Terry Steven Lewis (November 24, 1956) is a part of the R&B/pop songwriting and record production team Jam & Lewis. They formed a band called Flyte Tyme, which evolved into The Time. They were joined by Morris Day and toured with Prince as his opening act. As members of The Time, they played instruments on all but one of the group’s five albums (Ice Cream Castle). They have enjoyed great success since the 1980s with various artists, most intensively with Janet Jackson. They have written 31 top-ten hits in the UK and 41 in the US. The duo were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the Musical Excellence category.
They met while attending a TRIO Upward Bound program on the University of Minnesota campus.
In 1991, they founded a record label, Perspective Records. Their newly minted label experienced success with a Minneapolis-based gospel/R&B collective of artists known as Sounds of Blackness. Their debut single, “Optimistic” served as a groundbreaking anthem stressing positivity and encouragement. Other successes followed with Blackness as well as music from labelmates Mint Condition, Lo-Key? and Solo. A highlight for Perspective was the opportunity to release the soundtrack for Mo Money. Executive produced by Jam and Lewis, the soundtrack featured cuts from Mint Condition, Ralph Tresvant, and Caron Wheeler, as well as a duet by Janet Jackson and Luther Vandross.
They have worked with artists such as Herb Alpert, TLC, Sounds of Blackness, Yolanda Adams, Jordan Knight, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Boyz II Men, Usher, Johnny Gill, Patti LaBelle, Mary J. Favourite CID Era
S4-6 also includes Don't Like Monday (Tosh's family at the bank) and Ted and Roxanne's first appearance together as officer/snout
Series 7-9 inc Viv's death, Dashers guesting after leaving, Frank disappearing without warning for a mystery job and Harry Haines arriving. Danny Pearce, Jo Morgan and Alan Woods also arrive. Jo is promoted to DS after a few eps. Jack is demoted to DCI and returns as a regular rather than guesting as part of AMIP.
Series 10-13 includes Rod being rather chauvinistic to poor Suzi who becomes CID in this series. Jo returns for a guest period and is about to move back permanently before.. ahem. The Target trilogy are a particular work of art in series 11. Don arrives in series 11 when Deakin is promoted to DI after Sally goes. John Boulton arrives not long after too and finally in series 12 Geoff and Liz arrive and Alan goes and Tom Proctor brings up the rear in S13. There is a lot of Alistair and Suzi fun however as she gently teases him throughout.
Series 14-16 brings Duncan and Kerry Holmes with Tosh leaving through sad real-life happenings and Alistair transferring as does Suzi. Series 15 brings Danny Glaze and Claire Stanton as an undercover CIB agent trying to catch Don. She doesn't expect to fall in love with another CID member, however. Unfortunately, we do lose Liz in 15 but she does pop back a few times. Series 16 is a BIG CID-focused series. Rod jumps before he's pushed and the truth about Don comes out after he and John have a fight. We lose John, Don, Kerry, Claire, Geoff, Deakin, Tom, and Tom. We gain Paul Riley, Kate Spears, Vik Singh, Alex Cullen, and Debbie McAllister. A somewhat unfair exchange. Saving the best until last however for series 16 as Mickey also arrives and is at his cheeky scamp best.
Series 17-18 Near the end of series 16 we got a whole new bunch of CID after a mass exodus due to Don being revealed as a dodgy officer. To give them a chance to bed in properly, there were no cast changes to CID in series 17. The new lot featured heavily, Mickey went undercover as a rentboy for a bit and then as a football hooligan. Debbie's snout was her lover and there was quite hoo hah about him, There's a couple of guest appearances from Liz, one of which is a multi-parter that terrifies Kate Spears, Claire follows Don over to Australia to tr catch him and bring him to justice. In series 18 we lose Vik, Paul, Kate and Alex Cullen but gain Eva, Ken Drummond, Phil Hunter, Sam Nixon and Brandon. Series 18 is also the beginning of the numbered episodes and Paul Marquess...
