High Fantasy Clone Wars on Heroforge Sneak Peeks

Eventually I will post all the finished pieces but FOR NOW! Have some ✨sneak peeks✨ (mostly... mostly the Clones. i had to do my boys first you know :] )

The ✨Disaster Duo✨ because I had to. There's a lot of detail in this one alone, even though it's a simpler piece, so I'm really proud of it

✨Ahsoka✨. Or, at least, her face. Because it's a High Fantasy now, there aren't really... aliens... so I'm adapting the various races into different cultures scattered across the kingdom far, far away, which explains her facepaint and headscarf. (I might make a public Google Doc so i can get all the information in one place, because the few Togruta headcanons I have I find very interesting :D )

✨Fives✨ who... isn't perfectly canonically accurate but you gotta work with what you've got in Heroforge. And I am very proud of him. And he is one of my favorite Clones. So there. Also he has a flail because I think he deserves one (actually, all the Clones fight with a different weapon in this series! it's really time-consuming to fiddle with but it's been fun thinking about who would wield what :D )

And uh... here's Waxer, who I'm putting for funsies because Heroforge wierdly distorted his face when I copied him from the original Clone model (because I took a page out of the kaminoans' book and made a single Clone model and I keep copying that to make each new Clone, so I can ensure their faces are identical) and while he still looks like the rest of them, his expression made me CACKLE. So. ✨Waxer.✨

Anyway, let me know what you think! And feel free to ask questions because I LOVE to answer them! I'm going to post actual pictures eventually, don't worry, I'm just waiting to finish the Clones because I want to do a side-by-side comparison of each one so you can see their similarities and differences. Fox/Fives!!! Yes! With Rex too. I can do that! I love them. Fives and Fox enable each other but Rex helps keep them from going too far. A good group. Thank you for the prompt and enjoy!

Rex was frozen as he stood in the doorway, a stolen bag of Fox's favorite chocolate covered berries under one arm with a berry half way to his mouth. He was dressed in an oversized blue hoodie with his signature Jaig eyes painted in white and a pair of bright red boxers he had stolen from Fox's closet.

"What the kriff did I walk in on?" He asked and Fox growled lowly in frustration although he didn't look up from his task.

"Your ARC-" he started but Rex cut him off with a noise of complaint.

"Why is he suddenly my ARC when he pisses you off? We agreed that on Taungsday he's the Guard's idiot." He said and finally popped the berry into his mouth and finished entering the room.

Fox was sitting on the couch with Fives positioned between his legs on the floor and a hair brush to his side. Half of Fives' head was arranged in what Rex might have called a high Nabooian style if he was being kind but was honestly just a lot of rubber bands and knots. The other side was twisted into many different braids. Fives was just staring ahead looking resigned to whatever was going on.

"Fine, my idiot ARC let a bunch of cadets use him as a doll and I'm trying to undo the damage without just shaving it all off." Fox finally looked over as Rex flopped on the couch beside him and offered Fox a berry which he took distractedly and ate with a little pleased hum.

"Thorn said they were good at it! I'm going to put green dye in his shampoo." Fives whined.

"You didn't realize Thorn lies like 80% of the time after he convinced you to eat that soap bar shaped like a piece of pie?" Rex asked raising an eyebrow as he stretched out and shoved his feet into Fox's lap so his boyfriend had to lean over them to look at Fives' head.

"It honestly didn't taste that bad." Fives said holding out a hand for a berry as well and Rex rolled his eyes but gave it to him.

The peace that filled Rex as he laid there with Fox slowly unknotting Fives' hair while Fives chattered about his ongoing feud with Thorn had him melting into the worn cushions. There had been several points in the war he had almost given up. Little moments like this made him grateful he kept fighting.

My take on Rex’s hair is that he is a natural blond and does not dye it

You may be wondering, why are his eyebrows dark then?

My very (un)serious headcanon is that part of the cloning process means the kaminoans (no idea if that’s spelt right) chose certain aspects of the clones genetics that they wanted to prioritise and put lots of attention into. One of the things they chose was eyebrows, to help the clones be more effective when they raise their eyebrows to judge/question people. Because naturally eyebrows are just as important to focus on as other useful traits a soldier needs (eg fitness, intelligence - obviously eyebrows are not at all out of place on that list)

Therefore, because they focused more on eyebrows, Rex has standard eyebrows but his hair is a different colour to most clones

I trend towards Natural blond Rex, maybe he dyes his eyebrows though for facial scrunchiness. I support bottle blond Rex where its funny though.

