SHERLOCK X WATSON HEADCANONS...except I know basically nothing about them..er- 💔💔

(Please dont smite me if I got their personalities wrong, im just guessing..SORRY-)

-Sherlock is secretly fairly gullible but not in a naive way, if someone told him "gullible" was written on the wall he'd say something like "Do you take me for a fool!?" then when no one is looking would secretly check-

-Sherlock claims he is too good for affection but will immediately melt if he receives even the slightest attention

-If anyone even slightly touches him he will scoff and pull himself away all while two seconds later he will pull Watson onto his lap or hug his waist all while going "Dont you, DARE touch me, Watson.."

-One time for a mission they had to investigate and needed disguises and Watson designed the costumes and made him be the "dutiful housewife!" sometimes in private they still refer to each other like that

-Watson has cheat days where Sherlock lets him goof around by buying food on the job or taking an extra long break sometimes as their deal

-Watson typically brings him food in the workplace, Sherlock always insists he doesn't need it and that he can buy food himself but he appreciates it and secretly loves it

-Sometimes Sherlock overworks himself so much he passes out and Watson is the one who takes care of him, for example, he carries his passed-out self to his house, feeds him actual food, and acts like he is dying…

-Sometimes Sherlock says something condescendingly obvious like "Well you SEE dear assistant if you look closely, the killer was actually right under our noses!" And Watson just gives him a deadpan look like "Yeah…I know, no shit Sherlock, IM THE GUY WHO TOLD YA THAT-"

-As a silly inside joke sometimes Sherlock calls Watson "Wifey" as a reference to when they acted like a fake married couple for a case undercover

-Even though it's only an inside joke sometimes they take it too far and end up giggling and laughing like gross lovesick high schoolers…

-Sherlock has pretty bad eye bags but Watson secretly finds them attractive and rambles to anyone who will listen about it..frankly no one gives a rats ass about it except him-

-Watson is the equivalent of a high school girl who has read too many sappy novels for their own good

-Watson sometimes zones out and sorta daydreams about about Sherlock and him walking and Sherlock offering his coat like "true gentlemen.." when this does happen much to his dismay he just throws his coat at him and says "Have you gone mad!? Throw on this coat before you meet your demise out here, Watson!"

Listened to the Coules radio adaption of Reigate Squires and was a bit disappointed that they left out the strangling because I was sure Watson would be SO protective. But I was compensated by the way Watson very quietly says "Take care ... my friend" in the end, more to himself than to Holmes. <3

Stop trying to find me a wife! -

Aroace! ACD Sherlock Holmes oneshot

Summary: Holmes angrily makes it clear to Watson that he is Aroace and that Watson should stop trying to find a partner for him. (The word aroace isn't used since it didn't exist back then)

Based on the Prompt:

"So you're just going to trample over their feelings like this?" Doctor Watson snapped at his friend Sherlock Holmes.

"Their feelings? Why is it always other people's feelings? What about my feelings instead?" the detective answered, visibly exasperated.

This took the doctor aback. He wasn't used to such emotional outbursts from his friend. Did Sherlock Holmes of all people just talk about his feelings? He stayed silent since he suspected his friend of having more to say. He was right.

"I am sick and tired of people pushing romance onto me when I have voiced countless times that I have no interest in such matters" Holmes ranted. "Especially you should know by now. Still, you keep nagging me every chance you get. I've tolerated your countless matchmaking attempts. I've told you over and over, very politely if I may point out, to refrain from any further attempts to find a romantic partner for me but you never listened."

Watson felt ashamed and guilty at the words of his best friend. It was true that he had fun teasing the detective about the women swooning over him and that he has gone out of his way once or twice to arrange a date for his friend. He was looking for a wife, so to him, it was the most natural thing that Holmes should also marry one day. Watson had assumed that Holmes had just been too consumed by his work to waste a thought about romance and that the detective just didn't know what was good for him so the doctor had taken matters into his own hands.

