Clos du Forgotten
This wine is ridiculously good and I’m crying a little. My least-favorite vintage of the past decade and one of my most-favorite AVA’s for cab in California and an inexpensive hi-production winery I am the BIGGEST fan of… so… where’s it at? Thick staining brick in the glass, a nose sultry of velvet theatre seats and worn leather but thick with glorious dense berry, glycerin-y and concentrated, an…

i'm loving all your vampire posting lottie! if you're ever so compelled i'd love to hear what you make of the books vs the show and if there are any book things you'd especially like to see done on the show! (also, bookwise, are you a lestat girl or an armand girl or a louis/marius/david/akasha/claudia girl or or or)
as someone who tried to read Interview with the Vampire thrice (THRICE!!!) pre-AMC show revival and simply could not get through it (it is melancholy), I cannot BELIEVE how down bad I am for these books right now. I keep seeing bad reviews on goodreads and girding my loins for each new book expecting the quality to nosedive, but 1 star bitch WHERE? WHERE??? I AM HAVING THE TIME OF MY GODDAMN LIFE
in terms of books vs show, honestly after a point the books are kind of Unadaptable unless they radically change the main cast, vibe and format of the show every single season, and the changes they made to IWTV were good to the point of sending me fucking insane so they can just keep on doing whatever their little hearts desire with the source material imo!!! howmever I DO have some suggestions for the upcoming seasons:
Lestat crying twice an ep (non-negotiable)
I would kind of love it if Lestat is the only character who tells the truth. the most reliablest narrator and normal girl to ever live. and yet every time he says something like "I killed a pack of wolves single-handedly" or "I woke Those Who Must Be Kept by playing violin" or "I snog my mother with tongue" Daniel is just sitting there like "............riiiight."
Gabrielle. Gabrielle Gabrielle Gabrielle. mainly I would like to smash cut to Gabrielle in the middle of really intense Lestat/everyone else scenes and she's just like peacefully sleeping in the ground... strolling through a distant jungle... sitting on a mountain looking at the stars in silence...
EXCEPT that one scene where she pulls up to Lestat's concert like she's in 2 Fast 2 Furious
it'll be interesting to see how they adapt Queen of the Damned because so little of it is actually from Lestat's pov, and all of it is amazing and cannot be cut out: [Stefon voice] the Twins, Jesse, specifically Jesse being haunted in Louis and Lestat's old New Orleans house, everyone hanging out/playing out terrible interpersonal dramas at the Sonoma compound, NIGHT ISLAND...!
I cannot stress this enough: GHOST CLAUDIA.
I want them to do Body Thief. fuck it, why not. must haves are Mojo, a random hunk with a PhD in Sam Reid's mannerisms playing Lestat for 6/8 episodes, Lestat nearly dying 25 times cos he pilots his human body like a drunk muppet, and, most importantly, Lestat BEGGING David Talbot for some old man pussy
oh and an entire episode set on a cruise ship
my favourite scene from the whole of Body Thief was Lestat turning David at the end against his will cos it was genuinely quite awful and frightening but also. um. you know. awooga
if they include Gretchen, then I would like the opposite of my Gabrielle request for everything post-Body Thief: whenever there's a peaceful, quiet scene it smash cuts to the wilds of South America where Gretchen is absolutely stark raving mad on the floor of a chapel with stigmata
I can't even begin to think about how they'd adapt Memnoch, but regardless I want them to keep the scene where Lestat drinks someone's period blood. thanks
also his cunty little lilac-tinted sunglasses that he will not fucking stop talking about
and finally, human Armand getting drunk and falling into the Grand Canal
bookwise, I am a Lestat girl the house down boots... I love his over-dramatic idiot crybaby ass!!!!! although the final page of Memnoch the Devil made me burst into tears and cry my whole face off until I confirmed that Lestat comes back as the narrator in future books soooo maybe like calls to like. self recognition through the other, etc. I do also get a shot of pure joy every time Armand shows up, especially in Lestat's pov. 'ah, there he was, the Botticelli angel, so beautiful. I fucking hated him. we kissed.' sis THEE dopamine.
currently suffering because I want to a) stop reading the series immediately so I can go back and reread The Vampire Lestat, and yet also b) never ever stop reading the series for love nor money. please help me budget this my family is dying
#I BET YOU'RE SORRY YOU ASKED#Interview with the Vampire#answered#books#also the fact that the show Lets Them Fuck#Lestat/David... David/Louis????... David/ARMAND?!?!?!?!#oooookay lesgo#p.s. I am 180 pages into TVA#the vampire chronicles spoilers#I GUESS