So I've seen the natural blond/bottle blond debate abt Captain Rex coming up again and I figured I'd give you my thoughts. First off, I am firmly team natural blond and here's why:

Rex honestly doesn't strike me as the type of dude who would spent that much time on his hair every week or so. Just seems like a Shave It Down Just Enough So It's Still Technically Hair kinda dude. No I will not elaborate on this, either you feel me or you don't

I think it makes for a richer character, tbh. The blond hair means that he is "genetically defective". Not only could that mean there are more, less detectable genetic differences (like more defiance, aggression, and creativity. all of which more than necessary to be Skywalker's Second), but it would also mean that growing up on Kamino, he likely had a harder time. He would've had to prove his worth to the Kaminoans more than others because they are perfectionists. Blond clone? Not that bad, but not quite what we want. Blond clone who can't pass the test first try? Unacceptable, that's already two black marks. Get rid of him.

I LIVE for the "Others called him King to bully him, because his blond hair looks like a crown, but he made it his own and owns it like THE KING HE IS AND ALL THE SHINIES ADORE HIM NOW"-headcanon

I also LIVE for the "The Kaminoans ran out of Jango DNA so they took DNA from the highest performing clones, including Rex so every little blond clone we see is kinda Rex's son in a way"-headcanon

I also go absolutely FERAL at the "Rex is a natural blond and therefore has to dye his eyebrows dark"-headcanon. That's the good sht, let's be real

I know my first statement made a different point, but I am genuinely intrigued abt if there is more to the shaven hair than we think. Every blond clone we've seen (save for Crys, though we all know he's the bottle blond of the army (deregatory)) has shaven down hair. Maybe the Kaminoans gave them different regs? Because in the Cadet Episode every single cadet (save for Boba but yanno) had the regulation haircut. There was one clone (REX'S SON) who had blond hair, but it was completely shaved, just like Rex's. Makes me wonder if the Kaminoans forced them too. Definitely would also make sense for Rex. He kept the regulation haircut, because his hair isn't as important to him as being a good CO.

I'm in camp Rex is a natural blond, but he does dye his eyebrows for emphatic scrunchy face purposes unless it's funnier to make him a bottle blond with roots showing every second day ����

i'm so curious as to why some people HC Rex as dyeing his hair while some depict him as a mutant. because, to me, this extremely busy decorated war officer, famously serious about his work, taking the time out of his day to bleach his hair is just... like distinguishing yourself with tattoos and/or painting your armor is one thing. regularly bleaching your hair takes time, commitment. that's such a different character than if he were a mutie.

Only a couple fun facts about my au/rewrite

Liu is older than Jeff - right before the incident where Jeff murders his family Jeff is only 15 and Liu is 17.

Nina is Randy and Keith’s little sister- before Jeff became Jeff the killer Nina was 14 Randy was 18 and Keith was 15

Nina has always had a crush on Jeff even before he was Jeff the killer. Her brother, Keith, also had a crush on Jeff but it was a sick crush were he loved seeing Jeff in pain.

Jeff toke therapy before being Jeff the killer for his anger issues which only keep getting worse.

Jeff has albinism and dyes his hair at age 14 but doesn’t dye his eyebrows till he is 18.

Jeff is afraid of fire because Randy used to chase Jeff with a lighter when he was only 8.

Randy killed Jeff’s dog at Jeff’s 9th birthday and cut a smile in its face saying he was happy to be away from Jeff. This obviously traumatized Jeff making his family move away for a couple years.

Jeff’s dog’s name is Rex and in the future his name is smile dog yes that is right smile dog is a zombie dog in my au.

Personal headcanon that Appo is a bit of a tease and likes teasing with the General (Sephora) - he mostly just does it because it’s easy to do with her- (she’s too goody two shoe’ for her own good 😅) no less since of rescuing him (after Order 66, it’s a long story) he grew more closer to her. They’re more on conrad level but Appo doesn't mind her so much- but again teasing.

He knows how Rex feels about her- and from her men how she feels about him. So needless to say he will like to bring that subject up to the surface in some shape or form 😆 (so does a lot of his Commander brothers 😂😂🤣😅)

Also Sephora highlights some of her hair ‘blue’ in honor of 501st years after Order 66 in reverence of them. This short references it.

Appo rose an eyebrow. “I still don’t get why you don’t just tell him?’’ Appo said one day.

“Tell Rex what?” She questioned him skeptically.

“-That you like him?” He said with an amused look.

Sephora rolled her eyes. “It’s not like that Appo..”

“No?” He questioned crossing his arms. “You sure about that?” He asked smirking a little.

