The Importance of Regular Eye Exams
Your eyes are the windows to your soul, and they also provide a window into your overall health. Regular eye exams are essential for several reasons:
1. Vision Correction
Phoenix eye exam services include thorough vision tests to identify and correct refractive errors like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. These exams help you see the world clearly again.
2. Early Disease Detection
Many eye diseases, such as glaucoma and cataracts, develop without noticeable symptoms in their early stages. Regular eye exams can detect these conditions early, allowing for timely treatment and preserving your vision.
3. Health Insights
Your eyes can reveal underlying health issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and even certain cancers. Eye doctors in Phoenix are skilled at recognizing these signs during routine exams.
Finding the Best Eye Doctor in Phoenix
When it comes to your eye health, choosing the right eye doctor is crucial. Here are some factors to consider when searching for the best eye doctor in Phoenix:
1. Qualifications and Experience
Look for an experienced Phoenix optometrist or ophthalmologist with the necessary qualifications and a strong track record of providing quality eye care.
2. Services Offered
Ensure that the eye doctor offers the services you require, whether it's a comprehensive eye exam, pediatric eye exam, contact lens exam, or specialized care.
3. Reviews and Recommendations
Check online reviews and ask for recommendations from friends and family to gauge the reputation of the eye doctor you're considering.
4. Accessibility and Convenience
Consider the location and office hours of the eye clinic. A conveniently located clinic with flexible hours can make scheduling appointments easier.
Types of Eye Exams Available in Phoenix
Phoenix offers a wide range of eye exams to cater to different needs:
Comprehensive Eye Exam
A comprehensive eye exam in Phoenix includes a series of tests to evaluate your vision and eye health. It is recommended for individuals of all ages as it provides a thorough assessment of your eyes.
Pediatric Eye Exam
Pediatric eye exams are designed for children and focus on detecting and treating vision issues early in life. These exams are essential for ensuring your child's visual development.
Contact Lens Exam
If you wear or are considering contact lenses, a contact lens exam is necessary. This exam measures your eye's curvature and determines the right type of lenses for you.
Glaucoma Test
Glaucoma is a serious eye condition that can lead to blindness if left untreated. Regular glaucoma tests are essential, especially if you have a family history of the disease.
Cataract Screening
Cataracts are common among seniors. Regular cataract screenings help in the early detection of this condition, allowing for timely surgical intervention.
Retina Specialist
A retina specialist in Phoenix is an expert in diagnosing and treating conditions that affect the retina. If you have retina-related issues, consult a specialist for the best care.

Bound By A Feather

Pairings: R.L x Guardian Angel! Reader Tags: Forbidden Love // hurt-comfort // fantasy // tragic // angst // emotional // slow burn Summary: A lonely man finds comfort in an unexplainable connection, where love crosses the line between the real world and something beyond. W/C: 3.1k A/N: hey! so this hurt to write! fuck! [masterlist] Much love, Saige
The first time Remus saw you, he was fourteen.
It was the night before a full moon, and he couldn’t sleep. His body ached, the dull pain in his joints warning of the transformation creeping closer. James and Sirius were already fast asleep, their steady breathing filling the dormitory, while Peter’s snores rattled through the quiet.
And then—
"Rest, Remus."
A whisper. A presence. Warm and close.
Remus flinched, sitting up so fast his head spun. His wand was in his hand before he could think, heart hammering against his ribs.
But no one was there.
Just the dim outline of the room, the golden glow of dying embers in the fireplace. Shadows stretched across the walls, shifting slightly with the flickering light.
He swallowed. “Who’s there?” he murmured.
Silence.
And then, a sensation—a warmth, barely a touch, ghosting across his forehead.
A shiver ran down his spine, but it wasn’t fear.
By the time he reached out, the presence was gone.
The next morning, he told no one.
He convinced himself it was exhaustion, a trick of the mind. But deep down, something inside him whispered that it was real.
______
It happened again.
Always at night, when the world was quiet and his mind was fraying at the edges.
"You need to take care of yourself," you murmured after a particularly rough full moon, when his body was battered, covered in fresh wounds.
He should’ve been terrified. But there was something about you—the warmth in your voice, the way you never felt like an intrusion, just… comfort.
"You sound like Madam Pomfrey," he whispered, lips twitching slightly despite the pain.
A soft laugh. "Well, she’s right, you know."
The mattress dipped slightly beside him, though he saw nothing. A hand—unseen but undeniably real—pressed lightly to his shoulder, keeping him grounded.
He exhaled, closing his eyes.
For the first time in weeks, sleep came easily.
______
By fifth year, he had given up on explaining you to the others.
James and Sirius teased him about his tendency to stay up late, assuming he was just too absorbed in a book to sleep. Peter never questioned it.
But they never saw you. No one did.
No matter how many times he tried to catch you in the light of day, you never came.
You were his secret. His ghost. His angel.
—---
One night, after a grueling week of exams and an exhausting full moon, Remus sat on the windowsill of the dormitory, parchment in his lap.
His fingers hovered over the page before he finally pressed quill to parchment.
I don’t know what you are. I don’t even know if you’re real. But you make me feel less alone.
He left the note on his bedside table and fell asleep, not expecting anything.
But when he woke up—
It was gone.
His heart stopped.
He tore through the sheets, the blankets, checked under the bed—nothing.
And then, as he sat back, pulse racing, he noticed something new.
A single feather, soft and pale, resting where the parchment had been.
He touched it with shaking fingers.
His angel had answered.
______
After that, he wrote often.
Do you have a name? he scribbled one night, tucking the note beneath his pillow before he fell asleep.
In the morning, a reply was written on the same parchment in delicate script.
Would it change anything if I did?
Remus swallowed hard, tracing the ink with his fingertips.
No, it wouldn’t.
He was already in too deep.
______
Sixth year brought war.
Whispers of Voldemort filled the halls, and Dumbledore grew more solemn by the day. James, Sirius, and Peter were restless, talking in hushed voices about the Order of the Phoenix, about what would happen when they left school.
Remus felt it closing in—the inevitable.
He wrote to you more.
Do you think we’ll make it out of this?
The note vanished overnight, and in the morning, your reply was scrawled beneath his words.
You will.
You have to.
That night, as he lay in bed staring at the ceiling, he whispered, "And you?"
No answer came.
But he felt the faintest brush of warmth against his cheek.
______
Seventh year, he finally saw you.
Not just a voice, not just a whisper in the dark.
You.
It was late. The fire in the Gryffindor common room had burned down to embers, and his friends had long since gone to bed. He sat curled up on the couch, exhaustion settling deep in his bones, when the air changed.
A shimmer. A shift.
And then—
You.
Soft light surrounded you, nothing blinding, nothing sharp—just warmth. Your features were delicate, eyes full of something ancient and knowing.
He forgot how to breathe.
"You're real," he murmured, voice barely above a whisper.
A small smile tugged at your lips. "You always knew that."
He shook his head, dazed. "No one else has ever seen you. No one believes me."
A pause. And then, gently—"Because I’m only for you."
His heart clenched.
"Why me?"
You tilted your head, as if searching for the right words. "Because you needed me."
Remus swallowed, his throat tight. "And what happens when I don’t need you anymore?"
Something flickered across your face—something sad, something knowing.
"Then I’ll go."
The thought sent a pang of panic through him.
He didn’t want you to go.
Ever.
______
But Remus wasn’t foolish.
He knew this wasn’t normal.
He knew no one else would understand.
And he knew, no matter how hard he tried, he was falling in love with something only he could see.
But love wasn’t rational.
Love wasn’t easy.
And for as long as you stayed, he would let himself have this—this one, impossible thing.
Because for all the horrors of the world, all the scars on his skin, all the pain he endured—
At least he had you.
Even if you were only his.
Even if no one else believed.
______
It had been weeks since the last time Remus had seen you, but he had never felt so sure of anything in his life. Every moment without you felt like a lifetime, and every time you appeared, it was as though the world suddenly made sense again.
But tonight… tonight, he wasn’t sure anymore.
The fire crackled in the common room, casting long shadows that danced across the walls. Remus sat alone on one of the couches, the usual bustle of the Gryffindor Tower eerily quiet. James and Sirius had gone to the Quidditch pitch to practice, and Peter was somewhere, probably lost in a book in the library. Remus had told them he needed to rest, to study.
But the truth was, he hadn’t been able to concentrate on anything. The war loomed over him. The pain of transformation gnawed at him. And his thoughts always returned to you.
His heart clenched as he thought about it. His feelings for you had grown deeper with each passing day. He had never been one to fall easily, but you weren’t just anyone. You were… you were everything to him.
And yet, a part of him was terrified. Terrified of how much he needed you. Terrified of what it would mean if he told you the truth.
He stared into the flames, barely noticing the time pass, until a familiar warmth washed over him—the same warmth he’d come to know all too well.
“Remus.”
He didn’t need to look up to know it was you. He could feel you—your presence, soft and undeniable. A part of him wanted to reach out, to pull you closer, but he stayed rooted, his eyes fixed on the fire.
"You’re quiet tonight," you said, sitting down beside him, your voice gentle as ever.
“I’ve been thinking,” Remus confessed, his voice low. He hesitated for a moment, glancing at you from the corner of his eye. “I think I’ve fallen in love with you.”
The words came out so easily, more natural than he had expected. His heart pounded in his chest, but he couldn’t bring himself to look at you, afraid of what your expression might reveal.
There was a pause.
You didn’t respond right away. Remus held his breath, the silence stretching between you like a thin thread, fragile and taut.
Finally, you spoke, but your voice was tinged with something he couldn’t quite place. It wasn’t rejection, not exactly. It was uncertainty.
“Remus… I—” You stopped yourself, as though trying to find the right words. “I care for you. I do.”
But your hesitation gnawed at him.
“Then why…?” His voice cracked slightly, the vulnerability seeping in. He turned to face you now, unable to hide the hurt in his eyes. “Why don’t you feel the same? I know you’re not like me—I know you’re not human, but… can’t you feel it, too?”
You sighed, a sound so soft, it almost seemed like a whisper on the wind. Your gaze flickered down, and Remus noticed the faintest trace of sorrow in your eyes.
“I can feel it, Remus. I feel it every time I’m with you. But—” You paused, struggling with something unspoken, something you weren’t sure you could put into words. “I’m not sure it’s right. I’m not sure I am right for you.”
A sinking feeling hit the pit of Remus’ stomach. “What do you mean?”
“Because I’m not like you,” you whispered, your voice full of sadness. “I’m not bound by the same things you are. I can’t share in your world in the way you deserve. You need someone who can stand by your side through everything. Someone who can touch you, hold you… someone who can be there in the way you need.”
Remus’ chest tightened. His mind raced as he tried to comprehend what you were saying. “But I don’t need anyone else,” he murmured, almost desperately. “I just need you.”
“But I can’t give you everything you need, Remus,” you whispered back, your words like a gentle breeze that still left a sting. “I can’t be the person you deserve. I’ll always be here, in this place between reality and dreams. But you—you need something more. Something real.”
His heart shattered at the finality in your tone. You were so close, and yet, he couldn’t touch you. Couldn’t keep you.
“I’m not asking for perfection,” Remus said, his voice trembling. “I don’t care about the world outside of this moment. I don’t care about what anyone else thinks. I just… I just need you to stay. You’re the only thing that makes sense anymore.”
The sadness in your eyes deepened, and you reached out, brushing your fingers against his cheek. Your touch was warm, gentle, but there was an ache in it that made his heart hurt.
“I wish I could, Remus. I wish I could be everything you need.”
You pulled your hand back slowly, the space between you growing once more, an invisible divide that neither of you could bridge.
For the first time in a long time, Remus felt the weight of something heavy settle in his chest. His breath caught, but he didn’t know how to express the emptiness that was suddenly consuming him.
“I don’t care about being whole,” he whispered, his words barely audible. “I just want to be with you. Even if it’s only for a moment. Even if you’re only real to me.”
There was a long silence as you processed his words, your gaze steady but sorrowful. Finally, you spoke, your voice barely a breath.
“I can’t promise that, Remus. Not yet.”
Remus felt the words pierce through him like shards of glass, sharp and jagged. He swallowed, his throat dry, his heart aching. “I don’t know what to do with that,” he murmured.
“Just let me stay here, with you,” you said softly, your voice full of tenderness. “We don’t have to have all the answers, not now.”
Remus nodded slowly, feeling the weight of everything between them—the love, the uncertainty, the inevitability of what was to come. He couldn’t stop his feelings, no matter how hard he tried. But now, more than ever, he understood the fragility of it all.
He reached out, though he didn’t expect to touch you. But his fingers grazed the space where you stood, and for a moment, he felt something—something warm, something close.
He closed his eyes, breathing in deeply. “I just need you to know… I’m not afraid to love you. Even if you can’t love me back.”
You didn’t answer, but you didn’t leave either.
The days that followed were filled with a quiet desperation. Remus walked through each moment, surrounded by the weight of his feelings for you, knowing that you were the only one who could see him in a way no one else could. But with every passing second, that invisible barrier between you grew harder to ignore.
He couldn’t get you out of his mind.
Every day, he felt you more keenly—your presence in the corners of his thoughts, the gentle whisper of your voice when he was alone. But still, despite all the signs that you were real, he could never touch you. You could never truly be with him.
The war was coming, and Remus knew that something had to change. He couldn’t keep living in this limbo, not knowing where he stood with you. The uncertainty was consuming him, gnawing at his very soul.
Tonight, however, felt different. He had spent the day in a daze, unable to concentrate on anything. The weight of his secret, of his love for you, was too much to bear. As the night fell and the rest of the Marauders went to bed, Remus found himself standing alone in the common room once more, staring at the empty fireplace.
“I can’t keep doing this,” he murmured to himself, though he wasn’t sure if he was speaking to the room or to you. “I can’t keep pretending like nothing’s wrong.”
The words echoed in the silence, and for the first time in what felt like an eternity, he allowed himself to feel the full force of his longing for you.
“I need you,” he whispered into the stillness, his voice barely audible. “Please… I need you more than anything.”
As if summoned by the words, a warm presence filled the room, enveloping him like a soft, comforting embrace. He closed his eyes, letting the warmth wash over him, and when he opened them again, you were standing before him—closer than ever before.
Your eyes met his, and this time, there was no hesitation in your gaze. No uncertainty. Just pure, undeniable affection.
“Remus,” you whispered, your voice full of something he couldn’t quite name. “I’m here.”
He took a step forward, his heart racing, but his feet remained frozen in place. “I don’t know how much longer I can live like this. I don’t know how much longer I can keep pretending I don’t need you—pretending that being with you isn’t the only thing that makes sense anymore.”
The words tumbled out, raw and unfiltered. He didn’t care if he sounded desperate. He didn’t care if you couldn’t understand. All he knew was that he couldn’t bear the weight of his silence anymore.
You stepped closer, your presence overwhelming in the most beautiful way. “You’re not alone, Remus,” you said softly, reaching for his hand. He instinctively pulled back, but you closed the space between you, your fingers gently brushing against his.
Your touch was electric, and for the first time, he could feel the warmth of your skin against his. It wasn’t just a ghostly sensation—it was real. It was you.
“Please,” he whispered, his voice breaking. “Don’t leave me.”
You looked at him with a tenderness that made his chest ache. “I’m not leaving you,” you said, your voice barely more than a breath. “But there are things we can’t change. I can’t live in your world the way you want me to.”
“I don’t care about the world,” Remus said, his voice fierce. “I just want you. I want you, here, with me.”
The words hung in the air, heavy and final. But still, there was a sense of uncertainty in your eyes, a flicker of doubt that refused to fade. Remus’ heart thudded painfully in his chest, and he could feel his own hope slipping away.
But then something shifted. There was a spark—an undeniable shift in the air—and you took another step closer. The distance between you vanished, and this time, when your fingers touched, it was as if everything fell into place.
A wave of warmth, a pull in his chest, and then suddenly, you were there, completely tangible. He could feel you. He could see you. You were as real as the world around him.
“Remus,” you said softly, your voice trembling with emotion. “I can’t stay forever in the way you want. I can’t change who I am. But I can be with you. Just not the way you expect. Not forever.”
“I don’t care,” he breathed, his hand gently cupping your cheek. “Just… don’t leave. Not now.”
A soft smile crossed your face, and in that moment, Remus felt something shift within him, something deep and profound. “I won’t leave,” you whispered, your lips brushing against his. It was the gentlest of kisses, barely more than a touch, but it felt like a lifetime. A promise.
The air seemed to still around them. Remus’ heart was racing, but for the first time, he felt complete. In that moment, everything was right. You, the angel who had been nothing more than a distant dream, were finally real in a way he could touch, hold, love.
“I’m not human,” you whispered against his lips, as if that somehow needed to be said. “But I’m with you now. I will always be here, even when you can’t see me.”
Remus closed his eyes, his forehead resting gently against yours. “I don’t care about what you are. I just know I love you. And I always will.”
There was no more uncertainty. No more fear. Just the quiet certainty that in this moment, in this space between the living and the ethereal, they were together.
And for the first time, it felt enough.
You stepped back slowly, but before you vanished again into the ether, you looked at him one last time, your eyes full of affection. “I will always be with you, Remus. Even if you can’t see me. I will always be the part of you that’s whole.”
With that, you disappeared—leaving behind a single, soft feather, resting delicately on the floor.
Remus stood there, the warm feeling of your presence lingering, and he finally knew what he had to do. There would be more struggles ahead. The war would come. He would face his fears, his demons, his curse. But no matter where life took him, he would carry you in his heart, always.
He bent down and picked up the feather, holding it close, a smile tugging at his lips. He was no longer alone. And that, he realized, was enough.

