My hands hold the dirt of where your bones lay (and my heart rests)
Summary- Zelda goes into the forest after years of waiting for Link’s return, only to find his remains and buries him.
I apologize for all the pain yall will read. You can read it under the cut or go to Ao3 with the link in the title!
She enters the forest near midnight, only silence and the moon’s light accompanying her. Everything here reminded her of her missing beloved- the scent of the trees, the green grass and foliage that were the same hue of his tunic, the mystery that lingered in the air just like his past. When they met she had no idea of the horrors and trials he had gone through, did not understand how a boy so young could be so reserved and mature. It was only after the nightmares of her other lives entered within her slumber did she truly begin to understand, and yearned for his return.
A laughter broke the queen’s thoughts, she turned to see its origin where she met an impish creature with a lantern dance in a stump. A skull kid, she thought. Though she had never seen one before, she remembered how the books had described these mischievous creatures to be. They were the souls of children who had gotten lost in the forest and became part of the woods, the children of the Lost Woods, and would play pranks on any who entered, especially adults. This one however seemed to hold the same playful nature, but held a knowing look in its glowing eyes. Eyes that were latched into the symbol of the royal family that was etched on her cloak.
"Even in death you didn't let go of me. Holding on to my last gift…." Her voice choked, another sob escaping her before she looked back at him and put the instrument aside. Her hands began to dig into the dirt, not caring if she got muck on her gloves and outfit. "If the earth will not give you a burial then I will do it instead."
“You have the same symbol as him,” it spoke. “You must be that friend of his, come follow me!” She did so with a thousand questions running through her mind as the Lost Woods child pranced through the trees. It recognized the symbol of the Triforce, it mentioned that he also had it. Was it possible that the him it spoke of was her hero?
You must be that friend of his. Had Link talked about her to the skull kid? So much that it knew who she was to him by just the symbol? So many questions, with only the hope that they would be answered once they reached their destination.
The skull kid then stopped by a grand tree, one of the grandest she had ever seen where its roots were the size and thickness of average trees. “He’s right there,” the skull kid said pointing to the base of the tree, its voice less cheerful than before. The queen turned to look and clasped her hands to her mouth.
What laid by the base was not a man of her age awaiting her with open arms and a smile, but a bone corpse wearing golden armor and a blue ocarina in its hand. Zelda could feel tears flowing down her cheeks, that ocarina it was his. It was the ocarina of time, the very same she had gifted him when they departed so long ago. She fell to her knees, unable to keep her composure any longer and sobbed into the forest floor.
“He told me to guide the one with the same symbol as him here,” the skull kid said, “ that he didn’t want anyone but you to find him like this.” And just as it appeared, the child of the Lost Woods left, leaving the queen of Hyrule alone with the remains of her hero.
She made her way closer to him, her gloved hand tracing the bones as gently as she could for fear they would collapse to her touch. “We’re cursed aren’t we?” she whispered to him. “Cursed to never be happy, cursed to never be together.” A half- hearted chuckle escaped her lips, “for being goddess blessed we’re certainly damned.”
How long had his body laid here, waiting for her. It pained her, pained her to know that if she had only come sooner then perhaps she could have found him alive, injured perhaps, but alive. She could have saved him, and have the life they both had yearned for- but it never would be like that for them would it? They were always too late.
Something cold suddenly touched her hand, jolting her from her thoughts. She looked down to see her fingers had brushed across the ocarina’s polished surface. She picked it up and looked at her murky reflection- dirt and tears decorating her face, her hair disheveled and hid part of her eyes.
How long did she spend digging into the ground? How much of the night did she spend carefully placing each piece of her beloved hero into the makeshift grave? She did not care. She would be willing to spend days if it meant that he would have a proper burial. Zelda placed the ocarina back into his hands, leaning down to kiss the golden helmet he wore, her lips lingering, before she enveloped his body with soil.
Zelda arose from the forest floor, holding his sword in hand, and impaled the head of the grave with a cry. She kneeled there for a moment, her tears watering his resting place as she uttered a prayer to the Goddesses-
If you even hear me, I ask you to please give him the rest he deserves. Let his soul not wander with regrets but instead find peace and solace. With a heavy heart, the queen placed her hero’s shield with his blade and looked up at the night sky. Countless stars adorned the dark sea, each with a story to tell. Her eyes caught a streak of white flying across the heavens- a shooting star that held her hearts greatest wish.