Series 19-21: we gain Juliet for a short time before Rae gets fed up of the sexualised bisexual obsession for her storylines and we also end up with sexist arse, Rob Thatcher whilst losing Duncan, Danny and it's the first exit of Mickey too post-rape and the death of his mother over to MIT. It's not all bad, we also get Terry, Ramani and Neil. In series 20 we lose Rob when he finishes his vengeance against The Radfords by murdering Irene and being shot by CO19. We also lose Debbie and Brandon and Eva transferred to MIT. We gain Suzie in return, however. Series 21 we lose Ken in an explosion and Jim walks away after losing June and Ken. Gary who has been playing in CID for a little while gets short and transfers to the Manchester police. Jo arrives and Mickey returns from MIT. There's a mysterious newbie when Adi Mateen pretending Zain also arrives when it turns out that he's not the annoying gangster that's been buzzing round Sun Hill but has been undercover!
Series 22-24 - In series 22 we lose Ramani and Suzie, however, we gain Stuart and Kezia. THISISNOTAFAIRSWAP. Ahem. In series 23 we gain Grace and also Max at the very very end, Zain reaches the end of his tenure after being drawn to the dark side with Kristen and Phil transfers out rather suddenly as Scott appears to have jumped very quickly over to EastEnders. Series 24 welcomes Stevie and Banksy and we don't lose anyone!
Series 25-26 - I ummed and ahhed about making the last series a stand-alone selection on its own because it's a reboot but given it's only essentially half a year long and that the character changes happen in series 25 I put the two together. So, in this series we lose Jack as DCI because he becomes Superintendent. However we don't gain a new DCI, Neil just remains DI and does both jobs. Jo gets promoted but moves to uniform. Sam, Stuart and Kezia go (Could not have taken Sam being promoted to DCI!) and no one else leaves (other than Will) from CID until the very end. We have Mickey undercover as a homeless man, Max's drug problem and Mickey and Terry confronting him. Grace and Neil get together but Neil's son is diagnosed with cancer and so much more. Finally the entire station works together to nail the rapists of poor Jasmine (Respect 1-2)!
(Yep you guessed it, I meant to post this in the sierra-Oscar comm but got distracted.)

i've finished atomic america and i have notes
tucker emphatically states that there is no possible explanation for the sl1 meltdown other than a supercritical excursion (p176). he is specifically saying this to debunk the hypothesis that it was simply a steam pressure explosion, which, there WAS a steam explosion, that was what launched the reactor nine feet out of the ground and severed all of its plumbing. but the presence of supercriticality is indisputible, activated isotopes were found in a gold wedding ring, and brass components of a zippo lighter and a watch buckle
however, this emphatic point also applies more broadly to the hypotheses of a love triangle or murder suicide -- the evidence strongly supports that the condition of the reactor, flaws in its design, stuck control rods, flaking boron poison, no warning about what would happen if control rod 9 was removed more than 4 inches, and the operators' lack of experience were far more likely the contributing factors. i am issuing a correction, during my first year of research on this, the wiki was written differently. i think recently if i've said anything about it i've described it as implausible at best, borne out of an inability to believe the reactor could have been as dangerous as it was, which is the same point tucker ultimately makes. my point about this goes somewhat further: this type of mythology is essential to the continued function of the nuclear project
he also makes the point that it is a misconception when antinuclear activists state that the industry monolithically supports itself, because there is a lot of money in extravagant cleanup operations (p196). this is patently absurd, delusionally optimistic, and roundly disproven by the amount of corruption in cleanup, farm to fork, hanford to holtec. he also goes on to directly contradict himself in listing the three cleanup attempts to date at sl1, at least two of which did not finish the job (this and "inexperienced operators" might be unfair, the initial GE cleanup was largely undertaken to gain experience, as this was the first time a reactor had ever exploded due to a runaway chain reaction)
it would take a thousand pages to catalogue everything that's wrong with holtec, but today let's start with the fucking SIMULTANEOUS $1.5b loan to reopen palisades and $5m fine for fraudulent grant applications. maybe there should not be one company with its finger in every nuclear pie...!

"Would you like to hear a horror story?"
Horror Story 2 Friend falls while fishing in the early morning darkness.
The loud ticking of the clock woke me up. I reached out to switch on the light above my bed and glanced at the clock hanging at the end of the bed. The clock hands indicated that it was half past two. I got out of bed to shower and get dressed, preparing to go fishing. Once I finished getting ready and gathered my gear, I headed out of the house immediately.