Theft in the Family...By Jason Todd Chapter 3
This chapter is a bit shorter, Exams are stressing me out xD
I have Chapter 4 done, it'll be posted once I finish chapter 5
The last week had calmed down some for Jason. He was slowly gaining control of the other gangs in Crime Alley, so now his job is mainly enforcing his rules and continuing his climb up the metaphorical food chain.
Currently he was on a rooftop overlooking the usual corner the working girls frequent.
He feels his half cape/cloak thing (Jason still doesn’t know what to call it, ok) waving gently in the breeze. It felt nice to have a moment of downtime, even if it was in the middle of the day.
Just as he was getting used to the (very rare) almost peaceful atmosphere, a child’s yelling cuts through the air.
Jason rushes off in the general direction of the sound.
He arrives just in time to see a large man slamming a kid against the wall, one hand wrapped around the kid’s throat.
Jason growls, jumping into the alley. He rips the man away, pushing himself in between the kid and his aggressor. “Leave. Him. Alone.” He draws one of the swords on his back, leveling it at the man’s chest.
Instead of scrambling back, the man stares at the sword and chuckles, pushing it away and drawing a gun. “The kid’s comin’ with me.”
“Yeah, nope. Not happenin’, jackass.” Jason draws his own gun with his other hand, this time aimed at the guy’s head. “Don’t think I only brought a sword to a gunfight. Besides, I guarantee you, I’m faster.”
Jason spares a glance behind him, and his heart nearly stops as the kid sits against the alley wall with a dazed look.
Fuck
That’s Damian.
Alright, fuck mercy. This guy is dead.
He uses the flat edge of the sword to knock the man’s gun hand wide, closing the distance between them. He uses his body to pin the man to the wall, and sheathes both weapons.
With his hands free, he wraps one around the guy’s throat (we’re gonna call him Chad now), and the other wrenches the gun from Chad’s grasp. “See? I’m faster.” Jason almost chuckles, before his tone turns dark again. “Do you know who I am?”
Chad barely manages to nod, and gasps: “Phoenix.”
“Good. Do you know what my main rule is?” Jason doesn’t even give him a chance to answer this time. “Do /not/, under /any/ circumstance, mess with kids.”
The man looks truly scared for the first time in this interaction. “I—I’m sorry! I didn’t know he was yours! He’s a Bristol kid, look at ‘em!”
“/All/ kids are under my protection. But you won’t get to make the same mistake twice.” Jason draws his gun again, aiming not at his head, but his groin. A cruel smile splits his face, not like the man can see that though.
The man whimpers, and Jason glances back at Damian again. The kid is still dazed, but he was standing and watching the scene play out.
“Get outta here, kid, I’ll catch up and make sure ya get home safe in a sec.”
Damian seemed to struggle to understand the instruction, but when he did, he stood firm. “No.”
“Kid—”
“No.” Damian scowls at him. Jason rolls his eyes, but mentally shrugs. The kid was raised by Ra’s Al Ghul, he’s seen worse.
With that, he turns his attention back to the weeping man in front of him. He debates saying something else, but decides against it. No need to draw this out any longer.
He takes a step back, and fires. The man screams, collapsing to the ground in a crumpled heap.
Jason holsters the gun (he’ll finish the man off in a second) and steps over to Damian. Kneeling down, he reaches out a hand and runs it through Damian’s hair, searching for injuries. “Y’alright, Habibi?”
“I have had worse.”
“I know, kid, but my question stands.” His glove comes away bloody when he reaches the back of the kid’s head, and Damian flinches slightly. “Alrigh’, I’ll take you home and clean you up, but you’re telling Bruce. Where even is the Old Man anyway?”
“I presume he is back at the diner, where I left him.”
Jason rolls his eyes, picking Damian up and settling him on his hip. “‘Course ya ran away. Now I’m gonna have Bats after me.”
A bark sounding through the alley snaps Jason’s attention away from his brother, and he sees Bruce and Ace running into the alley.
“God dammit, speak of the devil.” Jason mutters, eyeing the duo warily.
“Give me my son.” Bruce speaks lowly, clearly eyeing the distance between them.
Jason scoffs, “You lost him. I found him.”
The man on the ground groans, and Jason is reminded of his unfinished business. Without taking his eyes off Bruce, he fires another bullet into Chad’s skull. Bruce flinches at the gunshot.
“Give him back, before I call the cops.”
Ace growls, stalking forward. Bruce drops the leash, and the dog lunges forward.
Jason turns, making sure his body is between the snapping teeth and his brother.
Just before biting, Ace stops, his nose twitching as he sniffs the air, and his tail waves in the air. The growls turn to whines as he noses at Jason's leg. Something in Jason melts a little at the sight of his childhood dog.
“Ace!” Bruce calls, but the dog ignores him in favor of Jason.
“I think you have broken the dog,” Damian comments, and Jason pets Ace before pulling out his grapple gun.
He fires the grapple, watching Bruce’s eyes widen as he feels the familiar tug of the line hooking. Bruce lunges for him just as the gun pulls him into the air. In the short trip in the air, Bruce has pulled out his phone and is frantically talking to whoever he called.
In the same moment, Damian wraps his arms around Jason’s neck, and Jason remembers that this would be his first experience with grappling. With flying.
Jason smiles at his brother when they land on the roof, before realizing he wouldn’t be able to see it.
Jason grapples back to his apartment without saying another word.
When they enter (through the window, of course, no doors allowed), Jason sets Damian down and starts taking his gear off.
The hood and cape are first to go, followed by his masks and gauntlets. When he turns back to Damian, the kid is pouting at him.
“The hell are you pouting for, I thought ya wanted to see me?” Jason grabs the med kit from under his sink and walks over to his brother.
“I thought you would come back with me.”
Jason sighs, “We discussed this, Habibi. I can’t go back. Besides, Bruce doesn’t even know it’s me who has you. There’s gonna be a fuckin’ manhunt now.”
“He took your book,” Damian’s pouty face somehow… gets more pouty..?
“The one I gave to you?” Jason had to suppress a chuckle, but goes about cleaning the cut on Damian’s head.
“Yes.”
“What’d ya do to get him to take that from ya? He never took my books.’
“I may…or may not…have attempted to stab Drake.”
Jason scowls at him, “What did we talk about, Damian?”
“You said not to kill or maim anyone! It was just supposed to be a light stabbing…” The kid is sulking now. It’s almost cute, if Jason weren’t a little pissed at him.
His phone ringing cuts off any reply he may have had. He fishes it out of his pocket, answering it and setting it to his ear before going back to cleaning the cut on Damian’s head. “‘Sup?”
There’s silence on the other end of the line, before a faint voice comes through. “...Master Jason?”
Jason almost drops the phone in shock, and it takes him a second to remember how to use his voice. When he does speak, he’s choked up. “Hey, Alfie.”
Alfred takes a shuddering inhale before continuing. “It is good to hear your voice again, my boy. Although I do have a rather urgent reason for calling. We seem to be missing the child you delivered to us three weeks ago.”
Jason raises an eyebrow at the kid in front of him, finally putting down the gauze and medical supplies. “Are you now?”
“Yes. You wouldn’t happen to know where he is, would you?”
“Nope, not a clue. You should probably keep better track of your birds.”
Alfred sighed, seeming to realize the bluff. “Shall I inform Master Bruce that he is taken care of?”
Jason chuckles before answering. “Nah, let him panic. It’ll do him some good. Besides, finders keepers. Kid’s mine now.”
Jason can hear a hint of a smile when Alfred speaks next. “Hm. Well, try to have him back at the Manor for Sunday crepes. You are welcome to join as well.” It’s Thursday. That gives him four days with his baby brother.
And four days to make Bruce panic, which is always a plus.
He will have to move safehouses though, he wasn’t exactly watching out for cameras on his way here.
“Will do, Alfie. I’ll drop him off Sunday morning.”
They exchange goodbyes, then Jason drops the phone on the couch.
“Wanna explain why ya ran away?”
“I wanted to see you, Akhi. I had not heard from you since you dropped me off.”
Jason sighs, sitting down and pulling Damian closer to him. “You could have asked Alfred to contact me, kid. It’s not safe for you to run around Gotham on your own.”
“I can protect myself!”
“Like you did today?”
Damian scowls, “It is not my fault he caught me off guard.”
“Dames, no matter how highly trained you are, the people here will still win the fight when they are two to four times your size. You have to stay with an adult.”
Damian just huffs in response, and Jason gives the argument up. He’ll just have to keep a better eye out from now on.

