Hi sorry I'm a little out of the loop. Did they cancel ncis hawaii mid season and won't be finishing the season?

Season Three was only going to have ten episodes due to the strikes earlier, but the show was canceled abruptly with the cast and crew finding out the decision the same time we did, online.

CBS claims it’s too expensive to produce, but they picked the location to begin with? If cost would become an issue, why set it there?

Vanessa had just finished doing a week of publicity for the 1000th NCIS episode and now CBS is using her image to promote API inclusion.

Some of the cast moved their families there for the series and now there are 400+ crew out of work.

Meanwhile, NCIS: Origins and NCIS: Tony and Ziva are coming. And SWAT got renewed again despite cancellation.

There’s a social media campaign for NCIS HAWAII being brought back and a petition that has 25,000+ signatures, so we’ll see what happens.

I have various thoughts on the whole thing, but those are the basics…

I'm sad that Willow shared the same fate as Dark Crystal: AoR mostly because my favorite character in both shows ended up truly fucked and we'll never see them avenged or redeemed.

"why should I get invested in shows if they'll just get canceled" I was deeply invested in Heroes (2006) and it was not canceled, it just got really terrible. I also got really invested in the sandwich I had a few weeks ago despite it only lasting like 15 minutes. You must embrace the ephemeral. You must be willing to love things that may not love you back, that might betray you, or that may die an untimely death. As the great philosopher Mr. Mitchell Lee Hedberg said "I'm not gonna stop doing something because of what happens at the end."

Hot take and not to be a killjoy or the shipping police but people treating Viktor or Jinx's aroace headcanons as if they were canon is not the revolutionary take people think it is.

Headcanons are always all right but we have to acknowledge that they are somehow damaging when they apply to stereotypes. It might not be the case for everyone but most of the time people unconsciously assume that disability/mental illness=asexuality. These headcanons erase the freedom of attraction from people who are already seen as unable to have sexual/romantic experiences/desires, when it's completely untrue and harmful.

You can headcanon Viktor and Jinx as aroace, but I have seen people changing their minds once Viktor is no longer disabled (s2 with all of his other forms) and Jinx is no longer as mentally ill (alternate universe Powder). And it speaks wonders of how people see these characters.

"I never thought about Jinx being able to feel romantic/sexual attraction until s2!" To believe she's actually only capable of that when she's not "damaged" is incredibly disturbing. Especially since Jinx has always had a bit of a flirty personality too.

"I've always seen Viktor as asexual, I don't know why!" That's fine. You can headcanon him as ace. But I believe there is a reason behind it, most of the time, if for some inexplicable reason the "vibes" of the disabled character are making you think he's ace.

I say all of this being aroaspec myself, by the way. Headcanon all you want but going to people's posts commenting how "it's weird for you that they have romantic/sexual plots when they're clearly aroace" is not a win at all. It's a headcanon, after all, and it should be treated as such, and that's fine. But it also is damaging to spread stereotypes like these.

Of course the disabled character is asexual. Of course the mentally ill character is aromantic. It's not as revolutionary as you might think, tbh.

Fandom is not activism and it's all right to have any headcanons you want BUT some of them are filled with damaging stuff and perhaps we should look into ourselves more before treating these assumptions as something canon.

so youre telling me. theres an adaptation of orpheus and eurydice. where eurydice was falling out of love with orpheus before her death but didnt know how to tell him, and when he walks into the underworld to get her back, shes forced to confess that she planned to leave him?? and shes the one to ask him to look back, but he doesn’t want to, because he knows she isn’t coming with him??? youre telling me that when he finally looks back, he does lose her, but only because he’s letting go??? you’re telling me its about grief? about drifting apart?? about moving on??? about love, and how its messy, and how sometimes it just doesn’t work out even if you go to hell and back for it, because we’re human and thats our tragedy????