It took only five minutes to get from my house to the river. I parked the car neatly before grabbing my fishing gear from the vehicle. I walked down the bank of the river before laying the gear down on the grass. I picked up the bait to prepare for baiting the hook. Once everything was ready, I moved closer to the riverbank before casting the fishing bait into the water.
After finishing baiting, I turned to prepare my fishing rod. While getting the fishing rod ready, I swept my gaze around the dark, serene surroundings, illuminated only by the light from nearby lampposts. Perhaps it was because it was around 3 a.m., it looked eerie but not surprising.
I cast my fishing rod into the river before placing it on the ground and tying the line to a stick stuck in the ground to prevent the rod from moving. I repeated this process until everything was set up, then sat on a water bucket to wait.
Meanwhile, I played some music to prevent the surroundings from being too quiet. I sat humming to the tunes, waiting for the fish to bite while observing the riverbanks. This river was a popular spot for fishing enthusiasts to gather and catch fish, mostly from the early morning until dusk. Unlike others, I chose to come during the dark morning hours because, at this time, there were no crowds and no need to compete with others. Additionally, any fish caught during this time had to be sold by 7 a.m., so I chose the pre-dawn hours to ensure my catch remained fresh.
After several minutes, the fish began to take the bait on my fishing rod. I managed to collect the caught fish and put them in the prepared water bucket. Then, I turned to change the bait for the next round of fishing. While I was preparing the fishing rod, my eyes caught something under the bridge across the river. I glanced at it, resembling the silhouette of a person standing under the bridge, and then it suddenly disappeared.
I hesitated for a moment, swallowing nervously. I grabbed the flashlight and aimed it at the post under the bridge before cautiously approaching. I shone the flashlight around, and suddenly, someone emerged from behind the post. He was a middle-aged man, slightly taller and paler than me, wearing a patterned shirt.
“What are you doing here?”
My voice trembled. I stared at the person in front of me, from head to toe. He appeared to be just an ordinary person, nothing like a ghost or anything. He must have been someone who lived nearby or came here to fish, just like me.
"I came here to fish."
Breathe a sigh of relief. I walked back to where I was, with the man following closely behind me. I sat down on the ground, and he settled nearby. Glancing at him surreptitiously, I decided to break the silence.
"I'm Pan. What's your name?"
"I'm Singh."
"Do you live around here?"
"Yes, I live here."
"Here?"
Before I could speak, the sound of splashing water in the river caught my attention. It seemed like the fish had taken the bait. I rose from the ground and went to the spot where I had set the bait. Pulling up the line, I found only one fish hooked on the bait. I put that fish into the water bucket before casting the fishnet out again.
I walked back to my original spot and glanced at Singh standing by the riverbank. I didn't pay much attention, thinking he was probably fishing just like me.
As time passed, I picked up my phone to check the time. It was now half past 4 a.m. I glanced over at Singh; he was standing still by the riverbank. Suddenly, he walked into the water without saying a word.
"Hey! Where are you going?"
I shouted and walked straight towards Singh, but it seemed like he didn't hear me. I walked closer, trying to reach out to him, but the closer I got, the further he seemed to move away.
I walked after Singh until I was in water up to my waist. Suddenly, Singh stopped and stood still before disappearing into the water in front of me.
"Singh!! Singh!"
I yelled Singh's name repeatedly before deciding to dive underwater. I tried to forget about searching for Singh underwater, but the darkness prevented me from seeing anything beneath the surface.
I emerged from the water and turned left and right to search for Singh. Suddenly, I felt a cool breeze on the back of my neck. Slowly, I turned around and found Singh standing behind me. His face was pale, unlike when we first met.
"Singh, what are you doing? You scared me,"
I turned to speak to him but hesitated when I saw that his condition had changed drastically. Singh looked like a dead man the condition became sluggish., with sunken eyes that seemed to have been gnawed by animals. At that moment, I was terrified before regaining my composure and quickly running ashore. However, Singh grabbed my leg and pulled me back into the water. I struggled desperately to escape death until I finally managed to break free. I rushed into the car and tried to start it, but the engine wouldn't turn over. I struggled with the key several times until, finally, the car started. I shifted gears and stepped on the accelerator, leaving that spot immediately without caring about the fishing equipment I had left behind.
