Finrod vs. Sauron! Collab with @s-u-w-i that took six months to finish :D Once again I wanted to do some weird composition for this scene. So I googled pictures taken from inside of animal mouths(bleh), to make gruesome Sauron ....and then Suwi made the final sketch since she can draw the cutest characters (and Finrod needs to be cute ♥)
“I go now to my long rest in the timeless halls beyond the seas and the Mountains of Aman. It will be long ere I am seen among the Noldor again; and it may be that we shall not meet a second time in death or life, for the fates of our kindreds are apart. Farewell!' He died then in the dark, in Tol-in-Gaurhoth, whose great tower he himself had built.
But sometimes the lights shine just as brightly reflected in the water
as they do in the sky. It's hard to say which way is up and which way is down. How am I to know which lights to follow? But that seems so simple. The most important truths often are. But you must learn to discern them for yourself.

Like, when do you think Sauron found out this elf that died in his dungeons was Finrod? None of Finrod's company ever gave up his identity, so he definitely had no idea at first. After Beren and Luthien succeded, his death would become common knowledge among the elves since there's no way Beren would keep his glorious sacrifice secret, but I'm not sure if these news ever reached Angband, I mean, it's not like Morgoth could sent his orcs to disguise themselves as elves and spy on them, so they probably didn't know a lot of what was talked about in elves cities, especially since it kind of wasn't important for the war anyway.
So imagen how hilarious it would be if Sauron never hears of this through the entire first age and then one day in Eregion Tyelpe is being all sad, so Annatar acts all sympathic and concerned which he only does because he needs Celebrimbor to trust him, of course he doesn't care how he feels and he especially isn't concerned and Celebrimbor is just like "uncle Finrod died today" and Annatar's like "yeah, that makes sense, by the way how did he die I think I never heard the specifics" and Celebrimbor just says "he got killed by Sauron after sacrificing himself for Beren, how did you never hear about this" and Annatar's just like "he WHAT!?"
It was @s-u-w-i's birthday last day, and she wanted "Middle-earth-themed metal t-shirt".
I tried to paint the Blind Guardian cover on a t-shirt...but I have no skills for that :D
So here goes a very stylized version of Finrod vs. Werewolf (pose based on me wrestling with my dog over disgusting things found in the forest) ♥
Celebrimbor who cared for Finrod deeply couldn’t help but see glimpses of Finrod in Annatar , in how he looks and how he acts sometimes.
Celebrimbor glimpsed in Annatar's form echoes of Finrod, the noble and beloved friend lost. The way Annatar moved, spoke, it all bore a resemblance to Finrod.
Sauron knew this, weaving his deceitful web. For he had watched how Finrod comforted his companions in the dark dungeons of Tol in Gaurhoth
So it was that Annatar's guise became a cruel mirror, reflecting back the memory of a cherished friend lost but never forgotten. And in that twisted reflection, Celebrimbor found himself drawn ever closer, his trust and loyalty given to the very source of this cruelty.
Hi all! Announcing a new Tolkien fandom event: Lúthien Week, taking place October 14 – 20, 2024 on this blog! This event is dedicated to the characters of the Beren and Lúthien story, from the star-crossed protagonists to faithful allies to villains... And everyone in between!
Why October? It captures the mood of the story. In all its spookiness, October is the perfect month for Lúthien Week, as the tale features vampires, werewolves, talking dogs, and even talking cats (yes, I mean Tevildo). At the same time, October is cozy, and Beren and Lúthien is ultimately a comforting story to read while curled up in a blanket with a warm cup of tea.
Follow this blog to stay tuned for more info about Lúthien Week! Prompts to come soon. If you have questions, send an ask! 💜
it's so funny how the people who constantly whine about the creative choices in a story are often out of touch with the said story.
bc why bring up celeborn in a conversation about galadriel x sauron and why they shouldn't be together when finrod is right there and the actual conflict in galadriel's storyline is that she has feelings for the man who killed her beloved brother?
like, why was galadriel obsessed with killing sauron? whom was she avenging? FINROD! she never brought up celeborn when talking about her destiny to kill sauron. it was always about finrod!
during their fights, finrod's dagger is always either brought up (the fireplace scene) or between the two (the finale raft scene).
the actual and the only third between galadriel and sauron is finrod!
s1 begins with finrod warning galadriel about the temptations of the darkness, in s1 finale sauron takes on finrod's form to persuade her to be on his side, even in s2 we see galadriel thinking about finrod and then having sauron call her in her mind!
these two are the most important individuals in galadriel's life!
it is about galadriel's love for her brother vs. her feelings for halbrand.
