Hey y'all, sorry to have not posted in some time, as I've been in Graduate School.
These two were inspired by the Sith Empire Legends comics—specifically the Sith Religion being founded by exiled Dark Jedi and Sith natives having families.

*head in hands realization*
aw fuck [redacted] is a metaphor for inherited mental illness that no one talks about.
i played myself. i was re-reading an oresteia and realized i fucking played myself. the curse of the pelopidai is inescapable.
anyway.
“Why do you refer to the hypothetical Chosen One as a banana?” “It’s a joke.” “Really?” “Bananas have low genetic diversity. They only grow in one system and the current cultivar is a clone of a clone of a clone. Every banana is the same banana. It’s a monoculture. The Holocron of Prophecy says that the hypothetical Chosen One will have no father, so they’re basically born parthenogenetically, missing half the DNA that usually goes into making up a person.” “Like a banana. You're right, that is funny.” “Oh, good.” I feel an inordinate amount of relief at the confirmation. “They could just be Dathomiri.” “What?” “Dathomiri reproduce through sexual and asexual reproduction.” “What.” That makes sense, actually. It explains how you get Iridonian and Dathomiri Zabraks. Female Dathomiri are definitely not female Zabraks. Is this because of their magic? A result of some sort of Sith alchemy like the way the Dark Jedi were supposed to have created a way for them to interbreed with the indigenous Tsis population? “I’ll comm Jo and tell her you’ve got a new area of research I’m allowing you.” I’m half-way down the corridor before he finishes. “Thank youuuuuuu!”
#the star wars isekai fic#this is my pet dathomiri biology theory because there is something FUNKY going on there#zabtrak subspecies-slash-human/zabrak hybrids my fine anthropological arse they are#so i've made it that the descendants of the dathmiri kingdom are parthenogenic primarily but can interbreed with other '''close''' species#but this wasn't something they figured out until they arrived on dathomir itself (influenced by the planet's strength in the living force)#depending on who the other species is the hybrid dathomiri kid will end up looking like the other parent not the mother#while the parthenogenic ones are basically clones but are not identical to their mothers because again: dathomir#also in this house (fanfic) we use the proper word tsis to refer to the indigenous korriban population#& sith to refer to the syncretism created by the dark jedi hijacking the culture

i can't decide if the dawn of the jedi comics are actually good but i CAN tell you i'm chewing on Xesh like a teething puppy. the force hounds are insanely good as a concept. i am going to eat them. also, i can be relied upon to go insane about characters who see themselves as weapons and not people!
#anyway. he's blorbo shaped and hot and what else do i need honestly. at least the art here is better than totj#granted that bar is on the GROUND but you know. you take what you can get in star wars#also worldbuilding. my BELOVED. pre-colonization sith??? that have retained distinctive species markers after TEN THOUSAND YEARS??#how large were these SHIPS. how much intermarrying between species was there. how isolated were they. someone give me answers please#how much has the CULTURE changed??? i do not have enough information! and i need that information right now immediately-#ac says things#also i'm on prisoner of bogan issue 3 so by no means am i done here#pros: fascinating characters. cons: i can smell the encroaching Straight People Relationship TM from a mile away and it's going to be BORIN#i can FEEL it.

I think I’d like ‘grey jedi’ more as a morality/order choice if it wasn’t called ‘grey JEDI’ and had its own cool separate name like Jedi & Sith have.
Cause otherwise it just feels too jedi adjacent/too attached to said order - when I’d rather my character(s) not be connected to either side of the sith/jedi and have an option for my grey to light jedi/siths that aren’t truly attached to their orders/starting to go rogue from them/don’t conform to them to like align with than just ‘light sider/dark sider’
That way ‘Grey jedi’ as a term could just be applied to jedi that aren’t ‘Temple Jedi’ or whatever which is what I usually think of when I hear that term (not a whole separate order as canon puts it)
#jedi#sith#grey jedi#me who plays LS siths in swtor be like: man I wish I had a cool thing to name my char outside swtor but I really don’t vibe with ‘grey jedi#also I think for all those who find interest in the sith being not full evil or smthn it would make it a more viable option#bc idk if anyone else feels like this but ‘grey jedi’ just doesn’t feel like it’s own thing it feels as a faction/word more like#‘oh jedi but less rigid’ basically#GIVE ME MY OWN GREY ORDERS WITH COOL NAMES PLEASE#I feel like many of us just say ‘sith but not evil’ bc sith also just sounds cooler 😭😭😭 we do like the aesthetics alas#accursed posts#my post#also my own interpretation of the force is kinda like the sea#the deeper you go the darker it is and you’ve gotta be prepared if you’re gonna delve into the dark#aka dark/light are just social constructs people put on it the force is just the force and it’s SENTIENTS that decide how they use it#but that’s my own interpretation/view#it’s just usually the evil assholes who go far much like in real life 😭 with billionaires and such#also they’re all fictional anyway so we can just enjoy making blorbos or appreciating blorbos why not#also in the old EU wasn’t sith the name of the species that the then dark jedi took to use themsleves for their cult?

