JAZZ DESERVES MORE TIME IN THE SPOTLIGHT 10000%
jazz fenton has to be the best older sibling figures in fiction I think.
they could have easily gone the route of jazz not liking danny, or picking on him, etc etc. but it's like very central to her character that she really does care about her little brother. like to a point that it almost hurts her sometimes. I think her trauma with their parents should be explored way more often, and I think it also gives a very good excuse for Danny to be in Gotham in the first place?
from what little I have tried to read of Danny phantom and Batman crossovers they have him be like colleged aged sometimes? which is cool and those aren't bad, but I do want to see an au where Danny and Jazz move to Gotham together and he's like about to leave highschool or about to be a senior. (though this is honestly because I prefer not to have a romance when I read and I do see quite a few that ship Danny with characters like Tim or Jason. whereas I look at their dynamic and I'm like jazz and Danny would fit into this family so well) I do think the older sibling who hates their parents and believes them to be a danger to their child would take custody of said kid and move to a different place as soon as they could. I think jazz would be that older sibling who figured it out and makes it work...
that being said I haven't seen Danny phantom in a really long time and I only recently rewatched like the first season ish. I do recall there being something about him being tied to Amity Park but I can't remember if that's canon or if that was a fanon thing. I just think it would be an interesting concept of having jazz go to school in Gotham and have a job on the side to try and put Danny through school too, and like Gotham has really cheap rent so it's like the best place she could find. I think jazz would have decorated Danny's room and been very excited to have her own apartment, I bet she goes to all of his school stuff, I bet she makes it a point to make sure Sam and Tucker still get to come see him all the time, etc etc. and i think it would be pretty cool if someone explored Jazz as a character more often. cause i can imagine she starts expending and exhausting herself trying to keep up with everything basically as a single parent and i can only imagine the relief she'd feel when the Waynes step in. maybe they figure out Danny's identity because he continued being a vigilante or something of that nature? and they offer jazz to take care of her school expenses and stuff like that even if they don't want to live with the Waynes or whatever. a scene where Bruce really connects with Jazz and tells her she's been doing great this whole time and she should be proud of herself, but he has the resources to help both her and Danny so they don't have to worry about rent or food ever again. and Jazz just kind of breaks down because she's been independent for a long time and she hasn't experienced an adult in her life taking notice of that and wanting to help her
and obviously this would extend to Danny in many ways, because he's also there, but this post isn't about him it's about my girl Jazz. mostly just a ramble cause i woke up sick

Part 12
Arriving at the convention was an experience all its own.
From the moment they neared the location, an exciting and electrifying energy filled the air. The convention was held in a large and beautiful hotel and convention hall facility, like the one where she worked. Upon seeing the building, Y/N waited for the flurry of bad memories, but instead, she found herself wistful about the job she once had and hopeful she might work something like it again. She had a knack for hotel management and really enjoyed it.
Since Jensen and Jared were being dropped at the front, doing fan service upon their arrival, Jensen arranged for security personnel to escort her through the back. She agreed, not ready to interact with strangers about her Alpha or her life with him. She also didn't want to interfere or ruin the convention energy, knowing how protective he could be and how important the conventions were to them.
Instead, she was escorted to her and Jensen's hotel suite. She busied herself with putting things away and setting up the room for their stay. While she wasn't attending any festivities from a fan's perspective, she could observe unseen from behind the scenes and still get the whole gamut of events and her Alpha in his element.
When Jensen entered the room, he couldn't help but grin. Y/N was swaying her hips to low-pitched music and humming, and her happy scent filled the room as she looked over her work.
"Someone's happy," Jensen teased, wrapping his arms around her and kissing her neck.
His scent enveloped her before his arms did, and she melted with a happy sigh into him.
"Ready for dinner?"
She turned in his arms and smiled nervously, "The Supernatural dinner with all the famous and sexy actors?" she teased.
Jensen chuckled, "We sometimes all get together for dinner on the first night. There are other significant others and mates, even some kids," he shrugged.
"Yeah, but you all know each other already."
"Some of them you met on set," he reassured, rubbing his hands up and down her arms to calm her nerves. Her stomach grumbled, and he laughed, kissing her hand before leading her to meet up for dinner. "We're like one big family. You'll love it, I promise."
Dinner was held in a private room in the back of an upscale hotel restaurant. She'd never dined somewhere so lovely and was more than surprised to see long tables and family-style service. It was loud, lively, and fun. He was right; it didn't take long for her to feel welcomed and at home. By the time dinner was over and they were saying their goodnights, she'd felt like one of the family.
As the weekend continued, her nervousness faded. The cast, the fans, the energy—everything had her head spinning in a good way. She was almost sad she had never attended a convention before. The energy was different when the convention was held at her former hotel. Providing the best service and keeping everything running smoothly felt more urgent. Now, she got to be someone who just enjoyed it, though she missed that former life the longer they were here.
She often found herself glancing at employees or studying maps and hallways, trying to guess who did what and what led where based on her former knowledge. It was a little game she played with herself, almost pretending she could still work and live that life. Regardless, she didn't let it detract from the truly memorable events around her.
Seeing the photo ops was interesting for her. People waited in long lines just to have several seconds with the guys. She laughed over the poses and props that fans brought, and her heart was warmed at some of the more emotional meetings. The panels and more intimate meets were just as fascinating as she learned more about the show, the fandom, and Jared and Jensen. These guys were more than just actors or pretty faces. To some, they were lifelines or connections to something bigger than themselves.
She understood that completely because she felt the same.
-
Jensen felt like he was on top of the world. In fact, he felt damn spoiled. He always enjoyed the conventions, mingling with fans, messing around with Jared and Misha and the others. It was always memorable, and he was excited to share it with Y/N. She took in everything with wide, sparkling eyes and a soft smile, her scent positive and light.
He had ulterior motives for Y/N outside of just enjoying the convention. He wanted the weekend to double as a date. They'd mated and dealt with much that came with it. But they hadn't taken any time to date and get to know each other, so he figured the convention weekend would be a good opportunity. And he hadn't been disappointed.
At Friday's dinner with the cast, she was initially shy. However, Jared and Gen easily introduced her to conversations and encouraged her to open up and talk more. Halfway through dinner, after having a few drinks, she was openly chatting with those around her, chiming in on conversations, and acting as though she belonged there. Jensen knew she did; she just needed the push. It was important to him that she realized she had friends and a whole network to lean on.
Someone mentioned how great the hotel was in accommodating them and the convention. That's when Y/N mentioned she worked in a similar hotel and how frenzied it was on the host and customer service side. The table listened in as she talked about the other side of things, the work, and the details involved in making everything go smoothly. Jensen was impressed, watching as she captivated the table and spoke confidently on a topic she truly understood and enjoyed. He finally felt like he was seeing the person she was, and he was falling all over again.
Saturday, he spent his time between convention events and sneaking little moments with Y/N. They would chat, snack, and enjoy each other's company, and he learned things about her that he didn't know before. She was quirky and a dork, which was great 'cause so was he. She was kind and well-spoken and managed to charm everyone around her even when she wasn't trying.
He also noticed her taking in details of the hotel and drifting off. He thought back to when they met—and her speech at dinner—and suddenly felt overwhelming guilt that she had lost everything because of him because she was his True Mate. He knew he'd talk about it with her later in the privacy of their suite.
Just the thought of being alone with her had him on edge and yearning. His rut had been gradually surfacing over the weekend. Though it had become more manageable since mating, he still wasn't quite back to a standard, predictable cycle. Neither was Y/N after the suppressants, but they were healing and getting to that point. He was confident that he could control his rut and not have feral issues like before.
Jensen was eager to have her to himself when they crashed into their hotel room late Saturday night. He was dragging - nearly carrying - her along with him while she giggled, the two of them far too drunk after the night's festivities.
Y/N had a lot of fun at the concert, letting herself go and openly swooning and practically catcalling Jensen while he performed. She might have been embarrassed, except she wasn't the only one doing such a thing. And she might have bristled at all the others giving her Alpha all that attention, but she was too focused on said man to really care about anything else.