California State University placed Sonoma State campus President Mike Lee on leave Wednesday after he agreed to protesters’ demands to involve them in university decision-making and pursue divestment from Israel. Lee sent a campus-wide memo Tuesday indicating that he had made several concessions to occupants of a pro-Palestinian encampment on campus. The memo was sent “without the appropriate approvals,” CSU Chancellor Mildred García said in a statement, adding that she and the 23-campus CSU system’s board are “actively reviewing the matter.” “For now, because of this insubordination and the consequences it has brought upon the system, President Lee has been placed on administrative leave,” García said. The punishment marks perhaps the harshest disciplinary action against a campus chancellor or president in California over the handling of protests of the war in Gaza. It also underscores an unwillingness to divest from Israeli weapons manufacturers — as pro-Palestinian protesters across the country have increasingly demanded the last few months — among leaders of the CSU system and its sister University of California system.
California universities including UC Riverside, UC Berkeley and Sacramento State have agreed to study divestment like some East Coast universities, but none have gone as far as Lee. Lee told the campus that he would initiate an academic boycott of Israel, in which links to study abroad programs in the country would be removed from university pamphlets, among other measures. He also agreed to work with a local chapter of the activist group Students for Justice in Palestine to form an advisory council on some decisions. Lee further pledged to review the school’s contracts and a campus-specific investment fund called the Sonoma State Foundation for ties to Israel “to determine a course of action leading to divestment strategies that include seeking ethical alternatives.”
“In my attempt to find agreement with one group of students, I marginalized other members of our student population and community,” Lee wrote in a follow-up message to members of the campus Wednesday. “I realize the harm that this has caused, and I take full ownership of it. I deeply regret the unintended consequences of my actions.” Lee did not immediately return a request for comment. His decision to engage with protesters had quickly drawn backlash in the 24 hours since he announced the deal with demonstrators, which included them dismantling their encampment. California Legislative Jewish Caucus Co-Chair Scott Wiener, a Democrat, condemned Lee’s concessions to the “Boycott, Divest and Sanction” movement in scathing terms. “Yesterday the President of Sonoma State University aligned the campus with BDS, a movement whose goal is the destruction of Israel, home to 7M Jews,” Wiener wrote on X Wednesday. “Several other UC & CSU campuses are doing this more subtly. Sonoma State simply said the quiet part out loud. The mask is off.”
Wiener and fellow Caucus Co-Chair Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel later issued a statement praising the decision to place Lee on leave, saying he had been “unfit to lead one of our great state institutions.”

Studio Other Spaces Designs a Conical Structure with 832 Vibrant Glass Panels That Reflect Sonoma’s Weather
A bold, conical structure stands on The Donum Estate in Sonoma Valley, casting a vibrant kaleidoscope of 24 colors underneath its canopy. The work of Studio Other Spaces—artist Olafur Eliasson (previously) and architect Sebastian Behmann co-founded the Berlin-based studio in 2014— “Vertical Panorama Pavilion” is “inspired by the history of circular calendars,” containing 832 glass pieces arranged around an oculus opening to the north.

Only at the end of August 2023 Andrew Haigh's “All of Us Strangers” celebrated its world premiere at the American Telluride Film Festival. The 18th World Cinema Festival presents the “surreal romance” (Vogue) in its “Closing Night”. The on-screen appearances of Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal, two of Ireland's hottest actors, are likely to provide star power. Lead actor Andrew Scott shone in his role as Moriarty in the BBC cult series “Sherlock” and other appearances in “James Bond 007: Specter” and “Fleabag”. Paul Mescal, star of the British series "Normal People", attracted worldwide attention with his moving performance in the independent hit "Aftersun". Director Andrew Haigh will also have fond memories for Berliners: his masterpiece “45 Years” won the Silver Bear at the Berlinale in 2015, which the leading actors Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay received.

Save HIFF Love & Anarchy 🇫🇮
The future of HIFF – Love & Anarchy, one of Finland’s most significant film festivals, is under threat. HIFF is now calling on its audience to help. There are three types of tickets available for the support screenings, and you can support with either 25 €, 40 € or 100 €. The tickets will go on sale on 29.11.2023 at 11.00.
One of the most popular guests in the history of HIFF has been the Irish actor Andrew Scott, who visited Helsinki in 2014. It is only appropriate that we are the first in Finland to screen a film that will be one of the highlights of his career.
All of Us Strangers, directed and written by Andrew Haigh, is one of the highlights of the autumn. The film, which received top reviews at Telluride and the New York Film Festival, is a drama about loneliness, grief and a longing for love that gets under your skin.

