still workshopping some of these a bit, but here's the current mando'a name chart for the CCs (plus rex!)

green words are ones I took directly from the mando'a dictionary, yellow words are technically non-canon but are basically real words, orange are words I made up that could probably be real words, and red ones are the ones I just mashed words together and they don't always make the most sense

I'm taking constructive criticism on some of these names! If you have a better mando'a name for a character (esp. one w a red name) I'd be happy to hear it!

Hello guys!

Okay so I started to embrioder some clone helmets, because I thought it would be funny (it's not, I can't feel my fingers) so I wanted to show you the ones I done with.

So these are the 501st boys. I'm currently working on Kix.

I wanted to ask for help, I already did other ones and planned others as well. I have around 30 men I guess? And I'm a little nervous about leaving someone out so, I will write it down who's helmet I have in mind, and if you have others in mind please write it down in the comments. It will help my work a lot.

So I have:

501st: Rex, Echo, Fives, Kix, Jesse, Hardcase, Tup, Dogma, Appo, 501st trooper helmet

212nd: Cody, Waxer, Boil

Omega Squad: Atin, Darman, Fi, Niner

Delta Squad: Boss, Sev, Scorch, Fixer

The Bad Batch: Hunter, Crosshair, Echo, Wrecker, Tech, Omega (one of her hat kinda thing)

Others: Fox, Mayday, Howzer, Shiny helmet, Gregor

I think that's all, so if you have others ideas please share with me. It will really help my work and hobby.

Since we could always use more Clone stuffs, how bout I go through some clone names and we can all find (or have a nice review) of who got what name and what it means.

COMMANDER CODY The first named clone trooper, and the first unique clone onscreen as of Revenge of the Sith. So its only fitting we start with him. The name "Cody" originated as O'Cuidightheach, a gaelic name, and effectively, it means "Helpful" or "Helpful Person" Cody, out of universe, got his name based on old movies of Commando Cody--of which, Lucas was a fan of. In the extended Star Wars universe, Cody is a Republicized variant of the Mando'a word "Kote", which means Glory.

CAPTAIN REX Rex's name means "King" in latin. It can also refer to the Dinosaur, the Tyrannosaurus Rex. And it is also a common name for pet Dogs. Take that as you will.

LIEUTENANT JESSE Another shockingly ordinary name, and a Hebrew derived name. Coming from Ancient Greek of "Iessei", and then from Hebrew itself "Yishai". It means "Gift of God" or "God Exists" But more than likely, given that such historic-terminology does not exist in Star Wars. LT Jesse's name is more likely derived from the idiom "Give someone a Jesse"... Which means to give them a scolding or a beating.

KIX I've discussed Kix before, but I might as well do it again for posterity. Kix, is derived from Kex, the archaic english term for the plant "Hemlock". TBB fans, go wild.

HARDCASE You might assume this means that this someone who is hard-nosed and a hard nut to crack, but that isn't the case for our Hardcase. Hardcase is derived from New Zealand Slang, as An "amusing, funny, witty, or possibly strange person."

DENAL There is no specific case that I can make for Rex's early command squadmate, save that Denal is probably meant to be Denial.

BOIL While we can make jokes about the skin abrasion, it probably refers to his temper. A Boiling point, as it were.

WAXER It could be referring to someone who waxes... But, it could also refer to the term "Waxing", as it the growth of something. Given his "Glass half full" personality, perhaps its "Glass half waxing".

COMMANDER BLY The Commander of Aayla Secura's legion, and whom fired upon her during Revenge of the Sith. The term bly, a dialetcic english term, means "Likeness" or "resemblance". Means Bly literally got his name for resembling another person (Wow, no Shit). Whoever named him, basically called him the clone variant of Manny, beacuse He Man.

COMMANDER GREE Introduced in Revenge fo the Sith, as being decapitated by Yoda. While in the extended universe, he's named after animals... The term "Gree", English Obsolete, refers to either "One of a flight of steps" or "one of a stage of ranks". Dude literally got the name "Rank".

COMMANDER BACARA Introduced in Revenge of the Sith, for firing upon Kit-Mun-Di. Bacara is Romanian for Baccara, which in turn refers to Baccarat, a card game. Absolutely nobody knows where the word came from originally.

COMMANDER PONDS Retroactively intorduced in Attack of the Clones, as the Clone Commander who greets General Windu. It... It just means Pond, but pural. It probably refers to the fact that Kamino is an Ocean, and the earth's oceans are sometimes refered to as ponds in slang.

COMMANDER NEYO Revenge of the Sith. It probably is meant to mean "Neo", which means New or Young, in Ancient Greek.

COMMANDER APPO Revenge of the Sith; Marched on the Temple. Does not, in fact, outrank Rex despite himself. Appo is an obsolete english Prepostion, referring to an object as "Before", "After", "Behind" or "nearby". It derives from Latin, "Apud", which means "in the presence of" or "among" (AMOGUS?)

COMMANDER THORN Named after Thor, from Marvel. There's even an old english letter called Thorn.

COMMANDO GREGOR The name Gregor, means "Watchful" or "alert". Which, given his character, is quite ironic.

CAPTAIN HOWZER I am unable to find that name specifically, but I theorize its based off of "Howitzer", which is a firearm cannon There is a lot more clones, and I can't make a post of every one of them. But lemme know if you want me to find anyone else.