They crashed and tumbled through the door, laughing and shushing each other at the late hour. They fell to the bed in tangled limbs, mouths fused in sloppy kisses. But a quick breath turned into both of them promptly passing out, still fully clothed, shoes on and feet hanging off the bed.
When Jensen woke the following day, his cell phone rang and buzzed like mad in his pocket, and a banging sounded in the distance. He wasn't sure if someone was actually banging or if his head was just throbbing from the hangover. Y/N was still out beside him, mouth wide and drooling, hair a mess. He smirked, brushing the mess of locks from her face and kissing her cheek. Groaning, he sat up on the edge of the bed, rubbing the sleep from his eyes and lamenting the mild hangover.
It became apparent that the banging was actually knocking on the room door. He forced himself up and answered the door to find Jared upbeat and chipper. It grated his nerves, but when Jared hung up his phone and passed Jensen a fresh, strong coffee, all was forgiven.
"I'll be back in twenty," Jared smirked. "Get cleaned up, or we'll be late."
Jensen grumbled and nodded as he shut the door and got ready for the last day of the convention. He was bitter that he didn't get to have Y/N last night, and now, he wouldn't get to have her in the morning, either. There was always work to do. Taking a quick shower, he dressed and jotted a quick note to leave for Y/N. She didn't even stir as he kissed her cheek, only began to snore. Jensen laughed and calmed himself, knowing she was here, and after the contractual requirements, he could come back and satiate their needs without interruption.
-
By midday, Y/N stirred awake. She immediately recognized a hangover, clutching at her head with a groan. Her mouth was dry, and she felt rather gross. But then the memories of the night before flitted back to her mind, and she grinned. She had let loose, feeling comfortable enough to do so, and Jensen, too, relaxed. Together, they had a really fun night—almost like two people without a care in the world.
Forcing herself from the bed to the bathroom, she relieved herself and splashed water on her face. Going back to the suite, she noticed Jensen was gone. She grabbed her phone and realized the time before spotting the note left by Jensen. She giggled; she couldn't help it, loving how adorable and thoughtful he could be.
However, she was disappointed in herself for passing out when they returned and not waking before he left. She knew he was in a rut and would need her, but more than that, she had really wanted him, completely turned on after their exciting evening. She checked in with Jensen and apologized. He told her not to worry, to relax, to order room service, and to have a day in if she wanted, and she really did want that.
Jensen's enticing Alpha scent, more potent from his rut, reached her senses before she heard his key card in the door. She hadn't realized the time, but her body moved before she could even tell it to do so, meeting Jensen at the entrance as he closed the door behind him. She practically pounced on him, and he grinned, pressing her back into the door. He kissed along her neck and claim, taking deep lungfuls of her scent.
One hand squeezed her hip, and the other clutched her hair, tilting her head for him. He moaned as she ran her fingers through his hair, allowing him to scent her. Pulling back, he looked into her eyes, finding her pupils dilated, and her scent bloomed.
"This is just like our first time," Y/N smirked sultrily, not a hint of anger.
"I'm so sorry, 'Mega. Y/N," he whined, caressing her cheek and kissing her again. "That was never how I wanted it to go. I never wanted to hurt you or force you. My rut-"
"I know," she responded, placing a finger over his lips to stop his rambling. "So show me."
"What?"
"Show me, Alpha. Show me how that first time should have gone."
"A little roleplay, Omega?" Jensen smirked, pressing himself against her, letting her feel how much he needed her.
"Yes, Alpha. Please?"
Jensen captured her mouth with a groan, knowing he couldn't deny her anything when she begged him like that. He barely remembered that first time through the haze of his near-feral rut. She mainly had disassociated during the act, and the suppressants and blockers kept her from feeling and knowing their bond. Now, it was different. She was clear of any substance, and Jensen was in control of his rut, even if the cycle was still off. He picked her up, grinning when her legs wrapped around him.
He carried her toward the large bed in the room, their eyes locked. Stopping at the end, he playfully tossed her onto the mattress. She landed and bounced with a surprised squeal, followed by a giggle. Jensen tried not to laugh and stay 'in character,' hoping he could almost rewrite their first time in their minds.
"So strong," she purred as he climbed over her with a hungry gaze. "I can't believe Jensen Ackles is my Alpha," she swooned.
He couldn't stop laughing, then nipped at her collarbone, "Brat," he muttered. Rising, he gazed down at her in awe. "I've been waiting so long for you."
She wanted to kiss him passionately. Instead, he swiftly moved down her body, divesting her of her pants and underwear before she even realized what he was up to. All the best of his Alpha was on display for her. It made her heart flutter and her pussy throb. He stood at the end of the bed, taking off his clothes as he licked his lips and trailed his eyes over her body.
"Take that off," he growled, nodding towards her top as he stripped down to just his boxers.
She was quick to comply, and the second she was naked, he dove straight into her pussy, eating her out like a man starved, moaning at the flavor on his tongue. He continued until she was writhing, on edge, and begging him for more. He stopped just before she came, wanting to tease and draw it out. She gasped and whined as he kissed and bit his way up her body, making her moan and hiss and squirm.
He paused to give special attention to her breasts, teasing, sucking, and licking until she nearly came from that alone. But as before, he stopped just shy of pushing her over that edge, making her whine in protest. He chuckled as he kissed his way to her neck, licking over her claim and rutting against her.
"Taste and smell so damn good," he groaned into her neck. "Wanna make you mine, Omega," he breathed, staring down at her and trying to maintain the roleplay, even though they were both too far gone to keep up the pretense. "Wanna knot and claim you."
"Alpha!" she moaned, rutting back against him and delighting in the teasing bite he gave to her neck. "Yes, Alpha! Please."
In the back of her mind, she knew this wasn't even close to how she reacted their first time. However, with everything out of her system, the connection was undeniable. Claimed as they were, dual-bound to one another, everything felt lit up in neon between them.
Jensen angled his hips and slid within her, harshly and without warning, her slick more than enough to ease his way. While Y/N moaned like a pornstar, he felt like he might cry, the feel of her and their connection nearly overwhelming.
"Feel fucking incredible," Jensen moaned as he moved, his thrusts harsh and deep.
His rut drove him to be less gentle, but he already knew she could take it all and more. It didn't take long for her to come undone around him after all the build-up. Before she even came down, he withdrew and flipped her over. He lifted her hips and pressed her shoulders down into the mattress, thrusting inside and starting a rough and brutal pace.
Y/N had abandoned all thoughts about roleplay, submitting entirely to her Alpha and the harsh but delicious way he was claiming her whole body. She knew she was moaning and shouting, screaming for her Alpha, and she couldn't care at all. The headboard cracked loudly against the wall, and Jensen was sure there'd be complaints, but he, too, didn't care one fucking bit.
She came again, her body tensing, before she gushed over his cock. "Fuck, always so good for me," he purred as he lay over her and hitched one leg up to open her further to him.
He slowed his pace, focusing on feeling how deep inside her he was. His knot was ready to pop, but he wanted to feel her come for him again. He found her clit, rubbing tight small circles over it as he continued his pace, kissing along her shoulders and neck as he encouraged her toward her last climax. As soon as she did, his knot popped, locking them together. He bit into his claim, renewing the mark. As her blood hit his tongue, he continued rutting his hips into her, riding out their highs.
Jensen carefully shifted them to their sides and spooned Y/N while they waited for his knot to go down. He focused on her claim, licking it clean and ensuring it was sealed and healed as before.
"That was amazing," she turned her head to smile at him.
"I'm sorry it wasn't like that in the beginning."
"Don't," Y/N said, shaking her head. "You have to know I forgive you for everything. We wouldn't be who or where we are if anything were different. I love you completely with all of me."
Jensen knew it was the truth. He could feel it, knew it deep in his soul, and cherished every moment. "I love you, too. So much," he spoke, kissing her.
As she settled to sleep, Jensen pondered over the old fairytales and his parents' stories about True Mates. He was regaled by tales of the everlasting, soul-deep bonds and the romanticism of it all. But now, he finally understood for himself what it all meant and how it felt. He would do anything for Y/N. He was trying to change the world for her and loved her with every fiber of his being.
