Do YOU want to rewatch all of Phil's QSMP Hardcore Deity Lore in one big binge like a total fucking masochist? LOOK NO FURTHER!
In order to drag my friends into Bird Man Brainrot Hell with me, I made a bullet list of all the major lore vods with dates and timestamps included for a streamlined list of what and where to watch!
All you have to do is use this [QPhil Lore Playlist] I made from our beloved Crow Mercy's Phil vods channel and refer to the bullet list below!

A Strange Gift (Feb 23rd 2024, 2:15:11-2:20:11) (OPTIONAL: WATCH WHOLE VOD)
Greed comes with a price (Feb 26th 2024, 1:50:53-2:00:00, 2:25:38 to the end) (OPTIONAL: WATCH WHOLE VOD)
Break past the void (March 1st, 2024, 4:30-27:45) (OPTIONAL: WATCH WHOLE VOD)
ALTERNATIVELY!!
EDIT: Following Twitch's change in 2025 with VOD storage, this method may not work. Try it and see, this is just a head's up because I personally haven't tested it.
If YouTube is giving you trouble for one reason or another, YOU'RE IN LUCK!!
Kristin uploads all of Phil's vods to an archive on his Twitch, so you can actually find ALL these vods on Phil's Twitch channel too! I did this myself just a few days before posting this, they're all uploaded and relatively easy to find!
In order to do it this way, all you have to do is go to here on Phil's Twitch, then refer to the dates in the above bullet list in the vod titles. Once you find the right vod, just refer to the timestamps above and go nuts!
Happy binging and reliving Bird Man Trauma! :D
And as a bonus note:
The vods in my playlist that AREN'T major Hardcore Deity Lore moments are other significant QSMP Lore moments Phil was involved in or present for, so you could actually binge the entire playlist chronologically if you want to relive it ALL! :)

serious post.
I've been thinking about this for a while, probably since October of last year. If you've known me since I first started roleplaying, you'll know that I've been roleplaying since the beginning of 2023, and I love it. I love the memories and friends that I made while I was here. But, somewhere along the way, you start from updating multiple times a day, to once a day, to once every other day, to once a week, and suddenly, this thing you used to love started becoming a burden.
Honestly, this has been going on with a bunch of stuff in my life, not just roleplaying. Choir, writing, schoolwork, heck, even hanging out with my friends.
I'm not quitting, I don't think I could ever fully stop roleplaying, but I'm going to be making some drastic changes on most of my blogs as well as taking a(nother) long break. I do have a few ongoing threads, so while I'm on break, I'll try to update those.
Anyway, on to the changes!
@loki-laufeychild
My first RP account ever created, so I have an emotional attachment to this one. No complaints on my end, though, so nothing will change for this.
@picky-piggy
Already reset this account before, and I'm not gonna reset it so soon. Maybe, if others want it, I could add Corrupted Picky back as co-host.
@the-corrupted-toys
Again, reset this before, not gonna reset it so soon. I may add Rich in, and more characters as the chapters are released.
And now, we get to the complicated ones...
@prime-and-megatron
Okay, so, I'm probably going to reset this, but I'm going to keep Chase as Prowl and Jazz's kid. Breakdown's going to go, Ratchet too maybe. I'm going to rewatch the show (including Season 3 which is my least favorite because of the quality) so I can get the characters right.
@ask-tfone-optimus
This account was my favorite out of all of them, but I got waaaay too carried away with this. Projected way too hard on this man lmao. This account most likely may get a reset as well, but I have to figure out what to do with the kids. I'll talk to @/ask-tfone-megatron's Mod about that later.
@bayverse-megatron
This one I'm probably going to delete. I don't use this at all so I have no point in keeping him.
@the-rescue-bots
I'm going to delete this account and repurpose it for the other 4 Rescue Bots (High Tide, Quickshadow, Blurr, and Salvage). This is a definite.
@tfp-orion-and-megatronus
I may turn this into Optimus and Megatron right after the War starts, so it won't be them together, but it'll still be them.
What does resetting entail?
I delete every post, change the banner and the PFP, and basically start fresh. I may even change the name of the account.
Thank you everyone who's been with me for this long, and I hope you'll join me again.

Luz is actually 13 at the start of the Owl House and here's why (Owl House timeline analysis).
Please read!!! 👉👈
Ok, so I've been rewatching the owl house recently through Danny Motta's videos on YouTube, and it got me to thinking about the years the owl house takes place in and the logistics of the BI and Earth time zones. So, I made an analysis:
*SPOILERS BELOW*
First off, let's talk about Luz.
When you look up Luz's age online, it says that Luz is canonically 14 years old in the show. But when you look at the events of the show (*Spoilers sorry*), we see that Luz is celebrating her birthday on the BI, and we see Eda say this line:
Ok, no big deal, right? Well, if we look at the events of the show, we know that the kids were in the Human realm for a while. It was fall in the human realm when the kids arrived after the day of Unity. After the montage of them in the Human realm, it is shown to be Halloween. This means that they would have been in the Human realm for a little under a year, meaning it doesn't make sense that Eda would say that line because Luz would have already turned 15 during that year in the Human realm while the collector was controlling the BI.
So, for this timeline, I'm gonna reference @drachenfalter's calendar analysis (check it out, it's great). In this analysis, they use this picture of a BI calendar.
We see here that the calendar has 42 days in a month, and so their analysis shows that the BI would have 9 months in a year instead of 12, meaning the time zones don't change, but the calendar is longer (hence, why Luz can text her mom in the same time zone).
For Luz's birthday, there is no specific birthday stated for her, but for the sake of the post, I'm gonna head cannon it to be April 8th because that is the day Watching and dreaming came out. Watching and dreaming came out in 2023, and there is a 3-year timeskip at the end, with Luz having graduated High school already in the human realm and preparing to start college in the BI. If we assume that the timeskip takes place in that modern day in 2023, then that would mean that Belos's final defeat takes place in 2020, and the start of the show would have taken place not in 2020, when the show came out, but in 2019, 1 year prior, explaining Luz's narration at the end.
With that in mind, here is my timeline Headcannon.
Luz- 13 years old at the start of the show finishing 8th grade.
Time: Mid-May or beginning of June 2019.
Luz birthday: April 8th (H.C.)
Luz turns 13, finished 8th grade, Camilla sends luz to camp; Luz leaves for BI in Mid-May (March for BI), 2019.
Luz learns magic, attends Hexside, dates Amity in the span of 5 BI months, 7 Earth Months. (It is fall when Luz finds Vee and returns home after the day of Unity).
Luz fights Belos and goes back to the Human realm in November 2019 (September for BI).
The Hexsquad go live in human realm for 1 calendar year, give or take.
- Luz goes back to school, the gang experiences the different seasons in the Human realm montage in Thanks to Them, time jump ends at Halloween.
Luz turns 14 during this time in 2020, and is a sophomore in high school in Thanks to Them (reminder: there is no pandemic in the Owl house universe)
The Hexsquad fights Belos again and goes back to the BI on Halloween in 2020 (End of August/Beg. of September for BI).
The Hexsquad saves the BI in November 2020 (September for BI).
*Timeskip 3 years later*
Luz turns 15 in 2021, spends it rebuilding the Isles.
Luz turns 16 in 2022
Luz turns 17 in 2023, reaches the end of senior year, graduates' high school in the human realm with Vee.
The finale takes place on April 8th, 2023 (February for BI).
- Luz turns 17, celebrates her "King-ceañera".
Luz goes to magic university in the BI in 2023.
- Luz's move in date for school is shown to be August 21st in "Watching and Dreaming", which would be June for the BI, meaning that Luz will have left for school 3-4 months early since she is also shown to be packing in the episode.
Ok, so one last thing to note, with this timeline, the finale would take place in 2023, and Luz would be celebrating her 17th birthday in the BI. This means that Luz would have still been a legal minor when starting college. My head cannon is that Camilla allowed Luz to stay with Eda and Raine for the 3-4 months before starting school, and constantly checked in on Luz during her time in the dorms before turning 18 (as well as long after, of course:)). Eda and Raine would likely also coparent to make sure that Luz was keeping up with her move in process and magic studies.
Anyway, that's my timeline analysis for the Owl house! Hope y'all like it! (I also have other Head cannons for the ages of the other Hexsquad members that go with this timeline if y'all wanna know).

