I've had two shelties in my life and both were/are obsessed with herding. No human you HAVE to stay on that side of the yard!! No further!!!

The older (now deceased) one also would not eat until he first took a single ball of kibble from the bowl, then ate it in another room. Sometimes he'd do the first two bites of kibble this way. Only then would he dig in. One night, when we had an unfamiliar guest over, he ate his entire meal like that, just taking one bite and going into the other room to eat it, over and over.

fun thing about herding and/or generally neurotic breeds: they are really good at following rules you have instituted, but they will also make their own Dog Rules they will follow stringently whether or not you like it