As he snuggled into her to sleep, he decided that fairytales were nothing compared to the real thing.

What do you think of Bellatrix? Would you have liked to explore more dynamics about her?
I *love* unpacking sibling dynamics and toxic relationships, so of course I find Bellatrix fascinating. (Also "Bellatrix Lestrange" might be my favorite name in a series full of very good names. 10/10.)
To me, what's key about Bellatrix is that she's the oldest of the three Black sisters. She could have been written as the indulged, attention-seeking bratty baby... but that would be a less interesting character.
Growing up, I think Narcissa was probably the quiet, passive child. That's her strategy when Voldemort shows up and she's once again living with a powerful, unstable authority figure. (I mean we have no info about what Cygnus Black was like, but he's Walburga Black's younger brother, and I imagine they probably enforced each other's extremism and intensity after their brother got blasted off the tapestry.) Narcissa's strategy is fade to the background, don't react, don't let them see what you're thinking, let them ignore you.
(I also think it's very believable that she went subtly went low contact with the Blacks after she married Lucius. The Malfoys have *always* been much more squeamish about violence, and much more politically moderate. I think Narcissa likes that.)
Andromeda you can take in a couple of different directions, but she was probably the problem child/scapegoat. And if she wasn't before she married Ted, she DEFINITELY was after. She also looks so much like Bellatrix that Harry does a double take, which I think... would have really bugged Bellatrix growing up, and informed their dynamic. Bellatrix sees herself as SO exceptional that she wouldn't want to be compared to anyone... but if she were, then it would be important that any casual comparisons come out in HER favor. (Which can't have been fun for Andromeda.) It's interesting that Voldemort underlines the connection between the two sisters as a way to get under Bellatrix's skin, and it works *really* well. She's got a competitive streak.
Because Bellatrix would have 100% grown up the *Golden Child.* Powerful, driven, beautiful in a striking way. The Daddy's Girl energy is off the charts (and she was probably Aunt Walburga's favorite too.) Bellatrix is described as acting like a queen, which is exactly how she sees herself. She grew up in an echo chamber not only telling her that people like her were special and better... but that she was the most Special one within the Special group.
So she meets Lord Voldemort. He's beautiful, driven, brilliant, power levels off the charts. He's Grindelwald born again (but straight) (probably.) He's not just the Dark Lord, he's a King. He wants to rule the world as an immortal god-king. He tells Bellatrix that this is going to happen, and she believes him.
And like - of course she's into that. But also, seeing yourself as a temporarily embarrassed Immortal Goddess Empress requires such a specific self-concept. You are going to need a delusionally high opinion of yourself... but also enough talent/power/beauty/external validation to carry that idea into adulthood.
(also Rodolphus... he doesn't count. Good Marriage was just another box to check as a young woman so Bellatrix could remain Perfect. The rules are different if you're a Immortal Goddess Empress anyway. Any consort she had would be so far below her own power level, or the power level of her King, that he literally would not matter. But she's not going to have a *kid* with Rodolphus. She's Voldemort's favorite, Rodolphus is not good enough. You sire PRINCES with the KING.)
Voldemort of course would know all this. And we see him have so much fun finding ways to creatively torture Lucius. He's a sadist in general sure, but there's something specifically about bringing pureblood royalty low that he gets REALLY into. He *likes* bringing up the werewolf nephew-in-law and and watching Bellatrix scramble desperately for ground, crying, while the rest of the Death Eaters point and laugh. Until he tells them to cut it out, because he's the only one with enough power to do that.
And then Bellatrix goes back to her room and probably constructs a whole narrative about how that was actually Voldemort protecting her, because she's the most Special, and it's all in good fun really. Because the alternative is having to admit that she's not extraordinary, she's just a punching bag (like Lucius Malfoy.) This is where a lot of her anger and instability come from. Every time she's in a situation where someone else is doing something *more* or *better* ... she lashes out.
In the main timeline of the books this mainly shows up in her dynamic with Narcissa. Bellatrix tries to give orders in Malfoy Manor (I am sure it really annoys her that Voldemort is using her sisters house as his HQ. That isn't how it's supposed to go.) Narcissa is sacrificing Draco for the Dark Lord? Well, Bellatrix would have five sons (hypothetically) and sacrifice them all (happily.) She tries to shift the blame for Department of Mysteries thing 100% onto Lucius, and gets really defensive when Snape implies that he has more emotional intimacy with Voldemort than she does.
But she's still really, really useful, and Voldemort knows this. She is talented, and powerful, and his best enforcer. So he would have so much fun dangling that carrot just out of reach, forever. The prophecy makes such a big deal about Voldemort marking Harry "as his equal," because that's just not a thing he does. BELLATRIX certainly isn't his equal.
(dumbledore though... we can maybe revisit.)

Thoughts on Watari Nishino's student spotlight
Warning: there will be discussions of misogyny here & mentions of abuse.
i am so satisfied that Watari Nishino has finally got her student interview. it's so satisfying that her character is allowed to be shown outside of being in The Supportive role or Comedic relief. i also have an opportunity to share some of my thoughts that i left out of my previous ramble post about her, and to reaffirm some of my thoughts I've expressed already!
i will try to organize my thoughts, you know like how those really good tumblr fanganronpa analyzers do? organize with titles, screenshots and all that? this post will still be sloppy though... i'm not fancy with words. And this is (mostly) not an analysis post... I am just very passionate about Watari.
before all, i want to touch on the vocal performance of the VA. the amounts of energy and character that was oozed out... I was stunned!!! and the voice becoming low and breaking at some points was so heartbreaking to hear; the performance expressed her "strength" that was constantly on the verge of breaking down during this interview. the voice having edge to it at some points—the underlying resentment and longing was so overbearing.
Watari's opinion on marriage
Honestly, there's so much stuff going on. I could screenshot everything about what the hell she was yapping about but that's a lot of work.
one of the first thoughts about marriage is how she wants to be the wife of Hayashi, to serve her and care for her! its funny and sweet. but then she remembers about the social dynamics she has put up with all her life, how she has always been a victim of them and witness of them... yikes. its fucked up she she likes the idea to serve people she care or love about as a way to express love, but to some extent, it's a reminder of common dynamics in marriage between men and women that are "expected" as they are an extension of oppressive social dynamics.
it's pretty sad how her perception of marriage and being a wife is so tainted by the previously prominent one in her life. like it is the common occurrence for patriarchal roles to be ingrained in marriages, and it's likely her parent's marriage reflected that toxic normalcy. there is so much disdain and resentment through comments on the "role" as a husband and "role" as a wife as a trauma response.
particularly, she largely associates being a wife with physically and mentally serving the husband and in the process to carry more burden, while the husband is allowed to be more independent outside of serving for someone and be acknowledged as human as he is more allowed to express his emotion (ex: through complaints). despite the disdain about the oppressive position the general husband holds over his wife, she finds some comfort in the role as the husband is allowed to express his humanity and have some independence. this is disdain is personal; its not only just rooted from her oppression in society as a girl, but also the marriage she witnessed.
I think there could also be the possibility that she sees herself as a "Wife". Not even just because of the expectations tied to her gender, but because of the current she has in the family, as the "wife" who must serve the family. Although there is some differences between the wife and her role in the family, the sentiment is that she is expected to serve at the expense of her humanity. Which adds more layers to the commentary on the marriage and her tendencies to put herself in leader positions where she's able to have fun with it (despite doing that having some complications).
Also very specifically this line gave me a mental pause.