Pinky and the Brain and Animaniacs are taking over my brain again, this hasn't happened on a hyperfixation scale since 2023...HELP
LAB MICE DOODLE DUMP, ENJOY, EAT YOUR FOOD ANIMANIACS FANDOM I KNOW YOU'RE STARVING FOR CONTENT LMAO!!! <3
First time re-drawing them (oops I forgot to colour Brain's nose)

I did character studies on the mice so I could draw them accurately while still remaining in my artstyle (I probably spelled things wrong but idc). Why are they so hard to DRAW 😭 bruuuuh, I'll get the hang of it...

top camera pov lmao

ROMY!!!! For those who don't know, he is Pinky and Brain's canonical biological merged clone/child...not even joking, its canon, I'm serious (Still cant believe this episode was real, watch the episode called "Brinky" for context, he also was in a comic but I forgot which issue). This sucker was the easiest to draw somehow 😭

A summary of what happened (I decided to rewatch random episodes of the series, now I'm back in the fucking building again!!! /snapcube ref)

I have ideas I will provide 0 context for...you'll have to wait and see if I ever carry these ideas to the finish line Ooooo (some probably not, but others yes)

Uninished Storyboards?!?! :O (Song ref, Take over the world, sung at Animaniacs in concert, very cool song I love it). Are the storyboards in order? NOPE :D.

Random ass doodles (can you tell who my favourite characters are...I'll give you a hint, they're gene spliced lab mice hell bent on taking over the world)

(OLD ART BELOW) I used to draw them like this, Brain has a small head wtf, Pinky's eyes have a small gap between them also i gave him extra fluffy ears for fun, and their bodies are too human, not enough mousey proportions. (These are life sized pinky and brain cut outs I made for Halloween in 2021 which I still think is pretty cool despite the older art, they are 4 inches and 6 inches...life sized 😭💖.)

I forgot how large of a scale this hyperfixation is...so be prepared (if I end up posting lots of stuff lol, I post whatever I want here lol)
Don't panic Smg4 fans who follow me! (which might be most of you) I'm still hyped about Smg4 (I'M SO EXCITED FOR THE CURRENT ARC), but you may have to deal with the fact I have a lot of other interests, and I'm remembering how much I LOVE THESE FUCKING LAB MICE (and warner siblings, and all of animaniacs lol). If you guys like these shows too then YIPPEEEEEEE
I love both 90's shows so much. I love Animaniacs, I LOVE Pinky and the brain. And I really like the reboot (despite the few issues it had, still wish they hired Tom Rugger to get involved, HE WASNT EVEN TOLD ABOUT IT till it was too late, bruuuuuuh)
That's all folks!
(Just wanna say real quick, we WON, KETCHUP ENTERTAINMENT HAS SAVED ACME VS COYOTE!!! If they reference acme labs in any way I will explode happily) 😁💖💥

a tweet on my timeline of a youtube comment on gem's afterlife smp: the movie video made me wonder: what do people think of when they hear "life series"
so,,, in my head, there are two:
~ long post ahead
modded life - mostly empires smp members; one life, xlife, afterlife, new life, sos (honorary, the smp plays with a "life-respawn system" too anyways)
vanilla life - mostly hermitcraft members; third life, last life, double life, limited life, secret life, real life, wild life
my personal minecraft smp pipeline was xlife - empires - hermitcraft - last life (and the rest of the vanilla lifes), then i also watched afterlife and sos as they uploaded. just thought it would be nice to have a label to distinguish the two "flavors" of life series, if you will, in my head.
some stuff i found out after doing some digging on these SMPs and realizations:
people would prolly consider a life series a,,, "life series" if it has the word "life" in its name. personally, i like to think of a life series as hardcore with a twist which is why i consider sos as an honorary one.
main reason for the "vanilla" and "modded" titles: vanilla lifes mostly try to keep itself vanilla, while modded lifes are usually MODDED with new biomes, mechanics, mobs, etc.
it confused me a bit at first how the vanilla lifers managed to have a pretty consistent roster compared to the modded lifers, then it hit that the modded lifes are long-term SMPs that last for months to maybe over a year per "season", while the vanilla lifes are short-term, consistently taking 6 to 8 weeks (or 2 months max) only.
the modded lifes don't actually belong to the same "life series" unlike the vanilla lifes: they're all independent series. i just like to tack the "modded life" label on them for simplicity's sake + the creators involved have becone consistent anyways
limited life & sos are both similar in the sense that technically, there isn't a set number of times you could die compared to other SMPs on the list. your respawns in limited life depend on whether your 24 hours on the server is out, while sos depends on its own "life currency": fate coins. it would be fun to see the CCs play with these kinds of twists where whether you get a chance to respawn has a variable of sorts.
one life (season 1) was first published on May 15, 2016, making it 8 years old as of writing this and the oldest life series in this list
one life also had 3 seasons from May 2016 to March 2019, making it the longest life series
the shortest life series is double life, running for 6 weeks from June to July 2022
if you were to order all the mentioned life series by date started, you'll have: one (2016), x (2019), third (2021), last, afterlife (2022), double, limited (2023), new, secret, sos (2024), real, wild
the only modded lifers that have been in every "season" of the modded lifes are joel smallishbeans, joey graceffa, lizzie ldshadowlady, scott smajor, and shubble
lifers that have been in both modded and vanilla versions are scott, joel, lizzie, jimmy, gem, pearl, scar, & martyn (and oli, if you count his snail appearance on wild life)
with 12 "seasons" between both the modded and vanilla lifes, it's pretty amazing that a concept for a series has only been repeated once: afterlife & new life with the origins mod (didn't they repeat the concept because they wanted to see more origins?)
andddd i think that's all !! feel free to add more thoughts below, or correct me with any misinformation :]]
(this made me want to rewatch cleo's LimLife + finally start jimmy's xlife, shubble's sos, and/or pearl's new life,,, wish me luck o7)

