I think about DWM every day and during today’s episode I remembered someone asked you, who did Silco get his tattoos for/who was he trying to impress? But now my phone is about to die and I can’t find the ask RIP.

Do u mind sharing who he got his tattoos for?

I've been trying to find the post too with no luck which is a big bummer because I can't remember exactly what I said before :') So apologies if my answer now differs to what I've said in the past.

In my DWM universe young Silco was a fickle whore who favoured the chase. Once he caught his prey he tired of them quickly. Despite Astrid's comment, I don't believe Silco truly got the tattoo for anyone person in particular. I can imagine him maybe getting it around a time he happened to also be chasing the tail of a tattoo artist, but really Silco never does a damn thing he doesn't want to do. I think it will have been the case of him wanting to get a tattoo anyway, and using the opportunity to also bag himself an artistic lover in the process.

Zaunite Funeral Tradition HCs

Since space is limited in Zaun I don't see Zaunites focusing their energy on finding and building conventional graveyards. I see Zaunites more focused on creating their dead to save space but weaving cultural touchstones to prevent it from being a purely pragmatic endeavor. They don't do big funeral pyres because air quality is already terrible and it alienates a good section of the populace with preexisting lung conditions. The cremation process is probably small and private, like prepping the body. Any ceremony would probably focus on what to do with the ashes, so Zaunites could:

1. Janna's Blessing

Release the ashes into a shared air shaft to release the ashes into the air in a ceremony that incorporates Janna's blessing of strong cleansing winds to give flight to their souls into the afterlife. Richer Zaunites can afford to travel higher up Zaun and even arrange it by the seashore, while poorer Zaunites, especially those in the Sump, keep track of reliable exhaust fans that have the most direct route to the surface for their loved ones ashes (soul) to reach. And yes, I did get inspiration from Vent/Barbados' story quest from Genshin Inpact for this one.

2. Funeral March to the Fault Lines

Zaunites convert the ashes of the deseased into stone and do a funeral march to place the stone inside unstable faults in the Fissures which would express the strength and stability Zaunites give one another in life and death. Zaunites might take to building up specific sections of the faults for larger families. It could also offer the grounding effect of recognizing the solidarity of Zaunites is what made a formally arduous trek into something safer and that less skilled family members can participate in.

3. Ashes Upon the Flesh

My favorite hc is that those closest to the one who past uses the ashes of the deceased to receive funeral tattoos. The funeral itself is largely a party for the guests but the main event is when the tattoos are complete and are showcased to funeral members as the recievers give a eulogy to the deceased.

The tattoo receiver(s) are mostly secluded from the party as they receive the tattoos, the seclusion is meant to be nearly meditative as the tattooed mourner is meant to reflect in the deceased as they receive a design meant to represent the one who passed.

The length of the funeral is dependent on how long the tattoo takes. The bigger and more elaborate the tattoo the bigger and longer the funeral party is (a great way to show off some prestige in the community). I thought it could be an interesting way to further integrate Zaun's art into its culture.

I imagine that not all of the funeral ink would need to be used for every funeral, maybe the deceased never named a kin to receive their body onto their own. So leftover ink is probably added to family preservation jars thay can be used for other related ceremonies like achievements and marriages. Maybe they could later be used to paint family murals.

Funeral Masks

Most Zaunites don't wear masks on a casual basis, but in respect for the deceased so they avoid inhaling their remains Zaunites dawn their masks. Most of the masks are hand-me-downs that aren't well filtered enough for the gasses pervasive in Zaun today, but they get the job done blocking particulate matter like ash. Overtime these gas masks became stylized with the mementos and trinkets those who passed sewn like patchwork over the fabric. Some Zaunites have layered masks of passed down family jewelry dangling off their masks. Some Zaunites take the time to completely redesign and retrofit a custom mask for themselves, a practice more popular to Zaun's new money like the chembarons.

