Biggest Crush

Summary/Details: MC sees someone on TV that they haven’t seen in a while, and the brothers react accordingly. Fluffy and light, all brothers included!

You didn’t mind being squished in between Mammon and Beelzebub on the sofa for the weekly movie night. The former took the opportunity to not-so-subtly snuggle into your side, whilst the latter held a comically-large bowl of popcorn; eighty-percent of which was probably for himself. The movie you watched was some old film that the brothers’ apparently had some nostalgia for, but could only be found on DevilTube. Inevitably, this meant an advertisement would play every so often; and your eyes lit up as a familiar demon flashed up on screen.

“Woah, it’s Darkfang! Yo…” you said, tossing some of Beel’s popcorn into your mouth. The sixth-born simply smiled, content at seeing your cheeks so adorably full, as you continued. “He was the first Devildom idol I ever got into!”

A few noises and hums of acknowledgement came from the brothers. On the TV screen, Darkfang flashed a handsome, cocky smile, winking at the viewer as he showed off what you assumed to be a new fashion line. You feel a wave of nostalgia wash over you.

“Y’know,” you began, voice slightly muffled as you chewed, “I had, like, the biggest crush on him back when I first got here.”

Silence, this time.

Lucifer tensed up. Leviathan peered up from his D.D.D for the first time that evening, with an imperceptible yelp. Satan balled his fists in his lap to stay composed. Asmo bit his lip. Beel stopped eating. Belphegor’s tail thrashed against the carpet.

Mammon’s grip on you was getting a little tight.

“Hey, Mam’. You mind squeezing a bit lighter?” You say nonchalantly, eyes focused completely on the movie, which had started up again after the advert had finished.

Little did you know, no one was paying attention to the movie anymore.

Instead, each brother replayed the advert in their mind; determined to one-up their new competition.

Later that week, something strange happened around the House of Lamentation.

Well. Strange things always happened… but this was different.

Suddenly, everyone was into idols. You caught Asmo and Levi studying idol performances more intensely than you had ever seen them study for an exam. Beel had even joined them for dancing practice each morning - complete with synchronised singing and chanting. You could hear the commotion from your room, and it now served as your alarm.

You figured this fascination with idol culture was what got Satan, Belphegor and Mammon in the music room every day after school. They didn’t know you knew, but it was pretty hard to miss when Mammon’s cries of ���we sound so much better than that idiot!’ rang throughout the halls, accompanied by the rather-hideous combination of sounds from an electric guitar, a classical piano, and a cowbell.

Then, there was Lucifer. You tiptoed quietly into his study one evening, intending to remind him to get some rest. Instead, you found Lucifer sound asleep, his head on his desk… and a poster of Darkfang nestled under his cheek. Beside it were notes - meticulous, handwritten notes - with various facts you recognised about Darkfang’s height, weight, workout routine, diet… even his favourite pie flavour?

“Oh my Diavolo… I never guessed they’d all become Darkfang fans!” You whisper excitedly, blissfully ignorant to the brothers’ true motives. “I’ll start watching him on TV more often.”

(i’m probs gonna start doing more comedy amongst the angst storm lol. a lot of family friends way younger than me recently got into kpop, and i started watching and looking back at old idols i liked - especially vocaloid and kpop idols that gained popularity around the bts wings era. feel free to share any idols you guys liked as a kid/teen!)

These are in no particular order bc I can’t be arsed to figure out priority

I rarely go down there / the view's just so beautiful from here / and I can see everybody at their worst points / … / I'm not a higher power / I just live in the ceiling / cause I'm lonely on the fringes / and it gives my life some meaning in the exile / in my exile

This is like…almost too literal for Selora tbh. It’s mostly speaking to the disconnect between her and most people around her. And, at the same time, her version of running away usually involves finding the highest place to climb to (roofs, rafters, attics, etc.) because up is the last place anyone looks 👀

2. Scar Tissue - Moselle

hit hard and ask about the bruise / looks so out of place on a pretty girl like you / low bar but really what's the use / collect the reddest flags / to tie into a noose / … / it's like I'm running / after something / but it doesn't beat my pace / I don't think that it's a race / I think I'm in it for the chase / … / speak up they call it attitude / impress and it makes em' act a fool / praise the ways that you're breaking all their rules

This is probably the closest to her theme song (if someone else me was choosing lol she’d never be this honest even if it’s trueeeee) but it’s more true pre-Veilguard than after because she does grow a lot over the course of that. This is Opportunity era Selora for sure tho iykyk 🤷‍♀️ There’s also like a ton of lyrics in here I could have pulled for her to ahahahaahaha my poor bb.

