This is my first ATBF installment of 2025, and also my first new show in a while. Hospital drama with a pretty diverse cast of women. In addition to the Black women here, there's some South Asian ladies, a hijabi woman, one I believe is Filipino + white, and Fiona Dourif is also there. I know she's not a woc, but I think she's pretty freakin' awesome and I enjoy seeing her outside of Chucky. There's a blond girl on here who was reciting lyrics of Megan Thee Stallion, I think as her mantra. It tickled me idk. As for the male characters, I mostly see white men. But, I am 3 episodes in as of right now and I have had my lil' ol' heartstrings tugged on a couple times.
Also Tracy Ifeachor in a main role is something long overdue. BEAUTIFUL. I'ma be attached to them. I'll also be available for any discussions anybody wanna have about this show.
Edit: Not the very next episode after I say you don't see much moc, every Black man in the hospital show up with lines. Lol

it’s Martin Luther King Day! 🫶🏻 (history & learning resources)

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., born Michael Luther King, Jr., was an American human rights activist, political philosopher, Baptist minister, and one of the most notable pioneers of the Civil Rights Movement (1954-1964) in the United States during the Jim Crow Era of law, which legalized segregation of Black folks from White ones, and bred many acts of hatred, ostracism, and frequent violence against Black Americans.
King was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on January 15th, 1929, to his mother, Alberta Williams King, and his father, Martin Luther King, Sr. (then Michael Luther King, Sr.). a young woman by the name Coretta Scott would be attending the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, the same time that King was studying at Boston University. they soon fell in love, married on June 18th, 1953, and in September 1954, settled down in Montgomery, Alabama.

Coretta gave him four children: two sons, Martin Luther King III (Oct. 23rd, 1957 - present) and Dexter Scott King (Jan. 30th, 1961 - Jan. 22nd, 2024), and two daughters, Yolanda Denise King (Nov. 17th, 1955 - May 15th, 2007) and Bernice Albertine King (Mar. 28th, 1963 - present).
on Nov. 2nd, 1983, then-President Ronald Reagan signed the King Holiday Bill into law. this made the third Monday in January a federal holiday in observance of King and his work. it would take fifteen years for the holiday to be approved by the federal government, and seventeen more for it to be recognized in every state. (that’s a total of thirty-two years spent by activists, fighting for it to be in all fifty states!)

“In 1963, King and the SCLC worked with NAACP and other civil rights groups to organize the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, which attracted 250,000 people to rally for the civil and economic rights of Black Americans in the nation's capital. There, King delivered his majestic 17-minute "I Have a Dream" speech. Along with other civil rights activists, King participated in the Selma-to-Montgomery march in 1965. The brutal attacks on activists by the police during the march were televised into the homes of Americans across the country. When the march concluded in Montgomery, King gave his "How Long, Not Long" speech, in which he predicted that equal rights for African Americans would be imminently granted. His legendary words are widely quoted today: "How long? Not long, because the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice." Less than six months later, President Lyndon Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act banning disenfranchisement of Black Americans.”
in the spring of 1968, Black sanitary workers went on strike in Memphis, Tennessee. these works were protesting their racist White employer’s behaviors: low pay, abusive working conditions, unsafe work environments, and union busting. King arrived in Memphis on April 3rd, to prepare for a march in support of the workers.
around 6pm CST, on April 4th, 1968, on the balcony of his second-floor room at the Lorraine Motel, Dr. King was shot by a White supremacist. his advisor and close friend, Ralph Abernathy, ran to King’s side and cradled his head.
paramedics rushed him to St. Joseph’s Hospital where at 7:05pm CST, he was pronounced dead.