What the hell? Suspicious... as i interpret there being an underlying personal tone (not just regarding to her position in society as a girl, but also towards the previous marriage) to the way she speaks about husbands, this... makes me very concerned! concerned! the nature of her previous parent's marriage has always gave me curiosity and concern. and this points to it being more personal as monomoko says it feels they have "strayed away" from the intentions of the question. yeah this is definitely personal.
i've always wondered whether or not the marriage was mutually toxic or abusive. and if there was abuse, i wonder about the extent of the abuse the children faced and/or if they were mostly stuck as the role of the witness of a parent's abuse. i've wondered if they were emotionally neglected while being a witness to physical, verbal and/or other kinds of abuse. now this gives me more questions. was alcoholism involved??? her father was an alcoholic possibly... and i wonder how it affected everyone in the family. good grief so much layers to this!!
and what gets me is that she does reach out to her father sometimes... despite all...? having mommy and daddy issues at once is dangerous.
to give a wonderful, but relatable, end to the topic of marriage... she says this.
this was yet another interesting thing she said regarding to marriage considering her lack of genuine attraction to men. though this is a funny remark she says loosely, this really gives more layers to the way she treats her "attraction" towards men. it's very interesting that particularly speaks about her "attraction" in this context of speaking about marriage and the common roles in them which stem from misogyny, while in earlier videos where she expresses this "attraction" is typically in the context of men serving for her. she plays with a "romantic attraction" about men as a way to reclaim the oppressive position men and oppressive societal expectations which hold over her.
through this play she plays with expectations attached to her gender—the expectation that girls & women must be romantically attracted to men and it must lead to the "inherent" desire to serve them, and that women must be committed and follow "rules" regarding to their attraction. since this immediate perception of how "all girls and women" experience, express or act on their expression has roots in misogyny. when she plays with a "romantic attraction" or "romantic interest" towards men, she gets to decide how and when she wants to be served or be leader whenever she wants to without commitment to those "feelings" that she cannot genuinely feel.
this disillusion with society's expectations and "rules" regarding to girls' and women's romantic interests encourages her to be very loud when expressing her genuine romantic and sexual attraction towards hayashi—though at the expense of hayashi's thoughts on that—as this expression actively breaks the expectation that she must express her desires quietly and how her attraction towards women is supposedly "false" or "less serious". thus, she gets to have a sense of control on those expectations forced onto her.
Watari's family
there was a thought i had about her role in the family, which i left out of my previous post about her as i didn't know where to put it. thanks to the interview, i have an opportunity to share this. i had the thought that her "leadership" role in the family was influenced by misogynistic standards in society. pushing girls into the adult caretaker role plus the lack of concern towards the emotional weight girls & women get from being forced into those positions are expressions of misogyny, which led me to that idea.
this idea i've had has definitely been hinted now shown by how she says her mother never had expectations for her older brother yet had them for her despite previously being the youngest in the family. which is likely the case due to misogyny her mother has internalized. not to be "overzealous" about the this misogyny talk, but there's a chance her brother holds these misogynistic beliefs as well.
and the way that watari is so particularly attentive to raising her sister because she knows that her sister will be pushed to become the next "sibling mom" due to this misogyny being ingrained in the family (not just shown by why she has the "leadership" role but also [likely] the previous marriage) despite the older brother still being around... just gave me a heartache. the kinship between the sisters due to their girlhood... ughhh my god its so bittersweet. there's an extra layer to this i feel. her feeling so obliged to break the cycle through parenting her sister is so reminiscent of how she broke the marriage. back then she tried to break the cycle of the pain that was so ingrained in the marriage; and she did! and now she feels obliged to break another cycle.
The curious case of Watari's mother
Later on in the interview, Watari comments about having a lot of siblings. She has get grievances about this as she knows she will have to step up to take care of them. This comment and grief reminds me of this earlier comment she made:
I wonder if this commentary on being a wife also refers to her mother—I mean this bit on what "it means" to be a husband and wife is very personal for her enough, especially when it comes how she speaks about The Husband role.
There are questions about my idea which is just a very loose theory. I'm unsure about the timeline stuff. But two or three children can already be close to "too much" depending on the culture, then expecting yet another third or fourth child can be considered definitely "too much". so regardless of how many children existed during the marriage and divorce, this could still refer to her mother when she was a wife.
If this is talking about her mother, this gives some interesting context to her. Although she most definitely do not "clean stuff all day" in present times as told about her constant neglectful character, perhaps she did back then. And so when she's divorced... she just.... don't clean anymore? I wonder if her mother is depressed and/or have negative feelings about parenthood as a result of the divorce, which could motivate her to be neglectful in various of ways. and these feelings doesnt have to just be a result of the divorce—they could already be lingering during the marriage, but increased because there's suddenly "no reason" to disregard them for the sake of holding a marriage that isn't there anymore.
this interests me as in Watari's text file, she attempts to reassure her siblings that her mother still loves the family. i would say its not not even just for the sake of comforting her siblings but also for the sake of her comfort, especially as Watari do genuinely hold some love towards her mother. I feel there's a possibility that her mother has shown genuine care and investment to the family before (like through cleaning as that act can be revealing of some care), at least during the marriage, and so she believes her mother has the potential to still be loving and caring to the family.
additional thoughts
the disillusion with societal standards and expectations towards women & girls as they're an extension of systematic misogyny is so heavily tied to watari's character that it hurts! hurts in the "i understand" way as a girl (kind of) myself. her character is so important. her character hits home as unfortunately in black communities, adultification of black girls is an unfortunate common occurrence. though unsure if the creator took consideration of this, or of misogynoir in general, in watari's story & character.
this really ties nicely to the topic of reclamation being connected to her character, which I've now realized is apart of her character even more than I thought. this interview was *really* great to me. It introduced more questions, introduced more ideas to her character, and more context. This interview felt longer than some other student interviews, which is delicious to me as someone who desperately wishes for more Watari-focused content.
This interview support my claims about her taking on "leadership" role as headmaster as a way to reclaim the leadership roles she has in her life, particularly her role in her family. its fucked that the one time she gets to have fun with being a leader... it's soured. it's fucked that the cases she's tried to be selfish by tending to her comfort and fun, some shit happens. its fucked.
"i don't want to be sad all the time"... "i just want to be a normal child for once!" and many more lines are just so revealing of her constant state of grief. Her longing. Resentment. She is so tragic to me. Sigh. I hope that soon, she will be comforted and the one who is reached out to. I hope her grief will be acknowledged by others more.
This was a lot of typing and editing, and im sure ill have to edit later. Maybe i could expand on some things, but i wanted this to specifically be about Watari Nishino, her character, and her background. Not just her character relating to other characters. Byebye :) this took hours and I need to sleep. i hope things were worded nicely and tastefully. i also tried not to be repetitive.

Hey! I made my ‘official’ Yuu for this blog! She’s based on my previous idea of “oh - what if there was a Yuu who deluded themselves that they were in a ‘Truman Show’ situation? Here’s some character design, sheets, and concept ideas that I’ll be using to make comics soon. Ciao
“Yuu” - Aka, she was asked her name at the Mirror and asked “What the hell are you?”. The Dark Mirror only heard the last bit, and this the alias “Yuu” was born.
Goes through chapters 1-6 convinced she is stuck within a “Truman Show” situation, or a comatose. Due to her past health issues and state of her Earth - she wouldn’t be surprised of either.
Very intelligent when it doesn’t come to this belief. Her ability to observe others, create plans, and learn new topics (adapt) is concerning. Yet when it comes to convincing herself that this is all real - she loses sense of logic in favor of the simpler answer. It is easier to believe in an arranged cult than dimension travel. When she explores past the campus (Fleur City, Isle of Woe, etc) it is easier to believe in a dream than magic.
Very cautious. At first she believed all the students were in on it, but as she proceeds through the main story and learns of their intricate backgrounds (so well thought out…no writing team could create such deep stories and niches for every interaction she has on the daily) she believes that all the students at NRC have been kidnapped as well. Illogical. Highly improbably. Again, she forgoes her logic in favor of a simpler answer.
Thinking that they have been brainwashed or part of her dream makes it easier for “Yuu” to let her guard down. Allowing her to be more proactive in her “role” beyond helping with the Overblots.
Unreliable narrator. She doesn’t care for them, she pities them. She isn’t interested in magic, she’s merely trying to understand the lore. She doesn’t want to help with events at NRC, she wants to learn the school layout to escape etc.