I’m definitely not saying that the old Star Wars Legends books were all good, and I’ll be the first to criticize them for all the interesting creative decisions and sometimes questionable writing quality, but there will always be a little part of me that’s salty about how they got almost completely discarded in favour of the Mouse’s new canon hegemony. Was Legends really that good? Eh, not really. So often, it was a case of ‘Cool concept, completely dropped the ball on the execution.’ Are there a lot of good things about the new canon that we wouldn’t be able to have with Legends? Absolutely. Is it still a shitty thing to overwrite decades worth of creative effort and collaboration for the sake of corporate marketing? Generally, yeah.
#the valley is posting#'cool concept; completely dropped the ball on the execution' is pretty much the default mode of legends#i think i'm in the minority that actually thought the idea of the yuuzhan vong was really interesting#but the arc dragged out way too long and stopped making sense a couple books in#the whole hapan confederacy could have been really innovative but just reads like a clumsy attempt at girlpower#i can kind of see the concept behind the lost tribe of the sith but nothing about it was well done#pair that with the abeloth arc which was just. uh. i get what they were going for but the constant switching between authors in that series#just meant that character motivations were all over the place and there was no consistent characterization#one thing that does amuse me about legends is every writer taking one line spoken by mothma in the ot#'many bothans died to get this information'#and deciding that meant that the entire species were intelligence operatives

Red Siths and Yoda’s race
When I started watching Mandalorian I was already pretty deep into SWTOR and I read a bit too many articles on Wookiepedia about the times even farther in the past than The Old Republic.
That knowledge obviously had later went into use when I saw Grogu and started thinking about the race Yoda, Yaddle and Grogu come from. The natural conclusion to which I came is that they must be an ancient species as there are not many of them in the Movie Era, and they have naturally very long lifespan (which the existence of Grogu put into perspective if he is 50yo, and he is still considered a toddler and can't yet speak, only able to communicate telepathically via the Force with other force users - which may imply that Yoda species is only able to communicate this way when young and at the same time establish them as majorly force-sensitive species just like Red Siths). Their natural strength in the Force was then established by the fact that all 3 representatives were forcesensitive and the fact that Yoda's midichlorian count was supposedly the highest until Anakin - artificialy made child - came into the picture and kicked him off his pedestal when it comes to the count alone.
It's also very interesting that Yoda, Yaddle and Grogu are all more prone to be drawn to the Light Side, though Grogu showed some signs of being tempted, but in this case even Yoda once said that he felt the pull of the Dark Side, so it's probably just a normal thing. Still, the preference for the Light may imply that they are one of the few races in the SW lore that are born attuned to the specific Side of the Force. Which brings me all the way back to the Red Siths and their natural affiliation to the Dark Side, because they are born attuned to it.
Attunement doesn't mean you can't use the other side obviously, but it definitely affects how you view the side you are attuned to - it’s natural for you to view one rather than the other as normal as it's part of you, your whole genome and your whole species. It also may imply some way of natural resistance to the negative effects of the Force like Dark Side corruption. I barely ever saw any Red Sith that could be considered "fallen" by the Jedi standards. Hell, we mostly met former Jedi who had "fallen", which brings me to the conclusion that if you are born attuned to the Dark Side, there must be some benefit to it. Siths also don't tend to shut down their emotions, which greatly influences their relation to the Dark Side, as bottled up emotions and unresolved traumas can affect the person in such a way that they will fall into the Dark Side with no control over it. Lana Beniko is my favorite example of a Sith to give here, because she is simply pragmatic, not evil. She considers killing in some situations just more beneficial than not. She is reasonable, she doesn't cackle like fallen Jedi, and she in general can be seen as sane and even caring.
Anyway, what brought me here is the idea that Red Siths are scarce or nonexistent in the Movie Era, which is understandable considering that they were 1% of the Empire's population already during The Old Republic Era. Still, they may have been aware of the existence of the species that Yoda is from, due to both being ancient species attuned to the Force. Maybe even both of them were the first species to study the Force on tython when those weird high-tech pyramids descended upon their worlds and then took them straight there?
Tenebrae's birth on Medriaas also implies that Red Siths existed not only on ancient Korriban, but also on different planets like Medriaas and Ziost that establishes their access to space travel as far as 5000BBY or farther. That means that knowing Yoda's species personally may have been very easy for them, especially if they met during some wars. I just like to think that if our Pureblood Siths ever met someone from Yoda’s species, they would be like “oh, it’s you!”

alright, first post of my new tumblr account after coming back after like 3 or 4 years haha!! so this is one of my Star Wars OCs, Astoria Cannossis! in my AU, she trained as Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Padawan a few years after Anakin began training Ahsoka! the dragon-like creature beside Astoria is an original species i made in the SW universe, called a Felucian Wraith (they live on planet Felucia ofc lol); her name is Salem, and Astoria rescued her after finding her injured critically injured by poachers. i won’t bore anyone with all the details here tho unless u want me to, so check out my insta for more info on her if you’d like (insta @ is in my bio)!! 💜🪐✨

Once again. The line prompt was something vague like “I wasn’t raised imperial” so I was expecting an equally vague response but instead I received whiplash from direct reference and self awareness.
#Idk why it keeps shocking me so much I think bc in so much of the game it's clear that it DOESN'T expect you to be playing#an alien character even though you clear visually are so there's a weird disconnect between what they look like and how ppl talk to them#(though it comes up way more here maybe by virtue of imperial class story => sith hate women and minorities)#But yeah it's funny how excited it makes me whenever the alienness is acknowledged and ESPECIALLY the specific species.#ANYWAYYYY it's way past my bedtime. Good night night.#sw
