Question for sewing Tumblr: I have an old flannel from early high school that's now a size too small, and I'd get rid of it except I love the old thing and want to turn it into a vest. The sleeves are too tight to move my arms comfortably, but the shirt feels fine if I leave it unbuttoned. I think it will look really grungy and punk, especially with some patches on it.
My question is, is there some way I could use the fabric from the sleeves to enlarge the vest? I'd hate to waste perfectly good fabric. Or is there something cool I can make with old flannel sleeves? I think my mom tossed my stash of fabric scraps I use for plush toys, so that's probably off the menu. Otherwise I'd just use them to make tiny accessories a sock monkey or something.

Okay final poll about my current sewing project. I have about 15cm high waistband so we are looking at at least three points of closure where it needs to close around my waist. I have ties that can make a bow but that is supposed to be for the back

My dad and a coworker are poker players, and they commissioned me to make pouches for their dice and decorative chips! I had a lot of fun picking out the fabric, and I love how they turned out! If you’re interested in something like this, check out my Etsy store NerdyCreationsStudio!

Figured I'd try the sewing side of Tumblr to ask about ripstop nylon fabric to make a smaller puffalump with. Normally this is something I'd ask my Mom as she sews too, but this is a material that neither of us had used before. Is there anything I need to use on it before sewing like fray check the edges or is it fine as is? Does it take to fiber dyes well or should I stick to embroidery for any markings?

do you guys have a recommendation for a decent sewing machine?
Must be able to sew button holes, otherwise I don't need special stuff.
please?

FUCK I accidentally got the wrong kind of thread. Anyone know if you can use button&craft thread to hem a dress? Sewing machine capabilities aren’t an issue, I’m doing this entirely by hand

Sewing Tumblr help! I accidentally ironed part of my lining too high and it warped part of the fabric. Is there a way to relax it out again?

I was graciously given the Runes for Modern Life deck by a friend, and I decided to use this 60s-esque fabric to make the bag! If you’d like a custom pouch for your divination deck, you can order one at my Etsy store, NerdyCreationsStudio!