More about Jaden growing up with Yugi and the DM crew
He doesn’t have favorites in his family but he has different relationships with each of them.
Yugi
is his Dad and his hero.
The king of game!
The one who saved him from the orphanage.
He’s also super kind and teaches Jaden how to take care of himself and his friends.
Seto
is his Oto-san.
He’s more strict, way more strict than Dad. But he obviously cares for Jaden.
He’s so protective and isn’t great at showing his emotions.
But he loves hard and deep. He’d rip the moon from the sky if Jaden, Yugi, or Mokuba asked.
Jaden likes superhero’s? And he really loves the Elemental hero cards? But theirs only four of them, and they’re super weak? That won’t do. He reaches out to Pegasus about making more hero cards.
At first he tries to make them a private collection just for Jaden but Yugi finds out and scolds him. He can’t give Jaden his own archetype! (Especially when Jaden already made his own) so the cards are realeased to the public. But you best believe Seto got three copies of every Hero card for his son.
The Destiny hero’s infuriate him. “How come that kid (Aster Phoenix) gets his own private set of hero’s but our son can’t, Yugi?”
In actually he feels a lot of guilt over sending Jaden’s cards to space. Jaden doesn’t remember, but they found the records of it. Seto sent Jaden’s soul monster and defender (neo spacians and Yubel) to space and has been trying to get them back ever since. Until he can get his son’s cards back to him the least he can do is make sure Jaden has cards he can trust. (His idea, not Jaden’s or Yugi’s)
He couldn’t imagine someone sending his blue eyes away from him forever. He has the records of Jaden’s powers lashing out after they took Yubel from him. (He needs to get those cards back for his son)
Atem
Atem adores Jaden. And Jaden adores his uncle Atem.
Atem has always dotted on Jaden. He’s truly grateful for this second chance at life and the opportunity to be part of Yugi’s family.
He’s also very protective of Yugi and his son. Yugi and their friends fought so hard for the world. They deserve to have a peaceful life now. And Atem will defend them the same way they defended and helped him.
Once they find out about Jaden’s powers and blocked memories, Atem becomes even more protective then he was before.
He feels a lot of camaraderie with Jaden. Not just the missing memories, but also the shadow powers. Though Jaden’s comes from the Gentle Darkness and Arems from his time wilding the millennium items.
Atem always shows Jaden little magic tricks and uses his powers to play with Jaden. Even being duel spirits to life. Jaden can’t see spirits until his entrance exam but he grew up with someone who could. So he doesn’t feel like he’s going crazy when he starts seeing and hearing spirits.
Atem wanted to try and unblock Jaden’s powers but Yugi had been worried. His boy was so young and what happens if his powers lash out again. He doesn’t want Jaden to blame himself if anyone gets hurt because he’s a little kid who had a tantrum. Atem agrees but still works with Jaden. His powers will unlock one day. It’s best he’s prepared and knows that he doesn’t have to fear himself. Yugi agrees, Atem would never go against Yugi’s will.
Joey
Don’t tell the others but… Joey is Jaden’s favorite uncle. (Mainly don’t tell Seto, Atem, or Mokuba)
Joey is so fun for Jaden. He’s silly and energetic and matches Jaden’s energy.
He duels Jaden and it’s so fun. Seto can’t bring himself to go easy on any one. Yugi and Atem go easy on him, but they won’t give him the game, he learns a lot from all three, but Joey? Joey’s crazy.
Joey will pick up booster packs and they will make random decks and duel. Just for fun. Just to learn. Just for fun. Yes your deck is your heart, but theirs a lot to learn from quickly cobbling together a deck.
When Jaden’s older, Joey is the first one to break out his real deck on him (well besides Seto, who knows no chill) when Jaden beats Joey’s real deck for the first time he’s so pumped, and so is Joey. His littlest buddy is an amazing duelist!
Joey is so laid back. He loves dueling and he’s serious about it. But he remembers it’s a game. It’s fun. Something Seto’s never been good at. Atem struggles with (trauma) Yugi knows but his deck is almost unbeatable. All three of them love the game for the strategy, Joey’s here for fun and chaos. Yes he’s strategic but he also chaotic and a risk taker.
Jaden takes after him in a lot of ways. Jaden love’s strategy to, he’s learned form the best. But at duel academy? If he was like either of his father’s his identical would be blown so fast. So it’s a good thing he takes after Joey. No one thinks the prince of games to be a laid back slacker. But he learned from the best, Joey. (If Seto ever heard that statement he’d set the city on fire.

Twst boys and their respective Vocaloid songs
Part 2 of this post!
Characters: All NRC students Warning: Some of these songs contain angsty/dark themes or imply self-harm, however it's nothing too much as that's the nature of Vocaloid songs in general and I recommend you checking them out if you guys can!
Part 1 | Part 2
🕌 Scarabia 🕌
Kalim: Tondemo-Wonderz
This song is full of fun, excitement and upbeat, colorful beats that make you want to smile and dance along, just like the ball of sunshine Kalim he is! The song talks about embracing the unknown and excitement the world offers to us while also having fun, encouraging us to have faith in the wondrous possibilities, while also embracing the failure and mistakes with laughter and positivity. I’d say it’s a perfect song for Kalim, from the vibe to the lyrics!
“Even in this sort of era, We still believe in "wonders," no, no, no? Know! The adult's sharp, money-making memories Make us worry too much! I'm gonna go cross-eyed!” "Why?!" "Do it like this!!" I love everything! That's fine, isn’t it? In this plot to make everyone laugh I can call them rival monsters, right?! We live in a wild, awesome world.” “I reckon it's fine to have troubles you can't do a thing about! I make a pose like I'm gonna save everyone. How about this smile, it's not gonna crumble at all! Even if I fall 100 times, I'm like a phoenix. I won't get upset! Wan wan, too quick, three four! Everybody, showtime!” “Come on professor! This exam is so tough! Agh! Alright, done? Is it final? If I don't get 0 points, it's OK! Let's rain a shower of arrows on those true and false questions! Right and wrong answers are important memories." "There are days when I fail too. You still deny "wonders", no, no, no? Know! Before I'm taken to pieces, listen, wait! This slanted society is too on edge. Charge in, leap in, one more time! Are you ready?!”
-----------------------------------
Jamil: Ghost City Tokyo
Like a ghost who is almost invisible to other’s eyes, Jamil used to do the same too, he always makes sure everything he does is at an average level so nobody will notice him. That’s why I picked this song for him, also because of the lyrics - he’s used to losing, to not be able to shine and stand out for the sake of others, and it’s not something he dreamt of at all. Also I think the city here can be interpreted as Scarabia too, because he still wants to be here despite everything that happened in Book 4.
“The lights of the brilliant shining city Shine down on me in stark contrast They mix with the neon colours changing and escaping from the spaces between those buildings" "I trade my time and this world And sink into the night” “It’s fine, someday it will all be fine How many days I’ve thought so, that have piled up on each other But even today, the me who fades into the Tokyo scenery all alone Seems like a ghost” “Even as I grow used to losing These important feelings that I haven't lost - When I held them close to myself, my tears fell suddenly Because I think I still want to Keep living in this city”
-----------------------------------
👑 Pomefiore 👑
Vil: Cinema
This song is pretty self-explanatory with the lyrics, it’s like someone views their life as a movie, their story is like an unchanged script, yet they’re being satisfied with everything - they want to be the leading star, the protagonist of the movie. Being someone who always has to play the villain role, I picked this song for Vil because it just fits him so much with his backstory and his goal as a whole!
“A delusion of dawn Invaluable escapades and A misunderstood hero play-pretend Traffic's already jammed up now- Oh well, nothing I can do about that anyway” “No, it can't be this, not this. This is a bad fit for me I'm not suited for it- Should I quit it now, or— But that's not right, right! I wonder, when will I get to be The leading star of this show?” “We're not here yet, yet. This can't be the end, so If you're not suited for the role Then just rewrite the script! Look, for the most part, I'm sure it'll always just be me The leading star will only be me!” “The future I wanted to change has come. Whatever you like, however you like it, This is it. I made it here, all the way from the bottom. Just like a movie, this is my story.”
-----------------------------------
Epel: Telecaster B-boy
A song talking about the struggle of growing up, trying to find one’s place in this vast world, the singer desires to be loved and appreciated but always gets misunderstood and underappreciated and also frustrated with society, just like Epel himself. He hates being the stereotype, cliche thing. If you know his story and goal then this song is very fitting for him! Also the funky, youthful but somewhat fast beat and lyrics fit him very well too!
“The more I grow up DeDeDe The less I fit in, a vacant temple. The girl the life philosopher spoke to Turns into a bird … With just lip service PaPaPa I'll tie up my raggedy shoes … The boy whom a believer in digitization cursed Turns into wind …” “No matter how you look at it DeDeDe It's a stereo bias, sadistic The girl who sang like she was stung by a bee Turns into a flower... Even if you cover your ears PaPaPa Those guys' voices become loud The boy who got these words stabbed in his chest Turns back…” “In this world where I can't Even breathe for a bit Declaring a goodbye to reality Won't you just forgive us? We, the weak ones Let's meet up again somewhere”
-----------------------------------
Rook: Liar Dance
Rook is a bit hard to find, but in my opinion this is the best song for him. It talks about a couple who both hide and lie to each other. But it also means that the singer’s POV is them knowing they’re a liar, a criminal just like other people. Rook himself is not an exception, he also lies and hides many things away even to his friends or someone like Vil. Also I think the lyrics fit him really well, with constant mention of love and lies many times throughout.
''Stolen? Just whatever do you mean?'' Feigning ignorance today as well Having made a vow, to you and you alone Declaring this loveless love of mine in front of you" "Stolen? Just whatever do you mean?" Committing myself to this performance, set lines and all Those memories we've desperately created and clung to, they blend together and feelings between us intensify” “Dance away liar This love has swelled up like a balloon let's turn it into a lie with the prick of a needle On the count of "I-love-you" “Dance away, liar It's too late to apologize We're already partners in this crime called "love" Who cares if there's no going back?”
-----------------------------------
💀 Ignihyde 💀
Idia: All I Need are Things I Like
While there could be many other songs that fit Idia, I decided to pick this one because of the lyrics and overall meaning. The song talks about indulging solely into one’s interests and favorite thing everyday, almost every time without paying much attention to reality much at all. Even though the singer sounds happy and satisfied, they also sound lonely, deprived of energy and strength and also longing for actual companionship instead of coping up to the things that they like. It sounds like Idia himself after what happened to him and also his backstory!
"I don’t like weekdays, I like the weekend I don’t like work, I like going back to sleep It’s impossible to live on slacking like this My consciousness recedes" "I don’t like vegetables, I like hamburgers I don’t like barley tea, I like juice Don’t be sweet on me, but I like sweet tasting things My lifetime’s first page" "Only looking at things I like gradually my eyesight gets worse Only being filled with things I like gradually my mind gets duller" "I don’t like living things, I like machines I don’t like the real world, I like the virtual Your tastes were always biased deteriorating and ceasing to think" "Surrounded by the things I like I’ve become unforgiving to the things I don’t like Living only with the things I like I'm resented by someone, somewhere"
-----------------------------------
Ortho: Near
This song is gentle, yet emotional and bittersweet, its meaning also fits Ortho and Idia + their relationship a lot if you take it into their backstory context too. At first, Ortho is just a robot that only acts according to how he was programmed but gradually, he starts acting outside his intended programming and learns his own sentience and emotions - just like the robot girl as the song progresses. Overall, I think this fits him a lot!
“Hey, Near. If I don't make fun of someone And if I won't be able to forgive myself How do you feel about This horrible person?" "Hey, Near. Watching other's strides Stepping out without a purpose How do you feel about this Dull person? Hey Near” “Hey, Near. I think living every day with a smile Is something natural How do you feel about This arrogant person?" "Things that do not take any form and cannot be predicted Will interfere with the calculation process" Even so" "Ah, I'll still continue to believe And ask you who doesn't have a heart Because your hand was So much warmer than mine”
-----------------------------------
🐉 Diasomnia 🐉
Malleus: Hare wo Matsu
I feel like this song fits Malleus the most with how the lyrics constantly talk about one’s loneliness and about past’s memories. For Malleus, his biggest fear perhaps is his dearest, most cherished people leave his life, like Lilia - his guardian that raises him up ever since he’s still a little lizard or maybe even MC - his ever first friend that treats him so dearly despite his status or his fearful magic power unlike others who is afraid of him. Even the beat is also beautiful but sad, full of longing for your loved one when they leave - just like Malleus himself.
"I'm not getting tired of this morning, One that I've waited for. Very faintly, I'm laughing while appearing to be sorrowful, And wishing to completely forget you." "Because there's no end to this curse Of sleeplessness and the painful past. I'm singing a song in the morning glow, If only I could completely forget, it would end." "There's just one thing I can't yield, And still, without knowing the reason, I live, even now..." "Since I don't have a dream I want to protect, These are days with no answer, But that isn't kindness, isn't it?" "Look, since absolutely nothing hurts, It's alright," I say. Someday, when you'll be gone, ah~ Will I be living alone?”
-----------------------------------
Lilia: Kanade Tomosu Sora
I feel like this song fits Lilia the most in terms of the vibe, the lyrics that matched well with his backstory. This song, while sad, full of longing and reminiscent from the past yet it’s like a glimmer of hope somewhere in the deep, dark sea of sad memories. Lilia was the same too despite how we see him acting outwardly. He gives love to others, but he also needs love and hope. He went through events that could crush him easily and yet, he still stayed strong - for a whole 200+ years, for the sake of others. (I recommend checking out the 25ji, Night Code de version too!)
“Every time I trace back my memories, I feel as if I’m going to be crushed, yet Since I have no place to take refuge, I just keep questioning myself over and over. Ah…” “There are too many things in my way, It’s as if there are only things I can’t see Is it alright if I try touching it a little? I want to say it. Even though it might surely be impossible, I want to somehow. Hey, more; hey, more; I want to see more” “So I can turn the images I’ve found of your world still unknown to me Into song" "Blaming myself all this time, I simply live and breathe but only just barely I’ve always shut it away in a cage I’m not asking for a plain, simple story. I simply wish to hear your voice” “It still hurts. Words keep tightening the cord round my neck, but... These eyes of mine I closed so gently as well, still hurt a little, but… I want to say it. Even though now, I still don’t know when it’ll be but someday for sure. Hey, more; hey, more; I want to see more”
-----------------------------------
Silver: Ice Drop
I think this song fits Silver a lot mostly because of the lyrics, and the deep sea could symbolize the dreams that he dives into in Book 7. Although it’s upbeat, the lyrics are full of longing and reminiscing of the past and also his father, but eventually move on and “grow up” from it. Not to mention, you could even take it as a SilverMC song if you think about that aspect! But even if it's not in a romantic sense, it's still a song talking about how much the past affects us and how we long for our loved one even if it's just a memory, that's why to me this song is really for Silver!
“Even the memories of the past are merely a thousand-year tale I take a deep breath as I fall into the deep sea” “Uh- that voice of yours drenches my whole heart Tangled up and captivated by each other, we sing our unchanging love once more You, not letting go of your hands become a rule of mine It's a heart that will melt away the rusted last page That one and only magic will turn this world around” “I’ll be waiting. Inside my dream, I reach out my hand” “Uh- On this planet, I fell in love without sleeping I longed for you and hesitated what to do, but from now on, I'll grow up You, If it’s with you, I’ll dive in without hesitation”
-----------------------------------
Sebek: Kashika
Sebek was the hardest to find for me in the entire list mainly because while he has his own character, he doesn’t have too much depth but I tried my best and I think this song fits him the most! This song is powerful, full of willpower and hope towards tomorrow despite the hard, tough times. The song encourages us to keep living, even in the most uncertain moments, you need to cherish each moment of your life as well your living heartbeat, which represents the tenacity and perseverance of life. I feel like the energy as well the meaning of the song fits Sebek a lot overall for his character - with the desire to rise, stand up and protect he always have.
“When my quivering voice breathed life into a song, It was then I realized, That was the first time my breath could be seen. They say that in the end, the value of music is subjective– Well then, I'll sing as I please, I'll show you the message I want to convey. I won't despair over Or be afraid of my mistakes. They say to "live the right way," But I want to fight against that. My whole life has consisted of "it's my fault." Even if I'm treated like a fool, I'll be hurt and I'll hurt others, I'll live, causing both kindness and injury. The present I see is everything to me, So I don't want to cling onto ideals of the past or the future. Beat, beat, o heart of mine! It might be unsteady, but even so, this is my pulse.”