Sephora eyes him after a moment giving him a skeptical look when he wouldn't back down with the gaze.

“No..”

“Come on-”

“It’s not like that.”

“You dyed your hair blue.” He pointed out.

“Appo..it’s not like that.”

“You’re tripping me.”

“I dyed it because of 501st!”

“-And Rex. If not solely Rex.” He said with an amused look.

Sephora glowered at him. -“You don’t need to convince me. The entire GAR knows.”

“The entire GAR?” Sephora stated skeptically.

“A lot of the GAR.” Appo expounded.

“..That’s a lot Appo.”

“It’s true.” He stated.

Now Sephora crossed her own arms. “And what did the GAR say?”

“They say you and Rex are an item.”

Sephora face palmed. “What else do they say..?”

Appo smirked a little. “Probably things you don't want to hear.” He stated.

Sephora moved her hand down her face. “That’s lovely.”

“Why are you two so stubborn?”

“Appo you’re starting to sound like Ani…”

“Then it’s true then?” He asked with an amused look.

“Dammit Appo.”

He just chuckled.

“I’ll just say the Captain doesn’t necessarily dislike you.” He stated with a wink.

“..should you be telling me this?” She questioned of him.

Appo put his hands up. “It’s not like it's anything new.” He stated.

“- But maybe it is to you.”

“He thinks you’re cute.”

“Appo.” Sephora hid her face.

“You two are so similar it’s adorable.” He stated with an amused look, watching her embarrassment over the matter.

“You’re annoying.”

“I know.” He stated matter-of-factly.

“What's up with the blue?” Wolffe stated deliberately meaning her hair.

Sephora shoved him. “Shut up Appo..”

Her men just snickered in the background.

“501st- probably more Rex though.”

Sephora glared at him.

Rex looked stupefied. Wolffe scoffed crossing his arms.

“No favorites huh?”

Sephora gave him a look. “I don’t do favorites.” She admitted.

Wolffe looked amused. “Then explain the hair.”

“What’s wrong with blue?” She reasoned. “It’s just blue.”

“Why not green? It’s your battalion’s color after all.” Wolffe submitted.

“Exactly!!” Star exclaimed. “I've been telling her that all this time!”

Seeing his excitement and Sephora’s obvious annoyance of the subject Wolffe smirked.

“I’m not dying it green.” She stated.

“Why not? You dyed it blue, why can’t you add green?” Wolffe questioned.

“Because it's my head and I don't want to dye it green?” She questioned.

Wolffe just continued smirking. She frowned.

*Also Sephora really gets along with the Commanders. It’s like she’s on a personal level with them. It’s like she gets personal ‘special status’ and she’d be the only Jedi sitting with them in a meetup- and it’d be just Commanders save for Rex because he gets special treatment too. Because he’s that ‘special’ Captain. She really has close connections to the clones. She is like their personal ‘support buddy.’ She is like a #1 supporter of clones and they know it.

A silly headcanon I've had for a while:

Rex is, of course, naturally blond. This obviously extends to his eyebrows and lashes. Like all Clones, these are very full and thick, and when coupled with his dark skin, their paleness produces a rather unsettling effect. As such, people who are not his brothers or the Jedi often have trouble looking him in they eye. He dyes his eyebrows to help mitigate this slightly, but his lashes cannot be helped.

(He tried, once, to borrow Ahsoka's mascara, but when Anakin accidentally walked in on the two of them applying it, he swore it off forever.)

one aspect about them i love

I mean, he's Rex. He's everyone's favorite and for a good reason. He's loyal, brave, and cares so much about the men serving under him. There's really not a lot of bad things that I can say about him. I actually can't think of any.

one aspect i wish more people understood about them

I think people understand him really well. I think he shows his character in his actions, rather than his words. He has jaig eyes for a reason. He isn't afraid to act first, if the situation calls for it.

one (or more) headcanon(s) i have about this character

I go back and forth on whether he dyes his hair, or whether it's natural. But his eyebrows are dark! So, I headcannon that he bleaches his hair. It's not practical at all, especially on battlefield, I know. But we ignore any type of cannon or logic here on this blog.

one character i love seeing them interact with

Anakin. I love the dynamic that they have. He just kind of goes along with everything, even if it sounds absolutely crazy. They have a brotherly bond that I enjoy a lot.

one character i wish they would interact with/interact with more

I think I would like to see him interact more with Omega. I think that their dynamic would be cute, since he seemed a little curious about her in Bad Batch. Plus, they could both bond over their hair.

Cody and Rex always have morning coffee together. They secretly compete on who uses the least cream/sugar. It's unspoken between them, though.