Why Holly Madison Is ‘Not Interested’ in Dating After Split From ‘Ghost Adventures’ Star Zak Bagans
May 1, 2025 - By Jaime Harkin, Reporting by Lindsay Hoffman

Holly Madison is one busy woman. The mom of two (she shares Rainbow, 12, and Forest, 8, with ex-husband Pasquale Rotella) is the executive producer and host of Investigation Discovery’s true crime docuseries The Playboy Murders (which returns for Season 3 on May 5) and the cohost of the “Girls Next Level” podcast with her former Girls Next Door costar Bridget Marquardt. Holly starred in the hit E! show — which centered around the lives of late Playboy founder Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends — from 2005 to 2009. She’s also written two books including her 2015 best-selling memoir, Down the Rabbit Hole.
It’s no wonder the single 45-year-old star (she and her on/off boyfriend of five years, Ghost Adventures host Zak Bagans, split in late March) says she has little time — and zero interest — in dating around.
“I’ve never been much of a dater,” she says. “I’m not interested in it. I’m fine being single!”
Here, Holly, who in 2023 revealed she was diagnosed with autism, talks to In Touch’s Lindsay Hoffman about why she’d “never” do a reality dating show, where she stands with former castmate Kendra Wilkinson and the advice she’d give her younger self.
Are you swearing off men?
HM: I just want the next person I meet to be “the one.” I’m not interested in having short flings or anything like that. I don’t have time for it. I’m really busy coparenting and doing my three jobs and traveling and things like that. So it’s “the one” or nothing.
So no dating reality shows for you!
HM: I would never. I’m not attracted to the kind of guy who wants to be on a reality show. My type is more businessmen.
August will mark 20 years since the Girls Next Door premiere. How does it feel to look back on it now?
HM: At first I was kind of embarrassed about it because I didn’t feel like the show captured who I really was. It was like embracing caricature. But as I’ve rewatched it with Bridget, it’s helped me reclaim some of the positive memories, like a really fun girls trip or a nice buffet and movie night at the mansion. It helps me embrace the whole picture.
You and Bridget are clearly still close. What about Kendra?
HM: I don’t speak to [her] anymore. We were driven apart when we were doing our spinoffs. Sometimes the reality TV drama, even off-screen, gets in the way. It’s too bad.
Tell us about the new season of The Playboy Murders.
HM: We have at least one story where people who knew the victim reached out to me on social media and wanted to speak out. It’s really meaningful for me to do stories like that.
You’re a mom, a host and an author. What do you hope to be best known for?
HM: [Motherhood] is definitely what comes first, but I keep my kids private. I’m not too concerned about being seen as a mom in the public eye — that’s more my real life. I’d like to be seen as a storyteller. I like to be honest and open about my own story and also help tell other people’s stories in a respectful way.
What advice would you give your younger self?
HM: Hang on, because it’s going to be a wild ride! And take as many pictures as you can because you might need evidence.
On a Lighter Note…
Holly answers our burning questions!
Favorite book?
HM: That’s a really hard one for me to pick because I have so many favorites. But one book that I love to recommend I’ve revisited in every phase of my adult life: I’m With the Band: Confessions of a Groupie by Pamela des Barres. She just does such an amazing job capturing a time and place. You feel like you were on the Sunset Strip in the ’60s, like Almost Famous in book form.
Favorite travel destination?
HM: I always love going to Paris because it’s such a beautiful, layered city. But I also love Disney resorts. I’ve been to every Disney resort in the world. I’m taking my kids to Aulani in Hawaii for spring break, so I’m really excited about that.
Why the Hawaii one?
HM: It’s not a theme park like the other Disney destinations, but I love Oahu. There are so many different things to do.
What beauty product do you recommend?
HM: It’s so basic, but Tarte Shape Tape. As I get older, I feel like it’s the only undereye concealer I can use that does the job and doesn’t crinkle up.

here are five wrestling matches I enjoyed this week, including links ^_^ mostly joshi. this may become a regular feature on this blog

Mayumi Ozaki vs. Saori Anou - OZ Academy Eternal Sparkle Dec. 30 2024 [starts at the 1:50:00 mark]
Older woman publicly humilates 5'3 wrestler.

Christian Cage vs. Darby Allin - AEW Wrestledream 2023 - Best Two Out Of Three [X]
Christian is delightfully evil. Goes to wild heights - I would show this to someone to prove pro wrestling is good.

Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio - WCW Halloween Havoc 1997 - Title Versus Mask [X]
14 minutes long and doesn't waste a second. What is there to say?? I watched it at night and rewatched it the next morning.

Ayako Hamada & AKINO vs. Etsuko Mita & Mima Shimoda - ARSION Carnival 1999 [X]
Grimy, violent tag team match. For the sickos.

Mizuki vs. Yuka Sakazaki - TJPW Grand Princess 2023 [starts at the 3:50:00 mark]
Lolita babyface gets tortured.

Ranking of different skam/evak remakes?
So we're ranking my children now? This feels so wrong....
JK LETS FUCKING GOOO
So before I start, I'm gonna let you know that I haven't seen SKAM España or SKAM Netherlands (So I won't be ranking them at all) + as SRAM is still airing their s1 I won't be ranking them either!
Also, this is so long, so I'll post the EVAK rankings in a separate post! (Definitely didn't accidentally post this too soon and meant to do them both in one post)
Alright, first, the SKAM rankings which the reasoning for are quite short as I try my best not to mention the evak of the series as I will be talking about them in the evak rankings but they are as follows:

1. WTFOCK
I debated putting WTFOCK in second just because of Kato's season ngl, but in the end, they have some of my FAVORITE characterization's in any SKAM remake. Mainly, their characterizations of those in the flat share family (Milan, Zoë, Robbe, Senne, Sander) as for once they actually feel like a family during season 3 unlike some other variations (skam france).
I haven't spoken about it before, but most characterization's of The Eskild variation I don't like, but that's just because in most, it really feels like that don't care about the Isak (especially in SKAM France) but that's just me.
Their William (Senne) is the best version of him ever, and I can actually see how him and Zoë ended up together compared to the previous versions and tbh I love Noora in (almost) any version so I don't have much to say about her haha
But anyway, Senne and Zoë are like Robbe's parents, and Milan is basically Robbe's dad I said what I said
I love Jens, I love Jana, and I LOVE what they did during lockdown (the WTFOCKDOWN) all in all I just love the series and rewatch s1, 2, 3, wtfockdown, and s5 often (I'll even rewatch Their s7 as well)

