[Turns out R/n is a chimera. But instead of inheriting all the badass powers and monsters features from her supernatural DNA donors the genes cancelled each other out; making her no different from any other human...]

*Zero slams his fist down next to her as if threating to squash her.*

Nayaka, trying to pull Zero away: Cut it out! what’s gotten into you?!

[Zero ignores her and keeps roughly interrogating R/n, Just then a black and red beam was shot at Zero; nicking him in the neck. A small wisp of light bled from the cut before it closed, Zero and Nayaka saw Belial was awake; standing on shaky legs and boy did he looked pissed...]

Belial, to Zero: Get the hell away from her boy... or my next one’s going right through your eye.

Zero:...

[Zero moves his hand away R/n quickly went to Belial who gave her quick check over, before turning back to Zero.]

Belial, as he picking R/n up: Oh...And next time you pull a stupid stunt and act aggressive like that? Make sure your partner is in on it! 

{Belial jumps up towards the rooftops, hopping from building to building; disappearing into the night, Zero is confused until he looked over his shoulder at Nayaka who was shivering she was afraid of him...Zero realizes he may have gotten to carried away trying to provoke Belial.]

Zero: Hey, hey, It’s okay It was all an act...I wasn’t really going to hurt R/n, ok? It was all fake.

Nayaka: So you weren’t going to-?

Zero: No, no no...She may Belial’s girlfriend and all, but she’s still an innocent person, I have no qualms with her; I was...I was just trying to get a rise out of Belial and see what he’d do, That’s all.

(Zero grabs Nayaka’s hand squeezes it reassuringly.) 

Zero: C’mon, Let’s get back to base, No I have doubt Zoffy felt your distress. So I know your dad’s gonna give me an earful when we get back. (The two ultras fly away.)

It's kind of incredible, to look at photos of me throughout the years. I'm not necessarily unhappy in all the photos of me from two, three years ago, but I'm missing the spark of joy I have now. I look the same in all of them. Tired, slightly uncomfortable. Smiling with dead eyes.

In the pictures where I start to look happy, I don't exactly look camera ready. There's one taken after I fasted for twenty four hours, so I'm not at my best. I'm exhausted, my hair a mess and my tie crooked, but I'm beaming. Another where I'm sunburnt and covered in acne, but I can still tell I was having fun in that moment, long after I've forgotten what exactly I was doing.

I look the happiest in photos I took this past year. I look relaxed, an easy smile on my face. In some of them, my chest is flat, and I'm glowing. In others, I'm with my friends, and there's clear delight written all over my face. I take more selfies, now, because I like the way I look. I look at home in myself and my appearance.

Some of the joy I've gained recently comes from being trans. Coming out, changing my name, expressing myself as masculine. And some of it comes from finding the right people to surround myself with. Some of it has no clear explanation, but it doesn't matter. I can scroll through photos and see myself becoming happier, and I'm so glad I could go on this journey.

Soulmates AU in which when your soulmate is in a situation that can result in their death you get to see through their eyes. Like, I don't know how to explain this- it kind of flashes between what you see and what your soulmate sees. You know those edits where there's a scene going on and there's another one faded in the background happening at the same time? Similar to that. The idea is that you get to see what your soulmate sees too, on top of what you're seeing.

Now, this AU but JeanMarco. With Marco asking the others where's Jean, just for him to start seeing a corpse right in front of his eyes not even a second after asking. Seeing through Jean's eyes as he's trying to get hold of that gear and stuff. And once Jean's safe, once it clicks that you know his best friend is his soulmate Marco can't wait for them to graduate so he can you know tell him that.

Then, you know. That happens. And Jean is so fucking confused because he keeps seeing Annie crying, looking down on him. Only when Annie starts getting off the gear, when his soulmate starts moving around trying to get away he starts panicking, starts moving around faster than before. And maybe he's too late. Or maybe he shows up in time and kills the titan. I don't know. That's not where I'm trying to get, but to the second option AKA Marco pulling an UNO reverse on Annie because he's a smart sneaky bastard like that and being like 'Hey you can't kill me, my soulmate will know it was you' which makes her stop trying to take off his gear. Reiner keeps telling her to do it, Bertholdt keeps yelling about that titan coming closer, but Annie... she has seen things, at some point. Flashes of moments that weren't hers, happening right in Trost- right in that moment. And she didn't give them too much thought until that moment, until it got confirmed that it has nothing to do with her titan powers.

'What do you mean by that?' she asks, because she needs to know more. Because she wants to know more. And Marco starts explaining how it works. Tells them that he has found his soulmate, that they will put all the blame on them for his death. Reiner doesn't believe him, keeps insisting that he's playing them around - he, and anyone born and raised on Marley, has never heard of something like that before, it doesn't exist - but Annie tells him to shut up and to let Marco go. Cue to the plot of any fic in which Marco doesn't straight up die after finding up their secret.

Anyway I don't know man, just,,, We need more soulmate aus for JeanMarco. That's an order.

Are you and Fitz dating? Has Fitzphie happened yet? Have you finally kissed him? Questions along these lines are, unfortunately, quite common for Sophie to receive. Every time, she clenches her fists until her fingernails dig into her palms, and says “We’re not dating, we’re Cognates.”

The response is usually a knowing smile. Sophie wants to scream.

She loves Fitz, she does. She just doesn’t love him like… like that. The way everyone expects her to. She doesn’t love him in the way that Edaline assumes she does when she leaves them alone with a wink, she doesn’t love him in the way that Dex assumes when he scowls and mutters about Wonderboy, she doesn’t love him in the way that Tiergan assumes when one of their friends jokes about Fitzphie and he looks like he wants the floor to swallow him.

She loves him, but she doesn’t love him like a boyfriend. Sophie loves Fitz like a cognate. 

According to Mr. Forkle, the cognate bond is similar to marriage in many ways. She’s alright with that, but she doesn’t want a bond with Fitz that’s similar to marriage in all the other ways. She doesn’t want an actual marriage with him, a matchmaking list and a wedding and a house together and waking up beside him every morning. She likes their cognate rings, but exchanging wedding rings with him would make her sick.

She wants to hold his hands and do cognate training with him, but she doesn’t want to kiss him or share a life with him.

“Is this a date?” Grady asks, when Sophie mentions her plans to get ice cream in Atlantis with Fitz. His eyes narrow with suspicion. “Is Fitz your boyfriend?”

Sophie rolls her eyes and crosses her arms. “He’s not my boyfriend! He’s my cognate .”

They’re cognates. They don’t have to be boyfriend and girlfriend to love and trust each other.

She wishes more people could understand that.