You know those headcanons that are incredibly trivial and harmless, but still grind your gears and you absolutely hate them? Well for me one of them is the headcanon that Silco would be somewhat of a conservative, helicopter parent who disapproves of Jinx's tattoos and clothes, and would advise her to cover up💀 girl this man was born and raised in THE UNDERCITY. The lawless, hedonistic land where kids are allowed and even encouraged to participate in criminal activity, beat each other's asses, and they run around and play in the same streets that have busy brothels that cater to the weirdest fringe sexual tastes. All of this is seen as a part of daily life for undercity citizens. I doubt they have a concept of who is too young to get tattoos.

Silco probably didn't even blink when Jinx came home from some shady ass parlour decked out in her blue clouds, and if he said anything at all it was probably "Looks great, dear."

Just got back from getting a Silco tattoo and just a heads up from someone whose tattoos have never felt like anything more than some soft tapping:

I find it odd that most people in Zaun have tattoos, and we don't know if Silco has them too. He is always fully clothed and shows as little body as possible so my headcanon is that he had a lot of failed tattoos in his youth which he is now ashamed of. What do you think about that?

makes more sense if you know my metalhead au fic, but it's very easy to make the question without it:

In a modernverse AU where Silco was a guitarrist for a Death Metal band between 1996-2011 (ages 16-31), do you think he'd have tattoos on his arms and hands?

I do still plan to make a cospoor metalhead version of him with a tshirt and a battle vest and I haven't decided what to do with the exposed skin of the arms.

On one hand it makes sense if he did have tattoos (of what though? Whole different brainstorm session, suggestions are highly appreciated), but at the same time I wonder if it'd match his personality inside and outside canon.

(tattoo subject-wise, his band years were pre-Jinx, but honestly I will not care much for time-continuity on my cospoor, I think I will go with what I think looks cool - like having a 'Jinxed' patch on the vest, Jinx's band in the current events of the story)

out of all the people in silco's little gang, you never understood why people thought sevika was scariest.

silco is scary. the man never raises his voice, doesn't bat an eye when he orders someone's death, and seemingly feels no remorse about anything... ever. he could blow over in a strong wind, but somehow, through sliminess alone, he's come to rule the entire undercity. that's scary.

lock is scary. just the pure physical size of him is intimidating enough, but add onto that the scars, prison tattoos, and the added strength of shimmer-- the man looks more like a killing machine than a human sometimes.

ran freaks you the fuck out-- they're quiet as fuck on their feet, and they've never missed a target-- sometimes, you think you see them in the shadows of your apartment at night.

but sevika?! sevika's not scary.

sevika's a fucking grandpa.

sevika's happiest when she's gambling with her boys, a cigarette in her mouth, you in her lap.

sevika loves to read but always falls asleep a chapter or two in, snoring as her book falls closed in her hands.

sevika can't be left alone around a freshly baked sweet treat-- or she'll eat the entire thing in one sitting.

"you're married to sevika!?" a goon asks one evening while you wait for her to wrap up her work.

you blink at the man in front of you, trying to place him. he must be a new hire. "why is that surprising to you?" you ask.

"you seem so normal, and sevika's scary!" he squawks. you huff and roll your eyes.

"have you ever tried to get to know her? or do you just let the eyeliner and mech arm scare you off?" you ask. the man ties to speak, but a flash of anger sparks up in you. "you know, i bet you wouldn't be saying this if sevika was a man. why is sevika scary? 'cause she's a woman with power-- that's why." you're ranting now, defensive of your wife and getting worked up.

"no, that's not--"

"baby!" sevika's sweet voice calls. your little argument is completely forgotten as you turn around to greet your wife with a dreamy sigh.

"sevi-bear." you coo, pulling sevika in for a hug. she nuzzles against your throat, humming happily as you comb your fingers through her hair. "let's get outta here baby. made some brownies for you-- they're cooling off at home."

"fuck. i love you so much."

the pair of you leave the bar, tangled in each other's arms, none the wiser to the flabbergasted goon you left behind.

(sevika had threatened to tie a noose around his balls and let him dangle from the rafters earlier today when he'd joked about cheating at a game of cards.)

(now he's questioning his sanity, because the same woman who made him shit his pants in fear at lunchtime is giggling and covering her very defensive, slightly delusional wife in smooches as you two leave the bar hand in hand.)

