived in a perpetually frozen shoe box made of rice paper. With no sex, drugs, rock ‘n’ roll, or indeed any outlets at all, I eschewed most human interaction, turned inward, and discovered a stoic passion for self-study of the Japanese language, motivated further by Japan’s elegant ladder of elective standardized tests for lonely, obsessive adults. The dark[er] rings under my eyes and blisters on my fingers from copying 2,500 kanji characters thousands of times seemed like rewards enough for my efforts, but the payoff continued when I returned home to New York and learned that I might apply my new (and only) practical skillset to work in an industry that would pay me cash money for reading comic books and re-imagining their dialogue in my native language.
What at first seemed like a side business on the road to who-knows-what has morphed into a career (how many years determine a career? Or is it a state of mind?) and this is what’s happening for me until Japan runs out of people to create media, the English-speaking demographic loses all interest in said media, or climate change kills us all.
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, eating, playing video games, creating derivative, nerdy art, and being an unabashed AFOL.

Ame Reviews: Obscurer Square Enix
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD
I'm not quite sure what I was expecting. I knew that the title had been intended to be attached to the Final Fantasy XIII universe (back before lackluster reviews of the main game - I get the feeling there was a very hasty scrub away of all plot references to leave Type-0 as a standalone game with only a few references hinting at it's origins, such as mentions of L'Cie and Cieth). I also knew it was originally a PSP game so I wasn't expecting the graphics to particularly wow me. I'm also pretty sure I knew that the cast were school-age, so I think I was expecting fantasy high-school hijinks and quests.
I definitely wasn't expecting the first hour of the game to be a gritty warzone with minor fantasy elements movie - though given the Square Enix proclivity for starting out with a long cut scene, I should have expected that, at least. There is blood and at least two named character deaths - and they don't spare the chocobo, so if violence to animals upsets you, be warned. I didn't get a warning. It's also not a quick death. And that's the opening cutscene, just so we're absolutely clear.
When the game actually allows you to play it, it's split between 'missions' - focused levels with particular objectives - and downtime - limited time between missions that you can use to trigger side plot events, restock, take lessons and train up.
The missions feel much like the missions in Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core - action-based combat on a small map with limited elements to interact with besides the enemy. Shows the PSP roots and I don't mind that - I knew going in - but if you were expecting a full PS4 game, you would be disappointed. The combat also takes a while to get used to - despite being real-time, it doesn't want you to smash buttons, more thoughtfully select your actions. Adding into that a full roster of 14 playable characters that you are encouraged to use and keep at similar levels to each other that all have different playstyles and customisation to them, there's a bit of a learning curve and if you're underleveled, you might be learning a new character at the worst possible time: when you've managed to kill all the characters you're actually good with.
The downtime is where most of the interesting things really happen - character get development, world building elements get revealed and the quirky NPCs get a chance to make an appearance. I would have liked a few quality of life things - shops accessible through the menu instead of physically walking through areas to visit them (and there's at least three merchants on campus selling different things, all in different areas), sidequests/plot events having markers on the map to stop me scouring the whole school between every mission and being able to swap characters on the fly outside of missions (since some events can only be triggered by some characters and you need to visit a save point to swap between characters).
This is maybe only really one for the die-hard Final Fantasy fans, but it's got some annoyingly good bones. There's the wide cast of playable characters all with their own quirks and personalities - it kinda feels like being able to play a highschool simulator with Organisation XIII! And there's some interesting plot in there, though in recent Square Enix fashion, it's a bit obscured behind the myriad bits of required reading to understand. Also some of the actual dialogue writing feels very flimsy - with a large cast of characters to play with, it's understandable but unfortunate that some of them feel very thin.
World of Final Fantasy
My expectation for World of Final Fantasy was a cute little fluffy game aimed at kids. Babies first JRPG. Simple plot and mechanics with a cute varnish of Final Fantasy legacy characters.
What I got was Pokémon meets Final Fantasy by way of Kingdom Hearts.
The combat is turn-based and features capturing and leveling and evolving (though it's called transfiguration) the normal staple Final Fantasy monsters (but now they are adorable as all hell) and stacking them up on one another (along with the protagonists Lann and Reynn). Stacking is simple to learn, difficult to master, as different creatures will add their stats, strengths and weaknesses to the stack, as well as affecting speed, stability and potential special skills. This was an amazingly refreshing way to approach turn based combat and it's actually annoying Square Enix haven't done anything similar since.
