Shrimp Dumplings

Buying a huge bag of frozen shrimp meant I was finally going to further dive into the world of seafood, and conquer my worry about overcooking it. I started to eat shrimp a few years ago when my company ordered Japanese food for lunch, and in my bento box came 2 pieces of hibachi shrimp. Even though it wasn’t straight off the hibachi, they were delicious! Since then, I’ve ordered shrimp at many different kinds of restaurants, and I was eager to figure out how to replicate garlic shrimp with pasta, shrimp tacos, and today’s recipe: shrimp dumplings. I now love to get shrimp dishes when I get Chinese takeout, and Jessie and I were eager to try cooking something other than Italian to switch things up.

This recipe is definitely involved - it took us about 4 hours, with the most amount of time being devoted to filling each dumpling and cooking it. We also ended up having to make a few extra dumpling wrappers midway through because there was so much filling. My other note about this recipe would be to put the filling in a food processor to make it easier to fill the wrappers. Our goal was to make the wrappers thick enough to not break, but thin enough that we weren’t just eating dough. Overall, this recipe were a great first attempt at making dumplings, and we would make them again with these notes!
