Well he dated Nicole 100 years ago. Since then, he has mostly be spotted with younger women (Sofia Richie and Cindy Kimberly were barely legal). And Juliana was indeed with Lewis. She was the only black/mixed girl on that trip. There’s an obvious pattern in his behavior.

I hardly think they were serious relationships. He has been spotted with all the kardashians, hadids, nicki minaj, and all the other names I can't think of. in lieu of having posted any writing/headcanons/asks in the past few days because i have been *so* busy and unable to do anything fandom-related which is terrible and evil, i have a poll out of morbid curiosity and self-indulgence. i've been meaning to ramble here about how i feel about DC's lack fo Deaf representation and which Batfam members i would personally make Deaf, but i am mildly curious about the larger opinion and now i will subject you all to the question, i would love to hear thoughts/opinions/headcanons on any specific choices. (would love d/Deaf/HoH opinions esp but i'm mostly expecting this to reach the hearing crowd, so opinions from hearing ppl are ones i'm very curious about. if you've never given it thought before you are going to now or else /lh)

Yeah! Scotland is a complex guy with complex emotions and a very apparent struggle with said emotions, which I think can really misconstrue what his intentions are. As an individual, he is very much a dude who lingers on nostalgia and a firm desire to hold onto the past while still trying to live in the present with said past weighing on him constantly. His bad relationship with England is one that I feel is less on the basis of malice and more of regret. Scotland IS the eldest sibling and is the one who watched his brothers grow and change- something I think affected him a lot. He was inherently put in a more parental position as the eldest yet wasn’t -and still isn’t- in the position to be able to fulfill that role that’s wanted of him. He is a man who desires his independence as an entity but still has an unhealthy sense of relying on others. To sum up, Alasdair Kirkland is a pushover.

How this plays into his relationship with England is that, while yes they fought- fought a LOT- but there were many instances where Scotland inherently worked with England: which I think those instances weigh on Scotland’s conscious. Would England still be the same he is now if perhaps he had pushed a little harder? Fought against him a little more? If he had opposed the things that he had went along with? Would England have turned out differently if Scotland would’ve been a better older brother- that is the question that I think weighs on his mind and creates more of a feeling of dread and remorse- one that can culminate in the feeling of anger that you can sometimes see Scotland lash out with. That and of course the times that England is genuinely a shitface and Scotland rightfully doesn’t want to take his shit.

All to say- I think Scotland does hold inherent malice towards England- of course. But, I think trumping that is a sense of eldest sibling guilt that he is responsible for what his brother became by not trying hard enough to be a fighting force against what he was becoming.

I’m not proship I’m not antiship I’m not “proship-neutral” I am literally so far removed from any semblance of this debate it’s not even funny, and trying to involve me or decide where I fall “on the spectrum” very much goes against my boundaries for what I am comfortable with. If you picture the labels of proship and antiship on a line going left to right, with neutral in the middle, then in relation to that I am off in the corner building a sandcastle and running around catching butterflies with my hands

My only “stance” on this “debate” is that I just try to use common sense and basic media literacy. Like, yknow. A normal person. Also I don’t look or even think abt problematic stuff because like. Ew :(

But also just fyi for people out there, if you say ur blog is sfw but frequently bring up problematic matters, even in the form of complaining about them, then you are constantly discussing and exposing extremely nsfw topics regularly to a majority minor audience or audience that can be very uncomfortable with seeing it and you need to be aware of that!!!!

Hi, I heard that the donghua Athy will have prophetic dreams instead of being a reincarnated person and that Lucas will probably remain in his adult form all the time( I hope this is not true I want to see baby Lucas but considering the first pv, i think it will probably be true, hopefully not). I fear that their dynamic will change and Lucas is gonna catch pe*o allegations now 😭 even though they were two adults pretending to be kids.

The first thing is pretty much confirmed, going by the donghua's summary, but the details are unclear. I don't know if the "LP timeline" was only a vision or something more, it's too early to tell. As for Lucas only staying in his adult form, I don't know what makes you/people think that?