Here's her dad! What? They don't look similar? Oh yeah, forgot to mentioned that he adopted her.
He's a two liner, with two lines above his left eye.
His personal magic is blue fire and his Secondth involves having a Phoenix rising. He actually had trouble managing his magic in the past and would have burn marks on his hands, hence why he wears gloves.. (but not an eyepatch to cover his eye lol)
He attended Walkis because he didn't passed the Easton's entrance exam. (If he passed, he would've been in Orca)
He's 32 years old.. He's just really tired, he got 'em eyebags.
He used to worked as an assistant to the Magic Research Administration team before having an accident that causes his scar on his face and that results to him changing his job placement.
Quick backstory on him and Claire (I promise it'll be quick.. If I lie here, forgive me), neighbours have been reporting that Claire's mother figure during that time hasn't been around and often times, Claire would be in other's (the neighbours) care.
However one day, her mother supposedly erased all her traces in the house, only leaving the child and her (Claire) belongings.
No neighbours actually wanna take in Claire due to their own personal issues. So the report suggested that the police could investigate and trace her relatives. However another issue was brought up due to the fact that there's seems to be little to no information to her own family because the mother has cut all ties as well.
Another solution was to bring her to an orphanage. The current Detective, Louis Renaud, was filling in the paperwork and had the child staying with him for the time.(I know there's probably other places she could go but this one's different, sorz)
Claire was like.. 5 at this age, still a baby (to me). For Louis, it's been almost a year since his change from the Magic Research Administration to the Magic Police.
[Ryoh Grantz is in charge for the Magic Police but he's still like a teenager (19), Tsurara was not there yet]
He took pity on the kid and always try to cheer her up with small stuff like trinkets even though she wasn't even sad about the situation considering she rarely sees her anyway.
He didn't have the heart to just give her away to an orphanage and home did felt lonely that time.. so he adopted her.
He filled in the paperworks for her orphanage and the adoption paper so it was quick work. Thus, from that moment, Claire had her old family name removed and taken in on the "Renaud" family.
Quick quick quick facts:
After he adopted her, Ryoh sometimes teases about his choice of becoming a father but did say his choice was "manly" and a "handsome" to do.
If Louis is staying up late in his office again to do paperwork or other work related stuff, he would have Claire stay in his office and provide things like books, small toys and drawing materials to keep her entertain.
Until like the age of 13, she had met some people like Kaldo, Renatus and Agito but only them. (Considering that Renatus and Agito are apparently appointed Divine Visionaries at the same time, I'll put them together)
But Divine Visionaries that's like 25 and below, she only somewhat know them. That means she barely know Rayne Ames and Lance Crown.
The closest Divine Visionaries she know is Ryoh Grantz. Mainly because he's friends with her father so yeah.
Ryoh's wife once babysit her aswell.
Lol, I kind of lied, it was not short..

Storytime: during 2020 my period suddenly went haywire and I started having abdominal pain. In July of 2021 I had been bleeding for 14 days and decided "Oh shit. Something is WRONG with me!" Went to Planned Parenthood and was told to go to a OBGYN because they saw a small cyst on my cervix. And to go to the ER if the pain got worse.
Less than a month I'm fetal position curled up with stabbing pain, vomiting, can barely walk. Off to the ER I go where I miraculously avoid catching COVID because height of the pandemic. After 3 hours they run blood (which is normal because I have been taking iron for the anemia for over a month and am barely surviving on a rotation of NSAIDs) and then my first 2 ultrasounds where they can't find one of my ovaries from either the external or transvaginal. They tell me that is normal, make an OBGYN appointment, bill me and send me home.
3 months of suffering and the joys of trying to work when sitting up on an abdomen that has radiating pain so intense I'm vomiting at least once a day and only want to lay in bed crying. I finally get into Banner Women's Health in Phoenix, AZ (naming them to protect the other women in my shoes). I never see the same doctor more than once. Day one I tell them everything, I have been keeping a pain diary and documenting my loss of work for FMLA. I point blank tell her that I am OKAY with a hysterectomy if it makes the bleeding and pain stop. She (and every doctor until I reach a surgeon pushes an IUD...on someone already vomiting from pain and BLEEDING!) runs the same tests as the ER; blood - normal, ultrasounds - still can't see that ovary. I get put on a hormonal birth control and told based on flow to take 1-3 and call in a week. This did nothing and I ran out in 2 weeks for what should have been a month of prescription. Next doctor tries a different hormonal birth control (after the IUD argument and another pelvic exam which only confirms that yes, I'm still bleeding, yes, those clots are massive...I have been bleeding for 2 months now) and a clotting medication. The not-period gets down to spotting, still painful and my life is hell.....for 3 months. Then I run out of the clotting prescription and despite birth control with no placebos I'm back to hemorrhaging. Next doctor, I throw up from the pain and look like hell warmed over so Gabapentin is added to the pill circulation. The prescription amount makes me motion sick when my eyes are open. I cut the dose back until I can function after a call to the doctor... it's not helping the source of the pain I can feel it but differently. I take it like they keep telling me and keep on the clotting medication. I'm begging for a hysterectomy at every appointment now. They biopsied both my cervix and uteran wall (feel a pinch? No, they didn't anesthetize the area...my shrieks made it to the waiting room...but I held still and only ripped one hole in the exam pad) and everything is fine according to them....more hormones and a break from the clotting medication that risks an aneurysm... They think I need pelvic floor PT now. Every PT they try to book me with isn't licensed for Pelvic....fuck them my kiegals are fine.
In mid 2022 I'm starting to give up. Life is chronic pain and bleeding. My husband, who married me in 2021 during the worst of my struggle, calls out of work and comes to an appointment with me. He backs me up. The doctor refuses to agree to a hysterectomy but when my husband presses them to review my records of the past 2 years, after they try to put me on the first birth control again, the doctor agreed to "exploratory surgery" to see if they can spot something they couldn't on the 6 ultrasounds. An appointment with a surgeon is set. Once I get to her office she's shocked at how long I've been suffering, assures me she'll check, and agrees to a hysterectomy and discusses the types she can perform.
The ovary they couldn't see had been ENCASED in a cyst for 3 years. There was another cyst working on the other ovary. A dissection of my uterus showed pre-cancerous fibroids. My surgeon was impressed by my "pristine" liver and proudly was showing my husband pictures of it while my anesthesia wore off. December 29, 2022. I've been an emotional wreck for other reasons since but health-wise I'm finally feeling good again.
@thebibliosphere I had to repost this for both of us because OOF

My Hero Academia- I am Phoenix:

