Soda being Steve and Evie's third wheel.
Soda being Steve and Evie's practice child.
They'll get Soda his own stroller and everything and just push him around until Soda eventually runs off out of boredom (they got him one of the leash backpack things after that).

the curtis brothers sitting like little gremlins in any space is actually so canon to me
ponyboy will perch on the back of armchairs, no matter who is sitting in them (bonus points if darry's in the chair, pony will literally climb on top of him and basically sit on his shoulders). he'll lay across the top of the couch like a cat, even if there's literally no one sitting in it
if ponyboy does actually sit in a chair or on the couch properly, he'll perch like a gargoyle, and that becomes one of soda's nicknames for him
darry sits sideways in chairs, no matter what kind of chair it is, and soda will sit upside down in any space he finds, ignoring how red his face turns.
there was one afternoon where the gang stopped by the curtis house, and ponyboy was crouching on top of the armchair, darry was sitting sideways in the same armchair, and sodapop was hanging upside down off the couch. steve and two-bit let out the loudest shrieks, johnny immediately joined ponyboy in Perching ™️, dally sat on top of darry, and ace went upside-down with soda.

Headcanons about cherrycola pre canon? Like them knowing each other in school and stuff
UGH ILYSM THANK YOU FOR AAKING ABOUT THEM.
So I think they've gone to the same school since elementary school. I forget who I've talked to about this I feel like it's @girlishwhimsies (sorry for the @ pookie<3) BUT
Soda huge class clown and she was the soft spoken girl that everyone knew and liked. She would always pretend she didn't think his antics were funny but ine day she laughed and he made it his goal to see her smile like she had that day. He would write her letters and would leave it on her seat/in her locker and she would keep them in a small box underneath her bed. The letters stopped showing once they had reached middle school and the class divide was a bigger thing to them.
They never really interacted much as they got older and Cherry got with Bob so their somewhat friendship they had in elementary school was completely forgotten about. The box of letters now rest in her closet and she found them after Bobs death and she read through each one, softly crying as she remembered a time where things didn't seem so complicated. His letters were part of the reason she worked up the courage to go drop off Johnny's clothes at the curtis house.
Kinda off topic but the letters thing started in the Cherry's reaction post to the ponyboy dies au and I wrote a small little interaction between soda n her. ANWAYS ty for the ask I lovw yapping abt them.