Lucas was introduced in his adult form in the novel and manhwa, and he is wearing the same outfit in the PV, so it seems to me that that'll be his introduction scene. I guess we'll have to see if he keeps his younger form, but the donghua's summary confirms that they will fall in love, so I doubt the chinese team will suddenly make it weird? (Especially when chinese media is heavily censored, which is likely the reason the plot was adapted to be less violent). Let's also remember that Lucas used his adult form multiple times in the manhwa, so if people disliked that, um, it's nothing new?

I know you mean no harm, but part of me feels like I shouldn’t even address this possible "discourse" because it's way too dumb. Some people have called novel and manhwa lucathy problematic before, for multiple reasons, all of them idiotic, so I'm sure they'll find a reason to dislike the donghua version too. I don't care, and you shouldn’t either.

Almost all isekai/time travel manhwa have an odd aspect since more often than not the protagonist is (mentally) way older than her love interest. No matter what, that's an element the writer can't avoid, but I think lucathy is one of the few pairings where this doesn't happen, because of their circumstances (Lucas slept for centuries so his body's age and his mental age are very different, plus he is a magician. There's no reason to think this will be different in the donghua. And Athy has her whole reincarnation thing. We'll see how that plays out.). Despite all of this, you have no one calling athykiel or other manhwa ships (I could give plenty of examples but I'd rather not) problematic because Athy/the FL is (at least) a (mentally) 30+ yo woman thinking a teenager is attractive. That's because manhwas are not that serious. Unless we are talking about the Princess Mint one. That one was weird and I don't like it.

(from my main but this is variousqueerthings): am really enjoying reading your analyses of amy -- I definitely felt more resonance with her on this last Big watch I did, when I could disconnect the way she would at times be underserved by the writing, from what was actually going on in her story, and it's fun going from there to reading deeper analysis that picks on those threads even further

I don't know if this refers to only my straight analyses I've posted on this blog, the rambling rants I've done in the tags of other people's posts, or my fics (someone once called a fic of mine an "eloquent rant" and sometimes I feel like that's a great way to describe the more "character-study"-esque of my fics), but either way thanks! I actually had my own reevaluation of Amy Pond as a character when I got back into Doctor Who this year thanks to various other blogs/others analyses (shout out to @saint-eleventh, @thefiresofpompeii, @spoofymcgee, @ameliapondmd, and plenty of others, including you, @variousqueerthings, with your rewatch series). The first time around, when I watching Doctor Who as a freshman in high school, I couldn't pick apart the Moffatisms from the foundation of a very compelling character full of fascinating contradictions and unabiding faith and a desperate loneliness that connects so well with Eleven's. (I also, full admission, hadn't gotten the shift between how companions were written in Davies' era v. Moffat's, with the companion's arc being as integral to the story during 9 and 10 v. during 11's- though I am also now realizing the mistakes that Davies made, especially with his handling of Martha and other black characters.) Now, though, I can ride with the fairytale vibes of Season Five, which has steadily risen through my season rankings, and can also appreciate the push-and-pull of Amy Pond.

I hate love triangles but looking at Rory and the Doctor now as embodying the themes of domesticity/growing up/stagnation v. travelling/danger/curiosity and the way that the narrative constantly tries to shove Amy into the former (literally making her a wife, a womb, a mother, a vessel, stripping away her agency at every turn) makes it all the clearer how Amy, whenever given the chance, turns to the TARDIS. She doesn't want Rory to die in Amy's Choice but chooses him by choosing the TARDIS and life with the Doctor. Her biggest act of agency in the show is demanding the Doctor show up at her wedding, literally yanking him into existence and demanding that he prove to the world that her faith in him was never mad, was always the most sane thing in the world. Even at the end of the God Complex, when she should hate him more than anything, she still believes in him (and frankly, he believes in her. Eleven and Amy are each other's gods as much as they are each other's best friends).

