ok so another moot sent me this post forever ago abt subverting sun coded and moon coded tropes, & this is the version i'm going with for this au!

suguru is the personification of the sun; warm and welcoming and usually gentle but with the potential for great - even overbearing - intensity. satoru is the personification of the moon; a light in the dark, brings people together from all walks of life, but only showing one face to the world. i'm the personification of the stars; a storyteller, a sign of hope, fits in almost everywhere yet still feels distant from everyone and frequently lonely.

now for headcanons!

all of our clothes look like they're make out of impossible materials: sugu's look like pure gold, toru's look like pure silver, mine look like diamond dust.

sometimes toru gets a little jealous that sugu & i are both stars; sometimes sugu gets a little jealous that toru and i share the night sky; sometimes i get a little jealous that they represent things so much bigger than me (on an individual level at least); but we always talk it out (& usually cuddle lmao)

we all have animal companions! toru's is a rabbit, sugu's is a crow, & mine is a bear cub.

So... my pitch for a young, all queer, X-Men Team?

[ID: a collage of 7 marvel characters including Bling! or Roxy Washington, Morph or Benjamin Deeds, Leo Eng, Cam Long, Escapade or Shela Sexton, Speed or Tommy Shepherd, and Prodigy or David Alleyne]

this is just a silly little idea of mine that I thought to share, I don't know the exact ages of these characters but I'm assuming they are all approximately around the same age at this point, as in, somewhere in between the ages of 17 and 24? I guess? Marvel doesn't do well with ages, or timelines in general.

Bling! is tough, nearly indestructible, she's pretty powerful too. She has determination and attitude, and I think she deserves to be on a team for once.

David is super smart, filled with plenty of knowledge and skills, but he's not just smart- he also has can copy skills useful in physical combat, which makes him pretty useful in a battle as well. Not only that, but he has a lot of experience, he's been on the Young Avengers, as well as X-Factor, where he worked aside very powerful and skilled adults like Northstar, Polaris, Akihiro, and Rachel Summers- I can kind of see him and Tommy taking the lead on this team in an unconventional way.

I know Tommy isn't an X-Men character, I don't know if he's even considered a mutant? Which is fine, he doesn't have to be a mutant (Wasn't Mimic not a mutant? that one guy who was on the team one time back in the day? or was that retconned? i have no idea.), he's dating David, which means he could have a reason to move onto Krakoa, and either way he has a lot of shared experiences with mutants, being born with his powers and all. ANYWAYS he, like David, has lots of experience, and is pretty powerful. I think every team should have a resident speedster. plus marvel seems to be continuously ignoring Tommy lately, so I think he deserves to have something to do for once!

Shela is still learning to control her powers, but she seems to be getting better and better at it! And her powers can be quite useful, plus she has some experience of being a low level thief, which is awesome and could absolutely come in handy. and she has some cool tech that can help her fly?

Benji's powers aren't always useful, but he does seem to have some training from back when he was at the New Xavier School with Cyclops in charge. He and Nate have mysteriously disappeared since 2019, so it would be nice for him to come back. Nathaniel could also be an honorary member of the team who helps with stuff that isn't fighting, like using his psychometry to get information from people. PLUS Benji already has experience working with Bling!

Cam Long is a feral jock, they're currently doing Bishop's War College, but maybe they can be on the team when they get some time off.

Leo Eng is a telepath, which I think is a necessity for every team. She also seems to be a pretty powerful telekinetic? she's honestly giving trans butch lesbian vibes which I think is amazing.

Leo and Cam would be fun characters to have on a team for the first time, since they're fairly new and undeveloped, it would be an opportunity to explore them.

Valerian Thundercloud (he/him)

Age: 25 (at the time of Selenopolis/post-Wallaru/pre-Arc 5)

School: Death/Storm (Drowned weaver)

Voice claim: Lilac Cookie

Birthplace: Sardonyx, Khrysalis

Story: Originally from a lineage of diviners known for their defense contract work, yet was never able to grasp Storm magic. Sent to WC around age 6, but didn't start at Ravenwood until ~12/13 (and doesn't remember much--if anything--of his life before then). Decided to try out Necromancy thru Malorn, and it instantly clicked. He's been running with it ever since. Azteca was the turning point for his life, being such a traumatizing event in his mind that he felt even MORE dread going forward. Embraced shadow a little too hard and now has left a permanent physical change on his body/eyes. Being public enemy #1 in Novus also really affected him, and is now extremely cautious with who he interacts with (loooots of lingering paranoia). Keeps those who he was close with (the Selenopolis seven) VERY close. Like suffocatingly close. He can't lose again.