“When death claims what is theirs, let me come home to him.”
                          ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Zelda…” he responded, his eyes welling up. He couldn’t take it any longer, he couldn’t wait any longer. The hero ran, ran straight to his beloved princess’s arms, holding onto her tightly as if he was afraid that she would disappear. But she didn’t, she held onto him just as tight repeating his name as she cried into his shoulder.
Nearly three centuries had passed since the day he died. His final regrets had been eased with the final teaching to his descendant, allowing the old hero to leave the mortal world and rest in the spirit realm. His corpse appearance faded away, replaced by his old seventeen year old one. It had been so long since he looked this way, longer since he was that age.
“Link…” said a voice from behind. He could feel his non-existent heart pound, his breathless breath hitching as he turned to see the person he yearned for the most in the universe.
“You’re here, you’re really here.”
“Yes my love, I am.” He pressed his lips to her head, his hand soothing her back. Oh how it pained him to see her so hurt from his absence. It was never his intention to spend so long, to be stuck and unable to move on. But the goddesses seemed to love making him, no them, miserable. Using them as pawns for their game, not caring to see the damage and tolls it brought upon them as long as their bidding was answered. But what more could he expect from deities who held no humanity.
He separated himself from her hold, just enough to face her and truly look at her. Even in death she was beautiful. Her hand found his scarred eye, her thumb wiping away his tears and kissed his injury so tenderly. He melted into her, feeling his spirit tremble with the amount of love he was receiving.
“I’m so sorry for making you wait, my dearest.”
But Zelda merely shook her head, “It is I who should be apologizing.” She let go of him, her arms crossing across her chest as Link looked at her with puzzlement. What ever could she be apologizing for? She had done no wrong.
“I made you wait in that forest for me. You were forced to wait for me to come to you while you were in agony and pain and-”
“Zelda-”
“I- I only accepted your death only after I found your body in the woods.” She held her arms closer, her head hanging low. “I never wanted our departure to be like that, I never wanted our reunion to be like that I-” It was then when she lifted her gaze up to him, her hands trembling as she held them out to him.
The late queen leaned in to meet her hero’s lips with her own, taking satisfaction at his sudden color change. Yes, they had eternity now, and nothing nor no one would take this chance away from them. “Then let us begin anew, love.”
“I buried you. With my own hands.”
He placed his scar ridden hands on top of hers, holding them and brought them to his chest. “I know,” he whispered, pressing his forehead to hers, “I was there.”
That day had haunted him. He had sensed her presence and witnessed her cry into the night air as she delicately buried his bones as the golden wolf. He begged to intervene, yearned to walk to her and lay next to her to bring her some sense of solace. But he was denied that request, for his purpose was for duty, and not love. He grew bitter against the goddesses since then, cursing them for all they had gone through.
“It’s the curse of the hero isn’t it? Dying for his princess?”
She merely gave him a sad smile. Link gingerly cupped her cheek, returning her earlier gesture with soft kisses on her cheek. “We’ve spent centuries mourning for the life that was stolen from us, so instead why not create that life now?” He could see the life in her eyes return with his proposal, with the understanding of what he wanted, of what they could now do. “We have an eternity, darling. And I will love you even after we’re forgotten and our souls become a part of the stars.”

reader who can’t stand satoru but then he gets hit by a curse that turns him into a cat. you find him, to his dismay, and take him home, only for him to realize how different you are when he isn’t around to pester you.
at first, he causes a lot of trouble. breaking things in your house, tearing up the pillows. he just wants to be a human again, but nobody can understand him! but you still take care of him and coddle him no matter how much trouble he causes, so different from how people treat him normally, as if he were a nuisance (which he kind of was on purpose). and he finds himself falling for you without realizing it.
so he stops being a bad cat, steadily losing hope that he’ll ever be human again. and satoru would be lying to himself if he said he didn’t enjoy how you stroked him while you read a book or let him sleep beside you at night. maybe it wasn’t so bad? so he decided then if he was going to be just a cat, he was fine with being your cat.
the higher-ups had taken note of his absence, obviously, and he only knows cause you’ve mentioned it to him. you had this endearingweird quirk where you’d talk to him as if he were a real person.
throughout his stay in your home as a house pet, satoru finds out a lot about you. you’ve always kept to yourself, but you vent your frustrations out to him while he’s like this, and he offers his comfort the best he can. which you appreciate, rewarding him with kisses that he secretly enjoys.
once he turns human again, by some miracle, his first thought is to go and find you. and when he does, you give him the cold shoulder like you used to, and it surprises him. before he realizes that, ah, he wasn’t your pet anymore. he was gojo satoru.
satoru realizes his feelings for you in that moment. when he feels the ache in his chest from your dismissive behavior, it leads him to starting his most important mission yet—winning your heart once more.
but this time, it’ll be as a person, not a damn cat.

