Ron Desantis is a dumbass full stop, he cares more about the culture war then actually doing things that improve the lives of people within Florida. The legislation would make it easier for financial crimes and trafficking to occur which is ironic given his staunch stance on drug crime. It's almost laughable how often Ron's legislation blows up in his face like when he cracked down of migrants causing the primary workers in agriculture to flee the state? The there's his disastrous presidential campaign and all that happened, honestly he's a joke which is awful considering he's governor of Florida! I hope he gets voted out sooner rather than later, but then again as long as Ron Desantis bangs on the drums of the culture war he can draw republican voters cause apparently being anti-woke is more important to the economy.

Soviet!Ice Headcanons

I've decided to do a little follow up, hope you enjoy!

Born as Toma Efimovich Kazansky in Odessa, Ukraine

His favorite food is his babushka's borscht and likes to drink more kvass than he should on a daily basis

He and his family left the Soviet Union in 1973, when he was 14 years old

Settled in New York, since it has a large Jewish population

Because of the Soviet Union's disapproval of religions (especially Judaism) he wasn't able to have a proper Bar Mitzvah, so his family quickly joined a shul so he could have one

Being Jewish in America was a strange experience for him- everyone knew how to read the funny looking words in the siddur but he couldn't, since he never learned Hebrew before coming to America. Even amongst Jews he still felt like he didn't fit in because of his background

And also being a Soviet immigrant made him stick out like a sore thumb among his classmates, who were suspicious of the new kid with the funny accent and last name. Over time, he learned how to speak English without an accent so he wouldn't be bullied

Many people have called him slurs. Over time, he figured it's best not to show any emotion. This is one of the reasons why his callsign became Iceman

The other one being that because he speaks Russian, people assume him to be incredibly stoic and completely void of any emotions

Few people know he speaks Russian. Only Slider does, and later, Maverick. Most people who meet him immediately notice the Jewish last name but don't realize right away that he speaks a different language

Preferred to hide his Jewish practices from pretty much everybody. He still observed, but only in private. The only two people he truly felt comfortable enough to open up about this were Slider and Maverick

(not so much Soviet but more Jewish, he and Mav get married under a chuppah much later in the future)

Iceman, Slider, Cougar, and Goose wear rings that show they are graduates of the United States Naval Academy, supported by their dialogue in the film and the ornate rings they wear throughout the film. I know Goose is married, but that ring is far too large to be just a wedding band. (I promise this isn't an info dump... not like my others anyway)

The USNA is an undergraduate college that is a combination of academics and military development programs. Based on the current list of majors available at the United States Naval Academy, I think that Iceman, Slider, Cougar, and Goose likely would have chosen one of the following majors: Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, General Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or Mathematics, but they could have gotten a degree in something like English, Foreign Area Studies, Political Studies, History, etc. Again, these are based on the list of current majors offered, so take that with a grain of salt, but I still feel like it’s possible that a majority of these were offered in the late 1970s and early 1980s. 

In my mind, I can see Iceman being a bit of an overachiever. He would major in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Political Science while playing on some Varsity sports team (he’s too cool not to be in). Maybe something like Lacrosse or Swimming and Diving, but regardless I can totally see Ice and Slider meeting by being in the same sport. And swimming definitely fits their vibes ngl. But also Slider could def be a true American football player and if Ice plays lacrosse (which is a spring sport) they could go to each other's games. I’m not sure if they had Men’s Club Volleyball when they would have attended like they do now, but I’m sure they would have made time to play when able. A lot of people headcanon Ice as being Russian, which makes sense because his last name is Russian in origin, but regardless of that fact I feel like he would have participated in the Naval Academy Foreign Affairs Conference. An excellent resume builder and an asset for an aspiring admiral, the NAFAC is a conference hosted by the USNA in which students from around the US come together to discuss a theme from current global affairs.

There are others, and some of these are more common in the southeastern USA (notably Publix & Winn Dixie), but if you can avoid buying from these brands, please consider doing so!

DISCLAIMER: The key words are IF you CAN avoid. Please don't feel guilty if there are necessities that you can only get from certain businesses, like pet medications through Chewy, or the only grocery store in reasonable distance happens to be Publix.