Order 66 where the Force is like: ... Eh nah and the chips just don't go off.

So Palpatine: Commander Cody, execute order 66 😈

Cody who has no idea why order 66 would be given but super aware of the stakes:

Under this directive, any and all Jedi leadership must be executed for treason against the Republic. Any soldier that does not comply with the order will also be executed for treason.

Then he realises, ah the Chancellor must be under duress, or it could be a shape shifter which has happened before.

Cody: yes milord (turns off call)

He proceeds to send out coded signal for the other commanders to acknowledge, but disregard 66. Not that he needs to, but he doesn't want anyone to give away they're on to whoever is behind this.

Cody: Sir I believe the Sith have control of the Supreme Chancellor.

Palpatine (already on his next call): Commander Rex, execute Order 66

Rex: .........? Uh... Sir, there are no Jedi on board.

Palatine: I'm sure it you think about it you'll understand my meaning (hangs up)

Rex: .....? (Gets code from Cody) Ohhhh oh thank force.

Meanwhile: dramatic March up to the Temple.

Appo (he's absolutely in disbelief that the Jedi would betray them but it's his General telling him this so it has to be true) sir, how are we going to seperate Jedi military personal from the children and elderly.

Anakin who has been told his men aren't going to have qualms: sorry what?

Appo: the children and elderly. There are civilians that work there as well. Should we call for them to surrender.

Anakin: no, we ... You know. Order 66. My Master said you'd know what that means.

Appo: yessir! (The one time Rex isn't here. He's way better at talking to the general than Appo). We must kill all Jedi Leadership. All the Generals.

Someone in the back: Wait does that include Padawan Commanders?

Murmurs from the group that were already kinda not okay with this.

Anakin: it-- no we need to... The Jedi are traitors!

Appo: (oh no I'm fucking up) yessir... We only want clarification of orders. We must execute Jedi command, but we would like to know if it includes Padawan... Oh also healers.

Another guy in the background: why would it include healers!?

Anakin: yes it-- I mean... It includes everyone!

Appo: (oh he gets it now) oh! No sir! You see these are command that have to do with our military structure. I know the Jedi have been woven in quite tightly, but an order wouldn't have us kill unarmed non-conbatants! No wonder you looked so tense. Did you think-? Wait you didn't actually think we were...

Anakin: uh... (Sheev rhetoric not really useful against regulation and military law that the clones probably know better than he does)

Appo: besides sir, you're a Jedi General the order would include you.

Anakin: I am no longer a Jedi!

Appo: ...... Then.... You can't command us unless you've been given a new official rank. We need to report to the Chancellor directly.

Anakin: uh.... I think I have? Wait stop arguing! If you refuse to kill the Jedi you will be executed with them! This is what he wants!

Appo: (oh fuck oh fuck) sir you cannot order us to kill children. You are unfit to command.

(every single clone points their blaster at Anakin)

Anakin: you can't do that! This is mutiny!

Appo: (😭 Rex help our Jedi is being mind controlled or something)

Imagine an Appo just before the temple march, a newly promoted Commander Appo

An Appo who's now in control of the 501st, would Rex congratulate him? Would Appo think about all the brothers he's lost? Does he blame himself for what happened on Umbara?

But what matters to him right now is protecting what he has left.

Then the temple siege happens.

Appo regains control of his body and suddenly the voices in Appo's head double, he wasn't in control he knows he wasn't but he did it, now everyone is gone. He has nothing.

Anyone have any headcanons for who Rex’s batchmates are? I heavily hc that he was basically adopted by the commanders, but they weren’t his actual batch.

I kinda hc that he and Howzer were batch mates, but I’m also wondering if maybe he and Jesse were too? Maybe Kix? Maybe Appo? I mean it makes sense if most batch mates were put in the same battalions if they weren’t all high ranks that would need to be in different ones

headcanon that Appo was supposed to be the battalion commander, but his number was CC-7567 and Anakin got him and Rex mixed up in the paperwork.

Sorry for the long wait since my last update! I've had these chapters ready for a while but just haven't had the spoons to put them up. Another chill one, but hopefully contains some food for thought, and some familiar faces!

This Chapter: Animal Crossing. Or something.

Warnings: Latter bit has a weeeee bit of Order 66 talk, but I don't think it's that bad.

“He has a few birth defects, that made his mother abandon him,” Appo says, still staring out, his hand still stroking the calf gently. “He is also unlikely to grow to full size, and his bones are too delicate for labor. He is not fit for most traditional uses of banthas, but the delivery representative explained that a pure white calf is considered good fortune, and offered him to us as part of their gift.” “The rest of the herd went on to Mandalore, but we decided that the barren landscape may be a bit harsh on this calf,” Ninety-Nine continues. “But bantha are social creatures, and this one still needs to be bottle-fed. He needed a dedicated caretaker.” Appo snorts. “Ninety-Nine basically dropped him on my lap, and told me he’s my responsibility.” Hevy notes that he has not stopped stroking the calf. Ninety-Nine just smiles pleasantly.

I also couldn't decide on a background color (before finding the right shade of blue) so here's a couple more versions. The blue is best I think, but the red is pretty neat too.