Merlin has Gold Eyes: Prompt/Idea
Magic turns eyes gold. Merlin is magic. Therefore his should be gold.
They start off blue, but the longer he’s in Camelot, the more his magic grows, the more in tune with the magic inside him he is, they slowly start to turn gold even when not casting spells.
It starts slowly, almost unnoticeable at first. Just little flecks of gold in his irises that could just be a trick of the light. But then there’s more and more. The blue is turning to gold and staying that way. There’s nothing he can do to stop it.

perhaps overly rambly thoughts on the influencer arc
it is very hard to watch but i don't think it's contrary to what we know of green, and i'm enjoying it just fine.
we know green is a showoff and perfectionist. the color gang all like winning, but green likes making a big display of it too. he's quite a sore winner and loser, and hates having the spotlight taken from him when it is his.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
he loves attention and praise. and like, that's okay, don't we all? he cares about his friends in the end.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but i get the feeling that, while they love him and appreciate his talents, his friends don't really give him that big attention that he might want. they're used to him winning and being good at art/performance of any kind. it's normal to them really. maybe even a little disheartening.
Tumblr media
so i can easily see how getting that attention in the form of being an influencer is a huge thing for green. an addiction, even. he gets so drawn into it that he overlooks his friends' discomfort, so he can keep being the Perfect Celebrity, keep the hype going.
obviously this end outcome here isn't actually what he wanted, and i'm sure he feels guilt for all this on some level. but he's pushed that away in favor of the high of getting a number to go up, getting more of the spotlight. there's nothing else that matters right now but getting that new dopamine hit. again, it is an addiction.
Tumblr media
surely his friends will come around. why don't they get it? this is a good thing for him. he's winning. he's harsh, yes, but he's just trying to be successful. his friends aren't actually hurt (they are), they're doing fine (they're not), what's the issue? (everything.)
i don't think current green is character assassination - right now he's doing horribly and hurting the people around him because he is at his lowest, the worst version of himself where his flaws overtake him. it can go up from here. i have no doubt that by the end of this green is going to get some sense shaken into him and make up with his friends. like, that's just the kind of series this is.
and despite all the character analysis i just did lol - i ALSO think it's important to remember that we are probably taking every little action of these characters infinitely more seriously than the creators are. while the series sometimes dips its toes (or entire face) into being a dramatic and beautiful story, it is ultimately a cartoon, and sometimes the character writing will be put on the back burner for a moment in favor of a gag or an overall episode arc. and that's fine! nothing they're doing is unprecedented for the characters they've set up, and i think they'll wrap this up alright.

i need ghoap frantically making out against a door finally taking the leap on their feelings. need ghost grinding against soap, expecting to find him just as hard as him, only to feel nothing
and in all his wisdom and experience, he concludes soap was tortured and never told him
he’s trying to think of a delicate way to say he understands, that he’s been through it and it doesn’t change anything about how he feels (and who the fuck touched him so he can hunt them down and rend them limb from limb)
meanwhile trans!soap’s just trying to find the best angle to grind his cunt on ghost’s thigh
just it never even entering ghost’s head bc he’s never known a trans person but he has met plenty of people who’ve been tortured - himself included - so of course that’s his logical leap
soap takes off his shirt and he sees his top surgery scars and ghost asks if he wants him to kill the one who did it and soap just hums like, “actually, man did pretty good, they healed real well,” and ghost’s just teary-eyes with awe at how well he’s coping, “looking on the bright side, that’s my johnny.”
imagine he thinks johnny was fully castrated but sees he’s determined to still have a sex life with him so he buys packers and straps to help him bc hell yeah healing and soap’s just like, “holy shit i’ve never had such a thoughtful partner before, such a sweet man, lt.”
