✨Pre-Game: Flare was a slave to a wizard in Waterdeep. The wizard used her blood for various experimentation and loaned her body to Infernal creatures as part of deals.

✨Gotten Tattoos: Flare has a womb tattoo from the incubus that cursed her as well as Infernal sigils on each palm.

✨Gotten Scarred: Flare has bite marks from Astarion. She was forced to immediately heal any wounds inflicted from devils and bloodletting because her captor found scars repulsive.

✨A Cuddler: Only with Astarion. Flare doesn't like other people touching her and even with Astarion he has learned to go slow with her so she doesn't feel trapped.

✨Scared Easily: Yes! She is hyper aware of her surroundings in case anyone tries to touch her or hurt her. She's been able to relax with a select few that have proven their trustworthiness. Her first weeks with Astarion & Halsin were spent in survival mode, but now she is no longer constantly on the brink of terror.

✨Jealous Easily: Yes, but she would try to hide it because she doesn't want to displease her partner.

✨Trustworthy: Flare would sacrifice herself to save those she loves, or really anyone that has been decently kind to her.

I keep telling myself I'll introduce my ocs and then i remember how wild some of them are like wait until I start talking about Flare, a clown/court jester character who accidentally traded his heart on the black market and has just been. moseying his way about life unfazed. he can hold a conversation with you but he will not change his tone or expression and will leave you with more questions than you had. his joking is so deadpan he hasn't actually earned a laugh in years (this is both an exaggeration and a lie)

I think Starla would be a good match with Captain Flare of the 387th!

Flare is all about happy hour specials, and that's probably where they meet, at a dive bar on her planet (forgive me I don't know where she lives). Flare thinks she's really pretty and, after being dared by his brothers, approaches to ask if she'd like to share a drink with him. He isn't really sure what he's expecting when he approaches Starla, but it certainly isn't the fast-developing crush on this pretty nat-born woman with enough snark to match his own quips and with an evident sense of adventure.

The 387th will be on-world for a few more days, and Flare manages to get at least a full day off duty to take Starla on an adventure. Whether that's hiking or just exploring downtown, he makes it his mission to make sure she has the best karkin' adventure-that-totally-isn't-a-date ever.

And by the end of it, his crush has gotten so much worse, and he blurts out, "Can I kiss you?"

Cue the cutest, most playful long-distance relationship the galaxy has ever known. They play drinking games while apart as a way to stay connected, setting rules for one another; he sends her blurry photos of his brothers with unhinged captions, and she provides incredibly dry, sarcastic monologues about her work as a docking controller. On the few opportunities they have to spend time together in person, Flare always tries to take her somewhere new--so long as she indulges him and lies in bed for hours the next morning, soft and snuggly and warm.

🌟 "Flare had been forced to heal bites, slashes, and bruises on her skin, but they had always remained: her flesh a playground of Infernal glee." So I love this line because it messes around with expectations. Scar tissue has been cliched as a "battleground," but Flare doesn't have physical scars so I used "playground" hoping to still echo that familiarity. Playgrounds should evoke happiness and childhood joy, however Flare's childhood was stolen from her and the happiness claimed by others. I don't usually put so much weight in a single line, but this one worked out so well that I'm incredibly proud.

✍️ Being able to focus the narrative. I've reread some of my earlier work and it's messy with jumping around so which character I'm sharing the perspective of can be confusing. I like to think Branded Blood and at least the later chapters of Dreaming Doll don't have that problem! 😅

👀 So I only have a couple works posted and Branded Blood is still my favorite. Simply can't resist tiefling Astarion that's super affectionate like a cat ❤️ It's a slow burn and I've finally gotten to post Astarion and Flare being intimate in the most recent chapter!

💕 out of context line!!! I had to scour through roh for this (which is starting to get to be a bit of a behemoth task 💀 28k words!!!!! My longest project to date!!!) I have. many that I absolutely adore but are absolutely Wild out of context (entire conversation about my fantasy equivalent of weed. I'm sorry) so I offer a snippet! that has only a little context! and I will offer only a little context! the "she" they're talking about is El's older sister, Veridian, heir to the throne

"She accused us of conspiring for her throne,” she confesses to the window, back still to Zircon. A soft laugh echoes, like he isn't fazed at all. He's well aware of Rethan’s rules of succession, then. But to be so calm in the face of such a circumstance is a fascinating thing. El doesn't turn to scrutinize him, letting her curiosity brew where he cannot see it. “I’m certain I've been accused of worse, but how did she get to that conclusion?” The edge to his voice is different, like he is plotting something. It is completely removed from how casually thrown the first half of his statement is. That's not nearly as normal as he seems to think.
