will people ever learn that animation is not an inferior medium of storytelling and actually some stories are fundamentally much better suited for animation and trying to make them live action might be doing them a huge disservice

So I just got fired from the job I started last Monday. Apparently a group of "concerned parents" scrolled back years on my Facebook page and reported me for "hate speech". The only example of my supposed hate speech I was informed of was a graphic of David Lynch's classic line "fix your hearts or die". There were no doubt others. Post about throwing a brick or punching Nazi. The occasional guillotine joke.

My bosses, who seemed genuinely sad to see me go (the order to fire me came from the head of HR) tried to convince me it had nothing to do with me being foreign born or queer or trans.

But why else would someone spend that much time scrolling through a stranger's FB to find supposed hate speech? 🤔

Anyways I've contacted the one lawyer I know and am going to see my union rep tomorrow. This is bullshit.

I was starting to like working there.

I hate the gymbro side of the internet because a lot of it is extremely toxic but I once saw a gymbro meme that was like “befriending the local trans guy so I can steal his testosterone” and I think that’s hilarious and a great plot idea for a movie. Deeply unhappy bigoted red pill meathead gym rat starts trying to befriend a trans man to steal his testosterone and ends up genuinely clicking with him and going on a journey of self discovery that either ends in the protag realizing he’s gay and in love with his friend or transitioning to a woman.

Trans people don't need to disclose that they're trans to you before you date them but i definitely think cis people should start disclosing they're cis instead of just saying "im a girl/boy" cause dating a cis person is a commitment not everyone has the time for. Like buying a bird

90% of what people assume to be someone being "ignorant" about trans women is active malice. It's unbelievably condescending to get all shocked about how "I can't believe people would be that ignorant :(" when someone is talking about active malice that serves a specific social function.