Casual Nudity Sevika x Rey

Finished thisone sooner than I expected! Sevika with my Arcane persona, Rey. (Still working on them btw so the name might change, or not.) Thanks for enabling me by supporting all these silly doodles with our collective wife. I lover her so much UUUUUGH. . If you want to know more about my persona, this is the few things I came up with : - She/they - she's a tattoo artist in Zaun (which makes me cackle bc I love some HC I read some days ago, that Sevika is afraid of needles and it makes so much sense. Like, girl, you are this badass and lesbian and NO piercing or tatts? she is afraid of needles alright.) - she's 30-ish - she did a lot of tats for silco's gang - she met Sev years ago, when she was doing a flash night at The Last Drop (does such place has these kind of things? prob not but I do what I want) - Rey had a lil crush but didn't do anything about it bc she knew sev was trouble, and sev found her cute but nothing more. She is a workaholic. I have other stuff but that's already a pretty long post and I'm not sure a lot of people care about my blorbo (if you read everything ily mwa) more doodles incoming

The Season 2 Opening. We Must Discuss.

First of all, small beans. Instead of static, lifeless statues, this time we get moving humans. Mel features significantly more than I expected, so she'll probably be a much more major character than I expected for a non-champion character and I'm so happy for her. I believe the use of moving people instead of statues signifies that immense change will be happening. What we thought was literally set in stone in Season 1 will be turned on its head in Season 2.

Okay, on to the really concerning matters.

Yuhuh. Jinx moves too fast for me to get a good screenshot, but she gestures like this around her face a lot. I think we all already know about the Caitlyn-Jinx parallels, but my sister suggests it could be a red herring for the actual resemblances she has to Silco.

Sis gets credit for the following observation, but Caitlyn's daydream sequences about shooting Jinx are controlled and clearly separated from reality unlike Jinx's.

However, sis has not seen ep 2 yet, where Caitlyn does have that moment in the arcade where she shoots her vision of Jinx among the wooden dummies. Not only does this more closely resemble Jinx's hallucinations, it also parallels Jinx shooting the harmless crow in s1 e5. By the time the strike squad are about to leave, she can clearly tell that what she thought might be Jinx was really just a harmless wooden standee. Startling, but harmless. She shoots it anyway.

Caitlyn is totally gonna spiral more, and maybe she'll start losing her grip on reality too, but for now, she has more in common with Silco than she does with Jinx. Did anyone else get reminded of Silco's coat when Ambessa put the supervillain cape on Caitlyn? The collars don't look similar but they still eerily resemble each other, you get me?

Ok back to intro stuff

Vi wipes off her name from her face. That's two tattoos that are rendered impermanent in this opening theme. In the Fenty x Arcane video, they mention that Mel's golden freckles are tattoos. Later in the intro song, we also see her golden freckles gone. Change, impermanence. That seems to be a theme here.

Vi is literally erasing her name from her face. In any normal circumstance, I'd say that means she wants a change of identity, a desire to start over. However, I know that Vi's League lore involves amnesia. Does she really drink herself into that bad of a stupor? Jkjk. I assumed that her amnesia was replaced by the Stillwater imprisonment to explain how she got topside and with the enforcers, but perhaps I was wrong. Maybe they do still intend to go the amnesia or partial amnesia route with her.

The teasers implied that Vi shares the genetic trait that has Jinx predisposed to hallucinations. It's possible that this eventually contributes to her loss of memory, but I wouldn't call it quite yet. However, if this happens during her emo era when I'm assuming she has no support system, she'll be very vulnerable, unlike if it were to happen while she was still partnered with Caitlyn, in which case they could easily fill in most blanks in her memory.

I have no idea what to make of this. It's clear as day what they're paralleling, but why? Why the flashlight scene? My best guess is that they're trying to draw on déjà vu, implying a repetition of history, but why this particular moment? They could've easily chosen anything else in Jayce's s1 arc. He has many more memorable moments than this. Let's see, I'm literally making this up as I go.

