Y'know, If The Dragon Prince had originally been produced in the 80s-90s, Mr. Tim Curry would probably have been the perfect cast as the voice actor for Aaravos

I mean, let's check out some of the characters he has voiced:

Hexxus from Ferngully (1992)

Ben Ravencroft from Scooby Doo and The Witch's Ghost (1999)

Dr. Anton Sevarius from Gargoyles (1994-1997)

Philippe from Barbie and the Three Musketeers (2009)

They all give the same "manipulative villain, who is a massive danger to the world where the story is set in, but also has such a pleasant" vibes.

Also, Tim Curry originally played Pennywise in the first adaptation of It in 1990. So he kinda has a past experience playing a "cosmic-being" that torments the main characters, and the world where the story takes set.

Not me idly rerererererererererewatching Gargoyles and realizing I didn't post the Gargoyles AU shit that took me and @amutantturtleenthusiast (18+ blog) by our throats for... what was it, almost a month????

we definitely mangled a few concepts for maximum drama

we hit everything, forbidden love, clan politics, clan betrayal, curses that lasted a 1,000 years, reincarnated lovers, stolen family, unethical genetic research, we had Anton Sevarius and Jasper Barlow for ultra fuckery, enraged glowy eyed action, tender romance, figuring out how the new york subway system works, overseas travel shenanigans when half your party turns to stone in the day, the implications of half your crew turning to stone during the day, hilarious clan-to-clan misunderstandings, revenge quests... hoo.

🥰🤭🧸😊 Also, favorite Gargoyles character, storyarc, and what you'd have liked to see in the show if it had continued (I haven't read any of the recent comics).

Awww you are genuinely too sweet. (I’m kind of glad I give off soft vibes to at least one person, I worry I tend to be prickly 😅)

Favourite character I do think is Demona. She- hold on, I’m gonna ramble for a moment.

I really do love how they made her a tragic monster yet a monster nonetheless. She’s so miserable and lonely and most of her problems are her own fault but she CANNOT face up to that, how can she really face up to the immensity of what she’s done. So she runs, and she hides, and she blames everyone she can for the things she’s brought upon herself. What else can she do really? Her spite and hatred are the only things keeping her going and they keep her going for a thousand years. She won’t give it up for the man she loved and may still love, she won’t give it up for her daughter, she won’t give it up for her kind despite claiming to do it all for them. She lost herself in the mad dash away from her atrocities. She throws away any chance at happiness at the slightest possibility it may go poorly because she’d rather do so than risk it. Queen of cutting off your nose to spite your face. She was given a name, something gargoyles generally don’t have, by a human she grew to hate yet never gave the name up. I have her action figure.

(Also it is WILD to me that the writers found a loophole that allowed her to go on a killing spree of actual humans in a Disney cartoon)

Shout outs to Goliath, Elisa, Hudson, Angela and my BOY Bronx though. They’re also some of the favourites and honestly this is a show where just about every character I at least like.

As for story arc, hmm. Macbeth and Demona’s weird little dance comes to mind, and the City of Stone episodes were a big part of that. As well as that King Arthur just… shows up a couple of times. I’m also kinda partial to the first season which was largely just “will our heroes literally ever get a leg up on Xanatos?”

(The comics are pretty fun! If a bit rushed.) Hmm, I think I do want to know a bit more about the Illuminati and how they work in this universe. I’d like to see more of Alex’s growth and his dynamic with Lex. Oh! Also I kind of wish we got a bit more focus on Elisa and Broadway’s friendship. Same with Hudson and Robins. Also I would like to see more Sevarius popping up and somehow surviving whatever mess gets caused.

My Thoughts on Gargoyles Issue 6: Underwater

Another great issue with a few jaw dropping, surprising moments.

Brooklyn is Narrating, he seems to be struggling as leader, while Goliath is in Prison. He doesn’t think he’s doing anything right.

Goliath refuses to be rescued and thinks it’s best he stays because he thinks it will make things worse.

So Dino Dracon tries to blow up Grisha Volkov. I thought it was going to be a first character death for this comic but he survives, he is badly injured though. 

Volkov thinks Brod and Dane are behind the bombing and asks his son to get rid of Brod. We don’t see his son at first but it made me think that we already know this character and made me keep guessing throughout the comic.

So now Dino Dracon has got Sanchez vs Yingpei and Brod/Dane vs Volkov and is now going after Izaak Slaughter.

So It was Xanatos who hired Tobe Crest to be Goliath’s Lawyer, Hmm i’m starting to think it was Xanatos who donated the resources to the Gargoyles Task Force. He did have this plan during the SLG series and Phase 1 was the Halloween Party.

Brooklyn asks Coldstone and Coldfire to protect them during the day, as he still doesn’t trust Xanatos. I wonder he knows something about Xanatos during his Timedancing journey.

John Casterway is back, I wonder who he is standing next to him.

This took me by surprise, Antoinette visiting Broadway asking for help to stop her uncle. I know that Tony must have told his sister about the Gargoyles but how did she know where they lived? Did she just guess or has connections. The castle is under lockdown too, unless that was only for the day time. 

I’m not trusting her at the moment but also concerned about her at the same time because if Dino finds out that she’s been going behind his back and trying to stop him, she could be in big trouble. I do have a theory that she could end up in Sevarius hands, he does have a syringe with Angela’s DNA in it and he was going to use it on Robyn Canmore in the Bad Guys comic series.

I love the 2 page spread of Brooklyn Timedancing Journey:-

- 210 bce Brooklyn visits China and come across the Terra-Cotta Soldiers.

- 2198, Thought that his visit to 2198 happened before he met Katana but she’s with him, unless he visit’s it twice. I wonder if lost his eye during 2198.

- 1942, visit’s USS Nashville.

Broadway ignores Brooklyn’s orders about staying at the castle and goes to Izaak Slaughter film studios, assuming to warn him about Dino Dracon or help him.

Lex follows him. I just love their little chat. Broadway ask’s Lex if he wants to be his Second for his and Angela’s Mating Ceremony, Lex says yes. Also Broadway asking Lex about his long distance chat with Amp, Lex just smiles and quickly changes the subject.

So how did Dino Dracon get a hold of Cyberbiotics drone bots, did they buy them or steal them.

The ending was a surprise, turns out Volkov son is Wolf, he wants to get rid of Brod but with Tony in the same Prison cell as him, Wolf ask’s Dino is it ok if Tony get’s caught up in the crossfire too, which he’s fine with. Wolf will also try to get rid of Goliath too. So is he going alone or is Jackal and Hyena going with him too.

Demona returns in issue 7, I can’t wait but I wonder how she fits into all this, i’m excited.

Oh to be a fly on a wall in Cyberbiotics...you KNOW people were talking about this at the water cooler like it was a tv show, this gossip is right off the griddle everyone!!

Your boss loses some of his (presumably highly valued staff, as he knew them by name) to his daughter's boyfriend and gets divorced??? HELLO??? I wonder if there were any more migrations between the workforce from one company to the other - I feel like there probably would have been after Fortress I blew up (Thank you, Demona <3 Sorry, Goliath </3) and sank in the river. That's a big fuck-up. That's a Government Investigation Level fuck-up.

And then Preston works with Fox to try and destroy his company in "Outfoxed" before having a crisis of conscience - if he weren't a billionaire I'd be asking, "can this guy land a win?"