2. DRUCK (SKAM Germany)
I've said before that DRUCK has one of the only 'Next Gen'/Original Characters that I can stand (Sascha Belin) but even outside of that I adore this series. Maybe it's because I knew a bit of German going into it (my family is German though I'm American) or maybe it's because they are close to me in age (I graduated in 2023) or maybe it could even be because I'm a trans person myself I'm not really sure, but DRUCK just hit different than the rest of the SKAM's do.
Plus, I can feel the love that Hans has for Matteo the same way I can feel the love Milan has for his boy Robbe 🤷♂️
I adore Matteo and Sascha, I would die for David, and I love Hanna (who may just be my favorite version of Eva ever)
3. SKAM
Yep, the original SKAM is in the top 3 (where else would it be?) To be honest, the only reason it's not first is because of characterization. Mainly William and Eskild's.
As I mentioned before, I am not a huge fan of Eskild. Though I do love him, I think that he's just a bit too much for me, lol. God, I hate William, though - in every variation execpt for Senne, and will never understand how Noora fell for such an asshole.
Anyway, I would say that no one can outdo the original, but obviously, that's not true (for me), but I will say that the original will always be special. It brought out so many important topics, like mental health, in a time that it wasn't common and was my heartstopper. It helped me come to terms with my MI and queerness and that's something I will always love it for.

4. SKAM France
I know, I know, "but SKAM France is so good!! It's the best version!!" WRONG! While I'll admit, France has one of the best s3 the over all series was NOT the best SKAM version that I've seen (though it's not the worse either)
Their William (Charles) was the worst pit of all of them, and so was their Eskild (Mika) I don't know why I feel that way about Mika but God that man gets on my nerves, though I'm happy he gets a partner in s5 (the first ever Eskild to do that) I just can't stand him.
Not to mention, it went on for way too long. Like I've said before, I rarely ever like the original characters, and this rings so true for SKAM France- they should have just kept it to Arthur and Lola (as they both had connections to the SKAM characters from the first seasons)
The only reason it's #4 is because of Elu and Yann. Hell, I can barely stand their Noora, and Eva that's saying something.

5. SKAM Italia
So, like, It's not the best remake, but it's not SKAM Austin, so it's next to last haha tbh I liked Marti and Nico but other than that it wasn't,,, great?? Like, I don't know. I like it, I'll rewatch it. I don't really have anything to say, negative or positive, about this version (that isn't evak varient related at least)

6. SKAM Austin
Die. Die. Die. Die this show should never have been made it fucking sucks I hate hate HATE it, shay was the only okay character.
Listen, I'm allowed to hate it. Do you know how excited I was to have a SKAM not only in my country but my hometown??? I don't live in Austin anymore so I feel safe saying that but fuck man I was so happy and then they put out that fucking bullshit- I couldn't even get through the first fucking episode.