Uses her alias “Yuu” - crafting her own character, to put distance between herself and those in Twisted Wonderland. Convinced she is only acting, but isn’t. Also convinced she is playing the perfect part as the “Ramshackle Prefect” who is tough, smart, confident, perhaps a bit villainous, yadayada…is not. Anyone who picked up on her belief that they’re in a cult or in a dream (later chapters) or who she confronta about it, simply thinks it’s a fun quirk or a coping mechanism for her situation.
Lowkey is a coping mechanism. Again. Very intelligent. Her EQ towards everyone but herself is fine - but it’s clashing with her IQ. Accepting that this is reality will not be a fun time, no bueno.
Very sympathetic towards anyone with issues involving ambition, who they are, he future, or freedom. Especially freedom, given her belief about what TWST is. Lapses the most when confronted with people like Riddle, Epel, Azul, Malleus, Silver, Jamil, and Leona. Not people who can pick her apart (some can) but those that she will feel genuine empathy for.
Does not want to feel this empathy. Convinced it is to escape or an act of her psyche trying to pull her in. Does not want any attachments. Very upset she is feeling attached. Tacks it as part of “Yuu” - y’all see where I’m going?
Has some very ‘interesting’ dynamics with the main cast. Some think she’s batshit crazy for the complete flips in personality, some think she’s a foolish martyr at the wrong place at the wrong time, some thing she’s a plain idiot with dumb luck
Extra Ideas for future comics:
Assuming fae myths carry over - Lilia and Malleus both know “Yuu” is not her real name. Don’t say anything.
Ace is the first to figure out she genuinely believes they aren’t real people.
Trey’s chocolate chip cookies are her favorite food. Only lets Ace and Deuce crash at Ramshackle if they bring her some. She goes feral for pastry and spent so much time at Heartslabyul to eat, that they convinced her to start painting a card symbol on her cheek. Except since she isn’t a member, she can’t actually do that. So she took the crown because Riddle doesn’t paint one. No one in Heartslabyul has a crown after all.
Age is unknown. Doesn’t want to give Crowley more leverage. Somehow Rook got her birthday.
Has a tattoo. Discovered during the stitch event.
Very bad at maths and science - but hangs around the Science club to see what kind of ‘potions’ (she thinks the students are being drugged at some point) are brewed. Was caught by Crewel, put on cleaning as punishment, Trey saw her and yeah - can’t get out of it now if she wants her cookies.
Logics that spelldrive is possible through mechanics. The government can hide drones, why not flying brooms? Has tried to swipe one to see what makes it tick but Leona somehow is always there.
Has tried to break into Ignihyde on multiple occasions. Meets Idia way before chapter 7.
Idia gives Ramshackle an AC unit in exchange for her no longer trying to break in. She still tries because why honor agreement in a dream? Oetho is happy his brother is interacting with someone, even if it’s fighting through an intercom.
Leona is also fully aware that she thinks this is a cult by the end of his OB - and that she’s the one deluding herself. Thinks it is hilarious and will purposefully toss questions out there to see her try to rationalize it. Knows it won’t last but doesn’t want to burst her bubble just yet. Regrets this in chapter 7 for…reasons.
Belief of coma begins around the end of Chapter 4 - so she doesn’t have to logic Kalim’s carpet. Does wonder if jumping off will kill her if it is a dream. Is politely dissuaded not to by Jamil, who was the one to burst her bubble that this is indeed not a cult.
….his UM could have been what made a cult, but yk being controlled within a place where people are bing controlled just seemed a bit too much to rationalize at that point

HI I’M BACK AND I FINISHED SEASON 3 AND I HAVE THOUGHTS™️
Newsreader spoilers under the cut
Okay first: THE NEWSREADER IS ONE OF THE GREATEST TREASURES TO GRACE TELEVISION AND IT DELIVERED ON EVERYTHING
ANYWAY…
The open ending as far as Helen and Dale goes—my shipper heart is a little sad we didn’t get a more explicitly romantic ending for them BUT these two have so much healing to do, and it starts with being exactly where they are. Finding peace and happiness as individuals before they give themselves to any relationship. And I think, no matter what any fan was hoping for, they can take this ending and decide how it goes for them. (Also the loving way Helen spoke to him and looked at him while she was talking to him off air. 🥹) They’re both exactly where they need to be and in their element, and that’s what the audience has been rooting for since day one.
THE PARALLELS AND CONNECTIONS TO THE FIRST EPISODE IN THE LAST ONE. Dale singing Kyrie in the car. Helen taking Dale home and talking care of him and “coming up with a plan.” Fucking brilliant.
Helen’s journey this whole season—getting a diagnosis and coming to grips with it. Being resistant at first but coming around and COMMITTING to getting better even when it’s hard and she hates it—frickin’ facing the place where she was locked up and endured additional trauma. She truly came into her own, and I’m just continuously blown away by Anna Torv and how, in every single project she does, she puts so much care and thoughtfulness into how she portrays her characters and the difficult situations they face. And she’s just a fucking incredible actress. THE SCENE IN 3.03 AFTER SHE GOT HER DIAGNOSIS AND CALLED DALE BROKE ME. I don’t think anyone else could have portrayed Helen. I just don’t. And Helen’s arc was all the more satisfying because the writers/creators decided to trust their talent and make her just as much a part of the creative process.
And Dale…oh my boy Dale. Sam frickin’ Reid the actor you are. Dale’s character arc has to be one of the most intense and challenging I’ve ever seen on TV, and Sam probably had the hardest job. Dale’s breakdown? OH MY GOD. We always knew Dale needed to break. He would have to be driven to the brink to be human again. And, just like with Anna as Helen, there was no one more qualified to bring Dale Jennings to life. Holy shit. Incredible, meaty, deep storytelling happens when you have creatives with a vision and actors they’re on the same page with. Sam got it from day one, and he saw it through to the end.
But Helen and Dale, stars of the show they are, are not the only incredible arcs we got to see. THE SATISFACTION OF WATCHING LINDSAY CUNNINGHAM GET KICKED OUT ON HIS ASS AND DENNIS SITTING IN HIS SEAT. The stuff of legends. And not just Dennis getting his moment (which we absolutely saw coming after he clocked Lindsay last season), but JEAN FUCKING PASCOE yelling at him from across the newsroom. I clapped. I cheered. And you know, I even cheered a bit for Evelyn Walters in all of it. She’s out for herself and still doesn’t get it (and Geoff was far from a victim), but she stood when it counted. She took action on one good thing. And watching them all collectively work together to get Lindsay what he deserved? Delicious.
And then we’ve got my girl Noelene who also went through The Most™️ oh… She’s got so much to figure out about standing up for herself and what she wants, and Rob’s got so much growing to do to be a better husband and father. But she did stand up for herself. She stopped being afraid to tell people how she felt and what she needed. She called Rob out on his racist tendencies and opened up to him about her work/motherhood balance, and she called out Helen for using her like everyone else and overworking her, and they both listened. She has hope ahead of her, and it was beautiful to see.
A few other small notes:
The whole Dale/Kay dynamic was so strange, but it needed to happen. Her constant comparisons of him and Geoff helped fuel his necessary fall. And it served to show what a terrible place Dale was in.
Cheryl got married!!! Good for her 🩷
Fuck Bill, and congrats to Helen for being like “I’m not gonna be punished because I didn’t wanna fuck you”
Tim gets a well deserved love and happy ending!!!
I’m really happy they brought back Linus. What a treasure.
Overall, as sad as I am to see this show go, they delivered on all counts. Everything they said they would be, they were. Every arc, satisfying. Just so beautifully and masterfully done, and with love by everyone involved. 18 episodes of perfection. And if Michael Lucas and Emma Freeman ever produce another show together and hire Anna Torv and/or Sam Reid or any of the wonderful-across-the-board cast? I will get my VPN’s worth as an American and be there for it.

Why Isn’t Thetis Remembered As Medusa Is?
