In the Not Instant (But Pretty Darn Quick) Karma Dep’t, aquatic subdivision
Found while doing some casual research on the pike-perch / zander (Sander lucioperca), a favorite fish that I was lucky enough to run into a lot in Finland:
In July 2009, in a rare occurrence, a zander bit bathers swimming in the Swiss part of Lake Maggiore, sending two people to the emergency room; the worst bite inflicted a wound about 10 centimeters long. The 70-cm 8-kg fish was later caught by the local police who cooked it and offered it to the tourists for the trouble it caused.[21]
(The story was originally reported at Agence France Presse, and though no longer on their website, can still be found in French here and there.)

"Samuel Frost's wild ride through a navvy community on the European and North America [railway] outside Saint John exposed him to what the local press called "Navvy Law." Returning from Saint John at a fast clip, Frost's horses ran over a small child who raced out from one of the shanties. While he waited to see how badly the child was hurt, a crowd assembled. By Frost's account, he was lucky to have escaped with his life:
[A] woman ran out from the shanty and began hurling billets of wood sawn in stove lengths at my head, which I managed to pre- vent reaching my head with one hand, on which I received a slight wound, while with the other I held my reins, having nothing with which to defend myself. I moved on; she followed, without having ascertained whether her child was hurt or not, screeching impreca tions of revenge. Her screetches brought from their work a railroad gang, who met me and seized my horses about fifteen or twenty rods from Adams' barn, armed with their shovels, and threatening to take my life... They yelled "To h-ll with the Magistrate - you shall not leave this spot - we will have your life," which I believe they would have done, had I been out of sight of the village, as their with beings more like demons than men, my horses held fast, sur- gestures and menaces were full of revenge... Thus I was left alone rounded by men armed with shovels and spades, the father of the child, who had been sent for from a gang more distant, holding my horses, holding a club which he had brought with him in one hand, while the mother, a woman about four feet some inches height, with a waist about the thickness of the largest part of a barrel, stood with a stone in her hand threatening to kill me.
Frost ignored the navvies' warnings not to travel back that way, and three weeks later, again by his account, he was stopped about thirteen miles from Saint John, and when he attempted to arrest the man holding his horses' reins he "was set upon by eight or ten ruthless villains with sticks and stones, who abused and beat him shamefully." The Morning Freeman held Frost partially responsible for the initial altercation and suggested he could not expect to be given license to run over "a mere navvy's child." But magistrate's law found the father guilty of assault and sentenced him to hard labour.
Even those whose sympathies were with the "mere navvy's child" and his distraught parents had trouble embracing the inhabitants of navvy shanty towns as the stuff of permanent communities. As the composition of the workforce shifted at mid-century, as it became more ethnically heterogeneous and drawn from diverse sectors of the colonies' economies, public works labourers continued to generate anxiety. Contemporaries found some comfort in believing that many of the labourers were only temporarily part of the landscape and would move along. But until they did, bold schemes of colonization through public works struggled to come to terms with the labourers and labouring families clustered along construction sites and with the prospect that some would remain, like Charles and Mary Murray on the Williamsburg with their pigs and geese running wild."

Album Review: Rough Justice - Faith in Vain (MLVLTD)
Sheffield hardcore heavy upstarts Rough Justice will release their debut full length album, ‘Faith in Vain’, on January 12th via Malevolence’s record label, MLVLTD.
To be honest, there’s no shortage of quality young hardcore bands, so there’s an argument to be made that Rough Justice are really going to have to be something special to stand out from the pack. An argument that every naysayer will…

Core Gems
So when a ghost becomes injured, they have a last ditch defense where they retreat into their core. And I mean, injured badly where their body is rip apart to the point they can’t hold a solid form anymore. And they basically go into a hibernation state until they are strong enough to form again.
Ellie, Danny, and Dan are all injured in a final battle against the GIW. The organization was destroyed and the ghosts were safe but the halfas ended up being so injured that they reverted to core form and then went to sleep for a bit. When they woke up, they were still weak but at least recovered enough to gain consciousness. And realize…they are in some kind of auction…in the middle of a heist. It appeared that two furries (one in a bat costume and one in a cat costume) were ducking it out. And they…they were a necklace. All three of them had been turned into a necklace with their cores as gems accompanied by sapphires, pearls, and opals. And frankly gorgeous craftsmanship as the metal was crafted around their cores as if to cradle them and the other gems.
Unfortunately, they were too weak to take a form properly, they could still feel the strain on their bodies. But at least they could still communicate through their auras. Then the cat lady punched a hole in the glass container surrounding them and grabbed their necklace.
However, the bat grabbed the other end and it resulted in a sort of tug-a-war. Meanwhile, Danny, Ellie, and Dan were having a back and form commentary on the situation and what they should do. Completely unheard by the other party.
In the corner of their eye, the three halfas finally noticed a third contender. Some kind of clown who was…hold on…holding a gun?! And it was pointed straight at the two fighting furies who had yet to notice him. The ghosts’ protective instincts went into overdrive and they frantically tried to shout, yell, move. Just do something to warn the two but their cries fell on deaf ears. All they succeeded in doing was faintly glow which immediatly caught the attention of the fighting duo. The two turned to look at the strange necklace but right at that moment, the clown fired and a gunshot rang throughout the auction room. Having no other options, Danny and the others poured every ounce of ectoplasm they had to try and phaseshift, making the two furries intangible as the bullets passed right through them, but in their shock, the two jumped away in opposite directions and accidentally ripped the necklace apart. Gems and pearls went flying and the three cores bounced along the ground.
Luckily, the two finally noticed the clown and went to deal with him and his minions who had appeared. Seemingly putting their fight on hold and forming a temporary truce. The three halfas could only watch as the battle finally wound down, ending with the cops barging into the place and arresting the clown and his grunts, the cat managing to escape with half the scattered gems and pearls from the broken necklace along with a few other jewelry pieces (none of their cores though) and the bat leaving through a skylight.
The auction continued and in the end, despite being broken, their necklace seemed to have caught someone’s interest. A man named Bruce Wayne bought up every piece of the shattered jewelry wear. The auctioneers appeared relived that the item managed to sell in the end and gratefully gave it to him.
Bruce had no idea what happened at the auction, but he could have sworn that some of the gems faintly glowed right before he and Selina were shot. If the necklace was some sort of magical item, then he needed to understand exactly what has been brought to Gotham. It was unfortunate that Selena had taken some parts of the necklace but he utilized his vast wealth to make sure all the other parts ended in his possession. Now he would take them back to the mansion for examination.