Chapter 29- The Ultimate Test, Part 1:
Before we knew it, the day of the Provisional Licensing Exam arrived. Jiro groaned, echoing the butterflies of nerves that I was definitely feeling just as much as she was. “I’m getting kinda nervous!”
“I wonder what they’re gonna make us do…” Mineta trailed off, rocking side to side in what I assumed were nerves as well. “Ugggh, what if I can't get my license?”
“Mineta.” Our teacher snapped him out of the rocking. “Don’t ask if you can, say you will.” He advised our shortest classmate.
“Right! Sure, I’ve so got this!” Mineta replied, before Mr Aizawa straightened, addressing the rest of us.
“If you can pass this test and get your provisional licenses, then you novice eggs will hatch into chicks. You’ll be semi-pros.” He gave us a serious look. “I expect your best.”
“All right! I can’t wait to be a heroic chicken!” Kaminari exclaimed.
“Seriously with the oxymoron?” I questioned under my breath.
“Let's call out the usual, you guys! On my mark! Go Plus…”
“Ultra!” I jumped, startled, my wings popping out of my back as some kid had snuck into our school’s group, ending up behind me and jumping in on our school’s hype huddle. Once I got over the shock, I looked him over. He was tall, looking to be around 6’3” if I had to wager a guess, was very well built, with dark eyes and a cap covering his head. The cap itself was navy blue, the brim of the hat black, an orange stripe separating the two colors with a yellow S logo in the middle of it. He also wore a white button up shirt and dark pants.
“You know, it’s pretty rude to barge into other people’s huddles like that, Inasa.” A boy with purple hair and the same outfit as Inasa told him. He was shorter than Inasa, lankier too, but the very air around him gave massive I am above you energy… Kinda like Bakugo when I first met him. There was another boy, but the girl that had long blond hair with them? The sight of her made my feathers ruffle, something just felt… Off.
“What? Pardon me! I am so…” I watched as he put his arms stiffly to his side, “Very….”, bowed low to the ground, “Extremely sorry!” I tipped my head to one side as I watched him basically put his head to the ground, wind seeming to come out of him.
“Who is this guy? I do not trust his enthusiasm!” Kaminari exclaimed. I glanced at our teacher, who seemed to recognize the guy immediately.
“Hey, look at their uniforms.” Jiro pointed out.
“They’re from that famous school on the other side of Japan.” Sero added.
“UA in the East…” Bakugo trailed off.
“Shiketsu in the West.” I finished, knowing they were widely considered to be our rivals when it came to Hero Courses.
“I wanted to say it just once! Plus Ultra! See, I really love UA High School! I am extremely honored to compete against such incredible students! I’m so looking forward to it!” Inasa shot back upward, continuing his enthusiasm. Jesus, where does this guy get his energy? I thought, blinking before noticing the guy was bleeding from his head.
“Oh. Blood.” The girl next to him was bone chillingly cool about the sight.
“Let’s go.” The purple haired guy ordered.
“Wait, hang on, your head.” I rushed forward, thankful I’d had the weird feeling to bring a cloth today. I wiped the blood off Inasa’s face, using my wings to get high enough before healing his head with a drop of healing tears. “There you go, all better.” I told him as I landed. “Try to be more careful, okay?” I asked him.
“Thank you so very much, Pretty Fire Angel! See you in there!” Inasa thanked me before hurrying after his classmates.
“Inasa Yoarashi…” Mr Aizawa trailed off.
“Wait, so you do know who he is?” I questioned as I went back to my own classmates.
“Indeed, he’s strong. He’s the same year as you all and received the top scores of students admitted through recommendations. But, for some unknown reason, he turned down his acceptance to UA and went to Shiketsu.” Mr Aizawa explained.
“Wait, He’s…. Our age?!” Izuku and I exclaimed at the same time.
“Hold on, is anyone else confused here?” Sero questioned everyone. “This guy says that he loves our school, but he turned down his chance to enroll when it was offered?”
“Yeah…. What a weirdo.” Mina commented.
“Maybe, but he’s the real deal. Keep an eye on him.” Mr Aizawa warned us.
“ERASER?!” I watched as our teacher stiffened at the voice that suddenly called out to him, and I covered a snort. Someone could make him of all people on edge? “I’d know that scowl anywhere! I saw you on TV and at the Sports Festival, but it’s been a while since we were this close in person.” I knew the hero coming towards us. She was a young woman with a strong athletic build, with sea green hair that reached past her shoulders and fringes of hair sprayed at the ends covered by her signature orange bandana. She had dark green eyes with bright pupils, but her most prominent feature? The joyous smile on her face. She was wearing her hero costume, a sleeveless navy blue shirt with a high collar that was buttoned all the way to her chin, puffed shorts with a green and orange pinstripe design and a corset adorned with smiley face pins-how she kicked ass in that damn corset, I’ll never know- dipping into a shallow U at the center. Below that, she wore a white, V shaped belt and on her hands were padded gloves with golden plates over her knuckles and lower fingers, which extended in orange striped tubes down her lower arms, thick metal cylinders acting as wrist guards. She also sometimes wore a white mask with yellow, circular shaped smiley face protrusions, but she wasn't wearing the mask that day…
Despite her cheerful attitude upon getting Mr Aizawa, he looked… Less than thrilled. “She looks familiar.”
“She should, she’s Ms Joke! Her Quirk Outburst can put her opponents into fits of uncontrollable laughter, impairing them and allowing her to take them down with ease! She’s known in Japan as the Smile Hero for her infectious smile and happy go lucky attitude.” Since Izuku seemed confused about the hero’s identity, I ended up fangirling a little too hard, excited about telling my classmates about a hero Izuku barely recognized and one of my personal favorites aside from my parents. When I came out of my mini rant, I realized that my classmates were staring at me and I turned cherry red.
“Let’s get married.” Ms Joke told Mr Aizawa.
“No.” Mr Aizawa coldly shut her down, only for her to laugh it off. Mina looked disappointed as her romance dreams were shattered.
“You’re a real laugh riot, buddy.” Ms Joke replied.
“As usual, you're impossible, Joke.” Mr Aizawa responded.
“Come on, imagine it! If I was your wife, you’d have a future full of constant laughter!” Ms Joke gave a thumbs up.
“That sounds like an actual nightmare.” Mr Aizawa commented coldly before Ms Joke laughed it off again.
“It seems like you two are close.” Tsu brought up.
“Our agencies were near each other. As striving heroes striving to make a difference in the world, a mutual love bloomed!”
“No, it didn’t.” Mr Aizawa’s inner introvert was showing.
“I do miss your quick retorts! You’re my favorite person to tease, future husband!” Ms Joke replied. That was about when Mom joined us.
“Ms Joke, glad you haven't changed.” Mom spoke up.
“Ace! Holy crap, I haven’t seen you since the beginning of my intern days! How’ve you been?” Ms Joke turned star eyed.
“I’m doing all right…. For an older lady. I’m not as young as I used to be, so I’m retired now.” Mom rubbed the back of her neck.
“I heard about your retirement, but I bet you can still kick ass! You kept up with All Might in your younger years, and you inspired so many!” Ms Joke said before her eyes fell on me, gasping. “Is that little Hino?! Oh my god, I can’t believe she ended up in Aizawa's class, I still remember her as an adorable baby, practically attached to you.”
“I know, right? Time flies, but she turns 16 this September.” Mom replied, making me turn redder.
“Mom!” I whined, trying to hide in my wings, much to the amusement of my classmates.
“So, Joke, if you’re here, then that must mean…” Mr Aizawa trailed off.
“That’s right!” She confirmed before turning to the class trailing behind her. “Over here, everyone, this is UA.”
“Oh, wow, it really is Class A!” A boy commented.
“Wow, that’s so amazing!” A girl with blond hair replied. “I’ve seen them on TV before.”
“Second years from Ketsubusu Academy.” Ms Joke told us before turning to Mom. “This is Class 2, they’re my students.” I squeaked in surprise as I felt the boy who spoke up earlier take my hands in his.
“Hey, I’m Shindo! Seems like UA’s had a lot of trouble this year. Must have been tough for you.” The boy’s hair was almost as spiky as Katsuki's, except it was brown, with his eyes matching the color of his hair. He looked to be about 5 '9, give or take a quarter inch, his bangs hanging just above his eyes and his smile warm, though the look in his eyes…. It didn't match.
“We handled it the best we could….” I mumbled in response as I pulled my hands away and stepped behind Shoto and Katsuki, my wings wrapping around me again. Despite the kind smile on his face, he had still touched me without asking if it was okay, and that threw me off just as much as the sinister look in his eyes did. He moved away from me, doing the same thing to Kaminari.
“But even so, you’re all still aiming to become pro heroes, despite those hardships.” He let go of Kaminari and went onto Jiro. “Hearts full of fortitude! I believe that’s what every hero in the world needs to have.”
“He’s too nice.” Izuku murmured.
“Way too nice…” I trailed off, shrinking back behind the boys still.
“Bakugo and Yagi, it must have been hard for you, what with that whole kidnapping incident.” I wasn’t too far behind on Katsuki's confusion. What was he getting at? “You two have an especially strong will, don’t you? Today, I’m gonna do my best to learn from you. I really hope you don't mind.” He reached a hand to touch me again, this time getting smacked away from me by Katsuki.
“Stop pretending. What you say doesn't match the look on your eyes.” Katsuki pointed out. The look on his face seemed to confirm it.
*Hey, man, don’t be so rude!” Kirishima called him out. “Sorry, he’s just like that.”
“It’s fine. It proves how tough his heart is.” Shindo replied, making Katsuki scoff.
“Hey, Todoroki. Can I have your autograph? You were so cool at the Sports Festival!” The girl went up to Shoto.
“Seriously? Stop fangirling.” The boy next to her scolded.
“I’d be happy to sign something for ya.” Mineta pipped up from behind her.
“Flame Hair, you good? Katsuki asked me. “You looked scared for a second.”
“It wasn't really that I was scared per say, I just… I got a bad feeling from him, and grabbing my hands without asking permission didn't exactly help.” I confessed, keeping my voice low.
“He does it again, come to me. I’ll kill ‘em.” Katsuki growled. I smiled a bit.
“Thanks, Dynamite Stick.” I replied.
“Hey! Get your costumes and head to orientation. There’s no time to waste.” Mr Aizawa ordered.
“Yes sir!” We all replied.
“Good luck, Class A! We’re rooting for you!” Mom cheered as we went inside. Honestly, it felt… Great having my Mom cheer me on, made me feel like I was ready for anything.
“It’s weird. I always forget we're famous to other schools.” Jiro piped up.
“Oh yeah, we’re basically celebrities when it comes to hero course students.” Kaminari replied.
“That means they’ll know our fighting styles and Quirks from the Sports Festival too, idiot.” I reminded them as I tucked my wings away. “Remember what Mr Aizawa said. Millions of people across the country watch the Sports Festival, other schools included.”
“Wait, so we’ll be sitting ducks?” Kaminari asked me in a low voice, sounding panicked.
“Not entirely. Remember, the whole point of the past 10 days wasn't just developing our ultimate moves, it was setting our fighting styles in stone. The other schools don’t know that our styles have changed, so we have the upper hand for now.” I replied. Once we got into our costumes and inside, I got a sense of claustrophobia, but tried to shove it down.
“Look at this crowd.” Izuku trailed off, looking around.
“There are so many.” Ochaco continued. A sigh came over the mic, quieting the chatter to a silence.
“Okay then, let’s do this exam thing. I’m from, uh, the Heroes Public Safety Commission. Name’s Mera. My circadian rhythm is so screwed up…” And just when I thought no one could look sleepier than our teacher, this Mera guy beat him by a landslide. He went to lay his head down, only for the microphone to give off feedback. “Ah man… I've been swamped lately and I haven't gotten much rest. We’re too short staffed…” He yawned. “I’m so tired…” His hand came to his face. “With that confession, I’ll now begin orientation.” Izuku and I gave each other incredulous looks. Maybe somebody outta give this guy a break… Preferably before he passes out…I thought, the look on Izuku's face telling me he thought the same thing. “So, about the content of this license thing… Basically, 1540 examinees compete in a free-for-all exercise or whatever we’re calling it this year.”
“Seriously? That’s not a lot of info…” Sero trailed off.
“See, we've got a lot of pros around, and since Stain was arrested, many people have expressed doubts about the status of heroes in society…” Even from behind bars, the blood licking bastard was still affecting our world… “But, when you really think about it, getting paid makes sense. If you’re going to risk your life to save someone, why shouldn't you ask for a reward, huh? That's just the way the world works. God I could use a coffee…. Anyway, whether they’re in it for compensation or out of a sense of duty, we've got too many heroes working together in the streets these days to keep villains at bay.” And yet the League of Villains is still at large… I thought bitterly. “Honestly, the time between when an incident begins and when it’s resolved is ridiculously short.” That’s how it should be! “You are all here trying to receive your provisional licenses, so you’ll be swept up in this tiresome mess yourselves pretty soon. Those of you who don’t have the speed, frankly, just won't cut it. Which is why that’s what you'll be tested on.” My stomach and jaw dropped as a number appeared on the screen. “The first 100 students to fulfill the requirements will pass today.”
“Only six percent of us will pass?!” I exclaimed as the chatter picked back up.
“How the hell did you do the mental math on that?!” Kaminari asked.
“There are over 1500 people taking this test. I thought they said that about half of us would be passing.” Yaomomo wasn't far behind me on the surprise.
“This means that Hino’s right, less than 10 percent of us will get a license.” Tsu realized.
“Oh man, I’m getting way more nervous.” Jiro squeaked.
“Whoa, easy guys, we got this.” Getting over my initial shock, I turned to encourage them. “All of us just have to make it through as a class, we can do this. We’ve made it through tougher odds.”
“Well, the world can be pretty crappy. I suppose I should say something about luck… So, anyway, here are the basic rules.” He held up a ball and a screen looking thing. “The examinees will put three of these targets on his or her body. They can go anywhere you want as long as it's an exposed area. So, no soles of the feet or armpits.” Why did he have to call out those two places? “Each of you will also have six of these balls. The targets are programmed to light up whenever they’ve been touched by the balls. If all three targets light up, you’re out. Oh, and the person who lights up your third target will get credit for your defeat.” He touched the ball to the target to demonstrate how it worked. “You get through this round by taking down two people. Got it? Good. What else? Uh…. I guess we’ll start by passing out the targets and balls. Then you’ll have a few minutes to get situated after we open.” I stopped dead. What did he mean ‘after we open’? I thought.
“Open?” Todoroki questioned my thoughts before a clunking sound went off, the room morphing into a flat surface and opening into a larger arena. I blinked a couple times. What the hell?!
“I’m sure each of you have different terrains that you’d like or want to avoid. Use your Quirks well and do your best. Or not… Whatever.” Mera continued. “Yes, I know, makes for a great reveal, doesn't it?” It’s a bit much! Now that the room was open, I could see my Mom in the stands next to Mr. Aizawa, and she looked annoyed at the show off nature of this. “And for what?” He covered his face again. “So much sleep lost for this… Hopefully some of these kids are fast and we can get this over with. Until then, I’m gonna rest my eyes.” Mera signed off unceremoniously. I got situated as I put the targets on. One on my leg, one on my right bicep and the other on the lower half of my left arm. It felt almost telling that no one was going to be going after their classmates if the first 100 people passed, so it was better to stick with the people who’s quirks you already knew…
“Everyone!” Izuku spoke up, almost like he was having the same thought I was. “Stay close together. We’ll fight them as a group.”
“Got it.” Iida voiced his agreement while Ochaco hummed hers.
“Yeah, right, this isn't a field trip.” On cue, Bakugo argued with Izuku’s plan.
“We split up, it makes it easier for them to pick us off, Dynamite Stick!” I shouted at him as he ran off.
“Idiot, wait up!” Kirishima called after him before Kaminari followed.
“Kacchan!” Izuku called after him.
“Kirishima!” Iida called after the red head.
“I’m going on my own too.” Shoto told us.
“Come on, Todoroki, not you too!” I exclaimed.
“It’s hard for me to use my power safely when a big group’s around.” Shoto explained as he walked off.
“Todoroki!” Izuku shouted after him.
“Midoriya, there’s no time, let’s go!” Mineta told him. As we ran ahead, Izuku continued.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea for them to go off on their own, though…” He trailed off.
“How come?” Mineta asked.
“Like I said earlier, everyone else already knows what powers we have thanks to the Sports Festival.” I pointed out again, since it seemed like Mineta hadn’t heard me earlier.
“I see!” Iida exclaimed.
“Besides that, the other schools have probably figured out the same way to win that I have… This is going to end up being a battle between schools. With that in mind, first, it’s likely they’ll gang up against Quirks they know.” Izuku pointed out.
“Does that mean…” Mina started to ask.
“Don’t tell me…” Kyoka trailed off, but I nodded. A horn went off.
“The first test will now begin.” A female voice began the test over the intercom. Just as the test started, we saw the other schools coming at us, all at once.
“I knew it!” Izuku and I exclaimed at the same time.
“I saw you on TV! That power of yours also destroys your body! Well, I can’t say I’m above taking advantage of that!” Shindo yelled as he threw a ball at us, along with everyone else. Izuku charged forward, dodging the balls and jumping into the air, activating Full Cowling. With a strong kick, he blew all the balls that had been thrown at us back to the people who threw them. Tokoyami did the same thing with Dark Shadow, having him catch the balls and throw them back.
“You don’t know everything we can do, boy.” I told Shindo as I activated my own shadows, lifting myself into the air, draped in a darkness that only I could see out of. I willed the forming of multiple arms, catching the ones my classmates couldn’t get to and throwing them back. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Sero using his tape to catch them, Mina using her acid to ricochet them back, Yaomomo using shields to shield Tsu, Toru and herself from the balls, Iida running as he dodged them.
“Take this!” Mineta yelled as he used the ball whip trick that he used in the Final Exams to catch the balls thrown his way.
“Oh.” Shindo seemed surprised, but not by a lot.
“We’ve got this, you guys! Show them what UA can do!” Izuku called out to us.
“With pleasure!” I replied, grinning. The shadows warped and changed my voice, making it sound almost… Sinister. Despite only having experience with this Quirk for a little over a week, the sunlight was the perfect time to try it out in a combat situation. Besides, it wasn’t like I could use my flames while I was with everyone else. It would risk hurting them, I couldn’t do that now…
“None of our attacks are landing…” One of the others in front of us commented.
“I guess we shouldn't be surprised UA won't go down without a fight.” Shindo replied.
*Maybe not, but we have a plan.” I watched as the first one did something to the balls. “All done!” He tossed them down to his classmate, who caught them easily.
“I’ll take it from here.” The guy who was scolding the girl earlier told his classmates.
“Heads up, guys!” I called out to my classmates.
“Just try not to be jealous when I end up finishing ahead of the rest of our class. But I:m sure you won’t mind since I’ll be reducing enemy numbers with this elegant attack.” You gonna throw the balls, dude? I thought. “Target, lock on!” I was ready for them to come straight at us, but the balls went underground. What the hell? I thought, my eyes watching for the balls to pop out.
“Where are they gonna pop out?” Izuku asked, looking for them too.
“Get back, I’ll handle this!” Kyoka told us before plugging her Earphone Jacks into the support items on her gloves. “Sound Amplification: Amplifier Jack, Heartbeat Distortion!” By slamming her fists into the ground, she broke up the ground in front of us.
“She’s breaking the ground apart! It won’t help!” The guy who threw them called out. Mineta turned.
“They’re coming straight for me!” Mineta yelped.
“I got this!” I ran over, flipping over him and getting a few of the balls.
“Maximum strength and viscosity! Protect this perv, Acid Veil!” Mina shielded Mineta from the balls I couldn't catch with my shadows.
“Wow, thanks! That’s such a great move!” Mineta complimented.
“It’s my defensive special move that creates a melty wall.” Mina told him.
“Hey, idiots, ya lost something!” I shouted as I threw the balls at them with my shadow Quirk, nailing a couple of them. My throw was on target to get all three of one targets on one person and one on the other. Just one more person now.
“Black Abyss!” I heard Tokoyami cry out, attacking Dark Shadow onto him.
“Cooler name and easier to say.” Izuku and I commented at the same time.
“Now, Dark Shadow. Piercing Twilight Claws!” Tokoyami attacked the girl earlier.
“No, no, no, no!” She suddenly shrunk into her waist before her head popped out.
“What the hell?!” I shouted.
“Whew! That was close…” She trailed off.
“Interesting… This isn’t the Class A from the Sports Festival.” Shindo trailed off.
“You really thought it would be that easy to take us down? We’re not like the others, y’know. We got more tricks up our sleeves.” I told him.
“Mm, looks like all the students are still in a stalemate… Except for one student already being out, no one’s passed yet. Oh, and don't worry, students, I’ll keep you updated with an announcement everytime a few students move onto the next round.” Mera came over the intercom. I looked around, keeping my eye on everybody, but movement out of the corner of it brought my attention back to Shindo, who was cracking his knuckles.
“All right. Outta the way! Their defenses are too strong right now! I’ll fix that!” Shindo yelled to his classmates.
“Aw shit…” I trailed off, sprouting my wings and jumping into the air. “Anyone who can, get off the ground now!” I yelled to the others below, but my warning came seconds too late.
“MAXIMUM FORCE! TREMORING EARTH!” Shindo exclaimed.
“Not good, everybody run!” Iida yelled.
“What the heck is this?!” I heard Mina ask.
“His power’s insane!” Mineta squeaked.
“Guys!” I shouted, unable to see anyone due to the dust getting kicked up. Everyone had been separated.
“We’ve got ultimate moves too. You didn't think you were the only ones, did ya?” Shindo taunted.
“Come on, there should be at least one or two who’ve passed by now… Stop biding your time and get this over with.” Mera came back over the intercom.
“There's about to be!” I flew in the direction of where I saw the other class we’d been facing. I landed just before the dust cleared, walking toward them with all six balls drawn, separated between both hands.
“One managed to escape?”
“Shit, how’d she do that?” I heard them ask.
“Oh yeah, you’re the one with wings.” Shindo realized.
“Sure am.” I let my wings out, igniting my feathers to make myself look more dangerous. “I really should thank you, Shindo. By separating me from my classmates, you’ve just made this easier for me. All I have to do really is get one more person.” I told him. He looked scared and I started dodging balls left and right, throwing a ball at Shindo and somehow hitting one of his targets. Three of them went the other way, hitting a couple more people. I had two left now, spotting another one of Shindo’s targets and hitting the other one. “Now what should I do? Should I knock you out, Shindo? Or one of the others I already have marked up?” He threw a ball at me and I flipped over it, blowing a flame onto the ball and throwing it in the direction of another student with two targets hit already, getting him out.
“Well, look at that… A student has passed.” Mera sighed. I looked at Shindo, who looked shocked and partly scared.
“Congratulations, you are the first student to pass, please proceed to the waiting area and await further instructions.” The targets turned blue, a computer system talking to me to tell me where to go next. I turned my attention back to Shindo.
“What’s your hero name?” I asked him.
“It’s Grand.” He told me. I gave him a two finger salute as I walked towards the anteroom.
“Mine’s Phoenix. We’ll meet again, Grand. I’ll look forward to fighting beside you on the field, so make sure you pass.” I told him over my shoulder as I walked out. I glanced at the stands, seeing my Mom practically beaming with pride. A quick look at my teacher told me he was smirking in pride. I smiled back before going into the waiting room. About five minutes later, 120 students were announced to have been taken out and I jumped out of my seat. Who the hell?! About two minutes later, Inasa walked in.
“Oh, hey! Pretty Fire Angel! It’s you!” Inasa greeted me with an enthusiastic wave. This guy took out the 120 students at once?! I thought, smiling a bit.
“Inasa! I was wondering who took out those 120 students all at once!” He was still wearing the hat from Shiketsu, but was wearing his hero costume this time. The hero costume for him consisted of a thick burgundy suit pinned together with yellow buttons. A cape was draped over his shoulders, the collar lined with thick fur, and it almost concealed the jetpack-like propulsion system attached to his back. His left arm was completely concealed by the thick, brown material and his hand sported a large tan glove with air pipes on it, whereas his right arm was completely exposed other than the skintight blue sleeve that appears to be part of his undersuit. Similarly to his left hand, there were several tubes around his torso and ankles, which I figured were used to aid with his Quirk. Plates resembling gas masks padded his knees and left shoulder, and he completed his costume with large brown shoes and a pair of goggles around his head. All in all, he looked good in it, but it was a little too clunky for my tastes. But, hey, to each their own, I guess…
“Yep! It was awesome!” He laughed. “Though, I’m a little surprised you managed to get here first, UA’s usually taken down first from what I heard.” I raised an eyebrow at Inasa's comment, putting my hands on my hips.
“Just cause I’m from a school that normally fails doesn't mean I’m like the classes that came before me, buster.” I told him. He bowed low and hard again.
“I’m so very sorry, Pretty Fire Angel! Please forgive me!” He apologized. I shook my head.
“It’s fine, would you quit making your head bleed?” I asked as I healed his head yet again. I sighed, sitting down. He plopped down into the seat next to me. “So, what hero name did you end up going with, anyway?”
“Oh! I’m Gale Force! Because my winds are a fiery passionate force to be reckoned with!” He exclaimed, jumping out of his seat and looking like a kid excited to tell me. I smiled.
“I like it.” I told him.
“Thanks… What hero name did you take on?” He asked. I grinned, jumping out of my seat and using my wings to boost myself into the air doing a pose.
“Phoenix is the name! And fiery passion is my game!” I gave as much energy as Inasa gave me, and I almost giggled as he got starry eyed.
“You’re so awesome! You have so much fiery passion, it's amazing!” Inasa told me. I waved him off.
“Aww, that’s sweet.” I told him, beaming at him. Once someone else entered the room, he wandered off to talk to that person. I shook my head before anxiously waiting for my classmates. 2 students passing soon became ten, then twenty…. Then thirty… The more students that came in, the more my stomach dropped. Forty… After 50 students were announced to have passed, I started wondering if I was the only UA student to have passed. But, much to my own relief, a few minutes after fifty students had been announced to have passed, I saw Shoto walking in the door. He stopped, looking at Inasa and I watched as Inasa glared at him, which honestly took me aback. What the hell was that about? I shook it off and called out to Shoto.
“Todoroki, hey!” He instantly turned my direction.
“Yagi, you passed.” He sounded and looked relieved.
“Yeah, after everyone got separated by one of the Ketsubusu Academy students, I took out the second person I needed to pass and came here. I’ve been here waiting for everyone else ever since.” I told him.
“You must have been the first one to pass then. Can’t say I’m surprised about that, though, you’ve always been a capable fighter.” He told me.
“Yeah, but I haven't seen anyone else from UA besides you… It’s starting to make me nervous…” I trailed off.
“I’m sure our classmates will be coming through that door soon, Angel.” He told me, trying to reassure me.
“Yeah, you’re right…” Wait, what did he just call me? “Wait, what’d you call me just now?” I asked.
“Angel. Do you not like the nickname?” Shoto looked curious now. I turned red.
“It’s not that, I just… I've never really heard you call me anything by my last name, so it took me by surprise.” I looked away from him, trying desperately to hide my blush.
“I’ll call you that more often then, Angel.” He promised, making me turn redder. Seriously, does he know what he does to me?! I thought, trying not to look at him again, instead, turning my attention to the screen that was showing the current standings. After a few minutes, Ochaco, Katsuki, Sero, Izuku, Kirishima and Kaminari walked through.
“Thank God, you dumbasses! Do you have any idea how worried you guys made me?!” I asked them, Kirishima and Kaminari a bit.
“Good to see you made it too, Hino.” Ochaco told me.
“Yeah, well, what'd you expect?” I asked, crossing my arms over my chest. “Shortly after Shindo’s dumbass split us up, I took out two of their ranks and made my way here.”
“Wait, you were the first one here?!” Izuku asked, shrieking a bit.
“Not much of a shock to me.” Katsuki growled as he walked past me.
“Yeah, I got here right before Inasa took out 120 students at once.” I answered, nodding toward the energetic teddy bear himself.
“He did what?!” Izuku, Sero and Ochaco questioned in shock.
“Why is that such a big shock? He has a wind type Quirk, he probably used it to snatch a bunch of balls at once and rain them down on everyone within range.” I countered with a shrug before turning back to the screen. I watched as more and more students passed, and much to my own relief, Iida and Aoyama came through, filling up the last two spots…
All of UA had passed the first phase...