Turtles Catches Up With Old GMMTV: KinnPorsche, and Analyzing the KP Cultural Zeitgeist Edition (Part 2)
[What’s going on here? After joining Tumblr and discovering Thai BLs through KinnPorsche in 2022, I began watching GMMTV’s new offerings -- and realized that I had a lot of history to catch up on, to appreciate the more recent works that I was delving into. From tropes to BL frameworks, what we’re watching now hails from somewhere, and I’m learning about Thai BL's history through what I’m calling the Old GMMTV Challenge (OGMMTVC). Starting with recommendations from @absolutebl on their post regarding how GMMTV is correcting for its mistakes with its shows today, I’ve made an expansive list to get me through a condensed history of essential/classic/significant Thai BLs produced by GMMTV and many other BL studios. My watchlist, pasted below, lists what I’ve watched and what’s upcoming, along with the reviews I’ve written so far. Today, I conclude a two-part series on my thoughts on KinnPorsche, my very first Thai BL, and the impact that I think KP has had on the Thai BL industry since 2022.]
Top of the morning (or whatever time zone you're in) to ya! Yesterday, I ruminated on KinnPorsche's foundation in regards to how the show wasn't as innovative as newbie members of the Thai BL fandom, like myself, may have thought in 2022 -- but was rather a great example of a show that derivatively used a lot of excellent past Thai BL influences in order to make a newly stylized show that I think, for the most part, worked well.
Harkening back to the outline for these two pieces that I laid out yesterday, this post will concentrate on:
3) How I think KP has impacted how other studios approach, market, and write Thai BLs now, and 4) A quick passing thought on BOC's own continued influence on the Thai BL genre and industry since 2022, particularly by way of Dead Friend Forever.
Before I get fully into point 3, I wanted to take a second to offer one more thought on an element about the KinnPorsche series itself that I didn't unwind on much yesterday, and one that'll connect with point 3 in a second. I mentioned yesterday that I personally (in my own opinion, I am accountable here) don't think that some of the VegasPete elements of the show helped the show's flow and continuity at all times. After my rewatch, I think the show could have stood for more episode editing to better its flow. I very much know how beloved VegasPete are in much of the KP fandom (thanks so much to dear friend @wen-kexing-apologist for the conversations about this during my rewatch!), so I don't want to pooh-pooh very hard, because at the same time, I think Bible as an actor was valuable to the show regarding Vegas's interactions with Porsche -- that side storyline offered intrigue and depth particularly into Porsche's mindset at the end of the series. At the same time, I think the VegasPete scenes contained enough questionable takes on trauma and attraction that I think now contribute to the show's legend and status as a uniquely heaty drama, but (in my opinion, people, I own this!), I think some of those takes could have been removed, smoothed, or tamped down for editing's sake, vis à vis those questionable takes in particular.
Taking VegasPete's trauma-and-kink-driven storyline, and KinnPorsche's romps and unravellings, into consideration, along with the show's excellent use of comedy as a plot driver: I think that KinnPorsche has clearly had an impact on how subsequent "heat" BL dramas have been created and marketed since KP's run. I'm thinking in particularly of some big ones (heh heh), including 2023's Only Friends, and 2023-24's Playboyy (which I did not finish, FYI).
Heat -- and the increasing use and management of it -- has long been an important element of the Thai BL industry. Like I said yesterday, MaxTul (my beloved) were pioneers of it in Together With Me and Manner of Death, and MAME consecrated episodic heat in 2019's TharnType, and even introduced enough of it notably in 2018's Love By Chance by way of those awesome spicy AePete scenes. And the WONDERFUL Lovely Writer offered meta commentary about the dependence that the Thai BL/Series Y industry has on heat in order to drive in fans, oftentimes to the detriment of more interesting and/or fulfilling and/or emotionally complicated plots.
KinnPorsche's lengthy marketing, from its Filmania days in 2020 and 2021, to its eventual 2022 premiere through Be On Cloud, certainly helped to drive interest and intrigue in the show, from the debut pairing of MileApo, to the clear use of heat that the show was promising before its airing. (Red Peafowl could never.)
Looking at the moment we are in right now -- early spring of 2024, with the ability to look back on the conclusions of both Only Friends and Playboyy -- I see the influence that KinnPorsche had on these shows being HUGELY marketed as cutting-edge-entrées to a high-heat and high-interest slice of Thai BL, particularly for Only Friends, which was GMMTV's own first step into really high-heat territory.
Both of the shows ended in meh territory (and both shows were written by the same writer in Den Panuwat, who may very well have a monogamy kink). Both shows ended up putting pure monogamy on a pedestal, and seemed to judge extra-monogamous sex as a "mistake" that was worth rectifying through "true," i.e., monogamous, love.
I posit, and I'm glad, that KinnPorsche did NOT go this route. Extracurricular sex wasn't even in the show's genes anyway, but -- the heat that KP marketed at the time of its premiere was solely associated with the centralized romances of the two main pairings. KinnPorsche didn't have to get extra-monogamously messy in its bones (huh huh) in order to be hot -- and it makes me curious to wonder why shows like Only Friends and Playboyy felt the need to promote relational messiness as a way to hype up their heat, all of which kinda putzed out in the end run of both of those shows.
Of course, we've still had heat in many other shows since KP's premiere, including in directions that roundly surprised the larger fandom, such as Pit Babe's take on omegaverse, and maybe even the vets Earth and Mix getting hot and heavy in Moonlight Chicken, a direction that Aof Noppharnach has been known to not take for the sake of keeping the ratings on his shows kid-friendly. But I do find it interesting that the heavy promotion of Only Friends and Playboyy led the fandom to think that these shows were going to have progressive takes on sex and sexuality, when they ultimately did not (I'd even argue that both of these shows ended up being judgemental of sexual experimentation). And while I don't think KinnPorsche's takes on heat were necessarily progressive, I do think the marketing of their actors getting into that, particularly as compared to Apo's previous career path in leaving acting for a while, was notable -- and as well, the care that the show took to depict heat scenes with excellent cinematography makes many of those scenes so memorable today.
I want to make one final note about KinnPorsche's and Be On Cloud's general influence on the Thai BL industry, in that I'm impressed by their investment in generally good-to-great writing and directing. As I overviewed yesterday, KinnPorsche heavily featured veterans from across the BL landscape, and Be On Cloud's latest serial offering, Dead Friend Forever, continued that trajectory, having an OG BL director in Ma-Deaw Chookiat partly take the helm of that show. Very importantly, Ma-Deaw Chookiat has been the screenwriter and director of a number of seminal Thai queer films and shows, including 2019's Dew, and more impactfully, 2007's The Love of Siam, which is considered a harbinger of the television Thai BL industry, and a film that has notably influenced important Thai BL creators, especially New Siwaj, who doesn't hesitate to include references to LoS in many of his shows, including Until We Meet Again, My Only 12%, and more. Chookiat has also screenwritten and/or directed three shows written by the notable Thai Y novelist, Sammon, in DFF, Manner of Death, and Triage. Sammon has been on a tear recently, as she will be the screenwriter for BOC's upcoming drama, 4 Minutes, as well as Spare Me Your Mercy, the hugely anticipated BL drama starring Tor Thanapob and singer Jaylerr.
Going back to my thoughts earlier about big marketing of big BLs: we've seen some duds recently from shows that were marketed at a big tip, from OF, to Playboyy, to Idol Factory's The Sign. From what I've gathered from the Tumblr tag regarding The Sign -- it seems that show suffered mostly from a lack of editorial context and plot sensibility and tightness, and that there could have been a good show, if the show had spent less money on CGI, and more money on the script.
Be On Cloud seems to mostly be putting its money where its pen is. I say "mostly" as a caveat. Was the ending of DFF fantastic? No, and I totally admit as much: while the show mostly stuck to its slasher genre conventions (thank you so much to @lurkingshan, my genre guru, for explaining this to me), the show seemed to poop out in the end by giving us a PheeJin BL ship, instead of Phee's and Jin's gruesome deaths. Womp womp. The pull of BL, and the need for clean-ish endings for the fujoshi crowd, may still be too economically enticing for studios, including Be On Cloud itself.
But I'm optimistic for BOC's upcoming shows, with the talent and money they're putting into scripts and directing. And we know that BOC's first film, the non-queer Man Suang, was an important artistic point for the studio as it continues its investment in MileApo and experimental content to market within and outside of Thailand. It was important enough that Dead Friend Forever, emanating from the Thai BL world, took on an entirely different genre instead, and literally presented that back to BL fans on a silver platter. I hope 4 Minutes can tread similar experimental territory. And I'm glad to see Be On Cloud being able to invest in high-quality writing and directing after the publicly major obstacles the studio experienced last year during the Build Jakapan scandal.
From the time I discovered Thai BLs in 2022, to now: I would not have expected KinnPorsche and Be On Cloud to start such a journey in my personal drama fan life. As well, considering how many damn shows I've now watched from Thailand, I also didn't expect this rewatch of KinnPorsche to be so much fun. AND, I truly didn't realize I had this much to say about it -- but there was a lot of say, especially by way of how referential the original KinnPorsche series was, which touched my little nerdy BL heart.
With that, I say ta-ta to my entrée to this fun world of Thai BLs, and move on to the next one!
[OKAY! We are kind of back of the grind, although my ability to watch dramas has really been hampered by real life obligations and schedules. BUT: I'm trucking along through War of Y, and I have some fun rewatches coming up in The Eclipse (my first-ever GMMTV BL), as well as two new-to-me dramas in GAP (the first GL on the list, WOO!) and My School President, which I can't wait for.
I've made a few tiddly adjustments to the list below, including adding Dead Friend Forever as an important addition, and I'm deep in my giggles with 23.5, which I am LOVING. ONWARDS! For more details about the ongoing list, please checkity-check here!

Do you mind sharing your Thai language learning journey?
Hi there anon 👋

My memory is awful but I'll try anyway sldkslskd
I first got interested in Thai at some point in late 2022. At the time, kpop was my main hobby and fandom space so I stumbled across Semantic Error via DKZ's Jaechan, then remembered I'd watched Puppy Honey and Theory of Love (+ partly 3 Will Be Free as it was airing) a few years prior so I went to look up if OffGun had been in any more shows together. I'm not sure anymore if it was during my first or second watch-through of Not Me but I recall rewatching the tent scene in ep. 9 and very suddenly taking note of the pronouns they use, like- at the time, I'd spent years halfheartedly learning Korean to arguably little progress apart from being able to read & write, knowing some beginner vocabulary, expressions, and numbers - mostly, I'd gained a familiarity with the sound, speed, and structure of spoken Korean. Meanwhile, I'd never gotten a feel for Thai while watching the previously mentioned shows! So I don't know how or why all of a sudden but I think that moment of picking up on reoccurring words (and what would be more recurring than pronouns?) and those two little words (กู /guu/ & มึง /meung/) sending me down a rabbit hole of different registers of pronouns? That probably did me in 🤣
Next thing I remember is watching more Thai BL and mostly GMMTV because GMMTV BLs were the most easily accessible. And since I'd gotten a Viki subscription for Semantic Error, I also went to check out their selection at the time, which is how I found Cutie Pie, for example, the Viki subs to which also tickled my brain cause they gave some insight into wordplay and pronoun choices! I don't recall the exact order of things but at some point, while watching more Thai BL, I started lurking on twt as I was watching my first on-going show, Love in the Air, so I had to find fan translators on twt to make sense of actors' tweets and bts & variety content.
Yadda yadda yadda I became aware I was well on my way of developing a new hyperobsession lol so it was maybe around October to December of 2022 that I struggled to attempt to learn to at least read Thai. Hangul had been so easy to learn and opened up a world of recipes to me! So how come I couldn't find a helpful app or any starting point really to get a foot in the door with Thai and its countless consonants?!