“President Lyndon B. Johnson called for a national day of mourning to be observed on 7 April. In the following days, public libraries, museums, schools, and businesses were closed, and the Academy Awards ceremony and numerous sporting events were postponed. On 8 April King’s widow, Coretta Scott King, and other family members joined thousands of participants in a march in Memphis honoring King and supporting the sanitation workers. King’s funeral service was held the following day in Atlanta at Ebenezer Baptist Church. It was attended by many of the nation’s political and civil rights leaders, including Jacqueline Kennedy, Vice President Hubert Humphrey, and Ralph Bunche. Stargirl + Metakitties! Again, I heavily encourage expies of real-life cats in our lives.
"Man," Jakeem said, looking from his Spanish textbook on Mike's bedroom floor to the black cat sitting directly on his worksheet. "I wish I'd known about you before I got my class schedule." He gave the cat a scritch and failed to shift her off his paper. "C'mon Bean. Scoot."
"Nein," said the Bean.
"I think you need to ask her in German," Mike said.
Jakeem sighed. "Bean, please move. In German."
The Bean stretched out one leg and shifted just a little bit.
"Huh. Usually works," Mike said. "I'll go get us some snacks. Maybe she'll follow me to the kitchen?"
The Bean, for once, did not.
Mike elbowed his way past Courtney to get at the toaster. It was getting pretty crowded at home, with everyone already constantly over, plus all the cats that came and went but always seemed to be under someone’s foot. Usually his. Sparkle still hadn’t forgiven him for stepping on her tail. “Tomorrow, I’m studying at Jakeems,” he said to no one in particular. The back door popped open. “Look who I found down in the tunnels. Again,” Rick said, holding up the long, and long haired tabby-and-white kitten.
“Yoink!” Mike said, reaching out. Yoink looked at him, seemed to mentally count how many people were in the room, and quite literally high-tailed it out of the kitchen. He smacked into the doorframe with a little 'spoft!' noise and skittered out into the hall, sliding on the hardwood.
“Yoink?” Rick’s face fell a little. “I thought we were calling him Jax….”
“Yeah, except he kept yoinking Courtney’s jewelry,” Mike explained.
“I thought you’d rather have one of the non-criminal cats named after your old dog,” Courtney said, apologetic. "And it really does fit. I caught him with my bracelet yesterday, and Yolanda's hoop earrings are gone."
“No, it’s fine,” Rick said, brushing cat fur off his jacket. Courtney caught a glimpse of the hourglass. “Anyways… I don’t know why he keeps going down there, but it's probably not safe. We really need to block the entrances.”
Mike scoffed. "Good luck with that," he said, grabbing his poptarts and heading to his room.
“Wait, why were you down there?” Courtney asked Rick.
“Just looking for clues. Don’t worry, I had a buddy.” Rick promised. Everyone was on the strict buddy-system until the killer was caught, and no one was exactly thrilled by it.
“The cats don’t count, no matter what Thunderbolt said,” Pat called, entering the room with the enormous orange cat trying to balance on his shoulders. “ Someone, take Strider? I’m trying to make dinner, here.” He saw the foil packet Mike had left on the counter and raised his voice as Courtney tried to take Strider, who was busy trying to melt directly into Pat's skin--thankfully not an ability he actually posses, just the ability to go boneless.
"Mike! How many more times do I have to tell you, no poptarts before dinner?"
"Uh... twice?" Mike called back
“I was with Yolanda, she counts,” Rick said. "We didn't find anything, anyways. Except for Yoink."
"I do not understand that cat," Courtney said. "Seriously I think he hates me? But Strider doesn't, do you, big guy?" she asked, petting the orange cat's head until his amber eyes closed and he started to purr.
Someone knocked at the back door. Courtney frowned a little. "Who could that be?" Beth had a key, and would have come in the front anyways. The Crocks and Sylvester didn't knock. Jakeem was in Mike's room, Yolanda was in the dining room, Cameron would have texted first...
"Hi, Cindy," Courtney started, already opening the door.
But it wasn't Cindy Burman standing there. It wasn't Jennie or Todd, either, or even the other Jenny, looking for Jakeem.
"Oh my god," Courtney said, dropping Strider. The tabby gave a reproachful meow as he landed, then went to sniff the newcomer. His feathery tail brushed the door, his fur a perfect match for the stranger's hair. "Henry?"
"I need help. I think," Henry King Junior said as he staggered into the kitchen and collapsed.

I Believe In You - Chapter 2: Comfort in Control
A new year starts at the Aguefort Adventuring Academy and Jace is having a time
Halo raised a hand and this time Jace couldn’t stop himself groaning. “I get your point but isn’t radicalising kids kind of what we do?” he asked. “How do we know it’s Aguefort approved radicalisation?” “I guess that will be something the expert can explain,” Yolanda said, clearly not prepared for follow-up questions. “How do we make sure our students aren’t being radicalised if they never show up to class?” Freem asked with a smirk. “And we make no effort to make them show up.” “Fuck you, Freem,” Jace muttered. “I’m sorry, but none of my students tried to end the world,” Freem said. “Why are we all getting this lecture because Stardiamond and St Croix dropped the ball?” “Right, it is voluntary,” Yolanda stressed, trying to calm things down. “Nobody has to do this. I will be, because I think it would be good.” “Just because none of your students could end the world,” Jace spat. “Sorry, did the world actually end?” Freem asked.
This chapter starts fun but it gets heavy.