#he a little confused but he got the spirit#its so good bc it can be super angsty of ghost really dreading whats been done to his sergeant and trying to make it right#or just go full crack treated seriously and have fun with it#i love just completely oblivious ghost#in any military context hes the smartest guy in the room#he always knows the play and has more experience than anyone#but stick him in the normal world? man is Lost#ghost just thinks hes had some kind of reconstruction surgery after being tortured and accepts thats what johnny looks like#bc hes never seen a pussy before#it takes years for soap to actually come out to him bc he just never thought to#hes seen him naked theyve literally slept together what else is there for him to say#then he shows him like a family album or something and ghosts just like ‘why arent you in any of these i only see girls’#and he just goes ‘hang on a second’#soap gets one of his sporadic periods one night and panics a little thinking it would weird ghost out or remind him that hes not cis#but ghost just thinks its a normal part of such a thorough reconstruction that hed bleed sometimes#and doesnt question it when soap grabs a pad out of his drawer bc ‘thats such a good way of handling the discharge my johnnys so smart’#just really supportive ghost for the wrong reasons#coming out of my cage and ive been doing just fine.txt#we’re a team. ghost team#soapghost#ghostsoap#simon ghost riley#ghost cod#john soap mactavish#soap cod#save post

Bruce and Clark Testing Differnt Types of Kryptonite Pt.2
Bruce: *Stares at Clark expectantly*
Clark: Uhhh, how about that one? *Points to box labelled 'X-Kryptonite'* Sounds kinda cool?
Bruce: Hn *opens the box and frowns*
Clark: I don't feel anything. Maybe it doesn't do anything, like the pink one?
Bruce: *not listening, eyes closed and brow furrowed*
Clark: Bruce? Are you all good?
Bruce: *Puts his hands over his ears* Please stop talking
Clark: *Worriedly steps closer*
Bruce: *holding his hand out to stop him* No! Don't move either! *sinks down to his knees, hands over his ears once more*
Clark: *trying very hard to figure out how to help without talking or moving*
Bruce: *whispering* Clark... Clark, it's so loud
Clark: *whispering as quietly as possible* Bruce?
Bruce: *looks up, eyes watery*
Clark: *blinks in surprise before floating and, as slowly as he can, flies over to the table and closes the box*
Bruce: *buries his head in his arms, ears still covered*
Clark: *slowly and quietly sits down next to Bruce*
Clark: *Whispering* It's going to be alright, Bruce. I'm here
Clark sits with Bruce in complete silence for an hour, waiting for the effects to wear off. At some point, Bruce shifts so that his head rests on Clark's chest, allowing him to listen to his heartbeat and block out the noise.

Cheating Death Part 2
Part 1 here.
Only seconds after Lena vanished in the portal, the Kryptonite cage melted into the floor. A yellow light pulsed so brightly, Kara had to close her eyes. Light infused her cells and pushed the pain of the Kryptonite away.
Lena's words echoed in Kara's head. How she'd stomped and shouted, the tears on her face, the desperation in her voice. How heartbroken she'd been when she'd said, "No, no you don't get to tell me who I am anymore."
She didn't know what to do. Lena had been hurting and grieving this entire time, and what had she and her friends done? Celebrated her brother's death, ignored Lena's increasingly isolating behaviors, and pretended everything was fine.
It wasn't fine.
Yet, the yellow light. Why had that activated? Was it Lena or the Fortress?
Kara ran through the Fortress to the control panel. She dug into the log and swiftly found Lena's code. It had been programmed to create the cage if Kara asked about Myriad, but then the yellow light was also programmed to heal Kara after Lena escaped. A note was annotated on that section of the code, and Kara's breath caught in her throat.
"I wish I could stop loving you. This hurts worse than death."
Tears dampened her cheeks and she wiped them away. What would she tell Alex? How can she explain any of this?
She didn't want her friends to turn on Lena, and Alex definitely would go after Lena if she knew about the cage. It'd been temporary, and Lena had programed a healing sun-bed equivalent burst for after. That alone gave her hope that she could still reach Lena.
Because even in her heartbreak, Lena did not want Kara dead.
She grabbed the weapon she needed, the same one Lena had used to stop Leviathan from killing Kara, and re-calibrated security. Her tears froze on her cheeks by the time she finished.
Kara flew out of the Fortress and high into the stratosphere. She listened for Lena's heartbeat, but heard nothing at first. Fear clenched her heart. Either Lena hid behind lead, or something terrible had gone wrong since she'd left. She hoped it was the former.