I think it ended up being a combination of actually actively studying the Wikipedia article on the Thai script (but especially the IPA chart cause that made it so so much more accessible to me!) and an app called PTM / Pocket Thai Master which looks to be unavailable on the play store now??? but really helped me get more familiar with the look and sound and tone classes of the different consonants. After sufficiently cracking the code on Thai script, I started looking up and studying specific vocab groups, like seasons, days of the week, animals, fruits, body parts, super boring beginner language learner stuff :p
I was on vacation in Bangkok in May of 2023, at which point I started keeping a vocabulary booklet to reinforce writing, reading (which I was terrible at lol), and interacting with new words. I had already well and truly fallen in love with the language and that vacation made me fall in love with the people and culture as well. :)
Afterwards, I basically started surrounding myself with Thai media! It wasn't just Thai BL but so much variety content and tweets and other social media posts and Thai music and recipes and I'd long found NuNew to be my favorite so of course I was excitedly following his debut as a singer, too. I was and still am basically learning by immersion, looking up words in various dictionaries or on pantip or twt as I go, getting lost in deep dives around the most random things, and trying to keep up with viral expressions at all times in order to make sense of what my favorite Thai artists are joking about and referencing. :D
When Last Twilight aired, I bought a Thai copy of The Little Prince, thinking it might be a good introduction to starting to read novel-style language but which I only finished a few weeks ago because my perseverance is awful lol Last year, I also stubbornly bought both the English and Thai novels for The Next Prince and made myself read both, even if the royal language was at first difficult to get used to and novel descriptions were still largely new territory to me as most of my exposure to Thai had been spoken dialogue or monologue but rarely descriptions of actions, expressions, and feelings, or the flowery language of novels. So I guess my attempt to read ข้ามฟ้าเคียงเธอ (aka The Next Prince) made reading เจ้าชายน้อย (aka The Little Prince), which I've read in other languages before, a lot easier in comparison lol
This year I started actually speaking! One of my great-aunts is Thai so I'd had the opportunity last year to speak Thai with her for an entire evening but I was mostly listening tbh and struggling to form my own sentences or even psyching myself out from lack of confidence. During my first Bangkok vacation in 2023, I had an okay level of listening comprehension but only knew a few phrases and expressions to the confusion of a few hotel and restaurant staff members lol but during my stay in Bangkok this January, I tried to speak as much Thai as I possibly could, wherever I went, whatever I bought or ordered, whoever I met! If you don't try and put yourself out there and learn to go with the flow, you'll never dare to just speak and use the words you know and remember and learn via conversing. I was back home from that vacation when February began and since then I've:
gotten a new colleague* who sometimes helps out at my store who's Thai and my age so now I only speak Thai with her
started frequenting a local Thai restaurant, because I was missing Thai food already, the owner of which only speaks English and Thai (I'm German, living in Germany, for context :P) and seemed super excited to have a customer attempt to speak Thai so now I only speak Thai with him
met that same great-aunt again at my grandma's birthday party and this time actually spoke a lot more myself, almost exclusively speaking Thai with her
*When I told her I'd went to Bangkok mostly for a concert, she ofc asked whose it was and I've never been more excited as when I said 'Zee Pruk' and she went 'Omg ขนลุก!' and I realized that finally a flesh and blood person in Germany recognized the name and knows the artists I love 😭🙌 we then bonded over Jeff Satur, language learning, and Thai music and slang555
Honestly, I don't know that I've ever had much of a language learning strategy or a specific goal in mind. I'm just watching/listening to/reading all the Thai media I'm interested in and filling in any blanks along the way. Thai is such a beautiful melodic language and it's just a joy to learn, no matter how small or big the steps I take.
I hope this ramble of a reply is what you had in mind, anon 😂 If it isn't- well- sorry not sorry? My Thai language learning journey is chaotic, entirely self-taught, and highly dependent on what media I'm currently into so it was never gonna be a simple answer :D
#inquiring minds.txt#local woman harps on about linguistics#bella and the blorbos#local woman harps on about znn#thai language#this already took long enough to mentally order and then write down so there's no way in hell i'm reading it over for#spelling or logic mistakes sksjdlsds

Or... I didn't like is as much as you think I should.
Relative ranking isn't fixed. I basically just asked myself which ones would I want to rewatch right... now.
Absolute BL not included because it’s parody
Love is Science? & Puppy Honey not included because BL is a B-plot
Word of Honor has been censored off the list. Fuck that noise.
The following are my top 3 shorts:

Ninjavember 2023!
Here's completed version with a bunch of explaining below each picture! Just scroll down if you don't want to see me blabbering. (I tried to go short as much as possible)
(I have a lot of AUs and headcanons that only exist in my head and my sketchbooks. Forgive me for wanting to spill them out.)

Day 2: Randy was listening to music with earphones so he didn't know Theresa was sitting next to him. Imagine how embarrassed he would get when he knows.

Day 8: Tech-Ninja AU. It's about machinist Randy being set up by Mcfist for murdering the town hero Ninja with his invention, the Tech-Ninja armor. Then the spirit of the destroyed Nomicon travelled to his armor and become an AI, choosing him to be the next Ninja. So Randy accepted it and was determined to make up for what he caused, when nobody except Howard, the boss of Weinerman industries, trusted him.
Day 10: Apocalypse AU. It's about Randy lost the battle at the end of season 2 and became the prisoner of the Sorcerer. The Nomicon was handed to Howard before that, and they later recruited survivors to form a resistance against the Sorcerer. Then Randy was stanked, but instead of turning into a monster, he was brainwashed and given the power of creating his own red and black stank. And- You know what will happen. (Inspired by the Darkness of Randy Cunningham)

Day 13: Elemental trial AU. You can say it's my take on what will happen in season 3. The Carp god was under the cover of a random carpfish as Norisville mascot. After a series of events it was awaken and gave Randy the power of Ice Rage.
Day 14: I think there's more than just the blood of First Ninja's brothers, since nobody knows how to destank people at the beginning...