Hi! Zerrie anon again,
I don't blindly believe in other people's opinions, yes i do follow them, but i look deeper. I agree, this relationship smelled like a contract, but i have a few doubts.
First: the rumors about Zayn's cheating appeared long before they broke up. In PR relationships, everything is controlled from start to finish and every rumor is immediately silenced. If it was a set-up, their problems wouldn't come out in public.
Second: no contract tells you to get a tattoo of someone's face. And if it wasn't Perrie, why did he cover it up after they broke up?
Third: in the 3 years of their relationship, the paparazzi took fewer pictures of them than for example of Holivia in not even two years.
Besides, Perrie claimed that Zayn broke up with her via text message. If it was PR, they would have come up with something else, i mean more plain, acceptable. You don't sign a contract that will make you an asshole in general public.
To the anonymous person below. Zigi was PR. Gigi was a new face in the modeling world and needed promotion. Her mother Yolanda is the second Kris Jenner, she has a head for business. They had a contract, but they slept together. The child was not planned, but they decided to keep it. Zayn is Khai's father.
Nothing is black and white, things are more complex. Not every relationship between two celebrities is PR. They are celebrities, so of course they attract media attention. just like the fact that if two celebrities get engaged or have a child, it doesn't mean they are in love. They can have a contract, but sleep together.

I'm really not interested in discussing zerrie, because i concluded over a decade ago that it was a fake relationship, but i do understand the need for you who weren't here to dig into it for yourself. So i'll indulge you.
To your first point; Z was sleeping around yes, because his relationship with P was fake. And it's simply not true that PR relationships are controlled from start to finish. Just look at holivia and the mess of that. They can only control what they can control. They can't control everything and the truth has a way of coming out no matter what.
To your second point; Z got the tattoo to legitimise his relationship with P. The alternative would have been that Z would have to make more of an effort to sell the relationship, pap walks, PDA, events etc. He didn’t want that (it's Zayn) and a tattoo is no big deal. It can be covered or removed. He also got Gigi's eyes tattooed and you just said that was a fake relationship so. H and L also got stunt tattoos. It's a common tactic to sell a fake relationship. You can say the same thing about the engagement, that Z showed sooo much enthusiasm about (this is sarcasm).
Third; Of course we got less pap pics of Z and P than of H and OW. Z and P weren't half as interesting to the general public to get pap pics of as H and OW. They weren't even that popular as a couple within the fandom. Also, see point two about Z getting the tattoo to not have to do as many pap walks.
Every fake relationship need a fake narrative to legitimise it. They needed a reason for the break up (that weren't Z left 1D and with that ended the stunt contract with P). Z breaking up with her through a text does make him sound like a douche, and it's the perfect prompt for LM to write a fuck you to my ex song to show their girl power, which is also exactly what happened (straight from TS playbook). Cow*ll doesn’t care if Z looks bad in this, he's leaving 1D and it helps LM sell albums and get attention.
Now, you tell me why the articles annoucing their relationship happened to be posted at the exact same date as the break up annoucement articles. Screams contract doesn’t it? Also tell me why the break up coincided with Z breaking his 1D contract and leaving. Seems like both contracts were broken doesn’t it? Also please tell me what the likelihood of a Cow*ell controlled, Mod*st managed boybander dating a Cowe*l controlled, Mode*t managed girlbander is. That everything happened organically and were not concocted in Cowe*l's office to expose LM to 1D's fanbase and make them as successful, and have the good looking, mysterious one from 1D date the white, blonde innocent one from LM.
So no, i'm not interested in discussing zerrie. It's a fake relationship and one of the more obvious ones as well.

