#Today's episode was. Okay.#Fun fact I had never watched this episode. Once I started but was interrupted half way through #And like… Nothing reminds me how much I'm here only for two characters as much as watching an entire episode without them. Seriously.#I wish I was joking and I wish it sounded less shallow… But it's true? I'm sorry.#I wish I at least had watched this when I was still positive towards kuniki/dazai but not I'm just ╮(╯_╰)╭#Especially since like. I know intimately how it feels to put your moral code and abstract ideals before your own happiness.#So Kunikida's character only makes me feel miserable more often than not #I'm sorry for being so negative I usually try to use this blog specifically - more than my main - as a place to be positive and enthusiast–#and keep negativity low but this time I'm failing (´；ω；｀)#I apologize #I like Aya as a character but I don't really enjoy her role in this episode specifically. There's a lot of tiny things that just bug me.#Literally the best things of the episode for me were the couple of Atsushi frames.#The fleeting and definitely not there daz/atsu in Atsushi always bringing up Dazai.#Atsushi and Akutagawa and ss/kk in the op/ed.#And Dazai messing up with Kunikida was funny I suppose pffttt.#Oh well. it reminds me of that scene in arcane with jinx, as she kept repeatedly punching the punching machine (?) in a fit of emotions and resurgence of the past. I feel like both are synonymous with the idea of being better than their past, and their past being a punishment. (I clearly love Arcane) I am not sure, but I feel like Ocha's punches come from that guilt, that even if she made quirk counseling courses for people like Himiko, it'll never be enough. Himiko was the ultimate sacrifice, and Ochako's time to truly save someone, was her telling Himiko was beautiful. I don't know, but it makes me think about All Might's smile, and how it was a symbol for hope. However, I believe that to Ocha, it's Himi's smile now. But not in a hopeful way, more of "no matter how much you saved, you didn't save the one girl who you finally saw as human". I feel like Ocha would be haunted in mirrors, but in memories too. Maybe even water? Like, what if Ocha's head is submerged in water, maybe her face got too hot and she dunked her face into her sink, and when she reemerged, she saw water drip down her face, and her eyes squinted and disheveled. Maybe, she thought of Himiko then? Or a ripple in water? Something peaceful being disturbed, like water and the smallest droplet, or your own reflection. Maybe when Ochako bleeds, and when the blood drips down her knuckles, she thinks of Himiko again. She's reminded not just of her smile, but of her sacrifice. Maybe she thinks "No matter what, you're with me now. We're together", and it can have a positive and negative connotation. On one hand, the girls are finally together. But on the other hand, the memory of Himiko, the misunderstood martyr of society, living through Ochako, who didn't have much, but the normalcy Himiko desired to have, eats away at Ocha. In a way, Dabi was right: The past never dies.