Day 17: The Warrior might have been living or sleeping there, waiting for some ninjas to wake him up or consult him about his forbidden arts. (Ha, It's kinda like Eclipsa in Star vs. the forces of Evil)
Day 18: Or it can be called the New Generation AU. In the future, Randy took the place of Messager as well as the Ninja Guardian, while Brent became the new Sword Smith and Sorceress became their main villain. I am not really good at designing OCs so there's no next ninja yet.
However, I read a fanfic of another fandom in the form of CYOA, and it gave me new idea: just let the reader be the next ninja, it will be fun, too. (Also, this AU was inspired by an RC9GN fanfic titled from the past to the future, where future Randy became Ninja Guardian. But I couldn't find it on fanfiction.net any more. Has anyone read it? I didn't dream about it, right?)
Day 19: During that time I got even crazier after I read Enter the Nomicon. It's hard to believe I had a crazy period of shipping Randicon, even for myself. Especially weird for me since I now have a completely different view about Nomicon (peek at my Yokai Ninja AU comics). Time really can change a person, wow.

Day 21: Yes, a whole page just for this headcanon. I used the screenshots in the show because it's too hard to draw. The barrier thing is kinda like the one that held Bill's power in the range of Gravity Falls.

Day 23: Danny: the Walking Air-Conditioner. Inspired by a chapter of Secret Quartet. Danny phased his hand through the scarf. Just imagine your friend put a cold hand inside your scarf in winter. *shiver*
Day 25: Besides Ninja vine ball, there are also spike ball, gas ball, sonic ball, rainbow illusion ball, tear ball and so on. I just pick the most common one from my ninja balls headcanons to put in here.

Day 27: You may see I prefer using numbers to refer episodes, because that's how I track and rewatch them. To be more specific, I list some keywords here: NomiRandy, First Ninja, Debbie, Tengu. As fellow RC9GN Fans I'm sure you get it.
Day 30: It's a half-baked AU thing. The flowers I tried to draw are rosemary?
Wow! I actually finished all the prompts! Thank you for holding the big event! @evilspiritweek
(I don't mind sharing more details about my AUs or headcanons. *wink*)

Shows I Watched in 2024: Ranked!
Third year now that I'm ranking all the shows I watched in 2024 for fun and as a personal rec list :) This year, I watched 21 shows in 2024.
Like past years, each show is scored out of 5 in three categories: Blorboness (how blorbable the characters are, how much they rotate in my mind), Quality (execution, narrative elements), and Enjoyability (including and especially rewatchability). The three scores are then totaled for a final score out of 15.
1. Black Sails (2014-2017) (rewatch) - 15 pts
Blorboness: 5
Quality: 5
Enjoyableness: 5
Comment: Usually I don't include rewatches on my list because they're obviously shows I know I like and thus tend to score/rank higher automatically, but I'm making an exception for rewatches of shows that I haven't seen in years. Therefore, top spot MUST go to the KING 💪💪 greatest show of all time istg 😩😩🤌🤌
2. Fellow Travelers (2023) - 15 pts
Blorboness: 5
Quality: 5
Enjoyableness: 5
3. Avatar: the Last Airbender (2005-2008) (rewatch) - 15 pts
Blorboness: 5
Quality: 5
Enjoyableness: 5
4. Kaos (2024) - 15 pts
Blorboness: 5
Quality: 5
Enjoyableness: 5
Comment: It is absolutely CRIMINAL that this show was cancelled, it was SO!! GOOD!!!
5. Young Royals Season 3 (2024) - 15 pts
Blorboness: 5
Quality: 5
Enjoyableness: 5
6. Percy Jackson and the Olympians (2023-) - 14.5 pts
Blorboness: 5
Quality: 4.5
Enjoyableness: 5
Comment: I try not to give half points in my rankings but people were way too mean about the Percy Jackson series. I feel like something both Tumblr audiences and the show writers often forgot is that the show is targeted toward a middle school age audience, which means for PJO fans online who grew up, it's not going to be a deep, perfectly-crafted psychological analysis of childhood trauma, and for the show writers, I feel like the main or only drop in quality was that they assumed that monsters were obvious and so the characters all seemed to immediately know what all the monsters were without leaving enough of the exciting mystery and suspense for middle school watchers. Besides that, though, the show was genuinely one of the best and most fun I've seen in years; I would almost give it a 15/15 anyway. (Also had like half the entire Black Sails cast/production team working on the PJO series??? I love it 😭😭😍😍)
7. Mary and George (2024) - 14 pts
Blorboness: 4
Quality: 5
Enjoyableness: 5
8. The Legend of Korra (2012-2014) (rewatch) - 14 pts
Blorboness: 5
Quality: 4 (I know why and I still love you, fuck Nickelodeon)
Enjoyableness: 5
9. Interview with the Vampire Season 2 (2024) - 13 pts
Blorboness: 4
Quality: 5
Enjoyableness: 4
10. Heartstopper Season 3 (2024) - 13 pts
Blorboness: 4
Quality: 5
Enjoyableness: 4
Comment: This one snuck up on me, I wasn't expecting this one to resonate so much at this point in my life 🥲
11. Doctor Odyssey (2024-) - 13 pts
Blorboness: 5
Quality: 4
Enjoyableness: 4
12. Bridgerton Season 3 (2024) - 13 pts
Blorboness: 4
Quality: 4
Enjoyableness: 5
Comment: Lost a point for quality because it still feels a bit like they don't know what to do with sexism and homophobia. They want to be progressive with racial equality without deconstructing the other highly oppressive institutions of sexism (the marriage mart, primogeniture/the baby race???) and homophobia (so is same-sex sexuality (such as with Francesca and Benedict) going to be accepted or what? Is it that they can accept interracial marriage but a same-sex one is too far? This is intrinsically tied to the institutional sexism). I'm assuming they'll answer these questions in Benedict's and Francesca's seasons so I await to see how they'll handle it.
13. 9-1-1 Fox/ABC (2018-) - 12 pts
Blorboness: 4
Quality: 3
Enjoyableness: 5
Comment: My quality score may be controversial but Fox shooting themselves in the foot with Buddie queerbaiting and lack of follow-through in early seasons just annihilated a lot of the narrative quality not even from a shipper perspective 💀💀 Also Bucktommy breakup was so stupid I miss them 🪦🪦
14. Alexander: The Making of a God (2024) - 12 pts
Blorboness: 3
Quality: 4
Enjoyableness: 5
15. Cherry Magic TH (2024) - 12 pts
Blorboness: 4
Quality: 4
Enjoyableness: 4
Comment: For comparison, I rated Cherry Magic Japan (2020) a total score of 2 (breakdown: 0/2/0) in 2022 💀💀 Cherry Magic Thailand ATE, SLAPPED, LEFT NO CRUMBS
16. Galavant (2015-2016) - 12 pts
Blorboness: 3
Quality: 4
Enjoyableness: 5
17. Meet You at the Blossom (2024) - 11 pts
Blorboness: 3
Quality: 3
Enjoyableness: 4
Comment: +1 extra point for being the first uncensored queer wuxia cdrama!!!!!!!!!!!! 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
18. Abbott Elementary (2021-) - 11 pts
Blorboness: 3
Quality: 4
Enjoyableness: 4
19. Pit Babe (2023-2024) - 10 pts
Blorboness: 3
Quality: 3
Enjoyableness: 4
20. My School President (2022-2023) - 9 pts
Blorboness: 3
Quality: 3
Enjoyableness: 3
21. Avatar: the Last Airbender Live Action (2024) - 5 pts
Blorboness: 2
Quality: 1
Enjoyableness: 2
Comment: Amazing how you can have an all Asian/indigenous cast while the OG had mostly white voice actors and yet NATLA was by far more whitewashed than the original because of a lack of cultural competence or cultural awareness in the writing. I love the actors and they did great under the circumstances but the writing and directing was dogshit.

