Embrace Your Inner Goddess... really
The following are excerpts from my book "The Divine Me", a 2023 release that is available at Amazon.
[excerpt]From the chapter: The Goddess in Every Day
Saturday, let's cleanse
Burn candles of black; burn incense of mimosa, hemp, and comfrey; carry in your pockets or adorn your body with black onyx, Apache tears, and obsidian.
Let’s work on… making ourselves feel safe, in whatever capacity this entails; taking extra precautions to secure our home; laying a line of defense against unexpected negativity; drawing boundaries that may be difficult but necessary to our wellbeing.
Kali ~ Hindu
Kali is the banshee screeching warrior goddess, the goddess of death and doom. The black goddess of revenge and bloodlust. But you gotta’ love her. It’s her energy that will fight to protect the innocent; it’s her energy that’s needed for retribution and accountability for the bad guys.
As the myth goes, Kali was born when she emerged from the forehead of the Goddess Durga and is believed to be the manifestation of that goddess’s anger. No wonder Kali has an attitude.
The most notable story I found on Kali involved her husband, Lord Shiva. After Kali was called upon to save the world by going on a rampage against a demon army led by Raktabija, she had herself so wrapped in murderous energy that she couldn’t stop herself and began destroying any living thing within her reach.
To cease this frenzied murder spree, her husband Shiva laid down in her path, blocking her way. Apparently, he thought that this would stop her. Silly idea. She was blinded to rationality and restraint, and she wildly started stomping the sh… er, bejeebers out of her own husband.
Oops.
Upon suddenly realizing her terrible mistake, overcome with remorse, laced with a wee bit of embarrassment, it’s said that she stuck out her bloody tongue. In some versions, it’s stated that she pulled her tongue out, either way, it makes for quite a visual.
[excerpt]
From the chapter: Facing the Mirror ~ How Do You Connect with Yourself
Be aware of your energy
Yes, learn to do this. It could save your life.
I was at a stop light in Fremont, Nebraska, southbound on Broad St. I was driving, my now ex-husband was sitting in the passenger seat. All of the sudden, yep, there it was, that “change” in energy. It’s so hard to describe because it can be so subtle. My reaction to it was that I froze. The red light turned green, and still, I sat there, frozen. My ex was shouting at me now, “Move, go!! The light is green!”
Nope, my body wouldn’t budge.
Within seconds, a car went speeding through a red light in front of us, west bound on 23rd St., at 60 or 70 miles an hour. If I would’ve been making my left hand turn onto this street, it would have broadsided us.
After this vehicle whooshed through this intersection, yep, there it was again, that weird change in energy. I was no longer frozen. I was also miffed at the man in the passenger seat and his attitude, so I turned to him calmly as he sat there now in shocked silence, open-mouthed, and I said, “Okay, now it’s time to move.”

How to be the prettiest woman you've been in years:
♡ Invest in your dental hygiene. Brush your teeth, it may sound simple, but it's one of those things people tend to neglect when they're not feeling their best.
♡ Encourage yourself using positive affirmations hourly, if not hourly at least daily. Remind yourself that your value doesn't rest in anyone else's perception of you.
♡ Clear out items that lure you into negative or unhealthy habits. Do you wish to break a bad habit with items that entice you lingering around? It's extremely difficult to do. So, toss those things out, your future self won't need them.
♡ Read. Read something worth writing about. Read something you feel like sharing with those you love. Read something that helps you gain insight. It doesn't take much effort to get a library card, and so checking out books instead of buying them may save you some money!
♡ Create something using your hands. Are you into clay? Maybe clay feels too messy for you, have you tried creating using yarn? Not a fan of yarn? You can always look into creating with wooden sticks. There's always something to make and I wouldn't doubt you'll find some peace in a quiet craft.
♡ Clear your playlists of songs that have negative messages or lyrics that don't support the growth you're aiming for. I found a large portion of music I used to listen to had lyrics filled with notes of self-loathing, which is the complete opposite of what I needed to grow.
♡ Hear your friends out. Check your calendar, create a night in which you have a heart-to-heart with your friends. It doesn't have to be sappy or overwhelming. It doesn't even have to be in-person. If you and your friends are all tied up, or just unable to gather in person, you could always schedule a video chat in which you discuss what you all appreciate about one another.
♡ Sort your bedding. If you're like me, a well-organized bedroom brings you comfort. Declutter your bed. Minimize the unnecessary items on your bed. If you've got a pile of clothing resting on your bed, sort it out. If you feel you've got one too many pillows, figure out how many you truly need.
♡ Get rid of jewelry clutter. I used to have a ton of tangled necklace chains and it would bring me down every time I looked at it. It got to a point of me trying to untangle them and forgetting all of the hacks I saw online about how to successfully unknot the chains. If the necklaces matter to you, be sure to find some online tips on how to unknot them, if the necklaces mean nothing, get rid of them. If you have a ton of rings that you no longer fit, chances are you don't wear them. Figure out what to do with those bits of jewelry you just don't have need for anymore.
♡ Examine your hydration needs. How do you prefer to drink water? I prefer warmer water, but some people enjoy water when it's frosty. However you like your water, figure out how much you genuinely drinking throughout the day. Are there ways to make drinking water more interesting for you? I enjoy placing sliced cucumber into my water, sometimes I'll use cucumber slices and lemons. Whatever works for you, go with that.
♡ Find a dance workout to engage in! I use the Zumba app and YouTube to do dance workouts in the morning and evening. If you're looking to move your body more this year, it's a fun way to do so.
♡ Examine the adjectives you use. I find myself searching for new ways to describe things I enjoy often. Download a vocabulary app, follow the Merriam-Webster dictionary on social media platforms if you feel it'll help. Genuinely, it's fun learning and you can learn just about anywhere now.

Rediscovering Fiction: My Journey Back to Reading with The Mother-in-Law by Sally Hepworth
For years (since college), I’ve found it difficult to read for entertainment. It’s not that I don’t enjoy stories, but college has a way of turning reading into a task rather than a joy. Between textbooks, assignments, and endless hours of required reading, the idea of picking up a novel for fun felt more like a chore than a break. Over time, my love for fiction faded, and self-help books became…