Yeah, this happens every day, I fall in love with a different face
No matter how many times Steve convinces himself that he knows all the sides there are to Sodapop Curtis, he always manages to be surprised.
Every day, a new side to him, a new face, something different about him is revealed, and every day Steve falls a little bit further.
And tonight, you'll be miles away
He's always let himself put off telling him. Because of the stories in the paper, because of Sandy. Because he's scared. Because there's always tomorrow and Soda will always be there.
Only Soda won't be there tomorrow. Tomorrow he'll be training god-knows-where, and soon enough he'll be halfway across the world, fighting for a country that's never done anything for him.
But I cannot quiet my mind
He still can't help but imagine Sodapop running off the train before it leaves the station, into Steve's arms to tell him that he loves him too.
He can't help but imagine the war being called off tomorrow and Sodapop coming home, even if he doesn't feel the same (he ignores the squeeze in his chest and the pure painful longing his body responds with).
He can't help but imagine thousands and thousands of scenarios where this isn't a now, in front of all your friends and strangers, or never situation where he already knows the answer is never. Even if it's completely delusional.
Somethin' different, somethin' new, spend my whole life in a moment with you
He blinks and they're eighteen and Steve's graduating and starting to work full-time at the DX. Sodapop's reintroducing him to Darry and Ponyboy as his boyfriend and maybe the little shit doesn't like it at first, but he gets over it.
He blinks and they're twenty one and opening their own gas station. Sodapop's grinning at him with that smile that's kept him breathless since the sixth grade, but now Steve knows that it's for him and only for him.
He blinks and they're thirty and they're the cute couple that run a store together and share kisses when they think no one's looking. They think back to the days before they got together and wonder how they were so stupid.
He blinks and they're forty and their backs hurt so they hire a couple of teens to help them out. One of them's magic with cars and for a second Steve could swear he's looking at his sixteen-year-old self (and the way he looks at the other boy makes Soda and him trade smiles and unspoken memories).
He blinks and they're fifty and he still can't process the fact that he gets to wake up and see Soda every day.
He blinks and they're sixty-five and retiring and they never got out of the neighbourhood but they're happy anyway.
He blinks and they're seventy and their grandchildren come over and he can see Sodapop in all of them.
He blinks and they're eighty-something, going quietly in their sleep together.
Just a glimpse of a future that's not meant to happen
He blinks and Sodapop is boarding the train, saying tearful goodbyes to his brothers, making them promise not to fight too much.
He blinks and he's seeing news articles about boys like him being beat to death over who they love.
He blinks and he's looking away as Soda kisses his latest girlfriend goodbye.
He blinks and Sodapop won't give him more than a brief man-hug and a teary smile with an "I'll miss you".
He blinks and a piece of his heart is being ripped out of his chest and boarding a train.
But for 30 seconds I'd like to imagine
So is it so wrong to imagine a world where they can be happy and together?
There are millions of people, and millions of lifetimes, and maybe in one of them, I found my voice and I told you I liked you, and then came for coffee
There is a world where Steve told Soda when he first realised it, towards the end of seventh grade, when girls started paying attention to Soda and Steve finally understood the gnawing bitterness in his chest.
There is a world where Steve told Soda when Soda broke up with his first girlfriend because he thought Steve liked her since he'd been icing him out since they started dating.
There is a world where Steve told Soda that time they were studying in Soda's room and he threw himself in Steve's lap and Steve started playing with his hair and Soda let out a little sigh that just about made him melt.
There is a world where Steve told Soda when Soda started crying because Ponyboy had just explained something he hadn't understood in class for him and he'd never felt more useless.
There is a world where Steve told Soda when the police came to knock on their door and for once it wasn’t to arrest anyone, but for something worse that made Steve realise how quickly it could all be over.
In five years we're married, a house and a family
Not all those worlds have a happy ending for them, but enough of them do. Growing up together, getting married – legally or illegally, Steve isn't picky –, adopting, getting to hold hands in public...
Then I snap out of it, realize I'm crazy
But this world doesn't. This world has a dead-end road town with people killed for loving differently. This world has a war that breaks families apart, making their own tragedy pale in comparison. This world has a coward playing Steve and an oblivious bastard playing Soda and no way out.
This world has a boy boarding a train to his death. A boy Steve won't ever see again. A boy Steve won't ever get to tell how he feels. A boy who Steve won't ever know if he feels the same.
And watch your train pass me by

darry and soda seeing pony as the best of them and the one who can be more than they got to be so that's why darry's so hard on ponyboy and pushes him and why soda protects him so much but ponyboy losing his innocence after the rumble and the fire is what makes him recognize that because he's now an adult in the eyes of the book and can understand darry's decisions