Great BreakDown of a February Olivia Plath Interview
youtube
Notes:
Olivia grew up believing that California was an evil place.
The interviewer pointed out that the show started with the older Plath children wanting to move away from the strict religious upbringing but now it seems that only Olivia is still wanting that distance. Olivia specifically notes that Moriah mostly dresses and eats different rather digging deep into family dysfunction and other more meaningful beliefs.
Olivia watched the first 3 seasons and stopped at season 4 because she felt that was a dark time and did not stand by some of her actions. It would have been a hard rewatch for her.
Olivia realized she was dissatisfied with life at age 14 or 15 but did not know why. She then realized she had no deep emotional connections. Around that time, she cut her hair to her shoulders and began wearing eyeliner (which was a no-no in her home). At 16 or 17, she apologized to her father and the church via a spoken letter.
Olivia met Ethan at a family conference. Years later, Ethan wrote a letter to Olivia's father. Olivia's father then called Kim (note: not Barry!) to discuss. The two families agreed that Ethan and Olivia could talk on Skype for one hour every three months.
Olivia has been dating! It is hard for her to get past the first date. She has been struggling with shame due to growing up in purity culture.
In regards to the statement Ethan made about how Olivia should be making 3 meals a day, more was said but cut out due to TLC avoiding politics. Olivia now asks men right off the bat if they cook.
The interviewer was confused when first watch the show. He did not understand why such a "pure" family would want reality tv fame. He then asked how Ethan and Olivia were approached with the idea.
Kim invited TLC to film Olivia and Ethan's wedding without asking because she knew Olivia would say no. It was not shown on the show, because to release, it required Ethan and Olivia's consent too. Ethan and Olivia then made a list of requirements to join the TV show. At this time, Olivia and Ethan could not see the siblings. In order to do the show, seeing the kids was added to the list.
Olivia will be in Season 6. She wants viewers to see what happens when someone actually walks away from the fundie lifestyle.
Olivia loves the TLC crew.
Olivia talks about the initial separation she had with Ethan. Ethan agreed they could live in 3 different places in 3 years.
Ethan agreed to marriage counseling during the first separation. He went to three sessions and then quit.
Olivia said Ethan said if his hypothetical son came out as gay, he would disown him. Olivia is strongly opposed to that.
Ethan tried to get her back during the divorce process but Olivia was not interested. They did not have any relationship at this point.
The Plaths allegedly had a party when they found out about the divorce.
Ethan is still very close with Nathan Meggs, Olivia's brother. Ethan heavily leaned on Nathan during the divorce, which affect Olivia's relationship with her brother.
Olivia still has a relationship with Ethan's extended family in Minnesota.
Olivia is willing to have a conversation with some Plaths to connect the storylines. Olivia said, "if this turns into a circus, I'm walking away" (quoting Moriah's song about her lol).
Olivia said WTP was not producer driven, rather "cast-members" drove the narratives of each season.
Olivia said 2023 was a tough year. In March, she split from Ethan. In May, her younger brother died unexpectedly and she had to see the Meggs family with whom she's estranged. In this February 2024 interview, she says she now has peace.
Olivia had not seen her family of origin in years, specifically her parents. Her parents have blocked her and all other siblings who have left the fold. She has not been able to talk to her youngest siblings, even her brother who died.
Lydia Meggs helped Olivia through their brother's death and funeral.
She is looking for a man who is okay for it to not be a forever thing.

Movies/TV watched 2024; asterisks * are rewatches, asterisks w/question marks *? are rewatches I couldn’t remember having seen before but had a vague sense of familiarity and/or I found evidence of watching elsewhere in my archive. Struck titles were unfinished (I absolutely loved the book In Cold Blood but dozed off a bunch during the movie; Under the Skin seemed promising but I had to turn it off because I could NOT emotionally deal with the baby on the beach.)
This year I treated myself to some old weird nostalgia movies on VHS (YouTube or Internet Archive links provided when available). We have a decent collection of thrifted DVDs and we borrow a lot of movies from the library. Occasionally I’ll sign up for a month of a streaming service if there’s something ~exclusive~ we want to watch, and then we’ll end up watching whatever horror garbage is offered. Honestly, I think “meh, it was okay” was my main reaction to a lot of the movies I watched this year? Kind of a bummer.
Favorites in 2024: BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE!!!!! I just loved everything about it :D I thought it was aesthetically the right amount of Tim Burton without being *too much* Tim Burton, ya know? (Love movie environments that feel like a dark ride!) Beetlejuice is a forever favorite, one of my earliest “crushes” (proving that I have absolutely never had good taste in men & that as early as age 4 I yearned for a witty dirtbag prankster to show up and “promptly whisk [me] off from [my] ordinary life into wacky adventures in the land of the dead” [description from the box set of the animated series, yikes lmao; my other fave beginning around this time was Doctor Who lol, obvious underlying theme is obvious]). ANYway, BJ BJ was also the first movie we saw in theatres post-covid! Not necessarily due to covid-related concerns, but just like, idk, being busy and frugal homebodies. And I guess since more theatres are offering restaurant food nowadays, they’re making it more difficult to sneak food in (no bags allowed), booooo.
Other faves: Asteroid City (I’m not usually a Wes Anderson person but this was visually stunning), His House, Poor Things. The Seeding was pretty wild, if heavy-handed. Tho I kind of thought *everything* about male/female relationships in horror movies I saw this year was getting pretty heavy-handed :/ Sisters with Transistors was a cool documentary about women (Delia Derbyshire, Daphne Oram, Wendy Carlos, Pauline Oliveros, et al.) in the early days of electronic music, dreamily narrated by Laurie Anderson (*heart-eyes*). Beatles ’64 was surprisingly okay! I *really* appreciated the interviews with people who were young Beatlemaniacs back in the ‘60s, hearing (mostly) women talk about how the Beatles represented a new way of being masculine, how liking the Beatles could provide a sense of agency for women navigating their own desires, etc. That was a cool perspective which I do not personally encounter very often in the Beatles cinematic universe. (For background: My two most recent long-term relationships have been with indie musicians who just happen to be extremely obsessed with the Beatles, so I’ve spent the past 17+ years absorbing deep dives about how great they are, and while I like many of their songs and Understand Their Position of Importance in the History of Pop/Rock/Human Culture, I just do not give a fuuuck on a personal level. But I do still begrudgingly respect my partner’s interest enough to occasionally watch a Beatles documentary with him.)