I think that Eleven and Amy are made for each other in the same way that Nine/Rose, Ten/Martha, and Twelve/Clara are made for each other, to believe in each other, to change each other, to make each other's stories full. I love Donna&Ten, Clara&Eleven, and Bill&Twelve as much as anyone else does (I seriously adore all of these dynamics), but you can't tell the Doctors' stories and arcs without the first set of pairings I mentioned. And realizing that about Amy and Eleven and the effect they had on each other (the fact that after eight hundred years without her, she is still the last face he sees before he regenerates, the fact that she can literally remember him from nonexistence) really made me realize the potential and impact of her run as a companion/their dynamic this go 'round. I think that's the great thing about a show that runs for this long and with so many doctor&companion pairings- you are constantly going to bump up against these relationships that transcend friendship and romance and go into world-shattering, character-arc-altering, often-verging-on-codependent dynamics that impact both sides for the rest of their lives.

I, uh- I do reblog things. I have some mental "rules" for what I like+reblog and what I "only" like. You can look through my blog and see I reblog a lot, both with and without tags. And I don't fully agree that likes don't do anything, although I know what you mean; for me, if I receive a like on my post, it means a lot to me. I understand that for others likes may be meaningless and not add any value to their day.

I'm not sure why this ask was sent, but I suspect it might be coming from someone whose posts I've 'liked' a lot, but haven't reblogged much? I sometimes save posts to draft to reblog later; sometimes I just don't want to reblog for whatever reason.

not necessarily a Trope but how do you feel about izzy (or any of the others) being trans in the canon era (because of the historical accuracy of it and all that)? genuinely curious, no wrong answer <3

ha well oh boy, maybe not a specific trope, but oh boy was i thinking about this earlier!

i love love LOVE trans izzy. he is everything to meeeee. but yes! the historical portrayal is important to me too in all of this, im particularly fond of fics where Izzy being trans is acknowledged as part of the plot, not just a thing he is.

i think being trans works for izzy because of his social position (being a pirate & criminal, its easy to shake off a past identity) & we historically know people could disguise their sex on ships! fics sometimes lose me with HRT & top surgery- im personally probably a no top surgery trans izzy truther- i dont see him as willing to risk the downtime for the recovery of an 'unnecessary' surgery in their line of work (also it gives me some time to nerd out over stays as binders which is so interesting to me). the hormones too, i suppose my ideal set up is izzy who already has hormone imbalances, making 'natural' solutions more believable. (my biggest trans izzy turn off is modern hormone methods just, thrown into history. have some fun with it!!!!) socially, i love the potential of trans izzy as a bonding moment with the crew, jim in particular, but any revealing of a secret involves a layer of trust that inherently aligns him with the crew. (on that note, forced outings can be a very touchy subject, but i think they can be done well with izzy- old crews where his secret was known, bringing it up to the revenge expecting them to join in mocking him (after all, they already were) but the crew suddenly turns on them & rally around him, finally breaking conflict between them) just in general, i love the layers it can add to his character, a forced portrayal of masculinity as armour to keep his secret safe- he cant possibly be seen doing anything remotely feminine because it would be a betrayal of who he is.

on the other characters- i generally only have major thoughts on trans ed & stede in canon era (& jim, but obviously thats not HC) with ed, i think he ticks a lot of the same boxes as izzy for me, but i personally much prefer transfem ed! i think theres wonderful potential with her, with the opposite of izzy in the masculinity- Having spent so long portraying perfect masculinity as a front to hide the fact that maybe, maybe, she doesnt actually really want to be a man.

with stede, i do like trans stede buuuut i very rarely see it done in a way i actually like fhfjfbfdfs for trans stede to hit for me personally i need him to have basically just started transitioning as he joins the revenge. i need mary to be a man and have no idea stede felt this way (i think he'd be accepting a la the ed thing, but those two do NOT communicate well enough for stede to have mentioned it before) i think stede would have no idea about most things to do with this, especially not that there were other people out there like him (he def wouldnt know he gravitated to a queer crew) theres a lot of fun there in combination with trans izzy or ed, having him learn from both experienced pirates & experienced trans people. but yeah i dont think in the fics i read ive actually seen a trans stede fic that considers how to play the precanon era in a way that works for me and it just. takes me out of the moment