In terms of Final Fantasy, I was expecting the usual crowd favourites - pretty much everyone from VII, Lightning, Squall, Tidus, Yuna...but I wasn't expecting them to pull from older titles. Bartz, Warrior of Light, Sarah and Eiko make plot appearances! Also more obscure characters get a look in, like Shelke from FFVII Dirge of Cerberus...which I was half convinced even Square Enix had forgotten about! I didn't even know where Shantoto or Sherlotta were from (FFXI and Crystal Chronicles) but their inclusion was an absolute delight and made me curious about their stories.
For the Kingdom Hearts element... remember when you control Roxas in the beginning of Kingdom Hearts 2 and his Twilight Town is charming but something feels off and there's more going on than meets the eye? That's a lot of the plot in WOFF - Lann and Reynn wake up in their home town but all the people are gone. All except a mysterious woman who knows a lot more than she's telling anyone and starts the kids off on a magical adventure through Final Fantasy lands... except the plot just gets more twists from there and the kids realise they really don't know much about...anything.
As for Lann and Reynn themselves: wonderful original characters, really think they nailed the sibling dynamic and they told such a powerful story about power, loss, grief, forgiveness and redemption that rekindled my hope that there is someone employed by Square Enix who knows how to present and tell a story effectively!
I'd heartily recommend to anyone and I'm desperately hoping they make a sequel.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Preview - Square Enix Talks Aerith's Big Scene - Game Informer
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/final-fantasy-vii-rebirth-preview-square-enix-talks-aeriths-big-scene-game-informer/
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Preview - Square Enix Talks Aerith's Big Scene - Game Informer
Just as Final Fantasy VII Remake featured a predetermined endpoint – the escape from Midgar – Final Fantasy VII Rebirth players also know when their adventure will culminate in this game. The Forgotten Capital, the location that plays host to one of the most impactful moments in any video game, is the destination for the story contained within Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
Warning: The following article contains spoilers for the original version of Final Fantasy VII.
Since the main story and side content of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth centers on deepening the relationships between Cloud, Aerith, Tifa, Sephiroth, and the rest of the cast, players will need to reckon with Aerith’s story arc with a better understanding of the dynamics between characters. “For Rebirth, we are following Cloud and the party’s journey all the way up to the Forgotten Capital where we will seek our Aerith’s fate; that is the landing point for Rebirth,” director Naoki Hamaguchi says. “Along the way, players will see the characters interact and deepen their bonds with each other. That is a focal point.”
When I asked the development team about this scene, the jovial conversation turned somber. The team took care to spare any details about how that scene will play out in Rebirth, but it insists it has achieved something that will shock even the players who have played through the original scene in question multiple times. The creation of this scene in Rebirth started with a written scenario from writer Kazushige Nojima, who has worked on the Final Fantasy franchise since the original VII. From there, the team added their own ideas.
“Beginning with the original Final Fantasy VII, when we had started working on it, it was already decided from the get-go that ‘life’ would be the central theme,” creative director Tetsuya Nomura says. “I knew that we had to depict life and death within this title. Prior to Final Fantasy VII, there have been other titles where characters have experienced tragedy, but many of them have come back or been revived in some ways. But I believe that loss is something that happens unexpectedly, and it’s not something so dramatic or drawn out, but is something in which a person that you have just conversed with is suddenly gone and never to come back. I believe that the person who dies should not return in this title, and that is what we did with the original.”
The team feels it was truly able to do something novel and more emotional through Rebirth’s version of the scene. “I do believe that the way we have depicted it brings about a new emotion and a new feeling for both players who have played the original Final Fantasy VII and newcomers.”
“I was able to do what I truly wanted to show in this title,” Nomura adds.
Those familiar with the scene know all too well the emotional impact the events could have with deepened relationships and much better technological capabilities to express the full scope of the events. The way the developers tease how it plays out, I can’t help but be curious and speculate how it might differ from the original. After all, the Whispers that helped control the fate of Remake are gone; maybe things can play out differently this time. Or perhaps I’m just setting myself up to be hurt again.
All I know is that I can’t wait to see how this iconic sequence happens when Final Fantasy VII Rebirth arrives on PS5 on February 29. For more on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, head to our coverage hub through the banner below.

About Shirase same with Yuuka too but mostly Shirase.
How about Shirase? Are we gonna spare her? Me, no way. I won’t spare her. You are too crazy and too stupid if you spare that haunting bitch. She is a troublemaker .