A woman so devoted to her god/goddess (Zeus and Athena respectively) that they’ve given selflessly and wholly to them, only to be repaid in rape and despair. Both pursued by Poseidon. Both intimately involved in the stories of two of the most prominent and powerful heroes in all Greek mythology (Achilles and Perseus respectively), both ultimately coming to an unhappy ending because of said heroes (Achilles’ death and Medusa’s death at the hands of Perseus). Both seem to exist peacefully and with devoted reverence to the gods only to be persecuted by the very gods who they’d demonstrated their allegiance to.
It just fills me with a pang of deep sorrow that Thetis is remembered simply as “Achilles’ mother,” and not for the many incredible myths she’s had a hand in.
#She is the foster daughter of Hera and was raised by her#Many sources list Thetis as “the greatest of the Nereids”#Meaning that she most likely was greatly revered back in the day#She saved Hephestaus after his great fall and raised him#She also raised Dionysus and protected him#She summoned the Hundred Hander Briareus to break the chains Hera had placed on Zeus when she overthrew him#This is all besides her Homeric arc#But that is also badass#Anyways y’all we gotta remember this lady as more than the unearthly mom of Achilles#She’s a dynamic character all by herself#Thetis#ancient greece#ancient greek mythology#ancient history

An AU to consider: Nurse Ogawa transferring to Deep Space Nine alongside Miles and Keiko.
Ogawa has a really magnetic charm to her, it’s impossible not to like her. She is also very intelligent, a studious professional, and deeply dedicated to her work.
She also has several years experience in the field over her Chief Medical Officer, who is fresh out of the academy and a little too enthusiastic about everything.
She thinks Bashir is adorable. He reminds her a bit of Wesley, so she ends up mothering him without meaning too. Julian would stop her, but it makes him feel kinda fuzzy and warm when she’s like that. (He mistakes this for romantic interest in her, but she actually bursts out laughing when he tries to ask her out, and then spends a week apologising for it. Julian decides it’s probably not worth a second attempt, and they settle into a nice doting friendship instead.)
She, Keiko, and Garak have a wine & whine club on weekends.
#star trek#star trek ds9#star trek tng#alyssa ogawa#julian bashir#.i was thinking about how much i loved ogawa in tng recently and like.#.she was such an easy to like character as well like she smiles and you fall in love.#.and thinking about that lower decks episode in tng too.#.i would have loved to see ogawa become a spotlight character like miles did tbh.#.and if they dragged in another transplant from tng and it was a woman i think the writers would have felt compelled to give her and keiko.#.a friendship of sorts by default.#.and wouldn’t it have been nice if keiko was given more focus episodes as well. ):#.anyway mostly i just think ogawa would be a good counterpart to bashir.#.they’re both very cute and optimistic and then dead serious when it comes to their work.#.but they’re like. very different beyond that. alyssa is more humble and content with a lower rank and daily work.#.julian wants to aim bigger to help more people on a larger scale.#.ogawa rolls with her failures and punches and brushes herself off and keeps going.#.julian stews in his failures and takes them all as a personal issue no matter what.#.i just think they’d be an interesting dynamic.

You know how Charles reacted to the daughters in the Devlin House? Rewatching the scene when Crystal is yelling at Edwin "HE'S OUR FUCKING DEMON NOW"
trying to explain she's scared and feeling alone, Charles' face journey in that scene. . .
I feel like it's a similar connection around the after-effects of abusive interactions he's remembering along with her then. Realizing the kind of relationship Crystal had with David, knowing what it's like to have someone fuck with your head and leave you scared and alone after. . .

My Personal Headcanon On Why Amy's Love For Sonic Died Down Lately (and their dynamic)
When they were younger, Amy's love for Sonic was pretty extreme, and Sonic was, understandable, uncomfortable for the most part. He knows she means well, but that girl needs to calm down.
She can fight, but sometimes her hammer could only stun her enemies for a while. (It took her a long time to get rid of that robot that has been chasing her around Station Square.) She wasn't fully independent yet, even if she fought on her own a couple of times.
She often follows Sonic and his friends around. She is part of the team, but she was not a strong as she is now at the time yet.
She admires Sonic. A LOT. And Sonic knows that. Obviously, he could only run away from something like that, since he is NOT ready for that kind of thing, and whether Amy takes the hint or stop, she still loves him.
...BUT, I think things were slightly starting to change between her and Sonic after Lost World.
Remember this line?
You remember that? Okay, okay. Here's another totally unrelated question:
Before the events of Lost World, when was the last time Amy said "I love you" to Sonic out loud?
...YEP. 😈 (Unless I'm missing something, let me know lmao)
As more games and adventures come out, the characters get slightly older, and Amy is 12 to 13 now, and she is most certainly at that age where her body starts to change, but especially on how she views Sonic.
She knows she loves Sonic, but it was this moment during her change where she actually wanted to admit that she loves him.
I believe that Amy was all about sharing her affection to him not through confessions, but through obvious hints. Sonic totally got it, and there was no need to confess. Sonic knows she loves her.
...But she never said it. And she almost did, but she never did again for a while.
I think this was the moment in her life where, oh, God, she actually loves Sonic. SHE LOVES HIM, WHAT.
And she was looking back at all the times she had with Sonic that she can now see were unpleasant to Sonic (At least that's what she thinks) and that's probably why she isn't so expressive about her love to him than how she used to back then.
She wasn't sure what to do with this realization, and sets aside it for a while, and nearly stayed as her casual, peppy self... until the Eggman War happened.
During the 6 months of being with the Resistance, fighting Eggman's army all day and all night, all she can think of was Sonic.
She dreams that he still with not just her, but with her friends. She just wanted to see Sonic again, she just wants to be with her hero again.
But I'd like to think that she was also thinking about how she used to treat Sonic back when they were younger, how Sonic would almost always run away from her whenever she asks him out, or always look so uncomfortable whenever she gets so close to him.
Cringing at those memories big time, she wanted to change and hopefully when Sonic is okay and comes back, she can be better for him.
...Or will he still find her uncomfortable regardless? Would he even be happy to see her at all if he did survive?
But, hold on! She can't just give up her love for Sonic! He made her who she is today! A peppy, nature-loving, hammer-swinging, confident, brave... loud-mouth... annoying... Sonic obsessed... weak... pathetic... lonely little girl.
If she gives up on Sonic, it'll be like she gave up on the one hedgehog who saved her life. If she didn't she'll still be the same ol' Amy.
I also like to think she had parents a long while before she met Sonic, and was even expecting a little sister, but a robot invasion happened from where she was and attacked her parents and instead of trying to save them, after getting hurt, she ran away, hoping that they'll come back okay. But they never did.
She was all alone, and needed someone, a friend, a new family, someone who will hold her hand, anyone, to be there for her. But she was ignored by lots, and at that point, she's better off by herself, but still longed for company.
Eventually though, her tarot cards told her her future hero, and there might be hope after all. She encountered Sonic, held onto the belief of the cards tight, and the rest is history.
So, with that headcanon in mind, not only did Amy loose her parents that she didn't save because of her cowardliness (she was only so little at the time that happened) and also Sonic, who she thought will be her only hope, but now gone.
She doesn't even care if he did come back, he'd probably hate her now after everything she did to him, always talking about their "future wedding" or forcing him to go to Twinkle Park.
For the last few months of the war, it was nothing but Amy mentally beating herself up for either refusing to change or moving on, and they are both not fine choices.
She loves Sonic, but he does not love her, and she finally, finally realized it. And it's probably for the best if no body loved her at all.
But of course Sonic did survive and all of her worries wash away in an instant, she's just not expressive about her love for Sonic AT ALL now, since she's still worried about it but rather not mention it to Sonic because it doesn't matter.
If Sonic doesn't love her, then her feelings don't matter to him, and according to Amy herself, that is okay.
But also, I'd like to think that Sonic was thinking about his friends a lot up in the Death Egg for the past months, sometimes it's Tails (worried for his safety), sometimes it's Shadow (because he's wondering why he would join Eggman.) At some point, for a few days, Amy was in his mind the longest, and he felt bad about how he thought he was rude and pushy to her.
