something that I really love about Clarissa's DIY Wedding is that it isn't that easy to root only for Mark or only Amanda

usually in media either the guy is at best forgetable and at worst a dick and we root for the lesbian best friend (sometimes even when the creator doesn't want us to because they don't know how to write romance) or (when the creator is feeling a little lesbiphobic) the lesbian bestie is pushie as fuck and/or tries to sabotage the heterosexual relationship

but in Clarissa's DIY Wedding there's on one side Mark, very clearly struggling with childhood trauma & a messy relationship with his father but trying his best, and on the other Amanda, who wants her friend to be happy above all and doesn't interrupt the wedding even when 3 other people did it already (and some of them did it for stupid reasons)

on one side two people who clearly love each other, albeit not very well but seemingly willing to work on it, and on the other childhood bestfriends to lovers?????

and you expect me to choose? you expect me to want one to win at the expense of the other?????

I do love that the initial reaction to Clarissa’s DIY Wedding was “WE COULD HAVE HAD LESBIANS” and “AMANDA :(((” but then afterwards there was a steadily rising wave of “wait hang on can we talk about Mark. Holy shit wait guys look at how fucked up Mark’s life has been.”

head empty no thoughts just the fact that Tom decided to create his own personal rendition of Its Raining Men and Luke promptly decided hell to the fucking yeah thats awesome any chance to do this is amazing and immediately joined him and AJ was like fuck naw i cant be the only one not on stage and followed so they were all just slowly advancing on sam like a really creep quartet except with only three and how sam arguably couldve joined in but instead started backing up and screaming because his three best friends were advancing on him while singing Its Raining Men in their own special way and the way all three of them were holding each other and they had the biggest fucking smiles on their faces i swear they didnt even know the crowd was there anymore its just something random they do at each others houses at two in the morning and the way sam dropped to his knees as the other three crowded around him how they all celebrated when he sang the last bit with them and AJs little jazz hands explosion as tom screamed hallelujah and luke just beamed