Sally's Place for Misplaced Monsters, Chapter 1
Sally Anne Roberts was studying a history book on top of the backyard oak tree. She was studying a history book because she had a very important exam tomorrow, and she hated getting the questions wrong. She was doing so on top of a tree because she'd read a lot of books where little girls her age climbed trees without explaining why. She'd asked her parents why little girls her age liked climbing trees, but they just said “because it's fun”.
This had to be wrong. Climbing a tree, as far as Sally knew, was a type of going somewhere, and the was never anything fun about simply going somewhere.
And so Sally Anne Roberts was studying a history book on top of the backyard oak tree to see if her parents were right.
They weren't. But at least she had her history book with her.
“Maybe,” her mother said, “you'll understand better after you stay for a while and come back down.”
“At least,” her father said, “She's getting some fresh air.”
Well, as fresh as city air could be, anyway.
She climbed back down for supper with a better understanding of the first Spanish Republic, but no better understanding of the appeal of climbing trees. In terms of a space to do things in, it was hardly any different from her bedroom. Just outdoors and more precarious.
“There's nothing the matter with it, really,” she told her parents during dinner, “But it wasn't interesting enough to do a second time.”
“It was worth a try,” her father said afterwards, when Sally was upstairs getting ready for bed.
Her mother nodded. “We can try kites next.”
Her father sighed. Thy both knew kites wouldn't work either. Still, it was worth a try.
Sally's room was the picture of practicality. There were no frivolous patterns or adornments decorating the inside. Everything in it had a Use, which she had documented in the notebook on her bedside table. The bookshelf was for storing schoolbooks and notebooks and library books, the bedside table was for doing homework, the closet was for her clothes and backpack, the bed and pillows were for sleeping on. The large plush phoenix-gryphon was simply another pillow to her.
And Sam had spent the better part of two years making it, so its secondary Use was as an example of her best friend's skill with a needle.
(“So, Sally, what's the name of your new friend?” Her mother had asked when she had entered the house with the brand-new phoenix-gryphon held under her arm.
“What do you mean? Sam's been my friend since forever.”
“No, not Sam, dear,” her father had laughed, “the little bird you're carrying under your arm.”
Sally had looked confused at that, but Sam had laughed, “It doesn't need a name, silly! It's just a... What did you say it was, when I gave it to you after school today?”
Sally thought for a moment, and nodded once. “A very fancy pillow.”
“Yeah!” Sam grinned as if it was the highest compliment anyone could ever give him, “a very fancy pillow!”
“Hm,” her mother had said, after the children went upstairs to set the very fancy pillow up in Sally's bed.
“Hm,” her father had agreed. “Maybe we can get her into tree climbing.”)
When the day's adventures were over, Sally's parents tucked her good and tight into bed.
“Would you like us to open your window a little bit too?” Her mother asked.
“Is it windy outside?”
Her father looked outside. “I'd say so, yeah. Looks like there's gonna be a storm tomorrow.”
“Then yes, please.” Sally liked the way the wind made the curtains flutter in the darkness. There wasn't any practical reason for it, she just thought it was pretty.
“Alright, dear,” her mother opened the window a crack, and kissed her on the forehead. “Good night.”
“Sleep tight.” Her father did the same.
Her mother poked her head back into her room, and whispered “Don't let the monsters bite,” before closing the door behind her.
That's silly. Sally thought as she closed her eyes, monsters aren't real.

warning! light angst? y/n being too oblivious to realise their feelings🙄
masterlist- prev | next
☆ winter is coming ☆

12:34am
as always we sat comfortably together in the far corner of the library. it’s so quiet in here but the quiet is very much welcomed.
kazuha was silently reading through the final page of his essay, he looked so peaceful like this. his posture was relaxed as his eyes moved back and forth across the words on his screen. from this angle i could see every small little detail of his face- from his light freckles, to the small furrow in his brows as he read. my god this man is gorgeous.
we had decided to clean the last section of the library first as we figured it would tire us out a bit, we were completely right. i’m knackered right now, and i could tell kazuha is too.
“i think it’s done” he muttered as he turned towards me with a gentle smile, he always looked so lovely when such a small curve graced his face.
“that perfect! that means we’re completely done here then!” i exclaimed with a smile of my own finding peace on my own face
i begin to help kazuha pack up his own things as we head towards the large doors of the library
good i’m so happy i wont have to walk through these stupid doors every night
“i’ll hand this is in tomorrow morning, i really can’t thank you enough for your help y/n” carefully he reached out for me, pulling me gently into his embrace
my head found solace on his shoulder as his arms wrapped around my waist with such caution, almost as if he was afraid he’d hurt me
“i should be the one thanking you, i never would’ve finished without your help kazuha” we slowly pulled away from eachother as he began walking me back to my dorms
this had become some sort of routine, we’d finish up and he’d walk me back. however, he’d never hugged me before, it was new but definitely not unwelcome
this routine was about to be over forever
it all hit me like a ton of bricks
i’d said it as a joke before but it’s so likely we’d never see each other again. i mean sure we have each other’s numbers but i doubt we’d text much, we don’t have a reason too anymore
i didn’t want this to be over
but what could i do? we’d already said goodbye
he’s leaving
i just have to accept this.
a/n omg💀 im so sorry for the long ass break, i had a hell of a lot of exams this january, but thankfully i have a week off next week (and then more exams😀🔫)
i hope you enjoyed this part and i can assure you that the next 2 will be out v soon after these😉
also lets just all ignore that i forgot to change the times on the group chat texts-