3. Ready - Hael

If there existed a Karate Kid-style training montage of her from fledgling to, say, the night she took out the Antaam unit before everything went off the rails, this would be the song set over it. It also would for sure be on her workout playlist in a Modern AU. She’d also probably choose it as her theme song if she had the choice—but she does not :)

4. Take - The Rigs

This song is most representative of like the little interior voice narrating her thoughts lol the rhythm of it too is very much like a marching cadence which I think is pretty indicative of how rote some of the things she tells herself really are. Like bbygirl barely even believes these things she says to herself to make any of it worth it but she keeps saying them 🥲

5. Will You Follow Me Into the Dark - Klergy

This one is less for the lyrics and more for the vibes. There’s a turn in Per Essere Veri currently planned for around the 75% mark (which I can say bc none of you know when or where that’ll be) that this track plays over in my brain. If you’ve been here awhile, you might have seen me also attribute this song to Sel & Viago. That remains true and the only clue I will give you <3

6. Picture You - Chappell Roan

Listen, the time between the almost kiss and the lock in was a rough time. That’s all I’ll say. White-knuckling her way through being v Normal and Totally Unaffected and wow the world is possibly ending and we’re spending that time yearning for someone unavailable? Embarrassinggggg. Will go to her grave with the secret of how she got through it djsjsjsjdha

The beginning of this one is War of the Banners (Troubled spirits on my chest, where they laid to rest-) and the end is Tearstone Isle (Said goodbye to you, my friend, as the fire spread-). The song overall is accepting the consequences of her actions.

Weight of Living pt. 1 - Bastille (Regret Prison)

Can you stand the person you've become?

When you just can't shake the heavy weight of living.

No Choir - Florence + the Machine (Her feelings for Lucanis)

But the loneliness never left me I always took it with me But I can put it down in the pleasure of your company

One of Sabriel's defining traits is a soul-deep loneliness that she'll never be able to rid herself of, but connections with others ease it (with Lucanis most of all).

Why Am I Like This? - Orla Gartland (Pre-canon in the Necropolis)

Maybe I'm an old soul trapped in a young body. Maybe you don't really want me there at your birthday party.

The sense of alienation from others feeds into the loneliness at her core. She tries hard to be liked, to be useful, to be kind, but she can't shake the feeling that there's still something wrong with her.

Is It Any Wonder? - Keane (Dealing with Solas)

And now I look a fool for thinking you were on my side.

Sabi wanted to trust Solas. She wanted to believe she could change his mind, that she could earn his respect. She thinks she can understand him, but at the same time she wonders if she does at all.

What Will You Leave Behind? - Max LL (Her relationship to the Veilguard)

Mourn Watch teachings will always be the foundation of Sabi's relationships, and her greatest guiding purpose is to help people move through pain and grief.

It's a little off-meaning for the song but I like to think "a place, a world unseen to us all" is more of the future, an uncertain life after loss, where they can support each other through whatever comes.

I mean so far it's all from Efnisien's perspective. I don't know if that will change, but I am actually kind of tempted to write some of it from Kadek's perspective. We'll see! It would be nice to see Efnisien through Kadek's eyes, but I also think it'll be nice to see that change/evolution through Efnisien's eyes too.

Either way, we're definitely getting a story about Efnisien's relationship with Kadek after Falling Falling Stars :D

idea: modern au, kakashi gains custody of sasuke (a blast from the past! I wanted to do one from to do list that was from years ago, was gonna do orv ideas but it didn’t pan put so Naruto it is, the hashimada romeo & Juliet idea was very close to being done but ahaha I ended up choosing this!)

Kakashi wasn’t close to the Uchihas. But he knew Itachi and Obito. Itachi much to a less extent, but he could hardly believe what he hears over the phone. It happened overnight, the entire family including the extended family. Kakashi needs to sit down after he hears it.

Sasuke is the only one left.
