okay here it is: MY WIZ OC MASTERPOST *one person clapping from the back of the room noises*

i have a bunch and i never talk about them ever so hopefully this motivates me to actually yap (continued under the cut!)

Valerian Thundercloud (he/him)

(Pre-Azteca on left, current on right)

Age: 25 (at the time of Selenopolis/post-Wallaru/pre-Arc 5)

School: Death

Voice claim: Lilac Cookie

Birthplace: Sardonyx, Khrysalis

Story: Originally from a lineage of diviners known for their defense contract work, yet was never able to grasp Storm magic. Sent to WC around age 6, but didn't start at Ravenwood until ~12/13 (and doesn't remember much--if anything--of his life before then). Decided to try out Necromancy thru Malorn, and it instantly clicked. He's been running with it ever since. Azteca was the turning point for his life, being such a traumatizing event in his mind that he felt even MORE dread going forward. Embraced shadow a little too hard and now has left a permanent physical change on his body/eyes. Being public enemy #1 in Novus also really affected him, and is now extremely cautious with who he interacts with (loooots of lingering paranoia). Keeps those who he was close with (the Selenopolis seven) VERY close. Like suffocatingly close. He can't lose again.

Fun Facts: Has a pet Shadow Phoenix named Roxie that is his bestest friend and worst enemy because she PECKS AT HIS FACE. Picks up on Spiralian languages pretty quickly, and can speak a decent amount of Mantis tongue. His favorite spell to use is Winged Sorrow. Guilty of still using blade/blade/berserk/AOE in every fight. Rarely takes on a Shadow form (Sentinel/Shrike abomination of a fusion) because he tends to lose control of it, and cannot polymorph back into himself. I ship him w/ Dyvim because he is so down bad for the mouse its INSANE

Lila Hexcaster (she/they)

Age: 24

School: Death

Birthplace: Chelsea Court, Marleybone

Voice claim: Luna Lovegood

Story: The Death school's resident fashionista! Enrolled in Ravenwood a little after Valerian did, and when they met in class, they instantly hit it off. She's like a sister to him. They enjoy Necromancy, sure, but her true passion is robe design. They love EGL/variations of Kei fashion (so you know she lost their mind when the Fanciful Fairy Kei pack hit the market) and are always looking for people to make custom robes for. A very positive ray of sunshine that also loves death magic.

Fun Facts: She's spent 40k crowns trying to get the gothic fairy kei gear and doesn't regret a single thing. She's HORRIBLE with budgeting but she doesn't really care. Her favorite spell is Animate, because she could always use extra help with styling her outfits. Would sell her arm for a Tenochti-Flan at any given moment.

Chione (she/her/it/they)

Age: Indeterminate (physically 35)

School: Ice/Moon

Birthplace: Sunless Shrine/River of Frozen Tears, Polaris

Voice claim: Lisa Hannigan

Story: A part of the Auroracle, she developed a desire to experience the Spiral the way a regular entity would. When discussing this with the hivemind, it was allowed the opportunity to take on a humanoid form, but at the cost of one of her senses. With that, she chose her sight. She is fully blind, but is still able to perceive the world with sensing the auras of others. Rarely fights, but when they do, its always a VERY heavy hit. Still part of the Auroracle hivemind, but also has her own personality. Always very soft-spoken and calm. Has a pet polar bear named Lumi.

Fun Facts: GIRL KISSERRRRRR!!! she kinda just floats around and rarely has her feet touch the ground. Loves spending time in cold environments, as it reminds them of home. Never goes anywhere without Lumi.

Llewyn Woodsprinter (he/him)

Age: 27

School: N/A (if he had to choose, Fire)

Birthplace: Last Wood, Khrysalis

Voice claim: Deckard

Story: A clumsy Burrower that resides in the Last Wood. He's an apprentice blacksmith that forges the armor and weapons the knights use, learning under his father. He, however, doesn't wish to be a blacksmith for the rest of his life. He wants more than anything to fight the Umbra Legion on the front lines and contribute to the cause, but is too clumsy to wield a sword. For now, he simply watches from the safety of Peppergrass Glen, yet sneaks off after dark to practice his swordfighting skills without his father knowing.

Fun Facts: Loves to make golden jewelry in his free time, and sells them as a little side job. Has a specific tree he loves to practice his swordfighting on. Wears reading glasses sometimes (though he does need glasses all the time). Hasn't been outside the Last Wood since he was little.

ZAROZINIAAAAAAA ugh the most underrated mantis in khrysalis. i cant even tell u how much valerian respects zarozinia for everything she put on the line in fort rachias. i def like to think that she protected him in some of the battles they had when raiding the fort + really looked out for him in crescent beach when he was extremely anxious abt crossing the sea to sardonyx, so he sees her as a mentor in the fighting sense. he appreciates her endlessly <3

i got like 3 asks for dyvim so ill consolidate all of that into this one (ty for them) ^^ also gives me a chance to break the ice for actual canon valerian lore :D

okay SOOOO the short summary: valerian and dyvim are like. perfectly synced up its crazy.