I drove out while glancing at the rearview mirror from time to time, thinking I had escaped for sure. I took a deep breath of relief when I didn't see him following and turned my focus back to the road. But then, I was wrong. Suddenly, Singh stood in front of the car, seemingly appearing out of nowhere, causing me to instinctively swerve and dodge. The black pickup truck veered off the road before crashing into a large tree with tremendous force. My head hit the steering wheel hard, and to make matters worse, the tree fell on top of the car.
I crawled out of the car, barely able to move due to the immense pain. With almost no strength left, I decided to lie down beside the wreckage of the car. With blurred vision, I could see some people standing not far away. I vaguely remembered that one of them was Singh.
"Singh, I've never done anything to you. Why did you have to do this to me?"
Singh stood still, not responding to me, but instead walked closer to me. He stopped, looking at me lying there silently from the pain. I realized then that Singh wasn't human. He was a ghost. I admit, at first, when I found out he wasn't human, I was terrified. I ran away without thinking about my life at all. But even then, I still considered him my friend, even though we had just met.
"I don't know what you're angry or seeking revenge for, but if I've done something wrong or hurt you in any way, I apologize."
I spoke with a final burst of energy before everything faded away.
When I woke up again, it was morning at the hospital. My wife told me that around 5 a.m., someone found me by the river where I went fishing. They said a man was wearing a dark-patterned shirt, with pale skin, who helped park my car and mentioned that someone had crashed into a tree nearby. However, by the time they arrived at the scene, the man was gone.
I pondered over what my wife recounted and strongly suspected that the person who helped with the car must have been Singh. I thought he must have felt guilty and sought someone else to assist me instead.
After leaving the hospital, I returned to the riverbank once again and accompanied Invite the monk, to perform a ceremony to release Singh's spirit. While conducting the ritual, I saw Singh too. He stood in the river before gradually fading away.
"He's gone now."
I rose from the ground before turning to speak to the venerable monk.
"That's right, Venerable Monk. From now on, he won't have to linger in the cold anymore."
After completing the ceremony, I prepared to return home. Suddenly, there was a faint call for me. I turned to look at the river but found nothing but emptiness. It wasn't hard to guess that it was probably the last farewell from the lion spirit, thanking me.
"Go to a better place, Singh. Perhaps one day, we will meet again."
I said, concluding my thoughts before turning back home immediately. Had I not come here several days ago, I wouldn't have encountered the Singh. I believe the harm he inflicted on me was out of fear of being captured or erased, but I hold no grudge against him. I still think he was just waiting for someone to come and set him free from this cycle.

The Tale of the Cotton Drapes
Tumblr media
When Rachel moved into her new house, she was ecstatic to decorate it with all the beautiful things she had seen on Pinterest. She had always dreamt of owning a house, and now that dream had finally come true. She spent days browsing online stores and visiting local furniture shops, carefully selecting every piece of furniture, every accessory, and every decor item that would go in her dream house.
One thing that Rachel had always been particular about was the curtains. She loved how they added a touch of elegance to a room and brought in the right amount of light. Rachel had researched extensively about different types of curtains before deciding on cotton drapes for her living room. She wanted something that was traditional, light-filtering, and would match the overall aesthetic of her house.
Rachel went to a nearby store to purchase her cotton drapes. As soon as she entered, she was greeted by the store’s owner, Mr. Singh. Mr. Singh was a kind, elderly man who had been in the business of selling curtains for over thirty years. Rachel immediately felt at ease as Mr. Singh took her through his collection of cotton drapes.
As Rachel sifted through the various designs and patterns, she noticed a set of curtains that immediately caught her eye. They were a beautiful shade of light blue and had intricate white embroidery on them. Rachel knew she had found the perfect curtains for her living room.
Mr. Singh noticed the excitement on Rachel’s face and smiled. “Those curtains are beautiful, aren’t they?” he said. “They’re made from the finest cotton and are perfect for light filtering. They’re also traditional, which I’m sure will go well with the rest of your house.”
Rachel couldn’t agree more. She was delighted with her purchase and couldn’t wait to hang up the curtains in her living room. Mr. Singh also helped Rachel pick out some curtain rods that would match the curtains perfectly.