With a heavy heart, she flew to the DEO. Alex waited on a balcony.
"Kara?" Alex said, alarmed. "What the hell happened? Where's Lena?"
Kara held out the weapon. "It works as hoped. Sustained blast will keep Rama Khan down, and then attach the power dampeners."
Alex took the weapon with a frown. "Kara, what happened to Lena? Where is she?"
Kara shook her head. She couldn't voice it. She refused to believe Lena was lost to them. There had to be a way to save her, to bring her back, to repair what Kara had fucked up.
She pressed her hands against her face and flinched when Alex tried to touch her shoulder. "I got to find her," she whispered. "I got to make things right. I got to."
"Kara, I can't help if you don't tell me." Alex's voice held kindness, but Kara knew how quickly Alex could turn to anger. When it came to Kara's safety, Alex might cross a line she'd regret. Kara had done it for Alex a few times.
But with Lena? Kara had no boundaries. Lena held her heart in a way no one else did. She'd talked herself into settling for Mon-el, but it'd never been who she needed.
She needed Lena.
"Kara?" Alex tried again. "Kara, talk to me."
"She's the one who shot Lex." The words felt unreal.
Alex's brow wrinkled. "I thought he died when he fell."
Kara shook her head. "We never found a body or even parts from his suit, remember? If he had a portal watch, he could have gone anywhere."
Alex sucked in a breath. "And Lena was waiting for him?"
Kara nodded. "She shot him to protect us. She's been grieving and hurting all this time, and what have we done? Ignored her grief! Where were we for her pain?" She paced the balcony as fury at herself and everyone around her built up in her sternum. "I hurt her! I hurt her with my lies, and I have to fix this."
"Kara," Alex hefted the weapon. "Maybe let Lena have her space. We still have to deal with--"
"Alex, you didn't hear her!" Her pacing quickened and a groove appeared in the concrete from her superspeed.
Kara should tell Alex, and yet she couldn't. She needed to save Lena from Myriad herself, but to do that, she needed to find Lena. And she still couldn't hear her heartbeat.
She let out a shout of rage, her fist colliding with the wall and shattering the concrete. "I hurt the person I love! I have to fix this. I have to bring her back."
Her rage petered into sobs, and she fell to her knees.
Her, the strongest and fastest on the planet, brought to her knees by a Luthor.
She thinks of all the times she could have told Lena, and how she'd chickened out, afraid of losing her. Afraid of living a life without Lena's presence. Now a Lena-shaped hole had been carved in her chest, and she hurt.
It felt like Kryptonite all over again.
Was this how Lena had felt the past few months? This agony?
And yet, Lena had still helped. She'd still saved Kara's life. Still built devices that helped others. Why Myriad? Why use that monstrous device? Kara couldn't make sense of it. The months of pretending to be Kara's friend.
She should be angry at Lena. Furious at the betrayal, but she felt only grief. She'd started this with her lies, with leaving Lena in the dark. Lena could have helped so much more if she'd been in on it from the start. Then this never would have happened.
Kara sat there, silent, head-bowed long enough for Alex to leave and return with a cup of herbal tea. Rooibos since most other teas were too intense thanks to Kara's supertaste. Her fingers curled around the warm cup.
"I tasked Brainy and J'onn with the weapons. We'll deal with Leviathan." Alex smiled and squeezed Kara's shoulder. "You do what you need to do, Kara. I'm with you, okay?"
Kara nodded numbly. She sipped the tea and slowly became aware of a high-pitched beeping. "Wait, that's the signal watch," she murmured. She put down the cup and listened. It came from downtown. "Lena," she whispered.
Before Alex could respond, Kara blasted into the sky and broke the sound barrier. The crack whipped across the city and shook windows. She landed on Lena's balcony at L-Corp, ripped open the door, and dashed into a dark room. The beeping came from the stairwell.
Horror twisted her gut. She supersped down the stairs, all forty-three flights, until she reached the stairs just below ground level near the door to security.
She threw open the door and the thick scent of iron assaulted her nose.
Eve lay in a pool of blood, no heartbeat. Someone dressed in black lay crumbled near Eve, again no heartbeat. Blood coated the stairs from where Lena must have crawled.
Lena, her Lena, lay motionless, one hand on the top step. For a horrifyingly long second, Kara couldn't hear a heartbeat. She dropped next to Lena and pressed her fingers against Lena's pulse point.