Challenge Accepted, p.2
Jake "Hangman" Seresin
You don't date military men because your dad was a Marine and abandoned you and your mom. Could Hangman change that?
It had been a week since then.
And Hangman missed you.
The second Hangman came into the Hard Deck a day later and asked Penny when you were coming in, she said you weren't. You were off because exams that week but that you said to tell everyone thank you again for helping you.
He had been bugging Penny for your number, but she wasn't going to budge.
So he turned to Phoenix.
"If you're going to ask for the fourth time this week, I'm reporting you."
"Lighten up, Phoenix. I just want to talk to the pretty lady - check up on her," He insisted, and it was true. But his mind was drawn to the fact that you weren't immediately available for him, and he was determined to have you in his bed.
"I went to her place, and she's fine. And she doesn't need you distracting her."
"What is she going to school for?" Bob inquired.
"Clinical Psychology."
"Maybe she could fix me," Hangman smirked, raising his hands up in surrender when Phoenix threw a glare at him.
"I'm serious, Seresin," Now that caught his attention, "She's been hurt before, and she refuses to date any military. Once she's graduated, she's leaving. And she doesn't so casual sex either."
"She's the exact opposite of Hangman," Rooster boasted as he made his way over to the group.
Hangman continued on with his game of pool but couldn't get his mind off of (Y/N). Who could hurt a girl so much that she refuses to ever lay hands on any military again? Then again, he's met some grade A assholes in his time. But she had real goals, and seemed like a sweet girl. Sure, he could say that most girls he hooked up with weren't all that bright or never mentioned their aspirations to him, but he did imagine one day he'd stop.
For the right person.
What he is proud to say is that he's never cheated. His momma raised him better than that, and he knew she'd disown him the second he ever hurt any woman.
"(Y/N)?" His head snapped up as he hears your name and sees Phoenix on the phone.
He makes his way around the table before catching Phoenix off guard by grabbing her phone and making a bee line outside.
"Hangman, i'm gonna kill you!"
"Nat?" Your voice came through the phone as he locked himself in his car, smiling at Phoenix who flipped him off.
"Hey gorgeous," Hearing his voice through the phone brought butterflies to your stomach.
"How's school treating you?"
"Better than being in the heat, that's for sure," Your small laugh made him smile, "Nat told me about your pushups."
"I'd be able to tell you myself if I could have your number."
Your cheeks warmed at that but you knew his reputation well.
"As cute as you are, I'm looking for something serious. And you know I'm not that type of girl," You couldn't give him anymore of an ego boost by saying just how hot you thought he was, but let him down gently.
"We could be friends," He said and could feel your eyes roll through the phone.
"I'm serious darlin', I'm only here for a couple of weeks and then I'm off," Right. He was only in San Diego because of a mission.
"And if we happen to be the same place, I could always show you around. Can't be stationed without a traveling buddy, after all."
Your silence didn't bring him any solace. You were thinking about it, and even if his tone held some amount of flirting, you both knew you'd only see eachother for a short amount of time.
"Okay, but no funny business."
"Yes ma'am, no funny business. Will I be seeing you today?" You cursed yourself for letting that slight southern drawl make your head spin.
"Nope, I still have a test at seven today. But I'll be working tomorrow."
"Then I'll be there. See you, gorgeous."
"See you, Bagman."
And you hung up. You knew this was stupid. He's a flirt, he has a reputation for getting into any girls pants that he lays his sights on, and you were already flustered at his advances. But you got the feeling that he'd obey your boundaries, and even if you caught feelings, you'd never see him again anyways.
___
You were on your usual morning run along the beach and decided to show off a bit. You had gotten your grades in and you passed with flying colors, so you decided to hit up the Hard Deck later tonight.
You wore spandex and a sports bra, taking your usual route when you saw some guys playing football on the beach. Before you could get any closer, you stopped to check how many miles you had done.
"Well, well, well, look whose here. Want me to go say hi for you, Hangman?" Rooster teased with a smile as he looked to see you. He's seen many naked women, but just you in a sports bra and spandex shorts made him almost lose his breathe.
Why was Hangman already in so awe of you? Well, despite your initial boundaries, you kinda already broke it a few days ago.
"Hangman!"
"Yes, dollface?"
"Give it back! I need to finish that for class!" You indeed did come to the Hard Deck but brought your laptop for class's. You weren't working but wanted to see them, but also had a paper due in a few days.
"It says. . .not due till the twenty-first, and it's the fifteenth, last I checked," He pulled his usual cheeky smile as he held the laptop above you.
"What do I have to do to get it back?"
"Kick him in the balls!" Rooster shouted, earning laughs from the group.
"Sounds tempting," You grinned, crossing your arms.
"I'll give it back if you dance with me," You looked around, and there were some patrons but enough to where people would stare and you shifted.
"Infront of everyone?" You questioned, and seeing your discomfort, he was discouraged but then came up with an idea. He snapped the laptop shut and set it down behind the bar before grabbing your hand and rushing to the jewkbox.
"Not just us. They'll all be dancing, right guys?" Hangman shouted at them, looking at them like 'I'll pay for this later but please do this'.
"Hell yeah! I'm the best dance partner ever. Come on, Bob," Fanboy grabbed Bob.
"Wait, what?" And Bob looked horrified.
"Come on Phoenix, you too."
"Touch me and I'll cut your hand off."
"I've heard worse from Rooster."
"Fine, but I pick," And you were lucky enough that this wasn't just oldie songs because once Cruel Summer by Taylor Swift came on, he grabbed your hand and spun you into him.
"How fitting. Trying to tell me something, (Y/N)?" He grinned down at you.
"I don't know. What do those Aviator instincts tell you?" It was better than any school dance you've been to. You couldn't count the amount of times he spun you around, pulled you close to him, and laughed as you stepped on his shoes. It was just pure fun, and it was supposed to just be that.
Until towards the ending, he picked you up and you yelped as he twirled you in his arms. Phoenix noticed because he's never genuinely smiled and had as much as fun as he did with other girls. He looked at you like you've been married for years and he's falling in love all over again.
His arms held your waist tightly as he stopped and realized the closeness of the both of you. You could smell the mintiness of his breath mixed with liquor and the way he was staring at your mouth. His eyes darted from your eyes to your lips, completely ready to kiss you and damn the consequences.
"You do this with every girl, Jake?" You used his name and he swore he almost did it. The way you said it, despite the fact that literally everyone else has used his name at some point, he wanted you to keep saying it.
"Only the ones who intrigue me, (Y/N)."
"Ah!" You shrieked as you were grabbed and picked up bridal style in someone's arms, and looked to see Jake Seresin himself.
"I think we have a stalker on our hands."
"H-hey," You stuttered out, realizing that this was the first time you've seen him shirtless and he's holding you.
And dear God was he sculpted.
"What are you all doing here?"
"Training," Bob said.
"And who's this lovely lady?" An older gentlemen came up to you guys, and Hangman gently put you back down.
"(Y/N), I work at the Hard Deck," You introduced yourself.
"I had no idea that Hangman finally settled, and with a gorgeous girl at that. I'm Pete Mitchell," He shook your hand, happy for Seresin but that quickly ended.
"She's not my girlfriend," Hangman quickly stopped that. You felt like your heart was just stabbed at how quick he was to make sure that Pete knew that you were not his girlfriend.
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"It's fine. I have to go, anyways. But good luck on your mission, guys. . ." You drifted off, ready to keep running and not look back.
Because Jake Seresin is a ladies man. He doesn't settle down, and you knew that.

Chapter 1: An unusual friend
I dunno, 16+ for this one? I mean, it's the start. (Just read the warnings and see if you're comfortable)
Pairing: Draco Malfoy x gryffindor!fem!Reader (+ harry)
Colour: Sweet
Masterlist
Warnings: language I guess. Kissing. none other really. Just heartbreak and some fluff for the starting chapter.
Time: Harry Potter and the Order of phoenix
Words: i dunno, a bunch but not a lot. One and a half quick scroll to get to the bottom.
Synopsis: You've had a crush on the chosen one for years now. He was in the same house and year as you were and you had the misfortune of having him at a heartbeat hearing distance for years. It was agonisingly painful. But the sight of him kissing Cho Chang sent the final blow down your heart, breaking it to a million pieces. Fortunately, a blonde haired boy will not let those pieces crumble.
You laughed joyously as you and your friends readied to leave the room of requirement. Before you came to Hogwarts you would imagine what classes in that magical school would be like but the reality of exams and hard work had crushed your expectations. But not this. Not training with Dumbledore's army. These few hours you caught between classes and homework made everything else worthwhile. You didn't know if Harry was that good of an instructure or if it was just his glistening green eyes that kept you focused on everything his puffy pink lips said.
A hand pressed your shoulder and pushed you forward. Another wonderful lesson was over and now it was time for the hard part of being a member of this elite but curiously outlawed group: sneaking past Filtch and his little slytherin helpers. Why did the only other handsome boys in your year had to be on that dumb squad? You tiptoed next to your classmates out of the large door once the coast was signaled to be cleared.
Shit, you thought. Your mind had been so absorbed that you didn't even realise you left Umbridge's book behind. It was useless but you needed it for the afternoon classes. If you did not have it, she would most definitely ask you about it and talking to her was a million times worse than having points taken to you for no reason other than that Snape hated Gryffindor.
You pushed towards the opposite direction of the small crowd of students. You reached the door just as the last of them left the room, but before you could go in, the door slammed closed.
Today is not my day, you though as the door's details faded away. You closed your eyes and, keeping your hand on the stone walls, walked across the hallway, hoping the room would heed your call and return to you. You took a turn and than felt the hinges scratch your fingers. Finally, you whispered triumphantly as your eyes opened to the sight of the newly formed door.
You opened it up lightly and walked in. It wasn't like you to be loud, but this time this trait would not be at your advantage. The weakened sound of talking echoed in the walls. Someone was still inside. You found your book quickly, but never tried to reach it. Just a few feet next to it stood Harry and Cho, under a newly grown mistletoe, closing in for a kiss.
Their lips touched and your heart broke. That beautiful boy whose smile filled you with joy even when you were at your lowest, who was always so brave and kind and sweet, whom you dreamed about when you drifted off to your most precious dreams, had now chosen someone else. You could not help the tears burn their way out of your eyes and slide down your rosey cheeks. "No". The word kept repeatimg inside your head, feeding you with more and more tears. And yet, you made no sound of crying. Your body seemed to instinctively fear drawing attention to itself. You backed away slowly. You tried to avert your eyes but they were glued onto them. You couldn't process why. Why would they want to break your heart even more by continuing to watch your crush falling for somebody else.
Your hand finally reached the door handle. You felt a thankful pull at your heart as you opened the door and left the room. The entrance disappeared once again and the most curious thought crossed your mind: had the room tried to protect you?
Now that the two of them were out of sight you felt your body surrendering its composure. No. Not yet. You would not crumble yet. Not in the middle of a hallway. Anyone could find you here, crying like a small child. You did not need their pity.
You could not stop the tears as you ran down the stairs but you did your best so that the rest of your body had no difference than when you were just in a hurry. Tears were water after all and water is transparent. You felt your jaw tremble as your lungs begged for you to leave out your sobs but it was not yet the time. Soon. You passed a busy hall, keeping your head low, than crossed the back yard and ran downhill to the lake. Your feet almost slid down the bank as you collapsed behind the cover of some bushes and a large tree.
You let everything out; held nothing back. More and more tears poured out of you as you let out your rabid emotions out of their cage. You did not need to look at your reflection on the crystal lake to know that your face had turned red and wet with your tears. You pulled your hands up and covered it completely. No one was there but still. You used your fingers to dry your eyes only for them to fill up again. You had liked a lot of boys but had imagined none of them getting close to you. Harry was different. The best of your days were with him. He was not just a crush, he was a good friend too. The fact that you also felt an undeniable attraction towards him made him the ideal candidate for your first relationship. You savored your memories and dreams of him alike. But as they say, the first heartbreak is always the hardest.
A few male laughters were heard. They originated somewhere behind you, but you had no clue how close they actually were. You sniffed, held back anything else you might had voiced, and crawled closer to the cover of the bushes behind you. You closed your eyes and waited for them to leave.
"I said go", was the only thing you made out.
A few seconds later a blonde haired head made its appearence behind the tree. It looked your way and said, "Are you alright, y/n?"
You looked at him with disbelief. The hair, the eyes, the green and silver slytherin robes, all told you that the person asking the question was none other than Draco Malfoy. But the question itself was simply impossible to a mind's comprehension to have left those blushed lips. Goodness, you thought more as you examined his expressions more. His lips were not curled but frowned, his eyebrows as well. He was not mocking you, a behaviour that would had somewhat explained the words. He looked genuinely and wholeheartedly concerned.
He approached. He pulled his robe back as he kneeled beside you to look into your eyes.
"Why are you crying?", this time his voice came out more vindictive as if he would destroy whatever it was that brought tears to your beautiful eyes. But you couldn't just forget who he was.
"Why would i tell you?", you said as your eyes burned. You had stopped everything but your tears.
Draco stretched out his hand. You instinctively drew back. Your eyes met his once more and you could tell that this small action of yours sent a dagger down his heart. So, you let yourself stay still, not completely understanding why. His curled fingers wiped the dripping tears from the corner of your left eye. He gulped.
"I'm serious", you continued, the anger your sorrow covered up until now being directed onto him, "you joined that harpy Umbridge's lap dogs, you go out of your way to make Gryffindor, my house, look bad, you call my friends mudbloods, and to sum it up you keep hurting, emotionally, academicallyor even physically, every single person in this school"
"Not you, never you"
"Oh gee thanks", you mocked, "I was wrong Malfoy, you're good"
He lowered his head. A small drop of water landed on his hand that was resting over his thigh.
"I know", he said, almost to a whisper, "i had no choice, my family"
"Is not who you are"
Your words seemed to strike a nerve on him. He lifted his gaze and for the first time you saw his eyes swollen and redded. If this was an act, it was a really good one.
"I-" he tried to say but the rest of his sentence never left his lips.
That sudden but fleeting moment of vulnerability passed and Draco returned to his more calm composure. He crawled his way to your side. His arm brushed yours as he sat next to you. You felt your heart flutter. You asked yourself why but then you remembered and regretted how human you were and how hot Malfoy was.
"I realise I have given you no reason to be friendly towards me.", he began, "but please, tell me. Even just to let it out of your chest"
You sighed. Your gaze ran away from his hypnotic eyes to the deep green waters of the lake, glistening under the afternoon sun.
"Harry kissed Cho", the words left your mouth before you could stop them, "He's in love with her and not me"
More tears left your eyes. After a moment of silence, you saw Malfoy stand up in the corner of your eye. He walked towards the lake, right in the middle of your field of view. You could hear him huff from even as far as he had gone. He kicked over the waterline, sending a few pebbles and a large splash of lakewater towards the side.
"I knew it", he said once he calmed down, "that moron had everything and he blew it"
"Stop it", you said.
"Why are you defending him?", Draco asked but you could not answer. Words could not express what your heart desired.
"I'm not I", you mumbled, "it's just that...what's wrong with me?"
Draco's eyes fixed on yours. You could feel them drilling down your soul. Your jaw trembled as you continued, "why did he chose Cho? I- why would- what do I lack?"
Your eyes plummeted to the ground. You heard the grass brush against Malfoy's robe as he came close to you again. His left hand cupped one of your cheeks. His right followed to cup the one he had left bare. And with that he gently lifted your face to look into your eyes, thumb brushing your soft skin. He bit his lip and moved his hands down to touch yours. His eyes gazed down at his fingers as he kneded them between yours.
"Do you know why I hate Potter so much?", he asked quietly
"Because he's getting all the attention?"
He grinned. "That too. I mean, he doesn't really deserve it in my opinion"
You held yourself back from telling him he was wrong. He was trying to say something and if you spoke, even more so to say something that would most definitely piss him off, you might never get to know what it was.
"But, as the years went by", he said, "i just. I knew he had your heart and it killed me."
You tightened the grip around his fingers. You had left him hold your hands without giving him any response but what he had said had given your heart no other option but to respond in some way.
"I know you hate me"
"I don't hate you", you cut him off. His eyes returned to yours, glimmering with what could only be described as relief. After a second though they went back to your adjoined hands.
"He's dead", he said, "Potter is dead"
He tried to get up but you held him down with your hands.
"I will hate you though if you do something stupid like that", you made sure your eyes were as serious as your voice.
He sighed. His thumb brushed over your knuckles as he nodded his head. He traced right over the light red scar of yours that read
I will not spread false rumors
You looked at the blurred sun that shone behind the clouds, lowering further towards the mountaintops.
"We should go to HER class.", you said after clearing your throat.
He nodded once more before adding a soft "yes"
He stood, still holding one of your hands, and pulled you up as well. When you were on your feet he pulled you closer and left a sweet kiss on your cheek.
"I'm sorry", he said
Your eyes were half closed, gazing at the lips so close to yours.
"No", you told him, "it's fine"
A million thoughts rushed through your head. What would happen if you decided to take those lips right there? It would only take a small nudge and your mouth would meet his. Your eyes, drained from tears, were the only thing painstakingly holding you back.
"Alright", he said, slightly pulling back, "let's go"
Before he could go further away from you you grabbed the collar of his slytherin robes and pulled him close. Your lips embraced his in a kiss. You tried to make it good, you really did, but you had no idea how. And just as you feared he'd be appaled by how inexperienced you were in reality compared to whatever image of you he had painted in his mind, he overcame whatever shock had conquered his senses and kissed you back. His right hand dove deep under your robes and found its way up and under your shirt as he pulled you closer. You hooked you elbow behind his nape, and stood at the tip of your toes as his back straightened up to his height. You broke free and kissed again, heads switching their tilt. His other hand cupped your cheek and pulled you deeper into the kiss. You felt yourself melt for that moment, that perfect little moment. Your eyes were shut closed but you could still see fireworks.
He broke free and removed his hand from under your clothes to place it on your waist.
"What was that for?", he panted surprised
Your combed his preety blonde hair with your fingers. "I couldn't leave my question unanswered."
You traced his cheek as you removed your hand from his hair and walked away.
"And what anwer did you get?", he cried behind you.
But he could not see your smile, nor your blushed cheeks.
Ok. It's been a long time since i've written fanfiction, i was still in high school back then. But even then i had not written romance so bear with me as i brew the relationships and their different stages.

