Victoria continues to say she’s ill (dipping the thermostat in a hot cup) so Jack gets Siobhan to look at her but she finds nothing (more like skivitis). Robert once again looks after Victoria. Hearing there’s a field doing nowt, Ben’s brings up to Andy about his mates maybe using it for biking as it’s good money for him.

Is Tinposie Row canon to Two Cents?

The fic Tinposie Row is... not TC!Drift's canon backstory, but it's also not not his canon backstory. It's his backstory if you the reader want it to be I guess!

The location "Tinposie Row" is canon to my version of the Dead End, so yep it exists in Two Cents.

"But the patina"

Leather patina is super easy to simulate. I'll do a little of it on my repro pair. But this set needs some cleaning and conditioning. I'd like to make them wearable for someone else, assuming I don't cannibalize the specialty hardware.

Took one of the pair apart. Simple construction, obviously wet-formed, but some interesting details.

Primarily 2 pieces joined at the back with a strip to hide the seam on the outside. Reinforcement on the inside along all edges with thin veg tan, then edges burnished.

Skivving for the seam to lay flat on the inside. You could butt stitch this if you hate skivving, I guess.

Chain stitch and tubular rivets. Signs of mass-production vs artisanal. Another reason why I don't mind pulling these apart - not rare. They have ceased being functional, so will have new life in the repros I can make.

Buckles will be easy to find - 2 sizes. Harder: strap alignment hook at the top.

Even harder still: this busk-like metal piece that runs the length of the front opening and latches into the bottom of the joining side. This keeps the opening strong.

Next step is to make a paper pattern, tweak it knowing these are a bit tight on me, and then try a mockup (foam or leather) without any hardware.

Oh ho ho! Appears Siegfried owns both riding boots AND half chaps / gaiters, as seen here. Which I absolutely can make, myself!

(Also note the production in Episode 1 changes his base from shoes to ankle boots once he gets to the paddock, ha ha. Must have learned that muck was going to get in that shoe gap.)

Compare to early 1900s half chaps seen above. Siegfried's pair has an extra buckle, but otherwise appear to be this one-piece wrap design.

This style of half-chaps makes sense for the character, given his service in WW1. See these WW1 cavalry gaiters:

Here's his riding boots, for comparison. A very similar look, but 3 buckles and it's all one boot, instead of a covering.

Similar boots are still produced today, but at $1,700 USD, a bit rich for my blood, especially given I am not currently riding:

I'll be able to make the half-chaps for under $50, just need to check if I have the correct weight leather in my stash. For best results, I'll need to pattern these to my own legs, but I am stoked to turn out a pair!

Do you guys ever think about the fact that Wylan had precious few memories of his mother?? Even though he lost her at a similar age to Jesper, who remembers his mother clearly?? To Kaz losing his Da, who he’s implied to remember well?? (I have more thoughts on Kaz’s active choice to bury those memories and his freaking constant parallels to Matthias but that’s no relevant right this second)

Do you ever think about that in conjunction to Wylan being taken abroad and “everywhere” with his father all the time?? Bc sometimes I imagine Marya standing up to Van Eck in attempts to defend Wylan and I don’t imagine that was the only time she stood up to him (her defending Wylan is probably part of why he sent her away) and I wonder whether since we know she was probably not safe in her marriage (and probably didn’t chose it based on what we know of Alys and how the Kerch patriarchal system works) and I wonder whether to some degree Van Eck separated her from Wylan as some kind of effed up punishment for standing up to him because Wylan had very clear memories of going away w his father and is implied to have some kind of photographic/eidetic memory like Kaz in the whole card counting thingy so why would he have so few memories of his mother if not because he was actively kept away from her during those periods that he still has clear memories of?? Idk but ultimately van eck is a skiv and I wouldn’t put it past him to punish Marya by separating her from Wylan and like he wouldn’t out rightly state it but they both knew that was what he was doing yk??? Anyway that’s just a theory I have

I finally had time to sit down and draw my favorite warrior !! Drift as his humanized version! The character is based off of @breakdownsbuttlights version of him and the quote from the first pic is from @weapon-up-wallflower Flowers from a sidewalk crack & two cents from a dead end skiv.

I LOVED both depictions of him by both artists, and how more fleshed out he became in my mind and yet its all the more sad that we didnt get to see this potential being shown in the comics. And yet you guys are just nuts for somehow creating a compelling human to me:) And now both of your universes have merged into one for me !

I hope to draw more of this boy (along with the doc ofc haha) and everytime i do imma credit the heck outta u guys cause pp need to see your creation!!