No, there it was.
A faint badum-badum, the most precious sound in the universe.
She could do nothing for the others, but she still had a chance to save Lena. A scan of her body revealed the bullet in her side, how it pierced a lung.
Kara gathered Lena into her arms, and ran through the security sector, hitting each door with her shoulder to wrench it open, until she finally made her way outside.
Lena's blood soaked into her suit, her head rolling in Kara's arms. She held her close and flew as fast as she dared toward the DEO. "Lena, please," she whispered, "please hold on. Don't you dare die on me. Not now. Not like this."
When her feet touched down, she heard Alex's voice shouting about a Rama Khan sighting. Agents poured into vehicles, and the team prepared to leave.
Kara ignored them. She walked through the bustle, and people parted for her.
Alex turned from where she studied Brainy's screens. Her eyes widened. "What the hell...?"
"Please. Help her." Tears clouded her vision.
"Medical now. Brainy J'onn's in charge." Alex grasped Kara's arm and maneuvered her through the mess of the control center. Technicians worked on last minute fine-tuning of weapons, and others manned screens plotting possible vectors. Activity that meant nothing to Kara, not if Lena died.
Not if she couldn't speak her last truth to Lena.
She laid Lena on the medical bed, and Alex ordered her nurses to get an IV in immediately. Kara began to pace, the blood drying on her suit. Alex cut away Lena's shirt and examined the wound.
"She needs surgery now."
"What do I do?" she asked Alex, anguished. "What do I do?"
Alex shook her head. "You can't help with this. Go help J'onn, and wear Lena's anti-kryptonite suit. I'm not sure how long I'll be in surgery."
"Can you save her?"
"I will try my best," Alex said. She refused to look at Kara, and that told her far too much.
Alex didn't think Lena would make it.
"Promise?" the words came out small, plaintive.
"Promise. Now get out of my way." Alex hooked the IV bag to the pole on one end of the bed, and rolled it toward an interior suite. Two nurses followed along with a second doctor.
Kara closed her eyes and listened to the most beautiful heartbeat in the universe -- it faintly hung on, slower and slower with each passing minute.
She couldn't stay and watch the medical team open up Lena. She couldn't.
Instead, she grabbed the anti-kryptonite suit. As it flowed over her, she almost wept again. It felt like Lena hugged her, the suit entirely her design and her nanites.
She flew outside and listened for J'onn. The fight was to the southeast by the docks.
Hadn't Leviathan been targeting Lena? She'd saved her once from them already. Maybe twice if she counted the break-in that had knocked Lena unconscious.
Now Lena was dying, and Kara didn't just want justice for Lena.
She wanted to tear apart whoever ordered that assassin.
The windows shook at the sonic boom, and the ground cratered when she landed.
Rama Khan and another Leviathan member battled J'onn and Dreamer, who had the weapon from the Fortress. Agents, with adjusted weaponry to match the power-disrupting frequency, scattered around the docks.
Kara didn't care about the risk. She didn't care about the Kryptonite weapons the assholes carried.
She crashed into Rama Khan and threw him into a dock building. The wall crumpled. "Did you hire Lena Luthor's killer?" she growled.
Rama Khan laughed and stood with hardly a mark on him and his ridiculous earth-toned suit. "Those who cross Leviathan do not live to tell the tale. Let you now join her, Supergirl." He extended his hand and the ground shook violently.
A blast from Dreamer's gun sent Rama Khan sprawling. Kara sped over and grabbed him by the throat. Her feet she stomped on his arms. "No one hurts Lena and survives," she growled. Her eyes glowed, and she let out a scream of grief and fury.
She blasted him and punched him again and again. Blood gushed from his face, but then he melted into the earth and stumbled into being a few feet away.
Only for Dreamer to blast him again. Kara pummeled him with the rage of a thousand suns. Her vision red, and the land ripped and shredded in their fight. Part of the pier demolished when Kara threw Rama Khan's accomplice into it. Another building fell when Rama blasted Kara into its walls.
Rama Khan slowed, each blast from the gun scrambled his powers long enough for Kara to rip into him until he bled from multiple places. She lost track of the others, so intent on eliminating the one who ordered Lena's hit.
"Kara!" J'onn clamped the power dampeners on the alien. "Kara, we got him."
Kara clenched Rama's neck and looked down to see the cuffs clasped to his wrists.