Prisoner of Azkaban
The stranger was wearing an extremely shabby set of wizard's robes that had been darned in several places. He looked ill and exhausted. Though quite young, his light brown hair was flecked with gray.
. . . Professor Lupin appeared to be holding a handful of flames. They illuminated his tired, gray face, but his eyes looked alert and wary.
Professor Lupin looked particularly shabby next to all the other teachers in their best robes.
Lupin smiled vaguely and placed his tatty old briefcase on the teacher's desk. He was as shabby as ever but looked healthier than he had on the train, as though he had had a few square meals.
Professor Lupin was back at work. It certainly looked as though he had been ill. His old robes were hanging more loosely on him and there were dark shadows beneath his eyes . . .
A ray of wintery sunlight fell across the classroom, illuminating Lupin's gray hairs and the lines on his young face.
Close-up, Harry saw that [Hermione] looked almost as tired as Lupin.
. . . [Hermione] had shadows like Lupin's under her eyes, and seemed constantly close to tears.
Order of the Phoenix
Though still quite young, Lupin looked tired and rather ill; he had more gray hair than when Harry had said good-bye to him, and his robes were more patched and shabbier than ever.
Harry remembered how much shabbier Lupin looked these days and his dislike of Umbridge deepened even further.
[in a flashback, whilst sitting for his O.W.L.s] He looked rather pale and peaky (was the full moon approaching?) and was absorbed in the exam: As he reread his answers he scratched his chin with the end of his quill, frowning slightly.
Next to Tonks was Lupin, his face pale, his hair graying, a long and threadbare overcoat covering a shabby jumper and trousers.
Half-Blood Prince
Harry's sixteenth birthday celebrations were marred by grisly tidings brought to the party by Remus Lupin, who was looking gaunt and grim, his brown hair streaked liberally with gray, his clothes more ragged and patched than ever.
Remus Lupin, who was thinner and more ragged-looking than ever, was sitting beside the fire, staring into its depths as though he could not hear Celestina's voice.
Deathly Hallows
. . . Lupin grayer, more lined. . .
[in a photo taken during his time at Hogwarts] On James's left was Lupin, even then a little shabby-looking, but he had the same air of delighted surprise at finding himself liked and included. Or was it simply because Harry knew how it had been, that he saw these things in the picture?
[upon sharing the news of his son’s birth] "I can't stay long, I must get back," said Lupin, beaming around at them all. He looked years younger than Harry had ever seen him.
[as he appears to Harry in the Resurrection Stone] Lupin was younger too, and much less shabby, and his hair was thicker and darker. He looked happy to be back in this familiar place, scene of so many adolescent wanderings.

Trucy and Maya sign Phoenix up for Queer eye after his name is cleared. By the time filming starts he’s decided to study for the bar again and is honestly excited to have some help putting his life back together.
They tear apart his house and drag him for the fact he is wearing socks with sandles and his closet is nothing but sweatshirts and beach clothes. He Does have an old like shakespeare costume in the depths of his closet that Johnathan puts on as well as the Furio Tigre shirt. They check out the magic equipment and Phoenix goes on his proud dad rant about how she’s the light of his life and so talented and he loves her-
Jonathan takes him to the salon for a hair cutting. Under the Beanie his hair got kinda long and gnarly. He didn’t want people to recognize him and even know the idea of it’s still a little anxiety provoking. But he also Wants to look good again and feel confident. Jonathan gives him a scruff trim too and they stop at a goatee. They laugh and Phoenix sends a picture to someone. Oooh your boyfriend? Haha not exactly. They end up going clean shaven tho. As they’re walking out Phoenix stares at his phone and goes. Huh. Maybe we should have kept the goatee.
Antoni asks him what he can cook. He proudly announces he makes the best pancakes. And that he can make a few other things that aren’t blatant depression meals. That what he knows he learned cause he wanted to take care of Trucy but he’s a little ashamed at how often the priority was ‘just make sure she eats something’ because he was too exhausted for more. That he Wants to have this big family dinner with all the people who helped and supported him while he was disbarred. Antoni teaches him how to make a big roast for special occasions and some easier healthy meals for normal days.
Bobby helps him reestablish his house, reducing the clutter that Phoenix has been too tired to clean himself along with making the space more usable to the big groups of family Phoenix wants to be able to host here without embarrassment.
Tan takes him out to get new clothes. Before he does Trucy actually pulls Tan aside and says her uncle already got Daddy a new suit and can we arrange it so Daddy finds it because it’s perfect but Uncle Miles is worried he’s putting the pressure on too hard since Daddy’s already taking the bar exam for him again (again?) and-
Tan gets him a wardrobe that is more presentable and upscale for court/everyday. They ‘find’ a blue suit with a red tie. Phoenix breaks down crying and Tan is Very concerned but - No... I just... I know who made this suit. That jerk. Of course he already had a suit made for me. I love it. It’s perfect.
And Karamo and him talk about how he has all these people he owes so much to now because he couldn’t have done this without them and he doesn’t know how to even start paying them all back and honestly he was such a bastard these last few years and he’s not even sure how to stop being that person sometimes even though he Wants to. He wants to be that trusting person that Believes in people again. And maybe they all expect him to go back to being that person and he doesn’t want to disappoint them because he loves them so fucking much especially after they went and did this for him too-
And Karamo stops him and asks him if he saw the video that his family submitted asking them to come help Phoenix. Which he hasn’t.
Daddy gave up everything for me. To make sure I grew up happy and loved and he did. He’s the best Daddy in the world. And I want him to be happy. Just as happy as he’s made me.
Nick’s been there for me, when no one else was. Just. Over and over again. Believed in me when no one else did. Pearl give Trucy the camera and come tell everyone how awesome Nick is. He just needs a little help remembering that. Cause he’s a idiot sometimes.
Wright is... he’s my oldest and dearest friend. He’s brilliant and kind and he saved me. And if there is anything I can do to help him reclaim his proper place in the courtroom I would do it, without hesitation. Once you see him in court you’ll understand exactly why I- Kay. Kay why do you have a camera?!
You said you’d do anything Mr. Edgeworth!
I- what is this about?!
“You know you’re friends better than we do but I don’t think they’re keeping score. And if you really want to show your gratitude, beating yourself up over it isn’t the way to do it. You could start by saying thank you instead.”
“Heh. I told Edgeworth that same thing.”
And they invite the whole Wright family over to the big thank you feast. He’s cleaned up and wearing a nice Dad sweater. He gets dog piled in hugs and then Maya yells at him for not making hamburgers instead. Edgeworth shows up a hour late with a bottle of wine and a faint smile.
“Wright I was lead to believe you purchased a suit recently? If you’re done covering yourself in flour,” I’m gonna cover you in flour. “Would you like to show us.”
“Don’t expose the kids to your suit fetish Edgeworth.”
“That’s not! Wright just-. Put the damn suit on Wright.”
“Hahah yeah okay.”
He does and everyone tells him how great he looks and damn is that a waistcoat? Someone’s grown up. And not just out.
And Edgeworth just watches him with quiet tender eyes as everyone else talks.
“Wright?” Hm? “You’re missing a part.”
“Huh? I got everything! I double- no - Triple checked!”
“You forgot this.” He opens his palm. A shiny golden badge in it. “Congrats on passing the bar exam.”
The episode is a fan favorite.
#ace attorney#phoenix wright#miles Edgeworth#trucy wright#maya fey#i feel like Edgeworth would try very hard to avoid the cameras#but also he Does want to shake all of their hands and tell them he's a big fan#why am i incapable of writing short things

Hi Em!!
I absolutely love the “meet the parents” character sheets! These backstories are so much fun and so interesting; and it really explains a lot about their kids’ personalities and behaviors. So excited to see who next week will be!
I’m finally done with finals and have a break, but at the same time I don’t know what to do with myself. 😅😂 It feels very strange not having to study constantly or do homework.
If it’s okay can I ask a request? May I have a little Rishida snippet? 🙈❤️ I miss these two ding dongs.
I hope you’ve had a brilliant day and remember to take care of yourself. You’re a gem
First off:
CONGRATS ON FINISHING YOUR FINAL EXAMS!!! 🎉🎉🎉
You’ve been working so incredibly hard and I know you did amazing! I’m proud of you! ✨
Second: I’m so happy you are enjoying meeting the parents! (Shout out to @khaleesiofalicante who prompted me to make the series)
Lastly for your request: I have a ton of dialogue scenes between our favorite “ding dongs” (😆) that I plan on adding in while I’ve been working on rewriting the beginning of the story, here’s one from that pile!
Plus an extra lil unpolished sketch for working/studying so hard 😘 and cuz -
HEIGHT DIFFERENCE *fist clench* 😂
Hope you like it! 🥰

Ishida moves to rub his thumb in between Ryuji’s eyebrows, but the assassin catches his wrist before he can get close enough.
“What are you doing?” He snips.
“You’re always scowling,” Ishida says plainly. “It’s going to give you wrinkles.”
The archer raises one eyebrow.
“You are. It’s like you’re allergic to smiling. You’re going to give yourself terrible headaches.”
“I am not allergic to smiling,” Ryuji argues.
This time Ishida raises an eyebrow. “I have an ointment that can help,” he says, “it only takes a moment to make. I can-“
“No.”
“Are you sure? Pre-mature wrinkles will distract from that well-chiseled face of yours.”
“I said no.” The archer snaps, pushing Ishida’s arm back towards him.
“Always so touchy,” Ishida sighs, “I was only making a suggestion.”
“Save it for someone else,” Ryuji grumbles.
“Suit yourself.” Ishida shrugs, turning to walk away. “The wrinkles will suit your grumpy personality.”
Ryuji rolls his eyes. He watches Ishida walk away and then quickly, when no one is looking, rubs at the skin between his eyebrows.