October 14th 1285 saw the second marriage of King Alexander III to Yolanda de Dreux.
We hear a lot about Alexander in my posts due to the events after his death, I will try and concentrate more on his Queen, although she was Scotland’s Queen Consort for only 4 months and 14 days.
In that short time, Yolanda carried the hope of a nation – and its king – to secure the Scottish succession.
Yolande was born into a minor branch of the French royal family, probably sometime in the mid-1260s. Her father was Robert IV, Count of Dreux, who died in 1282 and her mother was Beatrice de Montfort, who died in 1311. She had 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Little is known of Yolande’s childhood but we can imagine that as a junior member of the Capetian dynasty, she grew up amidst some privilege and splendour.
Queen Margaret died in 1275 and within 8 years all 3 of her children were dead; 8-year-old David died at Stirling Castle at the end of June 1281, Margaret died in childbirth on 9th April 1283 and Alexander died at Lindores Abbey in January 1284, sometime around his 20th birthday. Alexander’s heir was now his infant granddaughter by Margaret and Erik, little Margaret, the Maid of Norway, born shortly before her mother’s death.
Whilst Yolande was growing into adulthood Scotland was experiencing a “golden age”, a period of relative peace and prosperity. Her king, Alexander III was married to Margaret, daughter of Henry III of England and the couple had 3 children survive childhood. Their daughter, Margaret, born at Windsor on 28th February, 1261, was married to Erik II, king of Norway, in August 1281. Their eldest son, Alexander, was born on 21st January 1264, at Jedburgh. On 15th November 1282 Alexander married Margaret, the daughter of Guy de Dampierre, Count of Flanders. A younger son, David was born on 20th March 1273. With his entire dynasty resting on the life of his toddler granddaughter, Alexander started the search for a new wife. In February 1285 he sent a Scottish embassy to France for this sole purpose. Their successful search saw Yolande arrive in Scotland that same summer, accompanied by her brother John. Alexander and Yolande were married at Jedburgh Abbey, Roxburghshire, on 14th October 1285, the feast of St Calixtus, in front of a large congregation made up of Scottish and French nobles. Yolande was probably no more than 22 years of age, while Alexander was in his 44th year.
The marriage was the shortest of any English or Scottish king, lasting less than 5 months. Tragedy struck in March of 1286 when Alexander took a tumble down that cliff near Kinghorn.
There followed months of uncertainty in Scotland. She had lost one of her most successful kings and the succession was in turmoil. Little Margaret, the Maid of Norway, had been recognised by the council as Alexander’s heir, but his queen was pregnant; and if she gave birth to a boy he would be king from his first breath. A regency council was established to rule until the queen gave birth. In the event, Yolande either suffered a miscarriage, or the child was stillborn. Some sources, the Lanercost Chronicle in particular, have questioned whether Yolande was pregnant at all, suggesting that she was intending to pass off another woman’s baby as her own. The plan thwarted, the chronicle recorded that ‘women’s cunning always turns toward a wretched outcome‘.¹ However, there are major discrepancies in the chronicle’s apparently malicious account and tradition has the baby buried at Cambuskenneth.
In May 1294 Yolande had married for a second time; Arthur of Brittany was a similar age to Yolande and was the son and heir of Jean II, duke of Brittany and earl of Richmond. Yolande was the second wife of Arthur, who already had 3 sons, Jean, Guy and Peter, by his first wife, Marie, Vicomtesse de Limoges.Yolande and Arthur had 6 children together.
Her second husband died in 1345 and after being widowed for a second time Yolande did not remarry.
During her time in Brittany Yolande continued to administer her Scottish estates; in October 1323 safe-conduct to Scotland was granted to a French knight ‘for the dower of the Duchess of Brittany while she was Queen of Scotland‘.
It seems uncertain when Yolande died. Sources vary between 1324 and 1330, although she was still alive on 1st February 1324 when she made provision for the support of her daughter, Marie, who had become a nun.

BIPOC Ladies in Minnesota l here’s something to look into
ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- A Minnesota woman who grew up in East Africa is trying something new when it comes to mental health. She's found a unique way to help women clear their heads - and free their finances.
It was a rainy Saturday morning at Ainsworth Park in St. Louis Park, but women showed up - to walk.
Kimberly Steward, who lives in the city, is part of the walking club of women.
"We're all coming together with same or similar problems that I feel like we don't get to talk about on the daily," Steward said.
Steward is a busy mom who likes to make time for this walking club.
"It's very nice, very intimate, and it just gives us a chance to like let our hair down without the pressure of what it's like to be a woman and a mother and so many titles. We get to just walk and talk [laughs]!" she said.
And they talk about some really heavy stuff, as Yolanda Farris explained.
"A lot of us are struggling silently," Farris said.
Farris has walked quite a journey in life. She is in long-term recovery and coaches women in sobriety. She is also a newly-elected St. Louis Park Council member - a woman with a powerful story.