He wondered if she's not thinking about it too much, and if she is, will she give up on him? Yeah, he doesn't feel the same and still not looking for a relationship, but it's so strange but interesting how anyone could ever like someone like Sonic the Hedgehog. Amy was never afraid to show that, and she probably might be now.
He couldn't help but feel guilty. They were kids when she was like this, but he was so... arrogant at the time too. Not a lot happened at the time yet. He'd always have trouble expressing how much he value his friends, until he shattered the Paradox Prism. (I'd like to think Prime took place before Forces. It makes sense.)
She is such a sweet girl, and he probably made her believe that he didn't care for her. Just because he doesn't feel the same, that doesn't mean he hates her at all.
He wished he never ran away from Amy... Worrying for his little bro and wishing to be a good person for Amy was when Sonic cried in the Death Egg for the first and only time.
Frontiers, in my opinion, is kind of confirming their dynamic now. Sonic is a lot more sincere and kinder to Amy and she is not all hyperactive and lovey to Sonic. There is probably a real reason for this now.
They are both hiding their feelings from them, and they are both unaware of this. Amy, hiding her mental issues from Sonic, and Sonic, hiding his guilt away from Amy.
None of those things are important now. Sonic is with Amy and Amy is with Sonic. They are here with each other. They can be finally be better for each other now.
They don't care if they'll ever be something more when they get older. None of that matters anymore. They are here with each other. They can be finally be better for each other now.
Maybe someday they'll both talk about it, but for now, the present is important. They care about each other too much to think about it right now.
It's the kind of love that is unbreakable. It doesn't even have to be romantic. It's just love. Love is important for everyone, in any form. It's something Sonic and his friends need. And especially Sonic and Amy.
Amy Rose is the living embodiment of love, and without her, a lot would go downhill for Sonic and co. Heck, if it weren't for her, Shadow wouldn't have never remembered Maria's promise, which lead him to save the world with Sonic, before he temporarily disappeared from their lives for a while.
She is always there to lend a helping hand for anybody, even bad guys like Metal Sonic, and despite what she had been through, both in Forces and headcanon wise, she still fights back, even without her hammer.
She will pick you back up on your feet, reminding you that you are important and that you are loved, and that you should never give up. It's pretty much the words of encouragement she herself needed also...
She is still the happy, hyper, butt-kicking hedgehog we all know and love, but she still need someone to pick her back up on her feet after so long. Thankfully, she has her friends and her blue hero. The hero who made her who she is today.
I think Amy has no idea how important she thought she is, but Sonic does. Sonic knows fully well how important she is to a lot of people. It's about time he returns the favor to her. It's his turn to remind her how much a lot of people love her.
How much he loves her.
And I feel like The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog was the moment where their dynamic really shined, but also the starting point of their relationship not only healing, but also the next chapter of what's to come for them.
Everyone, friends old and new, gathered around for a special birthday. A birthday for the confident, unshakable, and radiant Amy Rose.
It was such a special moment in Amy's life. After years of chasing and following the people she look up to, she is part of the team, but most importantly, she is part of the family.
She is fully realized as someone more than just a fangirl, but someone strong, courageous, creative, kind and a big inspiration for others.
I feel like this moment here...
-is where Amy is eternally grateful to call her friends her family. A family she thought she'll never have again. She's not alone anymore, and as long as they're by her side, she'll never will be again.
Her chasing days are over. She's finally caught up to them. She's finally home.
And it's all thanks to Sonic.
If it weren't for him, she'd probably be alone forever. Her past moments with Sonic might be embarrassing to look back on for a while, but they are good memories regardless, because they involve him.
Sonic saved her life in more ways than one, and despite everything, he's grateful to have her too.
He cares about her. He really does... And in her eyes, that all she needed to know. As long as Sonic loves her in his own way, she'll be happy.
Amy hasn't given up on Sonic. As long as Amy always supports him, he'll be happy.
Maybe sometime in the future, they can talk about their problems, but that's a story for another time. At this point, they need to. Right now, they are happy. They are okay.
They are here for each other. They are finally better for each other now.
"You guys won't ever leave me, right?"
"Wouldn't dream of it."
#piko rambles#sonic the hedgehog#amy rose#Meant to be platonic but I don't care if you tag as ship lol#I've been meaning to post something like this for the longest time now but never really got into posting it-#-because you guys REALLY hate seeing these two together for some reason.#Well not for SOME reason. There are valid reasons why you don't ship them. Everyone has valid reason why they don't ship this or that.#But sometimes those reasons can just sound so petty to me. Like the reason why is because Amy is a stalker or Sonic hates her which is FALS#Also those age gap arguments are understandable but so goddamn annoying sometimes. Maybe when they hit their late teens or early twenties-#then they can be together if they want to. Besides a good percentage of Sonic ships are better off if they waited til they're old enough im#I love them regardless of whether they're just friends or an awkward older cringe fail couple lmao#But them being just friends and hiding away all their emotions towards each other just to keep them safe and happy with them- 😭😭😭#Son/adow is my favorite ship of all time and sonamy is my favorite childhood ship/platonic ship because they both have one thing in common.#ANGST 😀#I've been thinking about Sonic and Amy's dynamic as of late and MAN-#Mixed with some personal headcanons of mine and their dynamic as of late just makes me so emotional.#Sonic and Amy have gotten so close now and it's so sweet but so heartbreaking at the same time when you think about it.#I'm so happy they are getting along better and being there for each other but there is so much to dissect here. So much to think about.#I might be a little silly but Amy losing her parents and being alone for so long and being the reason why she's always hanging onto Sonic-#-explains SOOOOOOOOO much about her. At least that's my headcanon for WHY that is.#Amy with abandonment issues speaks to me on a personal level. I'm always afraid of being forgotten or left behind by my family.#I sometimes feel like I'm not good enough no matter how hard I try. I do not blame Amy. I relate to her a lot. It's one of the many reasons#-why Amy is my favorite character besides Sonic and Shadow.#She fights hard to prove she's a valuable member of the team and hates getting left behind but despite all that she wasn't afraid to-#-express herself and her love for people. But after the Eggman War there was some changes that made her less expressive about her love.#Yeah she still loves Sonic but she doesn't admit it because none of that matters anymore and she thought that not being loved by Sonic#-is better than being loved since she nearly wasted her life loving someone who she thought has constantly bothered. 🥲#But I think after TMoStH I think she'll be less afraid of being expressive about it. She and Sonic are just so caring for each other 😭#I love these two way too much that when I think about them for too long I'll start SOBBING 😭😭 I'M EVEN SOBBING RIGHT NOW LMAO

I think about how some people actually hate on Yuji, Nobara and Megumi and get confused because I went into JJK and by episode 3 I adored them.