How much loss could a heart handle? Why did the universe seek to torture her so? Her entire planet, nearly all her friends, and now the woman she loves most -- loss melted through her crevices, filled her with a blinding fury.
She'd fought to keep everyone alive. It's why she needed to be in control, but that obsession of controlling everything, to make sure she never lost, had poisoned her. She couldn't control everything.
She couldn't even save Lena. The thought of Lena dying in surgery, of never hearing her voice again -- even Lena shouting in anger?
Her fingers crunched bone. Rama Khan tumbled from her grasp and hit the ground with a thump, motionless.
Dreamer and J'onn looked at her, but she didn't respond to their words or looks. Agents swarmed around them to secure the site, while Brainy set up the containment unit for Rama Khan and his accomplices. The ruckus roared like the sea in her ears.
She turned without a word and shot into the sky. She flew as high as she could, to where little to no oxygen existed. The fury burned in her, and she wanted to rip herself apart. She deactivated her helmet, turned off its life support systems, and let the lack of air suffocate her and her emotions.
She'd live. She'd always live, wouldn't she? While all she loved died.
She closed her eyes and let herself fall. Air whooshed around her body, screamed in her ears as she hit terminal velocity. For those brief moments, she heard nothing but the shrill wind, the rest of the Earth drowned out in her fall. A moment of release from the endless soundscape.
Halfway to the ground, she righted herself and flew to the edge of Earth's atmosphere. Again she let herself fall. For a third time, she soared high and fell.
Each time she let herself get closer and closer to hitting the ocean. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't outpace her fury at her own actions. At her failure.
This time she hit the water. She sunk into its depths.
Sea life swam around her, the distant calls of whales rippled through the water. What should delight her brought her sorrow.
No, she couldn't die. Her wretched powers, her curse, kept her alive. Kept her isolated from those she loved. Her careful, practiced control meant even in moments of extreme emotion, she still had to make sure not to hug too tightly. And kissing? How many noses had she broken?
All she wanted was Lena. Even if she could never be with Lena, she needed Lena to be alive. To be healthy and happy. Kara could live with just being on the sidelines, right? As long as Lena was alive.
She burst out of the ocean in a shower of sea water. She hung in the air and watched the waves below her. Her ears tuned to her favorite heartbeat, and there it was, faint, far too faint, but still pulsing.
A slither of hope wove into Kara's wretched spirit. She flew back to the DEO, the wind drying the moisture from the sea.
When she landed, Nia met her at the balcony's doors. "Kara," she breathed out as if she'd been running. "Been looking everywhere."
Kara crossed her arms over her chest. "What do you want?"
"It's Lena. Alex said to let you know the surgery is ongoing and Lena's handling it like a pro." Nia met her gaze, but worry painted across her face. "Don't lose hope yet. She may still live."
Kara said nothing. She heard the rebuke in Nia's words, but she didn't regret her actions. For Lena, there was no boundaries. She'd destroy a thousand Rama Khans if it meant saving Lena.
She followed Nia down the hall, through two intersections, and into the medical bay. Most of the beds were occupied by injured agents from the Leviathan battle. It was the surgery room that occupied all of Kara's attention.
Lena's heart beat still in those glass walls.
Kara walked up to them and pressed a hand against the cool glass. Lena looked so pale. So fragile.
The tears returned. Her chest constricted with a Lena-shaped hole that ached with each beat of her heart.
She didn't move from that spot for the rest of the surgery. Kara held vigil in silence, unmoving. She'd given Lena revenge on those who tried to kill her, and now Kara waited.
Waited for hope to dawn once more.

Super Brain Dead
3/3
Danny always hoped his soulmates wouldn’t hate him. as the experiments continued, all he could do was pray and hope that his soulmates would not hate him and curse himself for getting caught by the GIW.
They were in the middle of another experiment on him when the alarms sounded. Danny was aware of agents rushing around and yelling, but he could barely focus through the pain.
The door was busted down, and he could barely make out the members of the justice league. He mostly focused on red hood, the EO signature, toxic, but real. He winced as red hood undid some of his bindings, not noticing how red hood’s eyes went wide at the side of the injuries.
Red Hood picked him up bridal style before tapping his helmet.*Guys, I think I found Red Robin and Superboy’s soulmate* was the last thing Danny heard before he slipped off into unconsciousness.