Just now, they had come back from a dinner the doctor had arranged with a very nice lady. After seeing through the plan Holmes had turned the woman down, rather rudely for the doctor's taste, and promptly left the restaurant. The Woman was rather hurt and so now back at Baker Street Watson thought it to be his duty to scold his friend for his unacceptable behaviour.

"Yes, I was rude to Miss Bell. Yes, I may have hurt her feelings but she will get over it." Holmes interrupted the thoughts of his best friend. "But I am done with being polite. I am done with being polite to women who will practically throw themselves onto me, not even caring when I tell them I am not interested."

It was true that his fame, earned through Dr Watson's stories, had brought the detective quite a large number of admirers of any gender who sometimes were ... very persistent with their affection.

"And you Watson, instead of having my back, you encourage them. You tell them I just need to be convinced to go out with them. You tell them to keep trying and not lose hope. And when I adopt a harsher tone to turn down the people you gave false hope, or that you even brought to me in the first place, you get mad at me for hurting their feelings." Holmes was getting more and more frustrated

"What about my feelings? Don't you realise that you hurt MY feelings when you ignore my wishes in such a severe manner? I have trusted you when I told you that I have no interest in romance or the intercourse that often comes with it whatsoever. Information that is quite personal and rather frowned upon in our society. And you disregarded this completely and keep trying to push these things onto me nonetheless"

He let himself fall into his armchair defeated. His head in his hands, so that his face was covered, waiting for an answer from the doctor. Although he didn't expect his friend to understand this time.

Dr Watson was still processing what he had just heard. In retrospect, he had been a bad friend in this matter. He now realised that. To him, it was unimaginable that someone could not be interested in romance. But Sherlock Holmes wasn't, he understood that now.

He went over to his friend and put a comforting hand on Holmes's shoulder.

"I am truly sorry, my dear friend, for I have been a very bad friend to you. I should have listened to you. I should have believed you when you told me how you felt about these things. But it was just something so obscure and unimaginable to me that I couldn't accept it to be true. I now feel ashamed of my behaviour. I apologize and I hope you can forgive me. I promise to never try to find you a wife again."

The detective looked up at him with tired eyes

"I also promise to take it seriously in the future when you communicate your feelings on any matter to me. I sometimes forget that you have such things as feelings since you are usually rather private with these." The lips of Holmes curled into a barely visible smile. Still, his eyes looked as tired and defeated as before.

"I am very grateful that you now told me with such severity how you felt about this, although I should have picked up on this before. My dear Holmes, I am very sorry and I hope you can forgive me."

Dr Watson ended his apology speech. Holmes stood up from his armchair and embraced his best friend in a hearty hug.

Since then the life of Mister Sherlock Holmes was free of any kind of unwanted romantic attention. His best friend fiercely shielded him from annoying admirers and kept true to his promise to never nag him about romance again.

🍒 What’s your favorite character dynamic to write? (Can be romantic or platonic, specific or general!) That won't be a surprise, but I love writing Nozel x Vanessa. They have really a cool dynamic and I've read many fanfics already that works so well with them (yours for example). I also like writing Solid x Rosette, for the arranged marriage to lovers trope and it is interesting to write not such a romantic couple. Sometimes, I feel like they have a dynamic like in detective stories, the smart one and the dumb but active one, vaguely like Sherlock and Watson or Poirot and Hastings. With the huge difference that Rosette is so much kinder to Solid than Sherlock and Poirot are mostly towards Watson and Hastings.

🥭 Rank from most enjoyable/fun to write to least: Fluff, Smut, Angst, Crack. Very personal opinion, but 1. Fluff, 2. & 3. Crack and Smut (depending on my mood it changes, so I put both at 2 and 3 😅), 4. Angst.