NEW FROM FINISHING LINE PRESS: The Lighted Pull of Dreams by Abby Lynn Bogomolny
On SALE now! Pre-order Price Guarantee: https://www.finishinglinepress.com/product/the-lighted-pull-of-dreams-by-abby-lynn-bogomolny/
In this extraordinary #poetry collection influenced by the moon’s silver luminosity, Abby Lynn Bogomolny elevates us with gorgeous images to “fill ourselves and fly.” Yet each boon is balanced by gravity. From her immigrant grandparents’ struggles to those of her own, she writes with heart and wit of vivid Brooklyn streets, the pine flats of Florida, and coastal California. If you thrive on words from a #female-centered perspective, one with a strong sense of place in lyrical rhythmic lines, The Lighted Pull of Dreams is a must read.
Abby Lynn Bogomolny is the editor of New to North America: Writing by US Immigrants, Their Children and Grandchildren and the author of poetry collections Nauseous in Paradise, Black of Moonlit Sea, and People Who Do Not Exist. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, she founded Burning Bush Publications and juried its poetry prize for a decade. After serving as Faculty in English with Santa Rosa Junior College for many years, she continues to write and stir the cultural soup in Northern California. www.abbypoetry.com
PRAISE FOR The Lighted Pull of Dreams by Abby Lynn Bogomolny
The Lighted Pull of Dreams spans the toughness of immigrant ancestors to personal coming-of-age, from Brooklyn streets to rural Florida to California fog, forests, and classrooms—all with quirk and grace. In this extraordinary collection, Abby Lynn Bogomolny’s poetry has come into its own—her voice both witty and spiritual, her forms traditional and experimental. She traces the labyrinths mothers and daughters walk around each other from birth until death. And at the core, an earthy spirituality of being emerges in the interstices of time and place. Open the cover and enjoy!!!
–Sharon Coleman, author of Paris Blinks and Half Circle, co-director of the Berkeley Poetry Festival, and instructor of Creative Writing at Berkeley City College.
The hovering intelligence, subtle humor, truth and trust of self-love. From free to formal verse. From New York walk-up to orange and redwood groves. Bogomolny grounds us with her tenacity mixed with vulnerability. Her herculean song shot through with light and its constant transformations and revelations. She is the poet who knows the gifts and complexities of her craft, lines lifting from all daily senses into, yes, that well-lit dream.
–Leslie Simon, author of The Divine Comic, Collisions and Transformations, and former Chair of Women’s Studies, City College of San Francisco.
The poems in Abby Lynn Bogomolny’s The Lighted Pull of Dreams offer the reader a fascinating range of voices and scenes, from a nighttime dream-flight over the redwood coast, Brooklyn brownstones along the East River, an imagined eighteenth century summer garden, orange and pecan groves beside a Florida farm house. We witness a classroom of students on their various journeys, the passing of a beloved mother, the rising of the moon on a pandemic night, filled with dark uncertainty. These are poems of mystery and longing, humor and wisdom, moments of intimacy and clarity “when we become what we came here to know.”
–Terry Ehret, author of Lucky Break and Night Sky Journey, and former Poet Laureate of Sonoma County

Silly question and maybe you don’t know the answer, but why do people keep referring to Jensen being on the “West Coast” with his fam? Aren’t all his fam in TX and CO?

10 Easy Pieces: Burl Wood Side Tables
On par with our trend predictions for the season, we’ve noticed the return of 70s-esque burl wood in both restaurant and residential interiors. Here, we profile 10 side tables finished in burl wood for a restrained dose; a tip of the toe into the trend pond.
Above: Inspired by 1960s Italian decor, designer Yaniv Chen’s Park Nightstand in full poplar burl wood with blackened brass hardware on the door; $2,640 at Claude.
Above: The Holland Side Table is made from a mix of burl wood veneer, engineered wood, and hardwood; $1,695 at Williams-Sonoma.
Above: At McGee & Co., the cylindrical Burl Wood Side Table is made from hardwood and engineered wood with a burl wood finish; $900.
Above: The Cosmos Square Burl Wood Side Table is made of a solid MDF core with mappa burl veneer; $229 at Hollywood Glam Furniture.
Above: The Ferm Living Burl Side Table is made of FSC-certified burl wood and includes a hidden storage space with an adjustable shelf. When closed, it appears as though it’s a simple solid wood pedestal and can be used as a side table or bedside table; $925 at Ferm Living.
Above: The Arhaus Corey Round End Table is available in two shades of mappa burl wood surfaces (shown in the darker Braun shade); $1,199.
Above: The Volume Square Side Table in Burl is made of kiln-dried wood with a burl wood veneer in a patchwork pattern; $399 at West Elm.
Above: Designed by Brooklyn-based Mock Studio, the Miter Side Table in Burl Veneer is designed with square post legs and a thick tabletop made to order in the US; $1,400 at Claude.
Above: The West Elm Burl Nightstand is finished in a burl veneer with two drawers for storage; $699.
Above: The Ferm Living Small Post Coffee Table is made with FSC-certified poplar wood veneer with an MDF core; $925.