long version: he always feels slightly off his game whenever hes not around dyvim because he's done so much to help him find himself again after azteca. when he first went into khrysalis, he was at his lowest point and genuinely didn't believe he could do any more good for the spiral (he half-expected to die in khrys because of how dangerous it was, and its not like he was trying to preserve himself post-xibalba). but being able to save dyvim from roze and have someone fighting alongside him (especially someone with such a drive to save his people and his world) for basically the entire way was able to reinvigorate him mentally and magically in so many ways, and they've grown a close attachment to each other that resulted in valerian being a little too dependent on him to keep that momentum going. whenever they fight, theyre somehow so in tune with each other's movements and actions that they're able to take an enemy out pretty quickly. losing him in moon cliffs had him operating out of spite thru tyrian gorge and last wood because he felt he owed it to him despite the little time they had spent together up to that point, then having to separate at the solar arc had him on autopilot all the way up until the shadow palace. he was VERY hesitant to leave khrysalis because he didn't want to just leave him behind, as he was the first genuinely close connection he had since entering the spiral. plus a lot of unrequited feelings + cheesy subtle flirting attempts between the two throughout the cliffs + fort rachias + kondha desert that ended up going unspoken for a while (def until selenopolis cuz valerian just couldnt hold it in anymore). seeing him again pre-karamelle was exactly what he needed to push through the rest of the worlds, especially with seeing dyvim so happy in a restored bastion and fighting alongside him again. they definitely write to each other, and valerian always sends him photomances of worlds that may not be accessible to khrysalis due to how guarded the spiral door is so he can see what life is like throughout the spiral. YIPPEE

for school-designated professor: im gonna go with malorn cuz hes the goat!! valerian hasn't spoke with malorn in a looooong time since he barely goes back to ravenwood but when he was new to wizard city, he saw malorn like an older brother. he felt very lost in necromancy at first, especially since he was kinda the black sheep in his family for even practicing death magic (family lineage is all diviners, hence the 'thundercloud' surname) but having malorn be there for him and guide him through the nuances and complexities of necromancy really helped him get his footing in the magic rather quickly. they lost contact after the events of celestia bc valerian was VERY locked into finding out morganthe's true intentions but he does still have a lot of respect for him, and would love to see him again to properly thank him for everything hes done :)

and my queen mellori: im not even gonna lie, at first he didn't like her company (he was kinda fed up with her when she stayed behind to talk to the auroracle bc the stakes were high) but he got over himself and tried to appreciate her company. and then mirage finale happened and he was VERY fed up with her because he thought she was being arrogant, and the events of reverie didn't help either. but he learned to understand her inner conflict and became more inclined to befriend her at the end of empyrea. hes very casual with her and considers her a friend (and now a teacher as well) all bc of the ups and downs he experienced with her :P

1. I Wanna Be Adored by The Raveonettes is SO HIM. he’s so desperate for attention and approval from his mentor that he’d push himself to (and beyond) his limits for any amount of praise/renown

30. my fav thing about him is that he has his lowest low possible after Azteca (and 2nd lowest low after Novus) but moving forward (post-Wallaru) he slowly begins to heal and realize that he doesn’t need to be anybody’s weapon or prove his capabilities to anyone, he can just be enough for himself and that’s all that matters

for quartermane: just literal constant eye-twitching whenever valerian has to be around him. if he has to hear "to adventure!" one more time hes going to lose it (/hj) but hes very neutral about him. does he think he should be getting himself into so many adventures that he has to constantly chase him around? no but ofc he cant stop him so he kinda just deals with him; he gives him the benefit of the doubt because of how long he was frozen and how much the spiral has changed (this may change once i do that quest in selenopolis but this is where he stands at end of wallaru!)

also tysm for mentioning obscure burrowers bc im SO NORMAL ABOUT BURROWERS so ill go with elizar (bc i forgot sm about alwyn im a fake fan ;-;): oh gosh. when dyvim got poisoned in the moon cliffs and valerian had to go to the last wood on his own he was absolutely so nervous to meet their leader. like he genuinely didnt know how to tell him that dyvim was "dead" per se, and valerian did blame himself for not being more careful in reeling dyvim in when it came to approaching the brood mother. but he has so much respect for elizar and how well he's been holding the residents of last wood together (all things considered). he really trusts him and his judgement, and that just reinforced his fascination and appreciation of the burrowers and their resilience :] if he ever has any downtime post-selenopolis or between arcs, he definitely would love to go back and visit khrysalis/last wood again to see them all again!

Valerian ThunderCloud (he/him): Main, Necromancer hailing from Sardonyx, Khrysalis. Early 20s. Graduate of Ravenwood, proud Shadow Phoenix pet owner, stubborn asshole who is working for the Council of Light's Luminescent Army post-grad.

Lila DuskOmen (she/her): Necromancer that also dabbles in theurgy, Valerian's close friend. Wizard City-born, lives in Marleybone post-grad. 25. Fashion designer of various gothic/EGL style robes. The silly that balances out Valerian's seriousness.

Council Agent Lakewood (he/him): Valerian's mentor and boss (and sometimes could be seen as a handler). Diviner from Khrysalis. Mid to late 40s. Doubles as a Shadowmancy teacher in Ravenwood for attack- and defense-based schools, to pick out certain students to train for the Luminescent Army's Shrike Program (LASP). Not to be trusted.

Council Agent Reese (he/him): Lakewood's coworker and close ally. Late 30s/early 40s. Conjurer. Taciturn notetaker that has his own agenda. No true alliances, but assists Lakewood in the LASP.

Luminescent Army: Council of Light's paramilitary force. After the events of Khrysalis and furthered by the events of Empyrea Pt 2, Ambrose decided to assemble graduates of Ravenwood to defend the realms associated with the CoL, although there are some corrupt personal interests and sneaky, unethical utilizations of Shadow Shrikes and Sentinels going on behind the scenes...