Ponyboy that was then this is now headcanons
• I’m a big believer in ponyboy continuing to dye his hair blonde after windrixville for sentimentality (also I fuck with the character design aspect)
• so his hairs died blond but it’s also grown out, its the light 1960s and greased hair is becoming even less of a thing than it was before, so his hair is choppily cut above his shoulders and it has the worst grown at roots
• he is the KING of hand me downs, more so than in the outsiders because he fits into more of the clothes that darry and soda actually saved, soda’s flannels, pants, shirts, Darry’s old jackets, he owns his shoes and that it
• okay this one goes more into the au where sodapop is drafted and killed in the Vietnam war because it technically lines up with the twttin timeline. But ponyboy would wear soda’s dog tags literally every day
• more reckless than he was in the outsiders, partially because he’s grown up and partially because of his friends and the people he surrounds himself with
• his friendgroup basically consist of the remainder of the gang, curly and Angela, mark, scout, and two bits sister Brenda I guess
• on the topic of Brenda, ponyboy basically reacreats his and Johnnys relationship with dally with her, they’re so siblings you don’t understand, the brother and sister ever
• very unpopular in school, not in a way of getting bullied but in the way of a lot of kids in his grade being scared of him
“that Curtis kid who helped kill someone”
• the beef Bryon has him is entirely one sided to the point that Ponyboy doesn’t even realize it exists
• despite not having the best reputation he’s finally grown into his looks and if it weren’t for the events of the first book he would be pulling
• Him and Cathy start dating a little bit after twttin, Cathy had been at boarding school during the entirety of the first book so she didn’t have the same stigma against him that the other kids at school
• he actually gets pretty into the Beatles after he starts dating Cathy because they’re her favorite band, he likes the please please me album
• he also adopts M&M into his little gang with Brenda (pushing my M&M and Brenda as best friends agenda)
• in the end all that really means is that he helps M&M with kids picking on him (his reputation from the whole bob incident makes him pretty intimidating), M&M and Brenda also get to tag along on some of Pony and Cathy’s dates to the movies
• honestly I could talk about him and Cathy for hours but as the youngest him dating her and realizing how much she has to do as the oldest makes him gain more of understanding for darry
• also him and Cathy’s song is definitely Do you want to know a secret
@izaacs-notdeadyet because you mentioned you wanted to hear them, sorry it took me thousand years to actually get around to posting this

Sleepiness
Summary: Sodapop comes home to see something unexpected
Contains: Fluff, Sodapop x Reader, established relationship, no use of y/n, reader’s gender unspecified
Warnings: Soda calls reader “sweetheart”, cursing?, tired Soda, once mentioned people being mean to Soda :(, Soda’s the big spoon
Prompt:: N/A
Word Count: 441
A/N: Made a oneshot/drabble of the headcannons from a bit ago! Hope you enjoy :) Sorry it's so short!!
Sodapop had had a long, tiring day at work. He had lousy customers who wouldn’t stop complaining or talking about unrelated things that had nothing to do with him or making remarks about things they shouldn’t have - like how he was far too lucky with his looks and that it was a damned shame he was a Greaser or how the prices were expensive (As if he could do something about that!!) - and it had really got on his nerves (just annoyed, really). All he wanted to do was relax, sit down, maybe have a hot shower, and see his beloved.
The truck engine came to a stop as it was turned off and the truck door could be heard slamming shut. He was finally home. The screen door clattered shut as he entered the Curtis house, shouting an “I’m home!” as he slipped his shoes off, but stopped and fell quiet when he saw you. You were dead asleep on the couch, TV playing awfully quiet background noise, with his flannel draped on top of you like a blanket. His flannel.
He stood dumbfounded for a minute before a wide grin spread over his face with his heart racing and his mind reeling - he swore he was falling in love with you all over again - and he walked over to your slumbering form. The cushions of the couch dipped with the added weight as he climbed over to lay down behind you, draping his arm over your waist and holding you real close, nuzzling his face in your neck.
After a while, maybe half an hour or forty-five minutes, you awoke. Your eyes opened blearily and you had the vague notion that someone was lying behind you - as if the way you felt someone’s warm breath fanning over your neck and an arm ‘round your waist wasn’t enough to make that conclusion. You stretched/extended your arms and shifted, bringing Soda’s attention to the fact that you were now awake.
“You sleep good, sweetheart? Y’look so cute with my flannel like this, hm? ‘Should wear it more often.” Soda murmured in your ear.
You gave your response to his inquiry on your nap that was some sort of sleepy “mhm” or “yeah” and lied there on the couch for a few extra moments with Soda clinging to your form. Then, you half-reluctantly got up and did your thing of getting a glass of water or maybe a snack and whatnot, Soda still having that dopey, dreamy smile on his face after seeing you with his (albeit worn and well-loved) flannel.
