Considering how Disney worked Puck into Gargoyles, I am LIVING for this! Yes, please!

What would actually rock is a performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream where Puck and Philostrate were played as the same person.

Pros of this include:

Puck getting very nervous whenever he's telling Oberon that morning is coming, not because he's a fairy, but because he's gonna be late for his day job

Puck accidentally running on for Philostrate while still in fairy costume, doing a quick ohshit and running back off to do a speed-change really quick, then sauntering back on again like nothing happened

Theseus and Oberon being completely unaware of their shared assistant and Puck working very hard to keep it that way

It would make Philostrate dissing the players so much funnier either way, but if he was (not so) subtly trying to use reverse psychology on Theseus to get Bottom his big break? 10/10.

I think one fundamental part of Puck's character is that he isn't all that good at his job and i feel like this just adds more layers on that.

This is so fascinating! Thank you for this. Haha. Amazing.

But the way this happened makes it sound like Owen was telling them who he was, which means I am entirely likely to continue to read into him as tho it was planned because I personally subscribe to a belief that when writers follow their characters, they're writing who they are going to be all along.

It's how we get readers going, "I see what you did there! That's brilliant that you <insert connection here> in this way" and authors internally are like, 'I didn't even do that intentionally 😅'

Like yes that's true but also you did because you were Consistent and Listened to your character!

BUT ALSO? I hold a belief that while yes Owen is a version of Puck, he is also something new and his own. I think there are aspects of Puck that show through, but I very much do prefer to think of Owen as his sort of own person apart from Puck too. So the reading of him works both ways no matter when the creators started to write it intentionally.

I've started rambling. But yes this is fascinating and I love it when creators listen to their characters so much (*cough*Korrasami*cough*) because it creates such marvelous through lines that works all the way.

It amuses me quite greatly that Owen just leads Elisa to the elevator and just sends her on her way. He is more thorough than that.

I can't help but wonder if the creators hadn't decided on Owen's back story yet or if this is some early mischief showing through. I know that it is done this way mostly for story. Because we have to get Elisa back in the castle by herself. But I don't like to leave it at just that. Not when it's so much more fun to contemplate.

I can't help but suspect that Owen kind of wants to see Elisa face the reality. She bulldozed her way in, waving aside excuses, prompting Xanatos into the little white lie that marked Owen as someone who gets 'confused', and openly remarked on an observation that for most would make her sound crazy. Perhaps he's curious what she would do when faced with the actual reality. I can imagine Owen might be one to look at humans face-to-face with gargoyles, fighting them, and remarking on how they're wearing masks, and be fascinated at the ways people will convince themselves that the world still works exactly as it always did while facing down something that breaks all the rules.

Perhaps if the little detective gets a taste of what is actually happening here, she will run away and never bother them again, unable to face something that challenges everything she knows about the world. He seems to say, 'are you really so sure you don't want to believe a generator exploded like the rest of New York will?'

If so, he's got another thing coming. Owen does enjoy being surprised by people after all. He should be happy at how this turns out! XD

i also am FLOOREDDDD abt how well they’re juggling the balance of “ed has totally lost the plot and is acting in ways that are unhinged dangerous and appalling even going way too far by pirate standards” and “ed is sympathetic and his internal state is important for context” like god i love him so much and like yeah he’s being an absolute nightmare but it’s always underlined that it’s not bc he’s an evil person it’s because he’s at the end of his rope unable to cope with the grief and the self hatred he’s feeling & always has. like i rly hope this is the edward season bc he’s really my favorite character and i really love what they’re doing with him so far