This meeting was a pivotal moment for Jayce. Both his meeting with Viktor and his meeting with Mel changed his fate. The Viktor one is pretty self-explanatory, but without meeting Mel, they would've both just gotten exiled or locked up again. With Mel, they had someone in power who could vouch for them.

That begs the question, is Jayce meeting someone new? Or is this a reintroduction to someone he's already known before, a new meeting after a long time apart or after a significant change, maybe a change in them both. I believe it must be someone who was involved in the original hallway scene.

Jayce is either looking at Mel again or at Viktor. Given the amount of Viktor/Mel parallels in Season 1, I believe Jayce is looking at Viktor after he's undergone his likely final evolution. That'll obviously be another pivotal moment for him... but will it be a good one like it was with Mel? Viktor has power now. He's performing miracles. He's, like, two steps away from parting the Pilt River like it's the Red Sea. He seems to hold a grudge against Jayce, though, for *checks notes* saving his life? Jk I know he feels like he's losing autonomy and like Jayce didn't respect his wishes with the Hexcore and Jayce obviously couldn't let Viktor die when he'd fought so hard to stay alive before.

Anyway, I feel like this could easily be both a good omen and a bad omen for Jayce. More than anything, I feel like it'll be an epiphany. He is quite literally seeing the light. The light at the end of the dark tunnel? The light of the heavens at the end of his life? The light of a revelation sent by a god he once knew as a man?

Seeing Mel screaming bloody murder during the opening, this was the first place my mind went to. The pose doesn't match up exactly, and Jinx/Powder's screams are definitely wilder, but I feel like there's definitely something here. Is there anyone else who screams like this, thrusting their head forward and keeping their arms back?

We also see the shadow hands from this earlier shot:

I'm thinking of the Black Rose (is that their name?) kidnapping her in thin air, incorporeal hands reaching at her and snatching my joy the love of my life Mel away. It could also represent people grasping at the power Mel wields, both as the wealthiest Council member and as a Noxian princess, one of the closest people to Ambessa, the one wielding the most power right now.

Mel is really out of her depth right now. Her power and influence is up for grabs if she dares to blink and let her guard down. I'm also surprised that we don't see her fight back at all when there's danger around. I thought she might have more battle experience as she was raised by Ambessa. For those people wondering about her magical powers, I think she would've used them by now if she had them. Council attack aside, which could've been Viktor's magic, she wasn't able to do anything about the memorial attack or her own kidnapping. I think they're trying to show us that Mel is not as untouchable as she presents herself. Under the right circumstances, she's just as vulnerable as any civilian.

The sliver of light? My sister pointed out that it looks just like the crack of light between two double doors. Almost closed... or barely open? It appears in pretty much everyone's shot in the opening, but it's right down the center of Mel's face here. Is she torn between two sides? Is this about an impossible choice she has to make?

The spotlight is also on her. That's two sources of light. It looks like a red sun. All eyes on her as the surviving voice of the Council?

And her expression... shock, fear, horror. The heavy breathing, the look on her face... I feel eerily like I've seen it on someone else before. I can't place who, but I'm getting déjà vu from this. Does anyone else recognize this expression and these mannerisms?

Alright, I’m typically not like this but something needs to be addressed

We aren’t talking enough about how hot Jinx is. Silco is really to call her perfect in every way and it makes me want to scream.

Her smile, amazing. Her rage, breathtaking. Her sadness, poetry. Jinx’s eyes could change a thousand times and they’d be stunning all the same.

The cloud tattoos have me obsessed. Her facial features are always soft and rough at the same time. Everyone emotion is a picture and her hair is everything. She is both the eye of a hurricane and the entire fucking storm. I know Ekko punches the air every day mad they aren’t on the same side.

I know she’s a red flag in every way but listen, her attachment issues are only a problem if you leave, and I simply would not. Problem solved. Why would leave someone so cool and smart?

This scene has a grip on me! It’s so beautiful and tragic! She is blue, feeling blue, in a sea of blue and I’m eating it up. I love everything about Jinx so much and it’s crazy!

Thank you for your time. I will now attempt to act normal about her again until Arcane eventually gives me a scene to make me fold again.