🍈 Who’s your blorbo and what are some of your favorite headcanons/ideas about them that repeatedly show up in your fics? Free pass to rant about blorbo opinions. I love the Silvas, especially Nozel and Noelle. One of my favorite headcanon is that each of them secretly gave the other gifts on their birthdays and it never stops even when Noelle joins the Black Bulls. In fact, her squad always wonder who sent her anonymous gifts. Another thing I like to point is that Nozel has a soft scent of lavender, be it from a soap or a shampoo. Mostly because I love lavender. Last but not least, Nebra is the fashion expert out of the siblings and always despairs about the fashion decisions of her brothers and little sister. It comes to funny scene, but also touching ones, because Nebra helps Noelle on that topic after they mend their bond.

A while ago I had the idea to write descriptions of Holmeses (detectives) and Watsons (biographers) from across various adaptations, as though you're adopting them from an animal shelter.

Holmeses:

Mr Brett

Mr Brett is very close to Canon and might throw some things around after being separated. With the right companion, though, he’ll thrive! Would prefer a single occupant home with lots of climbing space.

Rathbone

An elegant detective, Rathbone does have a silly side! He loves to play tricks and mess around with rope toys. You will have to watch him while he plays because he will tie himself up more often than not.

Howard

A fun-loving, giggly detective, Howard is a softy and very tactile. You will need at least two capes and deerstalkers available to allow for washing time, as he will insist on wearing one wherever he goes.

RDJ

RDJ is a very messy detective and goes through terrible moods when he’s on his own. He’s a sweetheart and very heroic, but he will probably follow you into places you don’t want him to be! Buy some locks.

Benedict

Benedict is a solitary creature, and has trouble making friends. He can be rude and off-putting but he is fiercely protective of the few people he likes. Might be willing to kill for you - try not to let him.

Herlock Sholmes

Herlock Sholmes is very outgoing and enthusiastic! He is constantly seeking companionship and may end up adopting you instead. Will need lots of space for flailing and dancing.

Merrison

A very talkative detective, Merrison can appear petulant at times - and he is! Once he knows you well enough he’ll become extremely devoted to you, even if he doesn’t show it very often.

Canon

Canon is our most senior detective! He’s been adopted many times but unfortunately keeps returning to us. He may seem cold and aloof, but he's really very friendly and loves to curl up in a comfy chair!

22nd Century (22C)

Something of a fish out of water, 22C will appreciate a home with lots of familiar elements he can use to ground himself. Suitable for someone with a regular routine and a space that he can claim as a retreat when he feels lost.

Jonny Lee

Jonny Lee is a lap detective, but only once he is comfortable. You will need to let him come to you for affection, as he won’t accept it when offered. Get used to him bringing you “gifts”, even unpleasant ones; it means he likes you!

Basil

Our smallest detective is nevertheless a big character! Animated and very quick, Basil would suit a small home as he doesn’t need a lot of space. Give him a few cheese crumpets and he’ll become your best friend.

господин Livanov will come and go as he pleases, but likes to be warm and cosy when he’s at home. He also loves to tease, and enjoys the occasional round of boxing! He would prefer a companion who can speak Russian.

Watsons

Burke & Hardwicke

Our bonded pair of biographers, Burke and Hardwicke are both sweethearts. You’ll rarely find one without the other. Both are very loyal and have a mischievous side. Don’t wake them up too early!

Bruce

Bruce is perhaps not our smartest biographer, but he has a wicked sense of humour and is a friend to all. While occasionally clumsy and gruff, he will charge into danger to save you without a second thought.

Crawford

Crawford rather enjoys getting into scrapes - though he’d never admit it! He tries to be the responsible one but never really puts his foot down. Make sure to have plenty of arnica on hand for his next black eye.

Jude

One of our most independent biographers, Jude is still very loyal and willing to take up arms when asked, even if he seems a bit reluctant. Has a powerful side-eye and a bit of a gambling streak.

Martin

Martin has a temper, especially when patronised or underestimated. Needs an experienced companion who can keep him occupied and challenge him. Make sure he feels appreciated or he may wander off.

Iris Wilson

Iris is our youngest biographer and extremely intelligent for her age. She is still a child though, and can be a bit selfish and emotional. You will need to be encouraging and help her learn from her mistakes.