Let it die please. Look at her existence, she is the caused of bad luck and worse, people like her can make illegal crimes so freely and they said it's part of human activities and humanity. She is a trouble maker and effecting our lives that our kinsmen will never loved us. Same with Leon Belmont, I was accused as Leon Belmont (HectorLaforeze) the castlevania asshole from Youtube, Facebook, Google plus, then his share link said they loved drugs and sex, that's disgusting fuck! That's why Fake KH fans and bashers bashed random KH fans before in all social websites! Fucking Koji Igarashi had meddled the mind and life poor girl who loved and enjoys Square Enix games so much, the sexist idiot warlock cursed the person that Belmont Trash will merge to MSX. The girl hates Castlevania because its a cursed object connected to her bad days and her nightmares including a random jobless lazy rubbish perverted men drug addict gold digger always came all to Rosella, another problems was Rosella was being called ugly from Sony Sketch, I was being called idiot because of that wretched perverted Shirase Hokuto, all of those losers made us look bad and losers. Remember about the real life, when Rosella freed from the rapists but the bullying on her had returned because they thought we are racists! KH OCS are very different to the Organization xiii themselves, if Organization XIII are racists so that means they hated themselves. The Marluxia Xemnas Saïx was actually us! Sorry we used our nephews’ names because we will be get threat as an impostors, that's what we scared for, when we strenghtened ourselves that we can’t keep this secret anymore then we showed that we totally exist for no longer using our nephews’ names, we confronted consequences that we are being threatened as imposters because the irrelevant idiots kept copying us, how annoying. 🔪

gacha game anon - you have my full encouragement on going back to fgo! for some of the faults with it, the writing in Camelot (chapter 6) and onwards is amazing, and from what I know it just keeps getting better from then on. im on anastasia at the moment and it hasn't dipped in quality for me so far! it's a bit of a slog until it gets good but when it gets good it gets REALLY good. and good luck on your protoarthur rolls! i don't remember when he's on gacha but if you've got $15 to spare the guaranteed SSR is going on right now and im 80% sure he's on one of the banners that's up right now.
i haven't played granblue yet but with that endorsement i want to check it out! im always on the lookout for new gacha games, I started nikke myself recently but nothing else has much caught my eye. i completely agree though localization being trash is the number one reason I usually quit on games I think I otherwise would have loved. but I've generally heard great things about granblue and would love to try it out. if you like I will keep you updated on that!
and totally take your time on mahoyaku, when you get to it I recommend watching a video of the game, or playing it alongside if you can get your hands on it as it's jp only at the moment. i went in with no visuals and it took me a lot longer to put names to faces and stop getting everyone confused with each other haha.
enstars is a very good game but the lack of access to translations and the subpar level of quality for the English version has been really hurting it. the rhythm aspect is fun, actually, but my heart will always be with enstars basic. which has no rhythm elements, but mirrors the original idea for the game, which was an idol game where people who can't play rhythm games could still participate. unfortunately they didn't even try to give that version an english release, probably because they would have to translate a good five years worth of event stories from the previous game that are hosted on that version. which is really unfortunate because id love to read the official translations for those. and thank you for that image lol im definitely going to be saving that for future use!
I didn't mind the first few arcs in FGO, but I've read a lot of manga in my time including a lot of bad shounen and romcoms so my pain tolerance is pretty high. My brain is just like oh man time to read more fgo *burns all my AP on farming mats* . I will probably make a liveblog tag at some pt though I probably need a theme so I can just put a page up with different threads im running through since I use my pinned for my videos rn
Granblue is honestly very dear to my heart but the like "end game" cycle is very unappealing bc its super grindy - that said the story stuff [the main attraction imo] is not power-gated so you're not forced to engage with the worst aspects of the game (i.e. multiplayer/ranking called "unite and fight" or guild wars, kind of similar to how idol game card farming works). The event stories & main story are for everyone, so that's fun :' ). Also they do fun character themes, which I love - I think most people got hooked once they did What Makes The Sky Blue Parts 1-3 (it's like an epic about fighting for the fate of the world but in a more direct sense than most of the early conflicts in the story) which you can do in the event archive nowadays once you pass a certain chapter I believe. The art style might seem somewhat familiar bc the art director used to work for Square Enix
Granblue is kind of funny because just, one day they decided "yeah we will support eng" but the login stuff & lack of a localised app. It's just a web-game so they never released it in other regions, it just has full english language support - thankfully it's just like a g-mail signup process not as annoying as like doing lottery for an account like kancolle was
Mahoyaku I'll have to just login to my jp itunes acc dl it and play along or st so I know what people look like

MAYBE..... MA Y BE. . . . . MY HEART WILL BE SPARED... . .MAYBE I WASNT A CLOWN AFTER ALL . .. .#sure i hate alternate reality stories but in this context it could work. it could work as commentary on the idea of remakes. i am so excited#it was all a fantastic prelude and now i need the actual story to begin. im waiting square enix. im waiting#ff liveblog