#like what you mean you don't like them?#best girl and best boys? unbelievable#they easily became my favorite anime trio#their dynamic actually feels fresh and enjoyable#like genuine you know?#individually i say they're great on their own too#nobara being a girl into girly things while also not afraid to get blood she instantly won me over#true to herself good for her#I'm sorry megumi isn't some angsty teenager who has that typical 'I'm better than you' attitude#he actually is relatable because sometimes i don't care to have all that energy and I'm usually energetic!#he has a heart and his actions can be understood IF SOME OF YOU ACTUALLY TAKE A STEP BACK AND READ AND OPEN YOUR MINDS#then there's yuji! HE IS THE MC! HELLO?!#even though he's gifted yuji is humble about it#he's selfless he's a goof and sometimes he isn't with the bull some characters pull#i can go all day about my fave but i already got posts#just kiya's thoughts#jjk#jujutsu kaisen#itadori yuji#kugisaki nobara#fushiguro megumi#megumi fushiguro#yuji itadori#nobara kugisaki

i love how fraught and complicated discourse around various utena characters ‘dying’ is when anthy is literally stabbed to death eternally by a million swords imbued with human hatred. and then utena gets stabbed to death by them also. like. ‘death’ is incredibly interesting in rgu because most of the time it’s this ambiguous figurative thing that has interesting implications re: ohtori as a closed-off world one can escape. we are all trapped in our coffins. mamiya is the only named character with a grave. nemuro memorial hall functions as one all the same. ruka is implied to have died in the hospital— was he dead all along? who was the boy we saw for these two episodes? is this dead boy the same boy, or is this just another coincidence from the shadow girls, cutting like a knife? it’s heavily implied that akio and anthy murder kanae by poisoning her, adding to the previous implication that they were poisoning mr ohtori too, but there are no perceptible consequences of this. kanae’s absence is not felt. she’s fed an apple slice. what happens to the bodies? we know what happened to the 100 boys, but what about everyone else? and so on and so forth. ‘death’ is a tricky thing in utena, i think it’s constantly functioning on figurative and literal levels in very different ways for very different purposes. dios died. dios was dying. dios didn’t die. he grew up. etc etc
#what am i trying to say here?#idk! think about all of the pieces you have#dying is complicated in ohtori in countless different ways#and i find it boring to see so much ‘this character is dead and that’s it’ stuff#when death is used farrrrrrr more figuratively than some ppl give credit for#and i think the movie too does wonderful things with death#and what ‘dying’ really means#being disbelieved. being forgotten. being rejected. haunting despite this#much more interesting to think about wrt commentary on abusive relationships than it is#to think about what?? oh me when my brother died but plot twist he’s alive and can walk on this road all cool. like?????#akio doesn’t have the power to make himself revenant#he THINKS he does and he absolutely has power when he’s alive and he imbues that power with such meaning that it does live on after him#but ANTHY. anthy is the one struggling with herself and her feelings and the impact of trauma and abuse (that power!!) in aou#he’s dead? he died? she brought him back through her memories? or she’s left him (metaphorical death) and he’s haunting her??#all such interesting interpretations#i haven’t mentioned touga bc i don’t have the energy today. if dead and just illusion of others memories then why active. why awful#like in aou akio is only Obviously scummy when he’s alive. his illusory self is based upon anthy’s love for him#if anime!touga is nothing more than nanami/whoever’s memories of him before he died……. why does he actively choose to suck again and again#like nanami wouldn’t do that. unless it was meant to be a subconscious thing like ooo he’s dead all along but that’s not what her arc is#it’s not ‘he’s been dead all along’ literally or figuratively. it’s ‘he’s unsafe and i don’t want him’#sigh. once again i am asking people to think about nanami and touga’s dynamic through touga’s eyes#it’s so interesting to me how people forget to consider his motivations or feelings on ANYTHING#like sure his motivations and feelings are scummy but they’re interesting!!!!! they intrigue me!!!!#compel me even#anyway ignore how i said i didn’t have the energy for this and then typed it all out anyway#dais.txt

I really wish modern aus would acknowledge that there's no universe where Scara was planned, the closest human equivalent to his messy origins imho is 'Ei went on a year long bender to try and cope with her sisters death, ended it with a baby and no clue who the father is'
#Or possibly two babies if you wanna have the Shogun around-#raiden ei#scaramouche#wanderer#genshin impact#Like... Scara and Ei's fucked up dynamic is generally really hard to translate to modern au#Because Ei would be a terrible mother but she also just. Wouldn't be a mother?#She throws herself into her work to try and cope and when that works she finds a way to functionally kill herself without losing her job-#Which like.#Istg it's so hard for me to talk about these characters because everything about them is all heavy explorations of loss#But like. They're SO fucking funny-#Like. On the one hand it's a tragic and poignant exploration of how grief can cause stagnation#But it's also Local Nerd Accidently Makes Children In Attempt To Never Leave Her Room Again-

The Beforan ancestors are so...
We know nothing about them. We know exactly who they were. Not one of them has ever spoken a single line in anything even canon-adjacent. Everyone can agree that He Would Not Say That. We know their full legal names. We don't know what anyone called them in adulthood. We can make some pretty solid predictions about their interpersonal relationships. We don't know which of them were even alive at the same time. We only know they exist because of a bunch of parodies of 2012 tumblr.
#homestuck#beforus#just fascinated by the way the structure of homestuck makes it really really easy to analyze these characters who are inherently absent#pre-scratch feferi is the only one whos so much as alluded to the rest are barely implied#but unlike say dad crockers mom we know for a fact that they existed and we can talk about them with canon support#we cant prove anything because again they are not discussed in canon but#we know they lived on beforus#we know that most if not all of them arrived long before the dancestors#(see post scratch handmaid for evidence of potential exceptions)#we know their 'role' was to prepare their descendants for sburb#we know they were cloned in an ectobiology lab on a meteor and karkat was there#(ig technically they appear on panel in that one image of karkat getting covered in grubs since that was pre-portal but...)#we know feferi was the empress#everything else we have to extrapolate from what we know about beforus#(and everything we know about beforus is extrapolated from interactions with 12 long dead teenagers who hadnt been on the planet for years)#and what we know about sburb/sgrub and what we know about the main trolls and the alternian ancestors#we have five different sources for seer/knight interactions that we can apply to the beforan karkat/terezi dynamic#we know who vriska is when she models herself after mindfang and we know who mindfang was and we know who non-mindfang aranea is so...#we know how kankri talks about his mutation and we know what happened to the signless and we know who karkat is and we know feferi#we can make some really good guesses!#we dont even know if adult tavros had wings

actually so evil how much of hal's internal world gets obliterated with the rewriting of his relationships with jessica and martin.
#hal jordan#empyrean posting#ok going in the tags because im not actually v confident in my understanding of his character. i read all of his 80s/90s stuff but forgot#90% of it but ANYWAY.#so much of him just does not make sense with how geoff johns characterises him and his relationships with his parents particularly the#parallax stuff simply because of how much his relationship with the guardians and their apathy/'betrayal' is influenced by hal's original#relationship with his dad. like at its heart it's pretty much the same dynamic in how hal blindly trusts and sort of idolises the guardians#despite their repeated infractions in hope of... something in return just as he had with his father and the abuse he suffered at martin's#hands. that's what makes his anger at the guardians make sense when it does show itself because the relationship parallel didn't stop there.#as with martin hal gets nothing for his devotion. he gets nothing for doing everything that's asked of him and more and it ends the same way#too: with a man in the sky burning like a newborn star. and you lose so much of that nuance and intrigue behind that if you just make#jessica the 'bad one' because!!! you cheapen it!!!!#the whole idea of hal is that he has his father's face but his mother's scars#(to me). in the sense that they both reacted to martin the same way with that cognisance of who he was as a man yet inability to pull away#because... love. both the love they had for him and the conviction that he did or could love them too. and jessica arguably did eventually#but also she didnt did she? because she held onto that notion of love till the very end. the few scraps she had she ballooned outwards until#they became the whole. but hal didnt have even that and he spent his whole life chasing it & running away from wanting it at the same time#like i think there's something so interesting to the fact that he had to be convinced that flying was what he wanted to do. how much of that#was touched by his father? the fear that he was already too much like him than he could bear to be? he already had his face now he had his#dreams and longing for the sky. how much more could he have before he began repeating the cycle?#and at the end he even had his father's death. burning in the clouds. like there's so much there and that's not even touching on how it#impacts his relationships with other heroes. not just in the sense of why did kyle clark and diana get to keep their close yet complex#relationships with their moms when hal had to lose his (although yeah why did they) but also just how he lets himself come across to them.#because it's on purpose right? that he lets them think his reflection of his father is born out of unadulterated love for a man worthy of it#? he has his father's job he wears his father's jacket he smiles his father's smile. what else are they supposed to think.#and isnt that interesting!!! that this man who is so committed to being good & just can lie so casually to people he thinks of as friends!!!#can you see how that might be his mother through and through!!! in how she might have glossed over the abuse to other people and herself!!!#can you see how in spite of it all he might want to be perceived as his father that paragon of masculinity and resent that he is not!!!#do you understand how everything he loves has been poisoned!!! im thinking of that scene where he tells bruce about watching martin die &#wouldnt it have been so much more interesting through this lens. how he is both revealing & obfuscating at once. i hate the change sm