Williams

Williams is a biographer seeking balance in his life. He is loving and fiercely loyal to Merrison, but he also has a strong independent streak. Usually a very affable character, but if he gets angry, you will know about it!

Old Unreliable

Another of our seniors, this biographer can sometimes get confused about dates and the order of events. Just be patient with him and let him write in his own way. You’ll see how much of a conductor of light he can be!

Robotson

Robotson didn’t have the best start in life - his previous owners didn’t realise he was a biographer! Thankfully he’s recovered and is now ready to make a home with a new companion. Will need someone dedicated to his routine maintenance.

Lucy

Our only other female biographer, Lucy is very intelligent and has a wide range of skills, including hand to hand combat. She is also bilingual! She makes an ideal companion, but watch out for signs of distress e.g. dyeing her hair blonde.

David Q. Dawson

This decorated and distinguished pocket-sized biographer would be perfect for a smaller home. David is very polite and will do whatever you ask of him, but he doesn’t respond well to being shouted at. Cat-free household preferred.

Though quite taciturn, господин Solomin is a sweetheart and quick to forgive. He’s very curious - try dropping hints about what you do for a living, and see if he guesses correctly! Provide lots of paper for his notes and doodles.

Victorian Edition, Part 2: Five Recs + 2

I promised a second part of this edition of RRR, and it looks like Part 2 won't be the last. I've read so many fantastic ACD fics that I'd like to share:

The Beginning of Always / @mydogwatson : John Watson wants to be a doctor. Sherlock Holmes wants to be a consulting detective. Most of all, they both want to be loved. Author note: The idea of using Joseph Bell [the inspiration, in part, for ACD in creating Holmes] came to me from @thegildedbee and I was excited to run with it. 

My note: If you're looking for well-written, fully imagined ACD stories, you could go to no better author than @mydogwatson. Mostly short stories, lots of Christmas ones.

Bad Dog by RatTale: During a hard case Holmes and Watson part ways after an argument, and now Holmes suddenly has more to worry about than missing children.

My note: RatTale has written a number of stories, all of them loved by me. This one was taken down for a while, but has recently been restored.

A Pertinacious Idea by @victorianpining : "I am compelled to admit that, having taken my pen in my hand, I do begin to realize that the matter must be presented in such a way as may interest the reader."

Summary: One wintry evening, Dr. Watson returns home to find that Holmes has rekindled their most longstanding disagreement by creating his own rendition of one of Watson's narratives. Braced for criticism, in reading Holmes' story Watson instead finds the one thing he had long believed Holmes to be incapable of giving.

My note: Go read this! Beautifully written.

Heaven and Earth by @a-candle-for-sherlock : At first, the wonder of his resurrection had blazed so bright that I saw nothing else. Joy, joy impossible had been returned to me; death itself had been undone. But as the miracle faded into everyday light I began to see that time had not been likewise reversed; time had done its implacable work. He was not the same as he had been. 

My note: tender, beautiful. I've reread this one a thousand times.

Rewriting History by rachelindeed ( @educatedinyellow): A correspondence between Holmes and Watson in the immediate aftermath of the Great War in which they discuss questions of history both public and personal.

My note: another one I've reread over and over. Developing relationship, Thucydides. That says it all.

Plus two of my own:

The Silence Between Us by @calaisreno : Watson is a proper Victorian man, a stranger to himself, unwittingly complicit in his own unhappiness. On a journey to London to see Holmes after ten years of silence, he tries to understand their broken friendship and his own grief.

My note: This might be my single favorite ACD story I've authored. This unhappy, conflicted Watson finally breaking down and realising he loves Holmes is one I cherish.

Bodyguard by @calaisreno : Captain John Watson, wounded in Afghanistan, is looking for employment. Sherlock Holmes is looking for something else. Fortunately, they can solve one another's problems.

My note: One of my oldest stories on AO3, this one doesn't get read much, but it's funny! A casefic, with an enthusiastically involved Watson (in drag for one scene) and an indulgent Holmes.