The next day, Rachel got to work hanging up her curtains. She carefully measured the windows and made sure that the curtains were the right length. As she hung up the curtains, she couldn’t help but admire how beautiful they looked in her living room. The light blue color matched the walls perfectly, and the white embroidery added a touch of elegance to the room.
Rachel was thrilled with her new curtains, but little did she know that they would soon become the center of attention in her house. A few days after hanging up the curtains, Rachel’s neighbor, Mrs. Jones, came over for tea. As soon as she entered the living room, she noticed the curtains and couldn’t stop raving about them.
“Oh, Rachel, these curtains are gorgeous,” she said. “Where did you get them?”
Rachel smiled and told Mrs. Jones about Mr. Singh’s store. Mrs. Jones was so impressed that she decided to go to the store the very next day to purchase a set of cotton drapes for her own house.
Over the next few weeks, Rachel’s cotton drapes became the talk of the neighborhood. Everyone who visited her house couldn’t help but admire the curtains and ask Rachel where she had bought them from. Rachel would always happily tell them about Mr. Singh’s store and how he had helped her find the perfect curtains for her house.
Months went by, and Rachel’s love for her cotton drapes never faded. They added a touch of elegance to her living room and had become a source of pride for her. Every time someone complimented her curtains, Rachel would smile and feel grateful that she had found the perfect curtains for her dream house.
In the end, it wasn’t just about the curtains themselves, but the memories and the experiences that came with them. Rachel had discovered a love for decorating and had learned the importance of finding the right pieces that not only matched the aesthetic of her house but also brought her joy.
One day, as Rachel was sitting in her living room admiring her curtains, she realized that she had never properly thanked Mr. Singh for helping her find the perfect cotton drapes. She decided to visit his store and express her gratitude in person.
When Rachel arrived at the store, Mr. Singh greeted her with a warm smile. Rachel thanked him for his help in finding the perfect curtains for her house and told him how much joy they had brought her.
Mr. Singh was pleased to hear this and told Rachel that he was always happy to help his customers find the perfect curtains for their homes. He also shared a story with Rachel about how his grandfather had started the business decades ago and how he had learned everything about curtains from him.
As Rachel listened to Mr. Singh’s story, she realized that the curtains she had purchased were not just any curtains. They were a part of a long-standing tradition and a legacy that had been passed down through generations.
Rachel left the store that day feeling grateful and inspired. She realized that decorating her home wasn’t just about buying beautiful things but also about appreciating the history and stories behind each piece.
Over the years, Rachel continued to decorate her house with care and attention to detail. She added new pieces that matched her aesthetic and brought her joy, but her cotton drapes remained the centerpiece of her living room. They continued to bring her joy and memories of the day she had discovered Mr. Singh’s store and the legacy behind the curtains she had purchased.
In the end, it wasn’t just about the curtains themselves, but the journey of discovery and appreciation that came with them. Rachel had learned that finding the perfect curtains for her house was about more than just aesthetics. It was about understanding the history and stories behind each piece and finding the right balance between beauty and meaning.

CBU students and alumni concerned about faculty strike
There was a sense of anxiety on the campus of Cape Breton University Thursday as students attended an information session to prepare for a possible strike.
“We are just pressing both sides to come together to reach an agreement,” said CBU Students’ Union president Damanpreet Singh.
The Alumni Association is also concerned, saying students that are focused on their studies don't need the increased stress and uncertainty of a strike.
“It's going to have a significant impact on their potential studies. If you don't have access to your professors, or if you can't ask questions about your courses, we might see some educational outcomes impacted,” said CBU Alumni Association president Brandon Ellis.
More than 230 members of the CBU Faculty Association plan to walk off the job Friday morning. They say the issue is wages.
They've been offered eight per cent increase over three years, but are looking for 14 per cent over two years.
Meanwhile, the university says their best offer is on the table.
“Everything comes down, at this point, to money -- that's the only thing left on the table. And I think that that's probably something that can be resolved. If it was a complicated, tricky issue then you might have to have a few weeks, but this is money,” said Rod Nicholls, a member of the university’s bargaining team.
The last time there was a faculty strike at CBU was back in 2000. It was a long dispute that lasted through much of the winter semester.
“Our faculty do so many great things, so I hope they're treated fairly, but I don't want to see tuition or fees increase for the students,” said Ellis.