It was Muna Ali's story that got the walking club started. The East Africa native recently left her job in finance to start the Minnesota BIPOC Women's Association, hosting programs like a weekly walk and talk about life and money. She explained why walking works wonders.
"You don't have to think about being perfect at it, it's just walking, one of the most mindful exercises that you can do to get our heart healthy," Ali said. "We are incredibly interested not only in the physical well-being of our participants, but their mental health."
She says another important factor is that women of color are freely bonding.
"A lot of our women, they feel alone, they feel isolated, and lot of them also don't realize that we share traumas, that we do come from a shared background. So it validates their hurt, validates how they have felt for many years. She says it's an activity of comfort. That's why everyone is smiling when they are walking. No one is frowning, I love that," Ali said.
Steward is smiling about the group, too.

"They've shown me that I'm not alone and that there are other women going through either what I'm going through or something similar," Steward said.
"When I leave, I don't feel the same as I did when I got here," Yolanda said. "I am always focused on other people. When I come here, I get to focus on me and talk about me and how I feel, and so that's been beautiful."
"Walking with Confidence" will be going on the next two Saturday mornings at Ainsworth Park from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

DHD fluff: stargirl kids & the bonfire scene from power rangers where the kids are bonding
(set after 1x07) Rick’s the only one with a bottle in his hand, but he’s not drinking from it. The light from the bonfire--only lit after all the dead brush was cleared back well over ten feet, at Courtney's insistence-- burns in their eyes, glinting on the bottle, Beth's glasses, Rick's hourglass, Yolanda's medallion. It's high now, but there's no one for miles.
"We're a team now," Beth says, breaking the contemplative silence that followed the last of the marshmallows. "I mean... we were. but now we really are."
Courtney looks again at her bandaged hands, and nods. "I'm sorry I wasn't there to help," she says.
Rick looks at her over the fire. "Well. We had Pat."
"And you did help," Beth puts in. "You were distracting Cindy. Even if you didn't know it."
"Right," Courtney agrees quietly. She looks at the staff, leaning against the bucket of sand to her left. "And then I was stupid and tried to fight her on my own. Again."
"Hey," Rick says, suddenly standing. "You weren't stupid. That's what I would have done. What I wanted to do. She came after you. We all should have gone after her."
"Rick," Beth says softly, almost lost over the crackle of the fire. He shakes his head a little, dismissive. But not of her, of himself.
"Instead she almost killed you again."
"But now we know more of what we're up against," Yolanda says. "Henry's like his father. And Cindy's like hers. Legacies." Her fingers twist her St. George pendant.
Courtney shudders a little at the thought. "We have to stop them. Somehow."
"And we will," Yolanda says. " We're in this now. No going back. No matter how dangerous it gets."
"I wouldn't want to," Beth says, and blinks when everyone turns to stare. "What?" she asks.
"Nothing," Yolanda assures her, but the question's still there. Beth shakes her head.
"No, it's not nothing. I--I know I'm not exactly. Hero material. But I want this, as much as you do. Ever since I was a kid, I've only ever had my parents. No friends, no boyfriend, no clubs anyone else ever wanted to be part of. And then suddenly they just stopped talking to me like I was someone they wanted to be around. And--what am I supposed to do about that? They stopped caring and I don't know what I did wrong."
"You didn't do anything wrong," Rick says hotly. " They're just not good--"
"They're good people--" Beth protests.
"Parents." Rick finishes. "Trust me. I'd know. Matt was a good uncle. For the first two days. Sucks as a fake dad, sucks as a person now. I hate him, I hate him as much as I hate the thing that took my parents. But at least he didn't set me up to fail. So he's got that going for him, I guess. He's never acted like he cared. Not once. And I-- I'm cool with that." It's a lie, and the bonfire knows it. He scuffs his feet in the dirt. "Sorry. You were saying--"
"No," Beth says. "No this is-- it's good. It's team building. and it's good to talk. Really--know each other. You know? The things that bother us... The things we want..."
Yolanda tosses a stick into the fire, watching it shrivel. "I want my parents to care about me again, too. I want everything to go back to how it was, but it can't. I can't. And I--is it stupid to say I almost don't regret it? That--at least I know who I can trust? Who has my back? It's none of the people I thought it was. All those people who threw me away over a mistake. Over someone else's mistake, not just mine." She puts her head on her hands, clasped over her knees. "If I hadn't, I'd never have met you. No Wildcat. No idea what was really going on. I should want to take it back. I shamed my family, but I...." she clutches the necklace again. "I don't know what to feel about it, I guess."
"How about you, Stargirl?" Rick asks. "What've you got?"
Courtney shook her head. "You know me. I'm an open book," she said quickly, easily. "I want justice for my dad. That's all."
The fire pops and hisses, audible in the silence. Courtney watches it twist until the smoke makes her eyes burn.