Fun Facts: Has a pet Shadow Phoenix named Roxie that is his bestest friend and worst enemy because she PECKS AT HIS FACE. Picks up on Spiralian languages pretty quickly, and can speak a decent amount of Mantis tongue. His favorite spell to use is Winged Sorrow. Guilty of still using blade/blade/berserk/AOE in every fight. Rarely takes on a Shadow form (Sentinel/Shrike abomination of a fusion) because he tends to lose control of it, and cannot polymorph back into himself. I ship him w/ Dyvim because he is so down bad for the mouse its INSANE

Lila Hexcaster (she/they)

Age: 24

School: Death

Birthplace: Chelsea Court, Marleybone

Voice claim: Luna Lovegood

Story: The Death school's resident fashionista! Enrolled in Ravenwood a little after Valerian did, and when they met in class, they instantly hit it off. She's like a sister to him. They enjoy Necromancy, sure, but her true passion is robe design. They love EGL/variations of Kei fashion (so you know she lost their mind when the Fanciful Fairy Kei pack hit the market) and are always looking for people to make custom robes for. A very positive ray of sunshine that also loves death magic. Has a pet Carnivore Flytrap named Missy that she loves very much.

Fun Facts: She's spent 40k crowns trying to get the gothic fairy kei gear and doesn't regret a single thing. She's HORRIBLE with budgeting but she doesn't really care. Her favorite spell is Animate, because she could always use extra help with styling her outfits. Would sell her arm for a Tenochti-Flan at any given moment.

Chione (she/her/it/they)

Age: Indeterminate (physically 35)

School: Ice/Moon

Birthplace: Sunless Shrine/River of Frozen Tears, Polaris

Voice claim: Lisa Hannigan

Story: A part of the Auroracle, she developed a desire to experience the Spiral the way a regular entity would. When discussing this with the hivemind, it was allowed the opportunity to take on a humanoid form, but at the cost of one of her senses. With that, she chose her sight. She is fully blind, but is still able to perceive the world with sensing the auras of others. Rarely fights, but when they do, its always a VERY heavy hit. Still part of the Auroracle hivemind, but also has her own personality. Always very soft-spoken and calm. Has a pet polar bear named Lumi.

Fun Facts: GIRL KISSERRRRRR!!! she kinda just floats around and rarely has her feet touch the ground. Loves spending time in cold environments, as it reminds them of home. Never goes anywhere without Lumi.

Llewyn Woodsprinter (he/him)

Age: 27

School: N/A (if he had to choose, Fire)

Birthplace: Last Wood, Khrysalis

Voice claim: Deckard

Story: A clumsy Burrower that resides in the Last Wood. He's an apprentice blacksmith that forges the armor and weapons the knights use, learning under his father. He, however, doesn't wish to be a blacksmith for the rest of his life. He wants more than anything to fight the Umbra Legion on the front lines and contribute to the cause, but is too clumsy to wield a sword. For now, he simply watches from the safety of Peppergrass Glen, yet sneaks off after dark to practice his swordfighting skills without his father knowing.

Fun Facts: Loves to make golden jewelry in his free time, and sells them as a little side job. Has a specific tree he loves to practice his swordfighting on. Wears reading glasses sometimes (though he does need glasses all the time). Hasn't been outside the Last Wood since he was little.

Matthias Weiler (he/him)

Age: Mid-50s

School: Storm

Voice claim: Zagreus from Hades

Birthplace: Barkeley Square, Marleybone

Story: The oldest son of the aristocratic and revered Weiler family. His mother was a retired Marleybonian ambassador to Monquista. His father, having been a high-ranking official in the Royal Navy during the Marleybone-Valencia War, was deadset on his sons continuing the family legacy of serving Marleybone. Was the more favored son over Rottingham, who was more or less doted on by nannies and their mother while Matthias got the adoration of his father and other men in his family. For a while when they were young, they were the closest that two brothers could be. Joined the Royal Navy around 18/19, with Rottingham joining as soon as he was of age (though with reluctance). Where he instantly fell into the naval life and had a natural skill for being apart of it, Rottingham hated it. He tried his best to level with his younger brother and help him wherever he could, but Rottingham always held some sort of bitter resentment towards him for being "daddy's favorite". They gradually separated over the years, with Matthias being the one rising in rank far quicker than his brother. When the shards appeared in the sky over Marleybone and the new colony of New Vicorgia was established, the Weiler family used their influence to sway the governorship decision in Rottingham's favor for the sake of saving them the embarrassment of having a militaristically-failed son, who had a slightly higher interest in geopolitics than the Navy. Being passed up for the governorship didn't necessarily bother him, but what does bother him is knowing his stubborn, reckless, selfish brother is making political and strategic decisions in a world as fragile as Novus. As for Matthias, he is still serving in the Royal Navy and is currently at the rank of Commander, heading the destroyer HMS Dauntless along the skyways.

Fun Facts: He constantly writes letters to Rottingham, knowing that he doesn't always read them; he wants to at least show that he's trying to reconcile with him. When the war in Novus breaks out, his fleet is sent out to support the soldiers on the ground. However, he refuses to assist once he realizes what Rottingham has done with trying to colonize the entirety of Novus/violating peace negotiations, thus shattering their relationship entirely.
